Show Notes

The Business Pants Thanksgiving Special Game! Let’s take a trip through history: Dark ages Walmart pulls back on DEI efforts, removes some LBGTQ merchandise from website The nation’s largest employer, which has about 1.6 million U.S. workers, joined a growing list of companies that have stepped back from diversity, equity and inclusion efforts after feeling the heat from conservative activists. In a statement, Walmart said it is “willing to change alongside our associates and customers who represent all of America .” “We’ve been on a journey and know we aren’t perfect , but every decision comes from a place of wanting to foster a sense of belonging , to open doors to opportunities for all our associates, customers and suppliers and to be a Walmart for everyone,” the statement said. Among the changes, Walmart will no longer allow third-party sellers to sell some LGBTQ-themed items on Walmart’s website, including items marketed to transgender youth like chest binders, company spokeswoman Molly Blakeman said. She said it also recently decided to stop sharing data with the Human Rights Campaign, a nonprofit that tracks companies’ LGBTQ policies, or with other similar organizations. Additionally, the big-box retailer is winding down the Center for Racial Equity , a nonprofit that Walmart started in 2020 after George Floyd’s murder sparked protests across the country. At the time, Walmart and the company’s foundation pledged $100 million over five years to fight systemic racism and create the center. Over the past year, the company has phased out supplier diversity programs , which gave preferential financing to some groups, such as women and minorities, after the Supreme Court decision striking down affirmative action. It’s also moved away from using the term “diversity, equity and inclusion” or DEI in company documents, employee titles and employee resource groups. For example, its former chief diversity officer role is now called the chief belonging officer . Luddites Unite Ransomware attack leaves Starbucks using pens and paper to track employee hours NYC's Underground Steam System May Be Key to a Greener Future Some 100 miles of steam pipes snake below Manhattan, delivering low-carbon vapor to some big-name customers. More buildings could soon tap in. Drugs Kohl's CEO to depart after less than two years at the helm Kohl's CEO Tom Kingsbury will step down after less than two years at the helm, paving the way for former Walmart executive Ashley Buchanan to take on the role as the department store chain looks to execute a turnaround. Kohl's said Buchanan improved profitability at Michaels Companies, a specialty retailer of arts and crafts supplies, where he has been the CEO since 2020, and grew its digital business while simplifying its merchandise strategy. Prior to Michaels, Buchanan was at retailer Walmart for 13 years, where he held a number of executive roles including chief merchandising and chief operating officer for Walmart U.S. e-Commerce. ‘Drill, baby, drill’ is unlikely under Trump, Exxon says Oil and gas producers in the US will not raise output significantly in the coming years despite calls from President-Elect Donald Trump to “drill, baby, drill,” said Exxon Mobil Corp.’s Upstream President Liam Mallon. McDonald's gets into gift-giving with limited-time 2-toy Happy Meal The company said it will sell "Pet Simulator Happy Meals" featuring two toys at participating restaurants across the country beginning Tuesday. One of the toys will be gift-wrapped, the fast-food chain said. "We hope this special Happy Meal inspires kids to share during this season of giving," McDonald’s executive Jennifer Healan said in a statement. "Whether they choose to give their extra toy to a family member, make a friend smile, or show kindness to a neighbor, it’s all about helping kids feel the joy of giving this holiday season." McDonald's to invest more than $100 million to speed up recovery after E. coli outbreak Meta, TikTok, Google slam Australia’s under-16 social media ban Under the proposed law, Australians under 16 years of age will be prohibited from setting up accounts on all major social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Reddit, even if they obtain parental permission. The social media giants will be responsible for policing the ban, under threat of fines of up to 50 million Australian dollars ($32.5 million). Tech firms urge caution and more research(!): TikTok ANZ’s director of public policy Ella Woods-Joyce described the legislation as “rushed” Meta said the social media ban “overlooks the practical reality of age assurance technology.” Both Meta and Google said it was important for Australia to wait until a national trial of age verification technology was completed before passing the bill. “In the absence of such results, neither industry nor Australians will understand the nature or scale of age assurance required by the Bill nor the impact of such measures on Australians,” Meta said in its submission. At the same time, Elon Musk’s X Corp said the bill was “alarming,” adding that it had “serious concerns as to the lawfulness of the bill,” potentially setting up a court challenge to the legislation. “There is no evidence that banning young people from social media will work, and to make it law in the form proposed is highly problematic,” X said in a submission to the committee, adding that the bill was “vague.” Almost all tech companies warned that the laws could also damage the mental health of young Australians if they were rushed through, by cutting off vulnerable teenagers from online community support networks. The Future AirPods that never need charging? These researchers just found a way to use your body as a charger A new Power-over-Skin technology invented at Carnegie Mellon University could change the way we charge our wearables. The new technology works by transforming the human body into a power delivery medium, using RF (radio frequency) signals to wirelessly transmit electricity across the skin. In simple terms, the system consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is a battery-powered unit that couples RF energy to the user’s skin. It could be integrated into existing items like a phone, smartwatch, or a power bank, which could be placed anywhere on the body. The receiver absorbs this RF energy, transforming it into usable power to operate a wearable gadget—like earbuds, rings, or any kind of low-power electronic device—which could be positioned elsewhere on the body. Vegan cheese market expected to grow to nearly $9 billion by 2031 MATT1 This Week’s Portrait in Corporate Patriotism Greg Penner, Chair of WalMart board Walmart becomes the latest company to walk back DEI initiatives Because everyone should get their jobs on merit, not from some affirmative action bullshit For instance, here’s what meritocracy is: Penner was meritocratic enough to marry Rob Walton’s daughter He co-owns the most American and patriotic of things, an NFL team, the Denver Broncos… They believe in family - he co-owns it with his wife who bought it He started the Penner Foundation to give back to the community with his wife’s grandfather’s money - he strongly believes in education, having donated 45% of the foundations grants in 2023 to Brown University where his kids HAPPEN to go Both kids are hardworking athletes at Brown who didn’t get on the teams because their parents paid for a new athletic facility at Brown, but because of their skill His daughter earned her internship at her mom and Walton heiress’s venture firm These are the true patriots who celebrate the meritocracy, not DEI initiatives that separate us into white and not white and normal or gay nancies Walmart has no place selling things to people who don’t merit products, and they have no place supporting trainings about anything except merit badges Honorary patriot: Brian Niccol, CEO of Starbucks and Walmart board member He’s a DOUBLE patriot, since he’s taking on DEI handouts at both Harley Davidson and Walmart, both of whom chose America over DEI

Hell, yeah. Live from an ESG stained English tea towel. What is that like a dish rag? Why do we call it a towel? What is it? All new, terrific Tuesday edition of business fans. Joined by analysts whole mattress, gardi. How do you feel about being called an analyst? Whole you. Okay with that? the most accurate thing, I think I've ever been out There is like a big. Cave of analysis and you a big full of stalagmites. I finished the name matching for non-profits and came up with like 100,000 names. Yeah. So it's maybe it's a good nickname for you. Analyst Hall. And today is Glutton is celebration of consumption called November 26th 2024 the business pants, Thanksgiving special game, whatever. Wow, another name we need to Workshop. Our show today is being sponsored by free flow analytics.com. The only platform measuring board power connections and performance for free. Yeah, I love the word free say, that more often. What are you doing over there? You hung over. Are you throwing up at a plant? I just turn it on the back lighting. I have to ask turn on the back later. I know I've been to headquarters a few times freefloat headquarters but I is that plant behind you. Is that real or is that fake? It isn't. Green. I'm surprised that you're able to keep it alive like that. All right, let's wanna just get right to our game. You have something to say. I have nothing to say, I was nothing important. There's nothing you ever. Let's let's just oh I'm playing you. Yeah that's it. Something anything. Is there things giving music? No. It's actually the biggest family of this Us holiday where we give, thanks for basically asking for help from Native Americans, or otherwise, we would have died. Well, I noticed that, even before Thanksgiving this year, there are, I can already see the Christmas trees are out being sold so it's banana four, things like giving the holiday stuff is out full force already. Yeah. So here it is. The business pants. Thanksgiving special game. The how, what am I giving? Thanks, you're the idiot, came up with this stupid concept. It's the giving thanks game where I go. I present a headline from the last few days and you what you either give thanks or you just decide whether I'm thankful for that or I'm not thankful for that. All right, so I just said to do something a little different today in case that concept alone is keeping our audience incredibly bored at it, another layer. and I broke into, like, Just different subject. I call it like a trip through history trip through time. A trip through history. Oh wow. Okay. This is that nobody asked for. Let's start the Dark Ages with this first headline. This is the big news. A giving. Thanks game, 2024, giving Thanksgiving Walmart is the Dark Ages, starting the Dark Ages, Walmart pulls back. On Dei efforts, remove some LBGTQ merchandise from website. That's the headline from CNBC. Before you tell me, if you're giving thanks or what's the other option, giving thanks or not thing. Listen to this crazy statement from Walmart. Okay. Again, they are pulling back from their diversity equity and inclusion programs. And again, they're removing have to say, Here's a, here's another things they're doing before I get to their statement, they are they're no longer allowing some third-party sellers to sell some lgbtq themed items, right, okay? Including some items marketed to transgender youth, but not just that. There's stop, they've stopped sharing data with the Human Rights Campaign. Oh, okay. A non-profit that tracks companies LBGTQ policies? They are winding down the center for racial Equity, a non-profit that Walmart started in 2020 after George Floyd's murder sparked. Protests the country, they originally at that time pledged, 100 million dollars over five years and that five years is not up to five. I didn't even make it to fight systemic racism and creates, so their baling. Even on fighting systemic racism, okay? And they're all. So I have been phasing out Supplier Diversity programs, okay? And this is what they have to say. They say, That it is willing to change, alongside our Associates and customers who represent all of America. Oh, so is this the equivalent of all lives matter? Is this what we're seeing here? They're saying they said this that they're doing this because they want to represent all of America. So they're getting rid of the diversity equity and inclusion because they want to represent everybody. I don't even know what that means. What does that mean? That means white people, we just we need to add them where they win, were they excluded, that's have you been to a Walmart when were and have you seen? Look at our data on free flow. Analytics.com, if you do, you see who controls Walmart the board, the company, the Walton family seen the Walton family, there's nothing whiter than The Waltons, that's correct. They also said and this, this quote is maddening We've been on a journey again on this is not the satirical part of our show. This is this actually me. Yeah, you quote. Yeah, this is the part of the show where we quote, we've been on a journey and no, we aren't perfect. I guess, I guess the imperfection is is taking care of black people in America. I guess that's the imperfection. Yeah, well, that was the wart but every decision comes from a place of wanting to foster a sense of belonging. Hmm again. So you're dismantling your inclusion program because you want people to feel like they belong, I don't understand anything. This is just nuts to me. I really this is after the election. This is probably the second biggest sort of news in our world that has depressed me this month. I because what I sense now is that this, is it this the domino effect will now happen and They're all going to the all these programs will be start to unwind because Walmart really is the, aren't they the big fish? I mean, this isn't John Deere, this isn't Tractor Supply. I think you're right about that. Well back up though because I like one of the things and you didn't mention Robbie Starbucks. Once I don't want to mention that. And the one thing I would do want to actually said in their statement that this has nothing to do with Robbie Starbucks. They actually said, can I tell you one other thing? I forgot that is just just juvenile. I mean, this is like we joked a lot of the people running America and Corporate America are at the seventh grade level. This to me is like this is like this is like second grade to me. So the they actually even changing the name of their Chief diversity officer that role doesn't exist anymore. Now they're calling it Chief belonging officer what is happening. Now, what they did not focus group Chief belonging. What are we doing? What is it? Just explained it to me? Like I'm an idiot. I don't Understand yes, the day a chief diversity, belonging inclusion, whatever that like branding, you've given that person the day that person is listed as an Neo in a proxy. Filing is the day. It's an effect was ever a thing. What America does Walmart exist in where black people women gay. People are all of them don't exist, which part of the American Corner, they finding this. So here's the question for this game show. Go ahead which is really, oh, yeah, really a game. I play everyone's gonna be playing this at home soon. Um, am I thankful or not for this? I have to say I'm thankful for this. I have to I am thankful for their for their honesty. Look, the reality is we knew this is what I'm tired of. Yeah. In in 2015, 16 17, you and I would like, talk about and then in 2019, when we launched free float, we will talk about all the time, how we hated, like, how ESG got misused Gene washing, we'd be making fun of companies who would go out there and say, Here's a Dei program, we would literally tear it to shreds and make fun of it. It's not, it was never sincere. Yeah, right. It was never since here. Now in 2024, we're looking at these things and we're like, oh my God, what is the world coming to these companies hate? You know, people of color or gay people? They're not supporting anybody, but they never did. That's true. Oh, is saying what we all knew? And frankly, the conservatives are right about any company that's flipping on. This didn't care. In the first place they if you were willing to set up a whole foundation and call it the center for racial Equity, they set up a non-profit and and ostensibly funded at least some are part of it. And then close it before you even got close to the five-year Mark, which was your goal of opening. It, I mean, this is just too much, it's just comedic at that point. Are you just signaling? We are inauthentic about everything and I think you're right that this is not the like the Harley Davidson Lowe's Tractor Supply. They're all nothing Burger compared to. If Walmart does it it is cloud. Cover it's over for any other retailer to just be like, well, well forget it. We don't have to do it anymore. I don't have the data to support this, like, I could look it up for next show. I believe it was actually Walmart back in the day, like 2010, 2008 area that they were the ones who started to implement certain governance changes. I remember that, that took up like, like, getting rid of Declassified, but just do little things like that. Adding an independently director that actually did influence, the rest of the S&P. Hundred, they were making very mature decisions for a long time. So the great irony is they didn't really matter either because I suppose class company owned by the Walton family. That is not changing. Yeah. Well that didn't change. Yeah. We and and we have seen that the first a lot of the first companies rolling back Dei are either companies that are that think that it's only customer base are Trump supporters, right? Yeah. Why. Yeah. Or companies that are controlled by a family who are just like, don't care like a Ford family. Right? The Ford family. Yeah, I think this is actually a good thing because wow, once once they give Cloud covered everybody else, What you should watch for is not who you turn, but who doesn't we should actually look at the opposite because those are the companies, like even Jamie dimon was like, I'm not woke, but we're not getting rid of our diversity programs. Like this is a competitive Advantage, so you all just need to shut his New York City. But yeah, but the fact that like, and I am, no Jamie dimon apologist. But the fact that at least some people are saying This we are and we implemented it, right? We meant it and we're going to do it. So, get over it. Well, I will say this, I will say this. Remember the our biggest complaint about the whole Anheuser-Busch disaster with the with the Bud Light campaign. It wasn't even, it wasn't even an ad campaign. They just gave a can one gave a can of shitty beer to one trans person in the whole thing, blew up. But Jaguar we talked about Jaguar. Last week. Jaguar is in, you know, I guess the 0 people from the Trump Maga world to own Jaguars are upset because an add references, a gay person. I don't, I don't even know. But yes, but what? Jack War has done already. Unlike and has her Bush which fired people fired. The people who created The Campaign apologized to the to the Kid Rock. So the world Jaguars doing what you're saying? Matt and they're they're holding their ground saying, go to hell basically like where this is ridiculous. I mean, for Jaguars case, to your point, it's not exactly like they have market share risk, right now. That's true. But at least they're not, like, Kid Rock, went out back and shot his Jaguar, but at least, but in her Bush did was worse. They approved decision. They approved lots of decisions at higher levels but then just fired the people and then fired the beneath them for cover. Yeah, yeah. I I it's not that I like this. It's that I like what it means. Okay. It means that really hard of greenwashing. This is your game that was always there. That's true. Is now just we're just being on about, we really could give a shit. And when you get deep into it, you can face out Supplier Diversity Program winding down the center for racial Echo. Why, why do we have a really did that? Anyway, I don't like that. Like, if you can Phase something out in a press statement. That means you didn't really implement it and integrate it, how many things does a business have to do to actually make change, right? Like so if you wanted to bring on a diverse Supply Group of suppliers, either a, you are already doing it or B you have to set up huge programs and think about it and actually activate this, you have to ask questions and questionnaires, you have to have to have processes to do these things. Unwinding it is not sending out a press release being like Oh we can just unwind that, right? Like that means you didn't really do it, doesn't it? It all means you do not real about it in the first place. All, I know, is this reminds me of the warring Christmas because I I someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas. I have I still haven't seen the war on Christmas. I haven't still haven't seen any part of America where Christmas doesn't exist. And so while Mart saying that they're only doing this because they want to represent all of them America. Yeah. Okay so white people aren't winning. At Walmart that's a thing. Okay. Sure. Okay congratulations. I'm thankful for this because let's move on, people can win and it's true. That's the big story. That's the big story of the week. Unfortunately, the next category is luddites unite. So we started in the Dark Ages. We're up to the luddites, I like what I like, what and these two are for you. I know I actually picked these because I know you appreciate these kind of stories. First headline ransomware attack leaves Starbucks using pens and paper to track employee hours. I love that pens. And papers. Where do they even get it? Did they get it? How are they going to figure this out? I don't know how they're gonna If you have five employees Matt, how are they going to differentiate who worked with hours? I don't get, I don't understand. Imagine how if, like, all five employees were named John Smith. You're totally screwed. Like I love this. I love it. Also. Thanks to this. Yeah. Your top two stories are Walmart and Starbucks both of whom Brian Nichol on the board of oh Brian Nichols CEO Starbucks. Yeah I plan to that way. That way for a reason you so you're giving things to that you like using all I love it. I love pens and paper should be everywhere. Everybody she's pens and paper and speaking of Bloods this is like I think you're gonna love this one too. This kind of goes along with your your love of the stories about cargo companies. Cargo ships using the wind sails to help. I know, it's odd to think there's a lot of wind over the oceans alone. How about this headline? New York City's underground. Steam system may be key to a Greener future. There are hundreds, there are hundreds of miles of steam pipes below Manhattan, delivering low, carbon vapor, and they're saying that, they're, that more buildings are going to happen to this. How about that steam? Wow, somebody realized that there was like a lot of energy in pipes that's actually underneath New York City of? Yeah. It's like they figure this out in like 1,000 BC. Did they figure it out? This is amazing. I love that. I'm thankful for that. I'm thankful. Somebody was like, Hey guys, do you notice that the amount of steam that's coming out of this great? As I walk over it we should use that. I like that. Okay. How about this next one? This is from the I got a bunch from the drugs category. America loves its drugs that live retail fast food social media. They love all kinds of drugs here in America. First one is a Kohl's, Kohl's is a is a department store. Yeah, sure. Kohl's CEO to depart after less than two years at the helm. So maybe this is, maybe this is a glass Cliffs scenario. Matt Cole, CEO. Tom Kingsbury is stepping down to be replaced. By former Wal-Mart executive, who has been the CEO at Michael's companies Ashley Buchanan, except there's one problem. Ashley is actually a man. Oh, there we go. So I trick it is a trick. I tagged the story because I thought, oh, here's a glass, Cliff scenario, CEO scenario for us to analyze because certainly this, this woman is gonna have a hard time at Kohl's because nobody wants to go to Kohl's. But then as I was doing a little bit of extra research I realized that you know, it actually is actually a dude. So um, that's another Walmart or so, so far. Is there any like in New York City? Is there? Anybody from Walmart? Who just noticed the steam because it does seem like we've got Walmart, Walmart board member Kohl's ex Walmart person. And then maybe somebody from Walmart like, steam is you at least you all Walmart show. You did reference, our favorite air bag, gas bag, Jamie dimon. He is headquartered in Manhattan where all the steam is. So okay, do you think he's not? So, I don't know if you want to. I don't know if you want to give. Thanks for the new CEO at Kohl's. How do you feel about this being? No, I'm not gonna give. Thanks for this. I don't like being tricked by people. Yeah, Ashley. It's a UK named really. It's like you came in male name, more than the US and I'm not thankful for it because it does make us who are looking for instances and which women are put in positions of failure. It makes it harder for us to spot them at a glance. So I'm not thankful for that. Uh Ashley Buchanan. Let's see if who. Where else Ashley's maybe maybe Ashley does serve on the board. Macy's this Macy's couch. She was the CEO of Michael sits on the board of Macy's. Is that Walmart adjacent to you? Is that close enough? Macy's know, but I did just see Macy's had like a big accounting error to. So one one person, what they're blaming one employee, providing over 150 million dollars, right? Like hiding was the earning sir. It was. Yeah. It was like payments to Supply's or like some sort of expense and expenses. Yes. But the funny part about it is they all. So in the statement at Macy's said, this will have no material impact on our financial statement that already hide. They delayed the statements though, but you can hide 150 million dollars and then say that it's, it doesn't really matter. Nothing Burger. So that that means like they didn't hide it or they did hide it or they just kept it to the cells for a little while. Like how is it possible that you hide 100 one person hid? 150 million dollars of money that they paid but they didn't pay or they. What? I just love we we look at CEO pay. We look at named executive officer pay all the time. I love when a company can just blame like one random employee and and that person's boss. We don't blame the person's boss. I don't notice. It was just blames Gus who just says, like hiding in the corner and like, you love God and putting a bunch of cash in boxes and hiding. It beneath the Christmas tree. Oh, I don't even know. I do love Gus. Yeah. All right. So let's move on. We're staying in our drugs category. This is in our oil companies. The headline drill baby. Drill is unlikely under Trump Exxon says oh, you know, you know who we should trust. Yeah. What Exxon says why do you think exons doing this? So they're saying that the US will not raise output significantly in the coming years despite calls for more you know drill baby drill out of the Trump. This is the second thing we've seen from Exxon on the last few weeks pushing back on on Trump here. Why do you think exons doing this? Axon is it's a commodity, right? So they're just gonna follow the price and they're hedging the Bell. Like look if they drill it. All right, now the price of oil goes down and they make less money right. Like okay. So I'm just think they're far. I so they're just kind of appeal to their, I don't know what they're doing. They're gonna who are they appealing to? I should probably get rid of their Dei program is what I'm yeah. There we go. Finally you go. I'm not because for this because it feels lying my sense of the corporate world now is that if you offend someone who voted for Trump by saying like we're not going to drill baby drill then they're going to come after your Dei program. Right that's right. Yeah that's how this has been working. What that's that's a casualty I think exons willing to part with yeah unfortunately okay so you giving thanks to that one or no no I'm not giving thanks for anything except says or does next one are drugs. Category McDonald's has been in the news a lot recently a headline that happened just Last week was that McDonald's to invest more than 100 million dollars to speed up recovery after E? Coli outbreak, which really means they're gonna put out a lot of ads saying, like, don't think about that anymore. Keep eating here. I think that's what that really means. Yeah. Doesn't that what's recovery recovery is, like, how helping people pretend that? Like nothing? There's nothing bad about eating McDonald's, recovering the money, because people didn't, like, people were sick, right? Like they're recovering. That's the recovery. I just wanted to be sure I suppose but here's the headline that but for this show mcdonnell's gets into gift-giving with limited time to Toy Happy Meal. Oh, my thankful for, why is this in just right? I just I just love all things McDonald's. Yeah, it's kind of just I'll say that to my I I was away at some point. My wife took the kids one time and their entire lives. They've been to McDonald's one time. Wait till they get a driver's license. They went, they ate something there. They said they felt disgusting afterwards, and they never went back. My wife. Like, the next time I was away. She's like, girls. Do you want to like, get McDonald's? I go away like once every six months, so it's not like that often and they were like, absolutely not. Let's get fish one. Wait till they get in high school. Like this. Yeah, they stick to that in high school. I'll be very impressed really mostly because it's 90 year pressure to get like you know pressure that like you're the trade-off is I will feel terrible, but be full. Then that's usually the trade-off of high school kid makes. I and I, I want to point out. The McDonald's is one of the few companies that has a very strong negative gender influence Gap, despite not being in control company, they have a minus 17% influence, gap on their board, which is pretty high for company. Where there's not like one man who runs everything. I just want to point that out. Yeah, that's nice. Yeah, good. So me, I'm not thankful for this nothing for that. All right. Why would I be thankful that they're speeding up the recovery from the, they should have a permanent two toy, Happy Meal two limited time. Two toy Happy Meal? Yeah, Two toys isn't that took up the recovery? That's because the what they recognize which is genius is that toothy kids will want to go to McDonald's and you can't avoid the E coli. It too, here's another big one. Here's another big one. There are drugs category social media. This is this is, this is just crazy. Okay, the headline is meta tiktok Google, slam Australia, Australia's under 16, social media ban, so under the proposed law, which they think is going to pass because they have people on the left and right, who support this Australians under 16, years of age will be prohibited from setting up accounts on all major social media sites, and it doesn't matter if the parents, give them permission, it doesn't matter, okay? So this is how tech tech firms are. We are reacting, the tech firms are urging caution and more research about about this law, okay? So for instance, tiktok is saying that this legislation is rushed Meta. And Google are both saying you, it's important for Australia to wait and, you know, to figure out if this is a good idea, ex is calling a alarming. All the tech companies are warning that the laws could also damage. The mental health of young Australians if they're rushed through. So they're they don't want, they don't want to actually make any to rush anything through. We don't want to, we don't want to rush anything through math. That that's not properly research that we have figure out the laws behind this slowdown, Australia, just slow down. I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding. They're all saying this exact language. I can hear the song slow down. Did anyone mention that this is China's fault? Somehow don't go into founder motor Australia. Yeah, give us. Time to study this. So wait, which of my thankful for the fact that they're passing the law or they're slamming the law. Are you giving Thanksgiving? Thanks to anything. You can give thanks to Australia. You could give thanks to maybe give thanks to the prude. The Prudent and wise, CEO, Founders who think maybe this is too much, maybe maybe you're 15 year old deserves to be on. Today's great. That Elon Musk is currently talking about cutting every government like institution in this country but stupid is slow down Australia. You don't want to pass a single rush into. This is what this is multi-part. I'm thankful for the law and Australia. I'm not thankful for the fact that the fines are only up to 50 million Australian. That is basically a parking ticket, Google like 50 million Australian is 30 million us? Is that per, is that per person? Like, how is that? What? I don't know, but it's not per person. Then then like, if it's like, Violation. I don't know. That's not seemed great. I wish it was like 100 billion dollars. I just want to reiterate something on there. I want to read it. One thing meta, said, meta, and Google said it was important for Australia, to wait until a national trial of age. Verification, technology was completed before passing the bill quote, in the absence of such results neither industry, nor Australians will understand the nature or scale of age Assurance required by the bill. Nor the impact of such measures on Australians. This is meta. Yeah, talking about worried about the impact on society, if you know should, yeah. They should actually have oversight Board needs to investigate this. That's, that's really maybe Mark Zuckerberg can hire Australian lawmakers elected officials. He can put them on some board and yeah, and they can look at this and then they can pay them to make the right decision. That's right. I mean, just this is this one gets me, I don't know. This one takes the cake for me. I they are they are the founder. The founder mode crazy of the western world are asking people to get close to the end of the year. Yeah. I actually have a prediction going into next year that this is Peak founder mode right now. Oh yeah. Absolutely. I think we're going into next year. No more founder mode. It's not cool anymore. He saying it's it's oh I'm saying its peak even though even though you're handing to the two loudmouth, founders of our age of ramaswami. Elon Musk. You're handing them the red pen to delete government programs. As soon as people start to feel what it means to cut. I hope you're right. I hope I think people will lose their minds and founder mode starts to disappear. That's what I think. So you're saying that you should have qualified people making measure decisions based on research and Prudence, I didn't say that's what's gonna happen. I said founder mode we've hit Peak founder mode, that's long again longer. Clear, we don't want to rush into anything. We don't want to because I don't be harmful for teenagers to take away their Instagram. It might be harmful to take it away, mental health, implications of just figure it out from bigger. Yeah, that's what I said about drugs. Like, we need to like, yo, I take that audacity heroin away from you, I don't know what it's going to do to your mental health. So yeah, all right, so you give me thanks to something here. I'm giving thanks to Australia. Right. It's incredible. It's incredible law. I I hope it works well because it my it might have a bit of a domino Europe is next. It's not gonna happen in the US but you're okay. Let's move to the Future and then we can end like ridiculous show. These are, I don't know. I don't know how you feel about these. The first one. The first headline is airpods, that never need charging. These researchers just found a way to use your body as a charger. oh, the new technology works by transforming the human body into a power, delivery medium. So, sort of like in The Matrix when like people are in those pods and they suck the energy out of the human body. I mean, what it's yes, what it sounds like to me is that we're we're getting really close to becoming cyborgs, right? I mean we're the human body is, is the very beginning stages, of transforming know. I mean, what it sounds like to me is wearing Australia, they're saying turn that shit off and pay attention to the real world. You're in the United States, they're saying put in earbuds, so you can't hear the real world and they never die. Like you only ever have to interface with your phone and the thing and your ears and not to mention charge for it on any technology. I mean, yes, that that your body is a transmitting power Across the Skin. That doesn't matter. We're not going to study that long term. Let's just do it because it's cool because charging your earphones. Takes 10 minutes and it's fucking annoying. Right? So we have to, I've got to do this. We gotta do. I want to be careful here. Is there an application in, which I like, take a USB that I plug into my sweatshirt and plug it into the car. And by doing a dance routine, can charge my car. It's kind of. So I don't want that not to be the reality, because that's a pretty good reality. So, nice to this, I am going to not give, thanks to this. I don't take the earbuds out. And finally, for the November 26th 2024, the the business pants, Thanksgiving special game, where Matt is either giving thanks or not giving. Thanks, I say this last one for you, Matt. The headline is vegan cheese market. Expected to grow to nearly nine. No, he's not. Give way but you are. You are our alternative cheese hero or you don't eat alternative cheese. I thought you, I thought you had. I am lactose intolerant, but cheddar has no lactose. Oh, I just eat another loophole, another. That's what, guess? What, if cheddar have lactose in it? I would not eat cheese. I don't want fake versions of a thing. I want the thing. There's plenty of food out there. People, I got to get the fake thing. My brother is a very strange began in the sense that he will break his rules to eat pizza, okay? And he that's understandable and he made us a cheesecake and we last week and it was delicious and I thought, wow, this this beat this. Like what's the difference? This is amazing. And then my mom tells me over the weekend that he also will eat real. Cream cheese in cheesecakes. So that's why, that's why I don't want that. That's why I was delicious. It was real cream cheese. Yeah, because it was over. All right, I thought you were gonna like that. I thought we're gonna end this show. Now the holiday season on a high. But no, no, I got a segment for you. Oh, and I'm sorry. I prematurely and I'll show you information about the Walmart decision to get rid of its Dei program. So I, this is a new segment for me. Okay? So bear with me because I don't know how this work. Yeah. You don't have a choice, but to stay here. But here's what we're gonna do. This segment is called This week's portrait in corporate patriotism. Okay. I think we need to celebrate corporate Patriot's more. I don't think we do it enough, the sun's tongue and cheek but I'm okay with that, nothing's tongue in cheek. I'm very I'm let's go celebrate, some corporate patriotism. Here's who I want to celebrate this week. We're gonna celebrate. Greg Penner. Greg Penner portrait and corporate patriotism portrait and corporate patriotism. He's the chair of the Walmart board. And this is because Walmart, like, I'm giving thanks to this week, is walking back their Dei initiatives because frankly Walmart, Greg Penner, you're right. Everyone should get their jobs on, Merit, not from some affirmative action, bulshit or some training program or just because your Dei or whatever, this is what meritocracy looks like Penner himself. Was Mary critic enough to marry Rob Walton's daughter to get himself. This chair role is that, right? I didn't realize that he co-owns the most American and patriotic thing that you can possibly own an NFL team, the Denver Broncos. He co-owns it with his wife who bought it using the Walton money. That's there's this is true. Everything I'm saying is fact, this is the meritocracy, this is 100. This is what they mean. This is what they mean by the mayor talks started, the Penner Foundation, to give back to the community with his wife's grandfather's money. He strongly believes in education. Wait, he donated. Yeah I was gonna say. Is that is that Foundation gonna remain? So they're winding down the center for racial equity and the first thing in the center for racial Equity, as part of walmart.org is the first area that they cover is education that down. They're winding down the racial Equity part but not the Penner foundation. So right here, Says right here on the job upskilling and non-degree credentials to help working adults, get a better start Foundation does know. Okay, Walmart whining that down. They're Wilding. They're winding that down the foundation named after Greg. Penner, who married a Walton? Yeah, that Foundation. That's staying that's staying and they gave in 2023, 40 5% of their grants in 2023 went to Brown University. Where his kids happened to go. Are you serious to Brown University? One of the biggest endowments in the world, right? No, just his kids to go there. They wouldn't have given they would give it probably anyway to Brown. His kids, just happened to go there. Currently silly me, silly me thinking, like when you say educational grants, I was thinking like you know Public elementary schools in Missouri or something? No. No, they gave 13 million dollars to Brown. Yeah. Eight million of Which was to create the new indoor. Turf electricity. You're throwing me all of this is true. Oh, I did all this research, this is sad. You kids are hardworking athletes at Brown. They didn't get on the teams because their parents paid for the new facility. They got on because of skill. That is how meritocracy Works. In fact, his daughter earned her internship at her mom's Venture forum. She earned that internship. She didn't get it because she was, this is true. Her daughter. His daughter has an internship a Walton's Venture forums. That is true. Yeah, that's she did that last year. Look, these are true Patriots who celebrate meritocracy, not Dei initiatives. Thank you Greg Penner for standing up to the Dei, woke mob and standing for something like meritocracy because frankly without you we wouldn't know what meritocracy looked like. That's and can I say before if anyone is going to listen to the show and talk about Walmart, getting rid of its Dei program or whatever. That's not older doing. I'm gonna repeat, what else they're doing. No longer allowing third-party sellers to sell some lgbtq themed items. Stop sharing data with the Human Rights Campaign winding down the center for racial Equity phasing out Supplier, Diversity programs. They're hiding behind this Robbie Starbucks Dei. I think they're doing a lot more than that. Let's just let the record be clear. I just want to say Walmart has is it's not a place for people to sell things that don't Merit products, right? Like like if you're a gay person maybe you don't Merit a product. That's what meritocracy now. I understand. Yeah. So that's what Greg that's not the right that's what he stood up for and I have an honorary Patriot this week. Which is a second, Walmart board, member, Brian Nichol. Who I already mentioned, who's that CEO of Starbucks and a Walmart board member, he's actually a double Patriot because not only is he the CEO Starbuck's and on the board of Walmart. But he also he stood up against Dei on the board of Harley Davidson. That's right. Remember, Walmart just wants to represent all of America. That's their quote, all of America. That's all great. Penner wants all of the board, that's all he wants. Not just Malcolm X's, rotting corpse, all of America, they want to represent that's our show. That hazelnut Rallis, I'm your analyst home at Ms. Carter, we are free float. We won't be here again this week because we're not doing Friday show. I'm free. Yeah, maybe we do Friday, but probably nobody cares Thanksgiving. I got family in town so I probably won't talk to you at all. But next week, we'll be back with even more nonsense, more till more patriotism. I hope more Corporation all nothing but Patriot's here until next week. Goodbye.
