Transcript

It's Friday. And we are live and alive. Fairies copy. This is are the data Queen joined by analysts? All Matt mascardi, Jesse the money whisper and hazelnut roles It's like he's like I'm already today. You were just like Ron Burgundy you put it on the prompt or he can't help but read it. You just hosted your own words on today's weekly wrap up 2024 predictions. So in order of our horrible predictions from 2023 where we're basically got everything wrong, we're gonna get this another shot. I and I I actually did not peek other people's predictions. I don't, I don't really, I'm excited here. Okay, Jesse after I wrote mine he's the only peeker. My guess is that we did these all at a different way which I'm also excited about. I'm hoping that that the three of you don't have as many as I do because I don't know how to edit my own brilliant but let's just get going. I'm gonna do this in no particular order I know? Just because I'm first it seems like I'm most important but it's really everyone knows us. Well, it's true. Okay, so I'm gonna go first. All right, so I grouped mine into three distinct categories for no reason. I'm just gonna start and there's aren't even ordered in any reason for any. Real particular reason I'm gonna start with big data. I don't know why, but I love to have a few Tech predictions. First up an Anti-Trust case out of the EU hits a US tech company really hard. Caught causing either some momentum for a spin-off or maybe even shut down its operations and EU jurisdiction. I think I picked this, I think I picked this every year to be frank. I, I think I predicted this last year for meta. So I'm gonna put up back on the table, maybe it's alphabet. I, I still keep thinking that eventually. The EU is gonna annoy someone so much that they're gonna either have to sell Instagram or YouTube. Like I keep thinking it's coming. That's that's my wash, rinse. Repeat got it. Yeah, and I and let's not We're Not Gonna rate these this year. I'm whether you guys laugh or Boo or make fun of them out? That'll be the rating. You can do whatever you want. Okay. Yeah. That's a good idea. Pick your favorite from. All right, that one. Okay, up next, apple develops a game-changing AI product. Oh, or maybe more or maybe a car. Oh okay. You know, the thing about about Apple is that they made a car, wouldn't everybody buy that stupid car? We're just talking about. Why would they do that? Why would they do that bug to the office? And just saying my ass or maybe the early speaking about this? Everybody says that Damian boo. Oh, they do my other thoughts that maybe they get into sports, how come Apple doesn't do Sports? And then I thought maybe they combine all three, maybe they create a meta AI car that permanently shows NBA games. That's my prediction and you can While driving, they're already talking about on this on the sports side. The Vision Pro basically allowing you to immerse yourself at a game so you don't go right. I mean I actually don't hate that because they're so astronauts. Only Elites can go, I mean, but the Vision Pro is 4000 dollars. So exactly, now for now for the moment it'll come down and 3,400 is is technically still a thousand dollars, it's just subsidized by phone carriers, right? So I could change, it could change my third prediction in Big Data is that AI Insurance. Wait a minute, wait a minute that last prediction was just Apple does a thing that's really all. I just want to be sure that I got that right. Give me a break, a big thing, a big I said a game changer, I said a game changer people not a thing, the metaverse considered Game Changer when it came out and is it anymore? No. Okay. I mostly I just want to be clear. I mostly predicted this because I was annoyed at seeing all the people saying, that Microsoft was gonna overtake Apple this year, and everyone was so happy about Sam Altman, being back, and it just triggered me. So I want to vote for Apple. All right. My next big data prediction is that AI Insurance. The AI insurance industry becomes a thing. This is a real, this might be his first. I don't get it. Explained it to me, I think, because of the and I'm specifically blaming deepfakes. I have a deep fake prediction in my ESG section, but but deep fakes are going to become so horrible this year that I just think that look insurance doesn't know how to ensure real life. Things anymore you. We've detail that's problems and Texas and Florida. So I think this is the next the next place for today. Yes, thank you in Florida. It's that the, the actual administration's don't want to anything to be insured. If there's a black person that works at the insurance company, right? Like, it's all the Dei or anti ESG. Anti-climate change thing, Texas passed. Law that said you cannot consider environmental factors in underwriting insurance. If you in one life for one company, if you don't do it for another company. So that means, when you're insuring say an oil refinery, that's on the coast. Your insurance premiums cannot include environmental factors. If you're insuring another oil refinery not on a coast, right? Like that's basically what they're saying in Texas, which is stupid. So, I think he's agreeing with me. I think this is a way of green. This is a great. This is actually a good prediction, AI insurance. I like my last two are, I'll go quickly and even bigger cybersecurity Scandal. Well, are you better one? I think I do this one every year too. I think this is the year that people pay attention to some cybersecurity attention like put Security Professionals on their board. I don't know, Jesse. But the clerks one I thought was really important and I was Still the only one who cared about it, right? Yeah, I just I like that. This is, this is the year. Someone pays attention, could you could just these are these are these. And finally, I predicted I don't say Generative AI in any show other than this one, probably. Because I don't even, I don't even know what it means. Pronounce it, but I'm never gonna say contagious. You have a lot of shows so that's good. Shows are my next category is China. What's gonna happen? Just just China. I was waiting for Applause. Shut China because you know what? Matt I'm looking at you specifically what happened in China like we didn't talk about China last year. What happened? Look sad. I'm just I like China from 2016 to 2020. Trump made China Maybe And then to tiktok too but Zach took the mantle in 2020, 21 and then tiktok took the mantle in 2022, I try to ban it vary, but China is coming back and so I feel I feel like China's coming back and here's my prediction, just for tiktok my very specific prediction is that something crazy and fun happens in China? My thought is that by D, which is the EV car company that is overtaking Tesla. As the number one, EV car company in the world gets under Elan Skin so much that he actually starts a war with America's favorite cuddly. Teddy bear. Warren Buffett because Buffett owned 8% of byg, you know, notice he doesn't own this, nearly the same in Tesla, which results in any, which results in one of them, having a heart attack, I think, either Elon or warrants have a heart attack and 2020, which one we are. Okay, here first, I'm not going to say which one I'm hoping I'm just saying that one of them goes down because of the China. EV Wars that's my child. So, this prediction is actually multiple China on there. A lot going on there. Someone says China more in 2020. Yes. Yes, let's go. Let's go to my ESG predictions. This is the, this is the category where I really shine. My I love. I love my ESG predictions. They always come, right? They're the best. Let's start with. I had to give e and s a little bit of, you know, a little bit of love, right? He'll start with E. I think there's gonna be a high profile assassination at cop 29 and Azerbaijan and 2024. That's my prediction for ease. Yes, actually invented by John. Yes. But that's not the point. I don't care about cup 28. I just think cup, 29. I just think it's, I just think tempers are gonna boil over. We're gonna have some. I don't know if it's going to be a CEO. I don't know if it's gonna be a world leader. I don't know. I hope it's not great at tomb Burger, but something's gonna happen there. Cops, 29, S and S. I think everyone's probably gonna make some kind of Predictions for all media Outlets, but I think that Matt I'm gonna make a media, a prediction here that probably won't come true, but I'm going to do it anyway, a unionization walkout finally happens at an office space company. So I had like a Facebook Airbnb, you know some kind of like the Nerds, the Nerds get together and they fight. I actually had a prediction that I deleted that started with this unionization effort at a tech company. Specifically. All right, that's the same and but ended with and it's the death of the unionization ever. So like I was, I think we're at Peak unionization. That's what he said last year. No, I said earlier this year, I said after the UAW win. That was the peak. That's it. That's where top 20 UAW. That's where it was. There's no, the, there's no way that like, after beating the car companies and beating UPS to get air conditioners that the momentum carries Forward Forever. Okay for your section. I think this is for your section. Okay, so I'm gonna say that one and I will say that I'm saying where you're slightly right. Unfortunately, I think the, the movement I actually think it increases in 2024, but but you're right. Matt, the, the actual like, for whole numbers Workers signing on to Union, it's flat. Yeah yeah unfortunately peeked out and finally I'll get to my G prediction. This is my ESG prediction to my corporate governance predictions. First of all Rupert Murdoch dies and we get to witness a real life succession scramble because let's not forget Upon Rupert's death, all the voting shares for News Corp and fox score. Go immediately over to his four oldest children, Prudence Elizabeth Lachlan and James. So this is a scenario where a tie Could Happen. A three to one. Vote could happen where Lachlan loses out because Lockland is the jerk took over Fox News. So I think this year we get to Witnesses yeah this year we get to witness the glory of the real life succession happening. Here's what I would be upset about. Yeah I would be upset if he has six children and it only goes to the four oldest ones. Again, where's Chloe Murdoch? Is that a real thing? There is a real thing up. Maybe. She's like Maybe she's super young. I like how much focusing on the 182 affiliated with haha? Well, the they should, then just because if they had a voting power here, they could take down, Fox News, maybe. All right. My second, two against four. Well, I'm saying if you had six and those two were liberals, they would be, but there doesn't matter. They're not part of it. It's just the four oldest children. Well Doc is 21. Let's move on. Oh no, no pieces that are like Tiffany Trump's situation. You just don't, you know, my second prediction for corporate governance is that BP British Petroleum BP surprises, everybody. And hires and Asian Pro ESG CEO know, I wish I had to fix the booth and never gonna wait for it. This is a two-pronged prediction, and then because of this Shell, Shell steps in to buy BP, after share his tank, So that's my crazy, BP prediction. If the first prediction has the second addiction is like lie but there's no way my third corporate governance prediction is that some of we finally have an executive three predictions a c-suite jump someone a chair of Human Resources. So many Justice because they're brilliant and they're important. I when you had said you had so many. I was like, oh there's only three bullet was one a chief of Human Resources officer finally jumps to a CEO. Know, it's spoiler alert, spoiler alert before it's a man spoiler. Not. Yeah, well, that okay then. Do we have our first male glass? Cliff, it's a question, has it happened? We've had that we already tell me. Yeah. Oh we I we covered it a story this year where there was a male glass Cliff that we found and I can't remember which are I don't not from HR that's one other like HR executive that I saw as a CEO. In fact, I was, we were just did the proxy countdown. We did yesterday. Go get the proxy countdown. Yeah. Great show. Um, one of the board members, I believe started in HR before becoming the CEO of a company. Now, retired, now on the Walgreens board, a few more predictions because I know ours getting sleepy a deep fake Scandal rocks a boardroom that we don't have to go into depth on that one. But that's my I can't wait for that to happen. This is pretty like like pretty obvious really. Okay, that's okay. But maybe like a Kimball musk a deep fake Kimball musk says something horrible. I like this one and no. One cares Nelson. My it's a 93% vote that year. My next prediction is just because of the noise means Nelson, pelts wins, just to just to make me feel and you're talking about Disney, right? That Disney though, following the contest at Disney and if only, I'm gonna end my predictions, my 400 predictions with a big Disney prediction is my big Disney prediction. I think this is a glorious prediction here. Do you remember remember Kev doll, Kevin Maher? Kev doll Kev mayor? He was one. He was the beautiful white man. Who was gonna replace the beautiful white, man. That is the CEO. Bob Iger. Big chisel guy, big muscles, big strong chin. Okay, so here's my friction. My bridge is that he re-emerges to be the boomerang ex-boyfriend CEO savior. He comes back to Disney. He takes over from Bob Oger. And this is why I think this happens because he is now the co-founder of a company called candle media, which is black back by Blackstone. He co-founded it with Thomas Staggs, who was another guy, who was supposed to maybe take over for Disney. Staggs is a director at Spotify, this candle media, they've already acquired content companies. One of them that owned Owned by Ruth Reese Witherspoon. They've one of them Children's Entertainment Company. That's a big player in La. A big Media Company startup. I think Kev doll comes back to Disney to say Disney. Let me tell you what I like about this prediction which is really Thomas Staggs, get passed over again. As no Disney, no, no, Thomas, tags. Comes back. He's gonna be exact chair. See, oh somebody, they're gonna come back to gonna, it's like a buddy. Come here to do, but Kev doll. Kevin Maher will be the CEO. Staggs will be an important role and part of it is that maybe the it starts by Disney buying candle media, I don't know. But but this is how this is gonna happen, you know, I did, I'm in the middle of reading Disney World. The book about Michael Eisner and like the run up to Igor taking over Disney and Eisner complains about Bob Iger being too good looking for the job of, that's it needs. This America wants a white big chin. Dude, they love Mad Men. They love that guy and Mad Men. Come on, this is a dream come true. Okay, I know we're not voting but can we Good one quick. One of these. That is any good. Like any good. Look at my 17. Yes, that's it. The boring one. Jesse, I think that's Can go. I'm I'm torn between Commando and AI Insurance one. Come on, let's go. I'll do Rupert Murdoch. Just for the like, oh Murdock dies. Wow. That's that's gonna be a fun succession Story. Come on. Um, I'm also going AI insurance industry. So that's that's my big winner because I have a better Disney prediction than Damian. Oh, better Union. Prediction, speaking of better in general better than that. Better succession prediction, then Damian. Oh Next the Great data Creamery for her 2024 predictions. Listen listeners. If you're still with us, it gets better. Oh, stop it. Stop it. I'm like, I'm like the msci 2024. What's that paper called, Matt. The trans to watch? I used to like, the Transformers. I'm Trends to watch personified. That's what. That's what Henry, Fernandez used to say to me, when he passed me in the hall. Yeah, which never happened. I have four predictions. Go ahead. That's four categories that are just one prediction each. Yeah. I have a union prediction board to watch for turnover of most fun Eastgate and then a random prediction excited Union and you talked about this a little bit, but I think 2024 will be a headliner year for workers across the tech industry. Forming unions were collective bargaining power, just say that. Okay, so you both have the same prediction know I didn't I did I delete my prediction too, right? But we're aligned. So this year right Tech layoffs and 20. Three surpassed 2022 totals, a headline that I saw almost 1200 companies. Laid off 262,000 workers in 2023. Wow that's a lot Amazon with 27,000. Google was 12, K, Mehta with, 21,000 Microsoft was 11 K. Anyway, yeah, lots of people getting laid off, however, this is not what's gonna drive their Union efforts, you know, what will what? Tell us making them go back to the office? Yeah. On pants. Not gonna happen. Not okay. Our kind of a moment to speak to these workers. I, I told Jesse this only I didn't tell everyone else. I, I think, two days ago, I tried for the first time ever. I know no one's gonna believe me, but the first time ever, I wore sweatpants I work remotely here in Portland, Maine, but office, my backyard. I wear sweatpants to work and I I hated it. It was the weirdest. It was like, too comfortable. It was too cozy. It was too glorious. I'm never doing that again. It was a big difference. Did you work remotely before the pandemic happened? Yeah, Matt. Well, when I started. Yeah. Right. I think, what's the difference shift of not wanting to put on pants? Is there people who started like all remote work to be third? Pandemic? To be fair. All right. I had pants on. They were just I like that you're driving the distinction between what Currently wearing, which is the switch Banana Republic. I have a republican jeans on wonderful. Wonderful. Jesus and sweatpants wonders, like way to 34 32 genes. All right, what else are anyway? That's what's gonna happen. Now, bored to watch for turnover excited. Yeah, this is, this is an easy one, though. I picked FedEx. Don't tell me, it's obvious. They are the definition of male and frail well like food frail. I do one very old support that. What's the date out there? We know. Well, they're 10 year actually is like two acts their peers in the industry. Wow. So they've been there for a long time. They're age is also the average age of their board. Yeah this is where we call the data. When you see how easily she can put two wax into a sentence. I mean, that was glorious. Come on. Listen, so with the exception of the two most recent board members who were added after activist From De Shaw, like, put in two people and the CEO. With the exception of those people, everybody else has been there forever. And there's a big thing for FedEx coming. In June of this year, they decided to merge their for like, FedEx companies, like aircraft transport, like, whatever. That is all merging, that started in 2022. It will be completed by mid-year this year. I think there's gonna be a lot of issues there. And people are going to look at the board and they're gonna are gonna stop down when you said board to watch. Was it b o r e d or b o? Where's come on this year, okay? And I think it's gonna blow up in their faces. Okay, we have a prediction, the other like last year that was like Coke would sell alcohol and Sierra's would like, shut down or something, which really? Yeah, there was a beaver prediction. She has a random, she has a random this year. Your fingers crossed. I forgot to tell you that UPS is cooking FedEx's. Butt at more like everything. Yeah, everything, the union win now, exactly. Oh, this is another good one right here, that's bonus. Bonus bonus, Union FedEx is merging all of these business units. They now can get reclassified by the government into whatever classification UPS is under. Oh, so the workers at FedEx, who are for example. The drivers are independent contractors, oh, really? That's why they can't seriously for my union. That's why my tracking number never works. Yes. Whereas you Shameless driving on, you PS workers so they can form a Union against. Wait a minute are you think shame on you Fred Smith. He wasn't even the guy who wanted to fight Elizabeth Warren behind of like a gas station founder of FedEx and according to our data, Fred Smith still controls 65% of board influence on the board. Did step down. To the U-Haul. On the boards and he's still on the board. Yeah, that's why you need our data Ari because it still show how much influence he actually has, right? Anyway, FedEx. Trying to catch up to the century. This one half Board is gonna get left behind. I like this one except that after there was the big like meltdown last holiday season at Southwest. Yeah. Approximately zero board members got a horse. So I always have. I like, look, I think the data is really compelling and I think this is like an aspirational, like prediction in as much as this is exactly what should happen, but investors Perpetually. Let us down that they do not care who's on the board at all, for some reason. It's, you know, along the lines of our of the proxy Compton show. Matt, you're talking about boating out. Stephano Pacino for poor performance Fred Smith, it almost the exact same position. He can control he controls influence. His performance is terrible. He's batting 183 overall 285 in earnings 257, in total Cheryl return. He's terrible him off. No, I don't understand. At least he's the founder of the company. But Stefano pessina is not even that, but we cannot muster vote less than 97%. For these people for investors. He'll still have his shareholdings. He'll still his voice will still be a part of the company. You don't need him on the board. He's not gonna cry. He'll be fine. You go away. I'm just saying you can. Okay. Anyway, go ahead already. I like that. It's changing, go ahead and now my most fun, ESG prediction Do you guys remember when Vince McMahon was named as a risk factor? Yes, it was one of the best filings of the year. It was by the TKO Holdings company, which was the merch, WWE and UFC anyway, I thought that was so magnificent that there's no possible way. Yes, that 2024 ends without Elon Musk appearing as a risk factor. And one of the million companies that he well leads are we sure that's already okay. Is that not already the case man? I don't know. Okay, every every year, are you predict something that's already happened. So yes, that could happen. Here's the better sub prediction like that. Okay. Elon Musk gets named as a risk in some other companies that would just blow my like because he's so many. Things like he says stuff. He like, like he's just like in a total windbag with hundreds of billions of dollars at his disposal. He could actually pose a real risk to companies that have nothing to do with his companies, which would be glorious. Imagine. Okay. So I will say this, there is a risk factor and the Tesla 10K, 2023 10K. That says, one of the risk factors, we are highly dependent on the services of Elon Musk, techno king of Tesla. They're saying because because he's a significant amount of time, elsewhere, is part of the problem that they're admitting that he does not spend enough of his time at. And that's not arrogant Behavior, but it's close. It's close. I mean, they are listening specialty because I do, I want to post this question. Well, Elon Musk be leading. More currently has children. Oh yeah. All right. What else do you have? That's a good. That's a good one and then my random prediction. Hi I just realized I did not but they will rename it too. Okay. What acronym I guess I close know. I think they're going to give it a word because I want they're going to make it like you know you have engineering products marketing and A culture. It's gonna be culture know they have to Chief culture officer know that's be like we have that's gonna be like Achievements or something's black? Yeah. They don't want to get Matt, that's too. That's too much for them. Believe me. It's gonna be a word pleasing to the white man who they don't feel like they're being. Well, it's not gonna be culture, it's not gonna be culture, maybe heritage, heritage is the Southerner? Now. All right, so your four predictions here, are effectively Tech unionizing in 2024. Half FedEx. Is Bored gone FedEx is born. How are they? How are they shareholders, or by resigning or the board kicking them up? How does that part of the predictions truck? Who knows the Vince McMahon the Vince McMahon Clause applies to Elon Musk and Dei is renamed. I'm gonna go with the FedEx one. I I think it's that is by far the best one, it is the one that should happen. I don't, you know, it's such an important year for FedEx. It's 2024 why can't we vote out someone who's 93 years old and been on the board? For 72 years should happen? Doesn't usually happen. Matt, but I'm gonna vote for that one in aspirational, Jesse, you gotta vote here. I like that one, too. Yeah. Well then my vote doesn't matter. The solidarity Ari's prediction for 2024 is that the board at FedEx turns. I would have voted the boring one, which I think is a, but I guess because it allows my her Union prediction. I think you're right. I think, oh, I think this is Fred. I shows AI insurance. I and I like, and I like that your tying it actually to return to office mandates. I because I think flexibility is so important for young workers and I just so I really do like that prediction. All right, let's move moving on, who's up? Oh, Matt mascardi. Yeah. More. Come on. I've got four predictions. I want to be about Kendall. Come on, go ahead. Okay, well here is, I have a CEO turnover prediction which apparently is all the rage right now, okay. I'm predicting that in 2024. There is no CEO turnover what none because every white male CEO becomes executive chair and is replaced with a woman, it's not real CEO turnover. So you're saying that women will become CEOs but the former c will stay as exact chairs all day. It's all fake. So, it's over. It's a Walgreens, it's kind of like a Walgreens. They all announced that like some CEO CEO of x y z is stepping down, but they're not, they're stepping over to Executive chair and all of them make women CEOs. So, here's the background on this, okay. CEO turnover is at its highest point in 2023. Since Russell Reynolds started tracking, the data, 11 percent of CEOs returning, over in 2023 and CEOs, actually, and that's on the back of this story CEOs, don't retire anymore. They quote step Down and become executive chair. Here's the here's the reason why executive chair is so such a sweet deal. The average S&P 500 CEO. This is our data that I'm pulling from mixed in, with some others, the average S&P 500 CEO, they're realized pay in 2022, was 25.2 million, okay, the average that's that's realized pay. That's like what they get and with options and everything. The average CEO work week is about 62 hours per week. Where do you get that? That there's a, there's an academic study of the S P 500 and Russell 1000 about, you know, surveying how much they actually do. If you assume that there are about 50 work weeks in the air, they take two weeks off that they're making about 8,129 per hour in realized pay per year. Not worth it. I know I mean who like why would you even do that? Can't even take a month to spend your Millions. So that's 204 million over the tenure of a CEO 25,000 hours an hour and that's more than a living wage in one day. Yes, eight. Well yeah, in in 40,000 write 45,000 or something in six hours and they are making their basically making, I feel sick. No. Okay. Keep going. The average director, not executive chair, the average director works, the equivalent of 20 work days per year. This is from a director training program that I that I found some data about how much does a director actually work on average. They, they asked to estimated 20 work days per year, assuming a workday is about eight hours, that means is that include the time. It takes to get up from the chair, and go to the table where the bagels are and put a smear on that. They included the orange juice. Pour tomato slice. Yeah they included tying shoes the average S&P 500 directors realized pay hovers around 1 million dollars per year because they're getting options, they're getting options and we're doing realized pay. So just the people we call Independent from the company at 20 work days per year, eight hours a day that's six thousand dollars. An hour that a direct makes. So do the math, you could work 25,000 hours over your 10 year which is for a white male. CEO is 8 years and get 8,000 dollars an hour or conversely. You could work 2000 hours over the 10 year of a director, which a director can take multiple directors ships. So the crude 10 of the average directors, 14 years you can work 2000 hours and make 14 million just to do the math for you. 10% of the hours for 76% of the pay. That's why you become executive chair, you can work 20% of the hours and the executive chairs don't make average director pay they make in the millions of dollars, please like they make effectively executive pay, but for fewer hours and less Hands-On work. Is there any reason? Step down? You step down all day. In fact, Matt we covered a company on the proxy count on yesterday, where this the CEO became the executive chair at synopsys, right? He made he making more money as executive chair. He's Up and his Equity went up. Look, if you want to work Less hours but still allow all your trillions of options and restricted stock units to vest and not like worried about instant vesting and all that stuff plus get an additional salary and some more restricted stock units or options. The best way to do that is to step down. So what is your prediction? Here's the prediction here. Exactly. My prediction is after that have like giving that that first of all we're going to have more women leading S&P 500 companies. Then everyone's impossible doing the hard work. Yeah. Actually doing work. Hey, and more men who were CEOs in 2020, he goes right as as executive chairs and of CEO that's watching over their women. Very nerdy data center specific prediction like that in the spirit of that I'm predicting that Bob. Iger steps down early and 24 executive chair. He 24, Eiger steps down and he's named executive chair again. I actually said that he chooses co-chair of Disney entertainment, Dana Walden as the new CEO setting a stage for a third Boomerang for Eiger in 2020. Well, Dana Walden is a woman and I and I have seen her as a possible successor, so, but I thought you used to be all in on Nike, former CEO at Nike Mark Parker. I don't know about him, but about it actually wouldn't fit the profile. You don't the X another ex CEO do it well, full male who can do it. Well in that CEO, you want that again that you can control before. So, you're executive chair and you keep controlling them just show up as much. Why would he want to keep coming back? I like that. We have a dueling Disney CEO prediction. So it's Kev doll versus versus Dana. Okay. And the second CEO prediction is Brian Cornell who's a CEO of Target Target? Seen their down 5% on the year. It's been a tough year for them. And They've been attacked for all their, you know, because they actually want to sell stuff to gay people and they care about their employees that kind of stuff. He steps down in 2024 comes executive chair and hires Claudine gay inside of six months? Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Well I think I here's how I know you're wrong is that I know for a fact that on The Bu campus, there is a Target on the Boston University campus. But there's not, I don't think there's one on the Harvard campus. So I think this is where it falls apart. Wow. All right, what else you got? All right, my second prediction is a Twitter prediction. Oh okay. Which I don't, I don't want to call X. I know what you're gonna say. I've seen this one everywhere. What is it? Do you? I 2024 is gonna be a yak prediction Linda, yes, fires Linda Yack Arena. Oh, fires her. Okay, I predict that he fires her just publicly fired on Twitter. Oh no saying that she was actually hired as part of a woke mind virus that he was a d e. I hire I like and she if you think about it she actually had no real business being hired. This is your Twitter. You can stop. This is your, this is your prediction. I will be a great year to fire her. It's election year. And she's a woman it's always great to fire. Oh yes, with the fact that truth social the SPAC is failing. It's going to fail in 2024. So Trump returns to Twitter tweets, full-time and Twitter ends up recording as a result record profits in 2024. Because all of the advertisers come back, they come back, the Trump, they come back because Trump is there because like they're they're gonna start paying more as soon as Trump is back on Twitter. Like, it's, it is an election cycle, everyone's got a cover it, which means all the eyeballs. Go back to Twitter, which means Apple's really losing the Vision Pro. Disney's releasing 30 movies, that used to be one of the biggest advertisers, mostly, one of the biggest advertisers used to be. They all have to go back to catch those eyeballs. Now, all of the sudden Twitter is profitable in 2024 like this. What else you got? Finally, I have two sort of ESG predictions. I have one AI prediction. One is that Damian is forced to say, gender. 24. Yeah, why? Because generative, AI generative, AI causes a death, only one, not Auto driving cars. Chat GPT style persuasion causes someone to either commit murder kill themselves. Like we can pin specifically we know that has already happened was because it would have been reported everywhere. But like Amazon warehouse Know, but like, there was, there were like, kids, who killed another kid because of Slender, Man. Do you remember Slender, Man? Slender Man was like a meme about like, yeah, well, it was like one of those Creepy Pasta memes. You remember Creepypasta? Come on now Guys, these aren't old things. These are your generation, not all right. But generally, I was a death. Now, this is where I, I don't think this is going out on a limb, this prediction, but here's how I know you're right. Because there's just a report yesterday, a couple days ago, the hydro hydroxychloroquine remember that? Yeah. The supposed cure for covid. They're now linking it to having caused 17,000 deaths during covid. Okay? But, but that is the kind of thing that gets pulled to see that. You're absolutely right. It's gonna happen forever. The AI is gonna cause death because that's right. Like that. Yes. And that and the, the extension of that is the Chad GPT is the engine for most of the AI open. AI gets sued Sam Altman ends up leaving and joining Microsoft Word, safe, why I think, I think it's like, there's a big crazy. Oh, I like all right, my my second. Yeah, she prediction is and this one's the most obvious prediction I have 2024 is the end of the anti-esg movement and how do you measure how do you measure that? Because you stop hearing, anything about ESG and you start hearing everything about Dei Dei. In fact worse. Here's my very incredibly specific piece of predictions around this first Congress. Hold at least five hearings on liberal companies in Dei policies. That's guaranteed. That's, that's gonna happen with second. Conservatives are going to hold a conference in 2024 with a session called This is, I'm predicting the action. Name of the session. Alphabet soup, understanding the liberal acronym, wait for this, so they're not going to use the word woke, they're gonna go right for back to Liberal. Well, he's gone for Dei, this is before our Injustice time really. But liberal used to be that dirty word before Progressive liberal Elites. Yeah. So rounding out my predictions here. I we have a CEO turnover prediction that there is no CEO turnover. It's just white men becoming executive chairs but women taking their but women taking the roles as the season women taking over. Yeah. And that includes Eiger stepping down and Brian Cornell Target. Stepping down into executive chair roles, my Twitter prediction is that they're profitable and Yaks. Get fired publicly fired and then there's a generative AI death and anti-esg becomes Dei. I'll go first because there's only one that sends out to me that I think is plausible and yet entertaining. I actually like this, the Elon Musk Fires, Linda yaccarino, what's wrong? What's wrong? No, but I don't know. No plausible, but entertaining and I thought you hated this. Two years gone this year. I don't know if he fires her or she steps out. But I actually, I just like Matt's twist here, is that? He, of course, he'll do it in some horrible, anti Dei misogynist rant on his own misogynist, horrible platform. I just I he is the kind of guy who would do that. And you know what, the Tesla board, the Tesla shareholder will do nothing, they'll say? Yeah. Well, that's that's a guarantee but I like that. Was your prediction. Yeah. Someone picked the one that might actually make us. Yeah. Okay, that's that's the winner for Matt. Let's move on to the great money Whisperer Jesse. They call her Jesse, that's what they call the office. Jesse Know. Other people. All right perfect. Yes, I'm ready for a fight. So I have a union production. Uh-huh, along the lines of Ari, I think the union momentum, stay strong, I don't agree, we can take on that. Yeah, I however think that the next strikes will be in healthcare and the airlines. Okay, that makes perfect sense. Airline like every year, I don't think that it's just gonna be in the US. I think the UK and Canada, are you five times a year? But is there a better industry to strike in like travel or Hospitality? I mean, that's the, that's the one I think you are having problems right now. There's there. They're fighting right now in the US. The big headlines are that nurses are fighting state or pay agreements. So, okay, they're already these hospitals. Are in trouble and there's actually moral. Uh, turn like a moral turmoil with the nurses. Actually leaving is part of this prediction that, the Ronald Reagan's corpse comes back to life like Jesus and fires all the all the nurses on strike. Just fired all the air traffic controllers. They won't fire the nurses mostly because like half of the nurses are subcontracted by companies that are you don't have to take my jokes. I'm just okay. So Jesse here's where I talk about right Carnation. Now, here's where I think you're right. Just see is currently in England, in the UK. I think Junior doctors are about ready to go on strike or their yes. So I like this one I like this. Okay thank you. This is where this is like this is my dueling prediction X. I took the optimistic route is going down. And that I think all these companies, Airbnb, Coke, Microsoft, I think they wake up and realize it's a cesspool on that platform. Maybe it's even the new female CEOs of companies that are like nope by the executive. The company is well, do directors really care about where they're spending their advertising money? I don't know. Oh, 2000 hours a year. What was it? They only work 2,000 hours over their 10 years. We covered yesterday in the proxy countdown which apparently you don't even listen to our own shows, five know, Ari and I like to chit chat while I'm talking I'm doing this show, that Stefano Pacino, and Ross Brewer had a were fighting at one point. There was reported and this wasn't necessarily the reason why she left but Stefano pessina made a deal with the startup company, led by the X CEO of Walgreens after Stefano who their friendly to put video screens on refrigerators Roz. Brewer saw them when she joined and said this looks like Vegas. I'm killing this deal. I don't like him at all, but did not consult piscina and pessina and the board were arguing with her as a Like you and, and now the startup sued Walgreens and pessina siding. With the suing company, despite being the executive chair and gritty talk about Petty, can I remind you that this is a woman who was CEO of Sam's Club and CEO of Starbucks. I mean, how, how could you have better credentials than that? Seriously? Like she comes from this being the CEO of Starbucks. The world's greatest drug empire ever. I mean, what are we doing here? This is the broth thing. This is like my body started that you don't trust her dare, you just crazy? So stand by it. I don't think it's Gonna Knock musk down, any wrongs? I don't think his ego is gonna take a hit by him, but I do more importantly, make a prediction for his net worth. That's the most most important thing is what will his net worth even if it once again, this predictions, go ahead my neck Prediction is a succession prediction. This may be dovetails off of Damian's prediction of China EV Wars heart attack. Yeah, I think Warren Buffett dies. Oh 2024 so far the two of you have predicted that like a 99 year old and a 97 year old die. I didn't predict that I said one of one musk or Warren Buffett we'll have a heart attack and Rupert Murdoch he said 900 years but now I think maybe it's gonna be evil the hardest or maybe maybe he's reaching for his diet coke and he accidentally drinks a glass of Occidental Petroleum. I feel like he's healthier than Elon Musk. I think I don't know. I I saw I read that he like drinks a ton of coke and last dress, I would like to see them in a cage match that's all I'm saying. I just wanted to see cage match between takes over. We I think we know who I mean, from my research, they already have a succession plan and it's the vice chairman Greg Abel and a Jeep John. So the way they're gonna do cos that's what he shows. You know, great people. Yeah, able to be the CEO, but The heel they only have a combined four and a half percent influence, right? Well because of Buffett he'll be dead. Correct? They be handing out 80% of influence. It'll be redistributed it. Yes. Read distributed but I just don't know how successful they're going to be considered. They don't have a say but Jesse and they're gonna get all of the say, but no, no, two of his offspring of Warren's officer. Right. Is it two of his kids are on the board? How he has like one percent influence, he's the shares were transfer. The ownership will how we stay on the board of land? Yes, because he means to preserve culture. Oh, is that culture? Yeah, to preserve the world. I mean, All right, Jesse. This is the Year buffet dies, all right. Yeah, no one really talks about climate change. 90,000 people that go to these things. Someone is gonna get murdered. That's true. I have a climate change here so I'm gonna get pushed off the car. Okay, I have a climate change hero of 2024. I like this. It's gonna be crossbow. Mechanic Rock. Oh, what rush? Volcanic rock. This is the mushroom prediction of 2024, I want to hear so there's a startup called lithos. It's, it started two years ago, but it is gaining traction, amongst large companies like alphabet. They are buying, they're buying their volcanic, they're Crush, volcanic rock. And what they do is they distribute it to Farmers. And they sprouted all over the farm, and it increases, the yield of the farm of the farm of the cross. The crop. It does. So it's but it also helps capture carbon because they basically like speed up. Carbon capture alphabet is doing alphabet Shopify, three big, huge names, they've committed 50, 7.1 million dollars literally by rock dust, Just like actually doing something for climate change. They're investing. This is, I don't know, maybe it's the new carbon sequestration, but it actually seems like it. It does what it's supposed to do. So I think this is going to be the only thing. The only the only year, the only sad part about the prediction just is the, the leadership team at lit. Those all six of them are men, kind of said, well, I just said just about that, but I am all for getting creative. Like, remember to say about that, the Japanese Airlines who are like, don't bring your clothes? Yep. Yep. I'm all for this. well, the planet where you can now, you know, how many you know or my phone or My e of ESG, but this is this is my prediction wrap up her predictions Matt and then let's vote. Um, so just just for the record that that's 154,000 tons of carbon. It's what you had down. So that is approximately just looking at the epa's calculator and that's over four years. I'm annoyed already. Bye you That's 356,000 barrels of oil. That was not taking out of the atmosphere. Wait 360,000 barrels. Yeah, that's seems like, more than I would have expected like a week. It's 19,000. Homes worth per year, really Supply, Jesse for having the only intelligent prediction on the entire show. This one Whatever I would say this. I, I actually think you can take that prediction even farther by saying there is a burger does, there's a burgeoning volcanic dust mining operation that takes off in 2024. There's a new Hawaiian island being formed right now, that won't be done for 10,000 years. We can just use that volcanic Crush it and spread it in Wisconsin. We have to transport it though. Transport ourselves. We will transport it. Using these, have you heard there? Oh yeah. This year, they announced these new wind powered boats that are there. I believe they're called sale boats. Yeah, I know we're gonna have they're gonna harness solar power as. All right, Jesse's predictions, stay strong, and actually Healthcare might have been the only thing that was interesting in their ex goes down, which is the opposite of why I said and just one of us is wrong. I'm right. I'm pretty sure Jesse's right like to say optimistic on Warren Buffett dies. That's a 9,000 year old human does not live for more years and Volcanic crushed, volcanic rock. I'm gonna go first. Go ahead. I read about unions. I actually disagree. About Warren Buffett. I do think he's gonna survive this year. Another year another year. Wow. Another that's the real prediction that year old. Ocean lives longer that's a prediction. Please add it to my thing. He's not 9 9. 9 9. 2020. Prediction show, you'll hear predictions about beavers and mushrooms it weigh in this year. Let's wrap up our 2024 prediction shows with a simple who is the winner of 2024, who will win the year? Going to win the year? I got it. I believe the winner will be McDonald's. Wesley. Wow, I predict the winner every year for us like 70 years. Wow, listen to this, Russia and Ukraine will end the war. No One's Gonna Be more happy than McDonald's is gonna go back to Russia. Such a weird winner already. Does weird, is that weird or the crush? Volcanic rock winner. The winner of the year is the most dominant Fast Food Corporation known to the planet. They're gonna win, right? Okay. Forget You. Go to McDonald's or have you went to McDonald's just months ago? Yeah, months ago, I thought that was that were gonna go years. Before I had a baby and I actually did stuff fun stuff on the weekends, stop by the McDonald's. Right stuff. I'll go. Yeah. Jesse. What's your Damien's going? I'll go next because mine's pretty boring. It's not yours was fun. REI, I feel I feel embarrassed by mine. Mine is at the that there would be two leaders in California will be the winner of the year. The first is is Zuck. I think Zuck, I think this is Zach's. Come back here. I think some, he's gonna, of course, this counter. This is like going against one of my other predictions but who cares. I think he just comes up with something that puts him back on the map. One of his stupid ideas, Apple car. Sure. Whatever. I just think sucks coming back. I can't believe you did a big Tim Cook. My no, no, because I think Tim Cook is already like he's already winning. So I think Zuck is back in the Limelight and I think Gavin Newsome. Gavin Newsom wins the president. See that's my other brick tradition. Wow. 2040 Governor, Gavin Newsome. Winner. He wins the 2024 presidents. He's not. I think. Biden is a Biden. Is out button is out. No, I don't know how he doesn't run, but I think Newsom takes over and I think he destroys Trump. That means Jesse, you have to go next President. Biden is gonna win the year when he's re-elected. All right, I hope one of us is Right. Jesse I do too. I only two, I only picked Avenue because I wanted to pick something that made me feel good. I get, I had to stay hopeful with this. Well, let me make you feel bad with my white man, in middle management when the year, because he was the music, the slow. Strangulation he, when do they know that means. Finally, finally, with d, i out of the way white men, get a shot at that promotion, they've been denied for a whole chicken, seriously. I actually seriously think that white men win, 2024, but they've won every year since Jesus. They're just really wasn't even white. So I don't even know what's going on different from picking, like the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super bowl. Of course they won last year but they could win again. I'm picking white, that's 24 predictions show, that's hazelnut Ross. And Jesse the money whisper and are the data queen. I am Matt, the analyst hall because Ari can never remember that picture. Um, we will be back next week. We're actually, we're actually doing three business pants. Oh sweet. Um, much gaming Chagrin and we got a proxy countdown next week. Wow, normal week. Next week. It's great. It's basically gonna kill Damian and until then, goodbye.
