Transcript

Hey, oh, we're live. From your Damien free picket line. It's a businessman's Friday show here at September 29th Studios. Featuring all your favorites. Are you the data Queen who's back back? Like permanently ish. Yeah. I mean, I'm gonna say ish. Until we shut down our door. Here we go, out of business. And the money whisper who's not whispering nearly enough money. See, oh, we can blame Jessie. Oh, that's You wrap up CEO mood, trackers writers, get paid, man, babies. Hiding behind, glass, Clips, CEOs and more micro plastic. We actually have. This is what happens when, so Damien, not here today, and the reason why Damian's not here today is because he is one of the man, no, I didn't take it out, he didn't even know what we do anymore here. It's hard. It is hard. Today's Show is brought to you by free flow, analytics.com. Go there. I mean that's it. Just go there and get all the data that you need to like know who runs your company. Well, you could also share it. You could share it. Maybe share it with a friend. Maybe we can share your mood tracker on there. Oh as our CEO. Um you have a mutant. Am I really the CEO? Does any do any of you think like oh that guy's a CEO of this company feel like every day you do five. Yeah that's why we wait for you to leave before I go over to Ari to take miles for a walk. Well, I don't know. So you don't have to go anywhere. All right, so let's do this. I'm gonna cover Damien's story of the week, but this is the same as every Friday show story that we could. At least the week as holy is the week exhausting. So weak and we'll just do some predictions and some winners. Let's do this thing. All right. Story of the week. These are Damien's. Choice is not mine. Just be clear. First up. Joe, Biden joins Auto Workers on picket line in Michigan. sorry, I got it is Story is the story of the historic, but nobody cares what Joe Biden does anymore even though he's about to run for president. But I mean like I wish they cared more so he joins them on the picket line. He grabs a bullhorn, he's saying stuff. It's the first time sitting president has ever done this and today the UAW announced new strikes, more strikes GM and Ford dealing Biden for that. I well this is the thing that is why a president probably never did it. Because now that they're striking more strike harder than maybe like every Republicans going to be like that was Joe's phone. Is a man of the people out and, you know, according to a poll. I think seven a Gallup poll 75% of Americans agree with this strike. Oh, kind of It. The second story of the week is actually just about, it's effectively our favorite thing in the universe and no one else is like, this is not a story of the week but I'll say we love it. Verizon CEO Hans vestberg has been tracking his mood out of 10 in a spreadsheet every day since 2009. And if he gives himself less than a three, he works alone for the day. Wow, he knows himself. I mean first of all congratulations to him for having so much self-awareness like most CEOs. I can't say dedication. but, Immediately isn't this exactly what we want from every single sitting officer at a company, a mood tracker transparent. I mean, it's like a, it's like, if they all had like a mood ring, like you could read every day, they show up to the board meeting and you're like, oh, Janet's a blue and and Jack's a green. This is not gonna be a good combination. Let's just take this meeting off. Let's go home. This could probably move markets, it probably could. Honestly, if you knew that Hans vestberg was like a two and it was an earnings day, right? Like there's actually a whole sections of analytics that are looking at like his Linguistics on an earnings call. What if he was a two on that day or if you know, like if you look at a bunch of seeing CEOs in the same industry, oh yeah, Doom 7 that like like there's 50 companies in the industry, 23 of them are twos, 14 of them are threes and then two of them are nines. It's like go along the nines, baby, take them, take them on that does not add up to 50, by the way. Yeah. But the funniest part is that an eight to attend is not necessarily a good thing. It's a scoreboard, he has so much energy that people get tired. So the numbers scale is one to two means he wasn't in the right headspace to come to work with other people should stay in his office. Three to seven was a quote unquote ideal score when he's at his best and he's energized and productive. And To 10 means he has so much energy. People get tired of him. Yeah, 37 is such a wide range for this. Like, if you're a three and you're a seven, you're the best. Like, that's your best. Well, think about it. Like, when we like show director performance, we basically say anything below, 300 batting, 300, anything above, 700. That's right. Those are the poles. You want to hit the middle. So, so what's your mood today? Matt. My mood today is a five every day is five. Never want to be too up or two down. I'm always. I'm according to Hans vestberg, I'm perfect every single day. I'm a perfect, five story. Number three, Blaming female leaders for their tyrannical. Male bosses, ex CEO, Lindy aquarena had a car crash interview at code where she seemed undermined by Elon Musk and couldn't State precise user numbers or whether users will pay. I'm going to cover this an asshole. Yes, at more length. But basically, Linda yaccarino said a whole bunch of things that like, she clearly had no idea. She couldn't even name the number of daily active users. Twitter has, and at one point musk tweeted or said, in an interview on the 18th of September that all users were going to pay. And she was asked about that and she was like, wait, did he say that? Like, on stage in a conference, is basically confused by the question. So not great. Also, another thing I hate the name X because when I first read this headline, correct, like CEO Linda Yack Arena was like, oh my God, she's gone already. Well, yeah, I mean, there's not an e in front of the X is not. I thought it was the writing the headline, I don't know. All right. That's seems like you like when I see it. I just think that she's the head of a Porn company called X. And the fourth story is Hollywood. Writers strike ended on Wednesday as wga amptp, finalized labor contract. That's the worst. It's a amped up and that's gonna be in good list actually, but the writer strike ended, I don't. All right, I'm gonna start us off by saying, I don't know why that's what. Like, is that a good or bad thing? Like, what, like, why do we care about that? Well, it's we care because the do you like, TV shows. Do you like this debate? Because the people, the workers have one. What works? I mean they've been on strike for five weeks almost. Oh, I was gonna say a couple months. There's too much television. There could be half the writers and I wouldn't even notice right? Like like it. Alright, lots of other things. Come right for free float. We're not part of it. We're like these. These idiots aren't unionized. All right. So those are four stories. You've got Biden joins Auto Workers and pick it line hands Vespers, mood tracking. X CEOs, car, crash interview and the Hollywood writers strike ended. I'm gonna go with EXO because that is just so embarrassing and so bad. These are Elon musk's fault. This is hard. Um, Oh yeah, Nealon musk got rid of the election team, right? Yeah, he said they were gone but Linda said they were not gone so who do we believe, right? Linda or Elon? He needs to get out of his own way. Man, he's gonna bring this. I don't think he does. I think Linda needs to get out of his way and basically just say she's not running anything, she's not running. I'm gonna choose the writer strike ends. Oh okay, somebody watches. Yeah, it's not me. I'm not going with the writer strike ending, I thought the registry was a bit ridiculous to be. Wow. I mean they were asking for a specific number of writers in every writer's room. Yeah. Because one person doesn't want to work alone, you want the buddy system. Yeah. Okay. Well, but contrast that to the auto workers or like UPS write ups, they were asking for air conditioning in the car so they didn't die and they go on strike. The writers are saying, you can't use Ai and we need at least five writers. But okay, but to play Devil's Advocate. I'm not saying that asking for the amount of TV that we ask for is appropriate but like they come out with a show Netflix, for example, comes out with the show and then immediately people are like when's the next season because they binge it in like a day. So like there is a lot being asked of the writers from it, they do and the right. It doesn't trickle down Netflix isn't the Netflix was the winner in the writer's strike because they have so much content and a lot of its International anyway and like none of this affected Netflix. Their their entire model is a streaming model and the writers are the the writers are effectively striking against Studios that are like traditional linear television streaming companies because they're, they're they want royalties where they ended up. Yeah. And they got a residential. That was the one thing that made the most sense they asking for the royalties for the streams. But as for five writers in the room, like this will come on, like Netflix. Explains about like when when you're asking for stuff like that, the winner is actually consolidation for the only company that like can do any streaming. Well, I don't know, I felt like, it's fine. Like, I'm, I'm Pro everybody should strike once or twice. Let's just give it a shot. I'm fine. Yeah. But I didn't really, it never felt like their right thing. I'm gonna make it a three-way problem. I'm gonna, because I'm going with hands Vespers mood tracker. That's what I'm going with, really? I feel a story of the week. I feel like our good The good game is our track or mood tracker. It kind of basically I've never been above six but I worked out but look what I like. Why why I would use this a story of the week is right now like where there's so much anti-esg and I knew data, we're we're trying to sell data to people and they're like, I don't know what to do with this data so it's like it's incredibly fascinating but I don't know how to think about it. And it's like there's so much resistance to anything that's new. And if you find out that the CEO of a massive Telecom company tracks, their own mood on a daily basis for over a decade. That seems really useful and interesting, right? Can you imagine like correlating that to news and earnings and like that level of transparency? That's that's what our company is about. I'm gonna pick that because we should send them an email, we should 100%. All right we'll get on that. We're gonna get so hands. I know you're listening to the show. That's why you've been tracking for that long. Come join us. So I'm going to say the story of the week was none of these stories because we couldn't agree, which means good Liz of the week. Is next return with my first story. Well, we are already. Crapping all over. Yeah, correct. But why is the why one of these your return? Oh I don't know because it's I think that says narcissist sorry but then I got sick on my first day. That was a terrible week. Yeah, it's true. He did get sick. Here we go, good least of the week. The WJ is calling its New Deal, exceptional. So the writer strike like I said after almost five months finally over on Wednesday, the estimated value of the new agreement is 233 million dollars per year. now, back in May the studios, the studios proposed, they submitted a proposal and The new agreement, their their version of the new room, it would have been 86 million dollars. So I think there's a giant one for them. Some of the important things that they negotiated was and 18% increase initial pay in a 26% raise and residuals on shows for streaming services. They have a budget over 30 minutes like that just for contacts. What? The UPS settlement was, I think an estimated 30 billion over you. So there's you say there's more UPS workers than writers. Yes. Well, well, he's not that much. Like I like the story you're just you're just back well, continuing with the strikes. My second good list story of the week is, we're on day 15 of the United Auto Workers strike. You were just we are waiting. You act like I'm in control of the sound. The sound is just like a real, it's the audience reactions, what do you AI? So they're striking against Atlantis and GM and Ford as of last week and just this morning at 10:30, they announced an expansion on their striking. Two additional plants I believe. However what I really liked about the story is their messaging is amazing. So I went on their Twitter. I mean X. And anytime an automaker executive or something, you know, they try to say like this can't happen, they just have the greatest comebacks. GM CEO Mary Barra, who we talked about on the show all the time. She was on CNN last week for eight and a half minutes and they replied on their Twitter saying during the eight and a half minutes GMC. CEO Mary Barra appeared in CNN this morning, she earned more money than any other worker. Day. Yeah, that's well played they all. So, they've all they are really obsessed with BuyBacks. Just like us and they tweeted the other day, incredible? Right up to our contract deadline stellantis, just can't help themselves announcing their executing, another 500 million on stock BuyBacks. If they've got money for Wall Street, they sure as hell have money for the workers who make their industry run. I mean they have a point. I like look, the buyback thing is always been a thing, right? Like the reason why we had like a airline bailout in the pandemic was because they spent every dollar they had on BuyBacks like every single dollar, right? So they have a point and last but not least Ford CEO. Jim Farley he went on CNBC a thing that it's not sustainable to pay them like what their demanding and the UAW Twitter replied with this man-made 21 million dollars. Last year. So I mean that's it. I mean, the worst part about this is Like Netflix was the winner in the writer strike. Tesla is the winner in the UAW strike, right? Tesla is not unionized their CEO broke. Every single pay ratio model in the history of models, because in one year because of his incredible pay package, that his brother approved on the board. He made like 30,000 times the average employee and then he makes nothing every other year but it like breaks every single model because the way he pays himself and this is kind of like we're the mature industries that pay 20 million a year to their Executives seem quaint next to like Elon Musk and what he does to his workers and what's going on there? Like I am that they're fighting the good fight in a way and yet it's still has this. Unintended effect of Elon Musk is laughing, right? Like he's laughing, he's like, this is why we don't have unions over a test. Yeah, you says that on X probably in response to their too, to read, to himself at night. All right. Lastly, us, accuses Amazon of illegally protecting Monopoly and online. so, we've all Known this, but the FTC and 17 States, officially sued Amazon, on Tuesday, accusing them of illegally, stifling the competition. And just last week, you know, getting wind of antitrust investigations escalating Bloomberg reported, that Amazon scrapped a planned fee on. Merchants that don't use its shipping services so they find every single way they can to punish people for either selling outside of Amazon or selling outside of Amazon cheaper prices. And yeah, it's not good. I do read There was an analyst, hot take. That was his hot. Take was yawn like, he would basically, was making the point that there's no way to see wins. There's no way like antitrust hurts big Tech because the users are actually getting like the customer gets cheaper prices or They get it free. Like Google is under like an antitrust lawsuit now, but so is matter. But users Get It Free, right. Like search is free where that everyone gets hurt is. It's actually the small businesses. The companies have to deal with the Monopoly and that's where there's no. Then there's no competition. They can kill any competition from coming in, but every Company still needs to use them. Customers get hurt. They're just don't know. They're getting hurt because they go to other places to buy the same thing. They want to buy, but it the price is higher because Amazon told them they had to make it higher another place. I don't disagree with you. It trickles down eventually, right? Like if like, but the way the law is written, the bad part of it, is it specifically focused on monopolistic behavior that hurts customers like to Consumer. And the consumer is generally construed to be like us buying stuff and all Big. Texas has been saying is they don't like you search. You don't have to buy. Anything you just, we're just better than other search, right? We're not hurting the consumer at all. With we're actually offering a service that's free to the consumer. So, nobody's been able to say, well, the trickle-down cost to the consumer is higher because of your monopolistic Tendencies because no one wants no, I mean, how difficult would it be to like put together a thing that was like, well, if people want to search for free flow for us to appear, we'd have to pay only Google and advertising to make our search appear higher. And that would basically mean I have to take all of Ari's salary and make sure we appear on a Google search so someone can find us. So I don't hire Ari and then Ari can't go out and use, you know, she uses the free service to look for a job because she has no money. Like it's so circuitous. It doesn't make any sense. I'm excited to see how this place out, though. I do think there's one clear winner here. Jesse, do you have a winner? Oh, Really good stories. Tell you. You strike day 15? We're celebrating the, you want to celebrate the 15th day of the strike. You're gonna pick this one that everyone's like, isn't gonna go anywhere? Yeah, because I disagree that it's not gonna go anywhere. I think that I think there's a there is, um, very clearly a legal case against it that we're not be anxious, but it may not be antitrust. But the fact the amount of data that they've accrued on the business practices is these companies. I mean, for for us, I think I feel like this is a, this is a question of well. How are these companies governed, right? Can you change the way that they govern? So this doesn't happen anymore, if you can't break them up with antitrust, if you're a shareholder, hello. Have a vote vote differently, right? Like you, you don't have to have you use our data to vote differently? Yeah, correct. Yeah. See selling, yeah, we're together. We're on it. But that means Ari's got a break the tie because Jesse really wants to celebrate 15 days. Okay, let me rephrase Ari didn't Ari's goodbyes was not that we're on day 15. Her good least was their response. The strikers responses to what has been happening. And to be fair, I like that they're making. I mean, how many people knew that Jim Farley made 21 million like that? I just it's not like we do we do but it's not in like the main. Yeah, mainstream Consciousness. So this is good. I mean, put it out there cool. All right. Break the time, I love their strategy. Oh I don't know if you guys are just Quickly that you ate woo strikes at one automaker all plants correct. And this time around they decided to do it. At three different auto makers and they don't tell them which plants are gonna go on strike until they do. So it's like a slow trickle. It's like the paper cuts, so you're voting for the day 15. Nope. I'm voting for The Writer's strike, a lot of money and they got what they wanted and they feel good about it and I agree on any story. Wow no stories feel good about it all. The good news is that you're wrong with your picks so that means we can get on to the next part of the show where we start to talk about things that are correct, which is my partner. Because always you've been on a roll. Yeah, a few weeks this week is one window. Yeah. Well these are less long-winded but I'm long-winded. So the human body Shield that is glass Cliff CEOs. So this is from the headline Damien, talked about CEO, Lindy aquarena interview at code here is here's some quotes. I'm just going to quote from the article for this because it doesn't need any other contacts. A question was asked was musk serious about charging, all users, a fee to use x must announce the plans in a live stream of September, 18th jaccarino paused for a couple of seconds appeared, puzzled and asked Borstein to repeat her question. The question was repeated the executives then replied? Did he say we were moving towards it? Specifically or that he was thinking about it. Like, literally, she has to follow his Twitter feed to figure out what her job is. Asked about exes daily active users, she responded at one point that there was somewhere between 200 and 250 million. But somewhere else, she claimed that there were 540 million active like so we're we're orders of magnitude off on the core number that you sell to advertise. Just that like proof that people like use your service, but this is the one that really got me. Quote, everybody deserves to speak their opinion. That's Linda Aquino says, after being asked about the Anti-Defamation League, complaints about Twitter and anti-Semitism, then she looked at her watch and said she had to catch a flight. Does it get more awkward and terrible than that? And the only reason why she has to answer that question is because Linda yaccarino is not anti-semitic because Elon Musk was retweeting National white nationalist tweets about like Anti-Defamation League being terrible and shutting them down and then being anti-free, speech and all that stuff. That's just one of the glass Cliff stories from this week. The other one is Qantas CEO. Vanessa Hudson got grilled by lawmakers over the raft of scandals. This CEO has been there for one month. She basically just started and she is sitting in front of, you know, Australian lawmakers getting grilled. And here's the quote grilled from the article quote grilled rebuked and chided by a parliamentary inquiry. Nobody wants to be China. Know that sounds horrible and my job. Both of those jobs are quit. She's a lifer at Qantas, right? Like, so she's like, this is the Pinnacle of her career and she gets it because the man babies ahead of her, took a whole bunch of money fucked, the whole bunch of people over and then had to give it to somebody else to clean up. I mean, like, what like, if you talking about Apex of a career, that's just seems really uncomfortable and this one was way more obscure. I'm glad you picked this because when I first read the headline, it I was like, this has to be bad. This is what this is way more obscure. It was from ESG today, LEGO Group appoints Annette, stube as Chief sustainability, Officer. And here's why I picked this as using a woman as a human body Shield. She's the chief sustainability officer, not CEO obviously, but last week or maybe it was even like Tuesday. This headline up here, Lego ditches? Oil-free brick and sustainability. Setback. So literally Legos saying, like, we're not going to do the sustainable thing. We said we were going to do. Oh, by the way, look, here's here's a lady. Here's our lady. Hold on here, but the lady, now, she can answer all the questions about how much her job so asshole. The week is glass, Cliff CEO, the human body Shield of women that I didn't know that that was bad, but I knew I was like, this has to be bad. This is what this job has done to me. I read a headline like that and I'm like, what happened? Number two, and is this whole segment of X Twitter, just get that. And here's my problem. The asshole is companies that don't get the F off of Twitter. At this point, this week, the headline and NFL tells X it's concerned about placement of ads on white nationalist accounts, are they though, That's what they wrote an open letter. That's they're just using this opportunity for their own. I mean, PR, they probably asked, can all can only our ads be show up on Taylor Swift's exit Twitter account. Please last week, Tim Cook, this is last week, this is two weeks. Tim Cook admits, we constantly ask ourselves. Whether Apple should advertise on Twitter, there are some things I don't like good thing. He's asking something questions, don't ask, just get the fuck off, get off three weeks ago, Elon Musk likes trending, the ADL pose, as white supremacists. Add runs on platform. This summer Twitter runs ads for Disney, Microsoft in the NBA next to Neo-Nazi propaganda their screenshots of all of this isn't like make believe this isn't like it's like okay. So at some point What has to happen for a company to say? I'm going to get off like in the same way we've been talking about. When do companies leave Florida? Yeah, isn't Twitter. The Florida of the internet. Get the fuck off a Twitter. Like also, how much money could Apple possibly be like making this last week? That is exactly what I said. Yeah, I was like seriously a little ad on Twitter like you Apple need this. I mean unless you want to make the argument, which I wish someone would make that Neo Nazis. Also buy shoes and iPhones, right? Like feel free to make that argument. That's a pure capitalist argument and they buy Adidas shoes. When you remember, but like the fact is, what do you have to do? Like, what what has to be on a platform for them to say, you know what? There's other ways. Yeah, there's other ways. That's a good one. Your number three asshole the week is the assholes who fund this, but not us. This one's a very self-serving one, but I read this headline and lost my mind. Caffeinated gum picks up steam as Lance Armstrong. Backed rev raises 6 million to expand retail presence. You know, why are we investing in Lance Armstrong? I also stepped on this headline for all the things. What first of all, Lance Armstrong still a thing. Like he's got one, not being. What is he have any money? It was like the biggest landlord history, fail up man, failing up. I mean like that's amazing. Second of all six million for caffeinated gum six million dollars. I'm so confused. We want to, we have. All right look I'll be on his. We have like six months left to cash in this company. We have the hardest time finding investors who believe that ISS and glass Lewis shouldn't be a duopoly. We have arguably the greatest data set on directors, ever built in the history of data sets were the only ones who feel 98% of the proxy need to vote on directors. And in a market that espouses voting on performance, everybody says like, oh, all that matters is performance. Well, we show you how these people perform and they say, oh, that's a little aggressive to vote them out. It's a little aggressive, isn't it? I don't want to call anybody out. We can't get an investor in here. We had VCS tell us because we can't, they can't see a line to 100 million in revenue. And the next five years, we don't seem like a good bet but six million dollars raise for caffeinated gum this on the back is made me think of Zoom Pizza. Gave him $445 million dollars for an AI powered pizza delivery truck so they would make the pizza in the truck as it's delivered to you. And yet like I can't if you're out there, someone proved that caffeinated gum is less important to the universe. Then voting your proxies with people who actually do their jobs. Well, just somebody, somebody data that backs, maybe we'll just build a robot and then that robot will communicate the same things. Maybe we'll just give caffeinated gum out when you buy the data. There you go. Then everybody wins freak Affinity gum with more directly for and number four as all the week is the burn it down a burn. It all down, anti-wolf with the government shutdown and the government shutdown is specifically being driven by the same crowd, that's the anti ESG anti and I like anti-everything. So I'm just gonna put them in there as like they're probably in this country. The, the obvious asshole the week, but I want to put them in there as a sort of sub asshole. Did we caused the shutdown? Is it our fault actually, it's an excellent question. I Blame You specifically. All right, so here you're three assholes, the human body Shield that is glass. Cliff CEOs, getting F off of Twitter, anyone who doesn't and the assholes that fund caffeinated gum, but not free float, because that makes no sense to me. I can go first. I don't understand. None of these companies need to advertise on Twitter or X or whatever. They just don't and the compost. This is this is a great compilation Matt. So there is it is good. I'm gonna go with that. I feel like I have to pick this, too, because I chose Tim. I had this same exact thought and argument and confusion last week, just get off. So we have got a sweep with. Why you don't get the eff off of Twitter, actually. Think that's probably the right answer even though even I mean, government shutdown sounds big, but I'm surprised you didn't, it was 90% of people are gonna be unpaid. Yeah. You man, babies, throwing women in front of problems. Exhausting, as I don't know, this was just, I had to go with the women like Linda, what are you doing? Elon musk's called like hey be this. Wow. I'm like, I'm gonna hang up right now. Should we should we flip this? And stop calling it glass Cliff CEO. Like here's the problem, right? Because like, like, Vanessa Hudson is at the Pinnacle of her career. Write 30 years to get here, and she's a lifer and What else, what was going to be next anyway? Right? So she hits it but there's also a feeling of like, well you shouldn't enable the man babies. Like by taking this job. You are effectively saying, like the man babies who came before me. I have to clean up after I'm going to apologize for them and I'm going to, in fact, we covered earlier this in the summer. At cuantas, one of their subsidiaries Jets star the new Jetstar CEO apologized for 20 years, and it's another woman the first female like at the subsidiary. So, literally, they're just, they're just taking any, they're like, you, you with the boobs? Come in here, stand here, apologize, for everything I've ever done for you. I'm gonna pay you half as much, which is what Hudson's contract. Is, I'm gonna be half as much. Thank you for taking the heat Because by the time, the Fallout from, this is over, they all get fired. Wait. But is there a respectable alternative? Where they could not apply, like, still take the position, but not apologize. But say here's what we'll do moving forward. Yeah, here's the here's what. I'll do differently. You make the man baby CEO? Who got them in this position. Apologize. Not to apologize, but he cannot leave the job and you Up the entire board with all women and then all of his bosses are winning. His bosses are women. They don't go out to the world and apologize. The board never says, anything, they all say. Now, we're gonna hold you accountable and you're gonna clean up this mess, just like your mom would do you, you made the mess, you clean it up and he would be stuck at zero pay. You know, seven claw back, a bunch of his salary and they basically have to give them an option where they're like. All right, we're gonna give you a long-term pay option where it doesn't vest for five years and we're going to set the bar really high for you. Even cross it, it will pay you for the five years. If you do your job, if you don't do your job, you get nothing for five years because you are looking for women to put on your board. High-performing women. Hello, that's correct three, tell you who free float? Well, just put Ari and Jesse on your board. Here we go. I already. Doing Damien's work is really takes a lot out of you. Okay, this is not new. This is very exhausting. I cover stories similar to this in the same vein. A lot about how women do not make as much as men, and they have to take more time off and their career has more hit. Well, here's the newest, headline, working women spend 15.4 billion more than men in out of pocket, Health costs study Fine, the Deloitte Consulting. Study comes out of Deloitte Consulting. It's their analysis. The study found that women's spent 18% more on copays and deductibles on average, excluding pregnancy and maternity. But it's things like, I mean, we have annual exams at our OBGYN that men don't have, if things are found. One thing that it listed, was that breast cancer Imaging is cost, much much more costly. There's like none of that happening for men. I mean, I guess, men can get breast cancer and in that case, they need Imaging, but you don't have to be merely. I'm not worried about being included, you're not going yearly, so there's things like that and then when there's follow-up appointments, those usually come with co-pays or out of pocket costs. So that's kind of where those are accruing. And then what I loved about this article is that Deloitte analyst go on to say that, this is something that employers can fix, they could close this Gap. So obviously it leads to agenda. I mean, we already know this, but they're saying. That employers could close it with enhanced benefits. And all it would cost is 133 dollars per employee per year or 11 dollars per month. That's like the cost of a dental plan or like a vision plan hack on 11 like you contribute 11 dollars for your employee. Do you value your employee 133? Dollars extra a year. No to close a gap in her, okay? Versus what's interesting about this is effectively, they're saying that being a lady is 133 dollars more expensive, a year than being a man. That's basically what they're saying just healthwise well in insurance is eyes. Yeah, and insurance. Is that what I actually that's on top of the fact that we have to take more time off to go to these appointments or that you already make 77 cents on the dollar to average, right? Like so this just feels like okay, check it on. This is just let's increase. Maybe we should do the opposite though. Well let's think about this differently. Let's make Men pay more know. Let's let's make men. Subsidized women in insurance. No, let's let's make men go to the doctor more. Let's I do. I do do that. Let's like like if you go to OB every single year and get a checkup right? Like why don't we go get our prostates checked every single year from now on like aren't you guess what would happen, What would happen is be if that happened the men, first of all, would be like, oh my God, this is horrible, right? Like which women have to have been bearing for a bajillion years men, all of a sudden they're like this is horrible and then the cost on all of it, somehow will mystically come down because I find more efficient ways to do it because it bothers men, right? That's what would happen. Yeah, so I would actually suggest the opposite which is increase. The number of times that men go by 133 dollars per employee for Melanie. Every single year, make them go to the doctor. More times every three more times every single year, just make them go and make them sit there and be annoyed in the waiting room with people coughing all over them for some to get prodded something, sticks somewhere in a in an orifice that they don't want. Yeah, some things so that they're a little bit uncomfortable or if vaguely hurts and they don't want to be there, do that two, to three more times a year for men and then see what happens to those costs out today. Yeah, yeah, subscribe. For two years. Oh yeah. That's not even. That's specific. That's not even bad. All right, one of the topics that's near and dear to my heart plastic. And this time, this time studies are finding that our clouds. Now, contain plastic, We eat and drink so you guys didn't really have much. I'm just saying that's where our world is heading. Okay. And vintage Jessie. This one, this one doesn't need to be, have a lot said about it either, but I'm going to Instagram ruined Leaf peeping so badly. On Vermont's, most beautiful dirt road that it's now closed through the end of foliage season, but I have to quote, there is one of amazing quote in this article from a local milk truck driver. I already love this. So when you Go do any of your other touristy driving, bulshit for the rest of the season. Please take this quote, seriously. He says, please come to Vermont and enjoy our foliage. It's amazing for the love of God. Please pull off the road before stopping to take pics. And please pull off the road inside of driving 25, in a 50, like, let the man do his job. Wow, people need milk poorly behaving tourists, they're leaving the place dirty, they're affecting traffic flow, all of this, and this doesn't just happen here in Vermont. It's being cited everywhere. There was a lake in California that saw Disneyland size crowds because they have like no 100. So anyways, come on, be better. Yeah. Be better. That tourist didn't roam like right after you always have to ruin shit like that? No, we learned about one. Beautiful. And then everyone goes and tramples all over and is rude, while they're there and ruin it or did social media ruin it. Because the reason why people want to go there is, they want a picture of themselves in that beautiful place, they don't even look at the place. The fact that just by Zuckerberg ruined, just buy a fucking poster. People like, you don't need to see everything photo or like find your own nice tree. Let me also say that like like the person who's photo you saw of them there smiling like they're having in the world right on the way on the Wizards unhappy. They didn't really want to go there. They take the picture and they all smile and that's what they show to the world. Like just, you know what? They even get out of the car, they leaned out and like 25 miles an hour. Just take, just take your coffee in bed at, the are the bread and breakfast in Vermont and then and call it a wonderful day. Yeah. Just be happy. Yeah. Yeah, these are hard for me. Except it as much as I'm not. Gonna choose plastic clouds because in principle plastic is in everything everywhere. In fact I just watched this video and the water you drink that you refuse to filter. I almost I almost sent this to you. Jesse it was a video of like like one of those stupid YouTube videos or somebody's like what would happen if humans disappeared off the face of the planet? Every single one of them and then it like was like 10 years from now? The Wolves would take over 20 years from. Now what they said after like 100,000 years they were like 100,000 years Only remnants of humans would be plastic shards of plastic and and fossilized remains or something like a million years just saying. Yeah, so you should immediately saw that. Well, that was the one line and I was like, Jesse would love that. I'm gonna go with women spending more as much as I want to choose Instagram here that because I hate it. I feel like the most exhausting thing is can we think of more ways that that like women in particular I think God just just more ways to make it. Shity just can we can make it a little shittier every little every way we can think of every little way I understand. But I'm going with the same thing. I'm gonna have to read this study backwards and forwards. Thank you son more. I think well I don't understand how people's insurance doesn't cover. Preventive Healthcare 100%. So clearly that's a problem with a bunch of these people, right? Like I don't pay more for any of my yearly checkups know but it's the following more it's like more. Okay, you go more sure. It doesn't make any sense to me because I do go more. So, if something was wrong it would get caught earlier. I supposed to men, who typically, I guess, don't go to the doctor and then they have like giant health issues and like, that seems to cost it out of money, but it does. But the way the system set up is like you pay your your co-pay, right? Like so like there's like a amount of money every single year that you have to pay out of pocket for the cost that don't get, don't even hit the insurance company. Really? Like, it's not really their responsibility when men, wait, and then like, go in catastrophic thing. Immediately cover their Kobe with their catastrophic thing. And then like the rest of it is, is like, you know, all covered by the insurance company. So ironically, the out-of-pocket costs are higher to you systemically skewed because of the systemic excuse. So if you would just have more heart attacks and like, it would be better for your life, which means we're on to who won the week and predictions. I actually think we all have a, who won the week and a prediction. This is that true except for maybe Jesse know I have a prediction. All right, so who won the week? Here's Damien's. Winner of the week. See Mets winner also are for her comeback Damian's winner of the week. Are you who was your winner? I picked the FTC chair Lina Khan. Apparently in 2017, when she was a law student at Yale, she went viral when she published a paper arguing that the American antitrust laws had fail to adequately. Stop Amazon from getting All this power over their customers competitors and suppliers. So she's taking them to court. She is doing and actually, I don't know that. I feel like she would feel good. Even if you know, It doesn't go, she loses she feels good. I don't think so. Um I my winner of the week is actually this line. From the Republican debate presidential debate, quote. Every time I hear you, I feel a little bit Dumber. Delivered by Nikki, Haley to one Vivek. Ramaswamy, who's been on the show? I just think it's a great line, and I feel I feel her pain Jessie, I'm choosing Kansas City Chiefs, and Kelsey, because his jersey sales, surged 400%, there was a 63% increase in female viewership for the game Kelsey's IG followers were up to 20076 percent and his podcast with the brother new high that's re educated me on top. The charts. That was just a while week for them. After T, Swift went to one game. That was a lot of things, all at once. Um, that brings us to some predictions Damien as a prediction, which will probably be wrong. And I can say that because he's not here, he's prediction is Qantas chair. Richard goiter finally leaves replaced by Jacqueline. Hey, who's another director on the board? The longest tenure on the board at 10 years expanding quantities. Wonderful. Glass Cliff, you know. If he were to leave I can see how she would replace him but there's no way he's gonna give that up. No, he's gonna get kicked out. He's not gonna leave like he's not gonna be like I'm out of here. He's gonna get kicked out. Do you have a prediction? I think that UAW strike will be over in two weeks and they will get a 25% pay increase. That's very very specific. My prediction is C Damian's prediction that was the same as his. So even mine is also about Damien and it's that he feels awesome tomorrow and he really just wanted a three-day. You know, you started this company. You just take a three-day weekend, just go out and invent caffeinated gum and then you got as much money as you need for the rest of your life. Oh, without telling like to my children. Yeah, no, that's all we got. That's our Friday show. That's Ari the day. Queen analysis. We are free float. The show is sponsored by free. Float, analytics.com. When we talk about board members, talk about their performance, we're talking about that go sign up. It's still free and free is good so you can get it there until next week. Goodbye.
