Live. From the business end, I'm wrote this for Ari from the business end of a Melissa's, certified organic carrot. It's an especially on special and rather mundane business pants for Friday. Wow, I just went into the library library voice right there. You like how I emphasize the wrong syllables and Library? Join. As always I don't you guys enough. Join is always buy. Ari the data Queen? Sorry no. Are he's not here? No. Are, he's actually got important things to do. Stop. Matt mascardi. The chief pundit extraordinaire. And Emma Larkin. Who's wearing short in the winter? Yeah, I am. Which proves that life is pretty good for Emma. Lurking. It's winter. Be honest, let's be honest. I run hot. I don't know what to tell you. It's a Friday show. It's a pretty normal friendship. No good game. Thank God means I can relax a little bit out with that. There we go. It's what we're doing this week. We've got a story of the week brought to you by me of all people asshole the week brought by of all people Maddie, it's weird how that weird Wow, we may or may not have a fancy expert. Well, we don't see later. Good list of the week. And irritating us of the week. Can I ask you how as the MC of the show which we've been doing for two years together? Why do you tease something that you know, is not coming? That's why fancy expert. I want people to know that. I want people to know what to segment of the typically it could be a segment of the Friday show, the last two weeks, we've had a fancy expert. So I want people to think about I want them to anticipate. We do we don't have we do have some fancy experts in queue if you are a fancy expert. And don't take yourself. So seriously, as to be boring, call us, who have we had We let's get right to it. Let's go to our fancy expert of the week segment. The other reason Matt, is that I when I create the new script and outline for the shows, I Copy, a duplicate, the document from last week and I'm not going to change the head. That's way too much effort. Fancy expert the week segment. I ask you this. Do we have a fancy expert of the week? Know. No. Okay. Well at least tell the audience in case there are new listeners. Is that happen? No. Tell them who we've had already. We've had I think we've had three fancy experts month or so in the last four if you count breathe it, too. So we've had last week, we had Bruce, Kahn shows Khan has like 19 PhD. He's working at msci. Now, he's a climate expert. We had Emily Chu who's the head of everything. Um, she's yes genius. Yes. GG genius. Can we support man told that we had a new show? I don't it doesn't really if you're gonna ask a person a question He's kind of one of those people. You ask all the questions to and then we had, I would do Brea iamo, who's a PhD candidate at and she studies the intersection of race and Technology. I mean, all I talk about is the metaverse, she's literally a meta genius so that's looking for the experts He is an expert. And I enjoyed having her as part of the show, but I wish she had come on live. know, she's Pittsburgh like you can't. I don't like email. Unlike Bruce, who had nothing to do. Like that's not true. All right, let's do. I'm on the show. So all are saying, that's what we're saying. Oh you think Bruce is listening this week. He's a fair weather came in and he left. He's got he's out good. That means that maybe we're more successful than we think that it's not just my dad Bruce. All right? Let's do this. All right. Story of the week. This was hard for me. By the way, what are we listening to today? I like this song, I like metaverse first version of verse mix. Here Comes the Sun, sung by Nina Simone, I believe. Wait? What? That's that? That's yeah. Yeah. Oh my God. Yeah. They stole Nina Simone. She was very stoned. I did not like It. All right, I have the on enviable task of story of the week, this week. It was a struggle for me. I gotta be honest. I really had. About 19 things I was looking at then I had 14 then I had 28 then I had four then I had 17, I didn't know what to do. Here it is. I wish Ari was here because she'd support me. I know you guys, I won't disappointed by everything but damn, here we go. I so I what I did is I grouped it into two main categories. Then I broke it down into two subcategories, here we go. The two main categories are shit, we don't care about any more but should ouch And shit. We still care about for some stupid reason. Okay. All right. You'll see how this works. Let's start with the shit, we don't care about anymore, but, should two things climate crisis in the corporate sea. Got it climate crisis. In the clip, rockers see the core Pacers in the climate crisis. We had and I think I don't have any of y'all picked any of these, but I'll go over them quickly in the climate crisis. There's some pretty big headlines. The That we that we really didn't spend a lot of time on and I don't think anyone else did either. Because, you know, I don't know. I don't know why. Because of your number two story of the week. I know. USC levels to rise at a faster Pace than the past 100 years. Extreme drought in Western us is worse in 1200 years. Yeah, Linger on that for a second and dark. This is my favorite Antarctic flowering plant growth signals climate crisis impact. That's, that's scares me that. Yeah, yeah. And then finally, for the ESG nerds in the house, I'm looking at. You Bruce major Banks pledging, Net Zero are pouring money into the dirtiest, fossil fuel companies. So anyway that's that's the first kind of story of the week climate crisis. Shit. We don't care about anymore but should Next month. Yeah, the last story for irritating us and then I didn't because I didn't want to have to hear Matt yapping in my ear about how, of course, that's what they're doing. It's still upsetting but I didn't choose it because I didn't want to hear it. First of all I chose all four of those as part one of my ass holes so that weaks. That's why I'm moving on quickly. I'll let you guys be the star of the show. The next one is the pork receipt. What do I mean by that? I mean corporations taking over our world and life the first headline here Walmart May soon become the largest primary care provider in the country. Yeah, think about that. Walmart, think about that seriously, we don't talk about Walmart as a fake public company, but they are a fake public company. All so aren't they? Yeah, let's spend some more time on Walmart and roll blocks. I want to get into those more in the future. Down for Walmart. I don't think I can talk for too long about Roblox just as a warning. Well, you're a prude. I want to repeat that headline one more time, just because I can't believe that people ignore stuff like this Walmart, May soon become the largest primary care provider in the country. And then, the other corpocracy headline was that Disney is launching a new residential Community for its fans. Yeah, that's right. How housing Disney housing? That's creepy. All right. Yeah. Matt's I know Matt's in because you know, now he's like a Disney fan. Know, it's obvious, it's obvious as their what is no like as a business decision. You're right. It's obvious. Yeah, it's a pre-med verse player which I like, grouped them up, save on outrageous meta. Diaper, shipping costs have them. All right, it's Yeah, it's it's perfect. And then we move on to the next category. Shit, we still care about for some reason and really it's Sports. Two big things this week were the Super Bowl. and really, the story was the ads because I gotta be real. I don't think there's a single person that cared about that boring game. I, I really, I'm tuned into the Sports World. I haven't heard anyone. Talk about that dumb game, who cares? I mean, does anybody care know the Rams have no fans and nobody cares about since I'm sorry, 2% of the fans in the Rams Stadium during the Super Bowl where Cincinnati fans. So they don't have any fans. That's all in the thing. I care more about is, I don't know if you saw that map of all of the private jets that took off from La after Super Bowl was over. But there's yeah, there's a map showing where all of the chartered private jets went immediately after the Super Bowl, I mean they won't support Portland. They went all over but it's just it was insane. How many of them there were and how far they were going? It was crazy anyway. Sorry. So that's the first thing that we still care about some reason, Super Bowl. And by the way, this was dubbed, the crypto Bowl. And yet. Only four out of the 73 ads were about crypto. So I don't even get that. Why is it the way too many? Go to hell? That's four times Wall Street Journal. What are you talking about? And then the final story that we still care about some reason. The Winter Olympics. I know Emma cares about the Winter Olympics. No one cares. Not even here. I'm gonna make you stop. No, Emma cares. Emma cares. And I'm gonna make her stop caring with this headline, ready? Water used for Olympic snow. Equal to day of drinking water for 900 million people. I'm a little less for the week you guys can vote on it. We got the essentially, it's the climate crisis, the hypocrisy, the Super Bowl they Winter Olympics, pick a story. I mean, I'm going Walmart. Okay. The choreography like, I'm going at the carpets. I like it, I like it. I mean, it's it's of the week here and I actually think that what you have is distractions as you're sort of second category from things that we should care about and the distractions are always the story. I don't, I think you have to make the Super Bowl. The story of the week, this week is actually, I mean this week, especially because the Super Bowl dominated and then there's been a lot of things about some bigger skater falling down. It's been a lot of headlines on like like, because she did, she did some drugs. And then there was the there was like, you know, story about like the girl who the, I think she was in the US who, like, tested positive for weed and was banned from like Competition Car Richardson and this Russian like a figure skater tested positive for like tripped him. So Zine or like some, like really bizarre substance. See, we're getting distracted again, but that's the point. Like these things like there they are. The they're the flashy metaverse light's distracting you from the climate crisis in the core boxy. So it's got to be the Super Bowl. Well, can I tell you? Okay, what's that? Gotta be your personal? Can I tell you why? I might be slightly frightened by, by the story that Emma picked. And I'm gonna I'm the tiebreaker here because we don't have Ari. I'm gonna say the winner is Why am I putting my initials for everything? Walmart versus the Super Bowl story of the week. I'm gonna say the Super Bowl. this say, All right. Why I'm a frightened by Walmart? I got one of my I got my booster shot and a CVS which essentially otherwise I mean if you wonder around the aisles of a CVS it's just a it's just a junior Walmart. I mean just a condensed version there's a lot of bulshit the CVS except for cigarettes so less sad Walmart. I'm 12% of that. I didn't say. It's a happy Walmart. So he So here's my experience, getting my booster out there. I'm helped by the 14-year old that the desk, right? Who's pimply and trying to, you know, trying to find my reservation. I asked to use the bathroom, the buzz him, I needed the bathroom. Before my shop because, you know, it's a medical experience. You know, we could have relieved myself, the bathroom is closed for customers. So I already were like, I'm concerned and then he, he doesn't really know where to put me, he puts me in a folding chair near the garbage and near the bathroom, that's that's broken. I mean this is the future of healthcare, right? I mean it's not even the future of healthcare, this is the current of Health. This is the today of healthy that was my experience. Yeah. So I I came up with some cockamamie story about why I desperately needed the bathroom and he, I talked my way into it, but what was the bathroom? it was pubic, he That's here. Definitely not an adjective. You guys are both wrong off the bat because you're criteria is incorrect. You're just you're setting yourself up to fail on this category every week because criteria is wrong, my phone, my phone, you guys are choosing the story that the media is trying to tell you is important. And It's upsetting to me because I'm trying to choose the stories that are legitimately important because that's my criteria first story of the week, and it's just disappointing to me and yeah, important. Yeah. We spent an entire show on Super Bowl ads and I got to say, when you ask amateur research people as she really, she's that perked, right up. Oh yeah. She's like, yeah, and read approxi. We're having a post production meeting that I have with MMOs days. She spent four hours blathering on about the Winter Olympics to me. I did not. That is one of her, one of her 18 roommates. All from Princeton is like obsessed with you from a Walmart while she was getting her primary care. Eating Taco Bell. Talking about the Olympics. That's Emma. I didn't even know there was, I didn't know there was a Walmart in Tribeca but Emma somehow Bill, she's white and audio personality on this show. All real. Can we move on to my sections of the week? Matthew do it. I have four options, one is basically Damien already covered so I won't cover it again. But um, number one, Asshole the week and no particular order. I assess institutional, shareholder Services, terrorist group. Is that a terrorist? No, it is a proxy advisor. Oh same. Here's why do they asshole the week? Here's the headline, quote. Apple investors urged to vote against a nearly 100 million PayPal package for CEO. Tim Cook. Now this is basically a troll of Emma, what I'm about to say. I s, s said, quote given that CEO cook will be eligible for retirement treatment after one year from the grant date the retentive, the retentive value of the award is limited. Basically what they're saying is by paying him 100 million, you're not keeping Tim Cook around. You're going because they didn't long dated options. Yep. Um, they were also concerned about the size of Tim Cook's package. And I don't know if you notice what I did there, but I did just make a kind of a dick joke. You see that? Yes, so did that. All right? This is why ISS or could be the asshole the week here. Apple did in the last three weeks, we found out Apple. Did what? No regulator no country. No company, no person, no Community has done yet. They fucked Facebook. The Privacy option on Apple's IOS. Yeah, it's just an option. It's, it's people being like, I opted in or I opted out just by adding that option is set to cost Facebook by Facebook's own estimate as much as how much teen percent of their annual revenue 10 billion dollars. That's pretty impressive, 15%. Not only that but the stock dropped a quarter more than a quarter in their value, when they announced it on the earnings call in four days. Later Peter Thiel announced, he's leaving the board. I say ISS. Shut off. Interesting, interesting. Hey, Tim Cook whatever you want because if he rides the universe of Zuck and Peter Thiel, that is the greatest thing that can happen. Don't be an asshole ISS pay, Tim Cook. That's number one. No. there's, Number two, you're ready for number two. The other ones are more and a friendly. Holy. Act on CEO. Cater. I love this headline is Peloton CEO John Foley to step down firm to cut 2,800 jobs. Why is John Foley and asshole page 23? Of Blackwell's capital. A terrible name Blackwell's Capital. Like it's I just said Blackwell ignore that. Yeah, you got it should be Blackwell. The section is called, it's the start of a section called Peloton is grossly mismanaged. I urge you, if you haven't, if you don't care about investor presentations at all and all that bullshit, this is the most fun investor presentation I've ever read. There are saying a lot. Let's be clear. There are 64 pages of discussing. How stupid Peloton is? It is the ultimate takedown of a company second to only Bill acting Herbalife? Here are the quotes from John Peloton. Here's why are John Peloton, John Foley? Here's why. Could you be more of an asshole? When these are the quotes of your CEO, Papa John Foley, let's go. Quote, I am not. I think I'm not a very good manager. Asshole, CEO says that out loud. Number two. Yeah, quote, I interview almost nobody. Congratulations. Who are you telling that to? Why would you say that? Number three, quote all sometimes go months without talking to our ctto. Yeah, your text. I'm with your company. You don't talk to your Chief technology officer. Number four. When when he was asked what his colleague's would say about him quote, I'm not sure. They would say, I have many strengths at all. Should I go on? Do I need to go out with more quotes? No, I mean, I quote, we don't really need to make money on our apparel business. He said that right after appointing, his wife to run the apparel business, you know what, that one's a little weird to me. He is he is that like a shot against his wife or is that just his way of deflecting that he's an asshole. There's no, why would he say that about is no one, no investor would take that and be like, Oh, okay, that's cool. No, his wife must have got home and been like, what the fuck, John what was that? And honestly, honestly, I would think with the, the way people were obsessed with Peloton, I would think it would be easy to make a lot of money at the apparel business. Imagine if you had like 100 employees in the apparel business and you just told them, we look at your expended, we don't care about you then giving his wife, busy work, Ugly know, it's giving his wife, a giant salary is what it is, and more options. Then he goes on to say that Peloton is going to be one of the few trillion dollar companies. And at one early on in Peloton as life cycle, he said Peloton was quote weirdly profitable as if he couldn't understand how it was, profitable turns out he was like, he was lying. It wasn't actually profitable when he said that, he said it was weirdly profitable and the weird part was that it wasn't profitable. Yeah. Well it was kind of not lying. Yeah, that is how you find weird. That is true, it's weird. Yeah, John Foley went on to sell, 120 million dollars worth of shares, he's taking out loans using 65% of his other shares that he currently owns as collateral shares. Those shares that he's taken out here. Allow him. 40% of peloton's vote. He is a dictator. Just sounds, just doesn't sound right shares that he's borrowing to get cash from for. I don't want to get into a big banking discussion but pleased that you can take out. Loan, using collateral of something. You already. Oh, I just don't understand that. Why don't you just sell the shares? Why do you alone? Can't sell the shows because it would look bad. So, he gets the loan. Oh, you already look bad. Then you don't even talk to your CTO. He's gone on to Outsource management to McKenzie. He basically hired McKinsey Peloton spent like millions of dollars to bring in McKenzie to tell them how they suck at managing things. And then one day, one day after this Blackwell's presentation, John Foley steps down and is replaced with the dude who's escaping spotify's current Joe Rogan problem, right? Then, they fire 2,800. People and gave them one year of free Peloton subscriptions as a oops. Sorry, you're fired. How could John fully not be asshole of the week? Yeah, that's tough to it's a good one map, but can we before you move on? We talked a little bit about the name Blackwells. We've obsessed over Black Rock and black stone. This is a nice new addition to this. To this triumph over here Blackwell, you know, worst part about Earl. Um, yeah, I went through, what is that? A lot of Blackwell's presentations Blackwell's presentations, black, yes, get rid of the S. What is this black? Well, they ended up buying a whole bunch of properties which they then turned around and sold to Blackstone. Oh, there you go. Oh, so maybe great. Maybe they're connected. They're not connected. I don't think they're connected. Okay, that's just confusing. Do you think they mean an actual? Well, like, I guess multiple stick your head. In a well, it is black. Black Wells, though. It's not, right? I'm saying if you stick your head in a well, It's pretty dark. You think that's different? I don't think you should call them up and tell them that I think they'll be confused by your logic. Well, I reached out to the to the dude, an hour ago, who wrote that presentation hoping he'll join us as if you listening. Please join us that made by freefloat media, your third ass hole the week. Metamates. Here. All right. That's enough. You know spend any time I know you know, but I want to paint a picture for you and you're gonna sit through it because I wrote it. Okay. I drink my coffee fast. Yeah, go here, the headline out with the Facebook in, with the metamates. Why is this an asshole movie? You don't know what that is. Zuckerberg announced that people who work at Facebook are no longer Facebook, or they're not metamates. So just I want you to close your eyes for a second. This is the perfect music for this, close your eyes, a second and I want you to think about what I'm about to say. So you've just parked your car in lot cue spot 1000 seventy four which is your sign parking spot. You stumble out of your discontinued Chevy Lumina you put on your backpack you're walking to your office which is now called meta the bullshit rebranded company. You joined after graduating from libertarian you You get to your office, you make your double espresso. You brace yourself for another day of messages from your friends, asking you, how you could be okay, stealing baby pictures and pictures of people doing chemo and order to help Old Navy. Sell you a weaker made hoodie for seven, ninety nine, but then you think but 799 is actually good price for a hoodie. So I'm doing the world favorite, right? I'm doing the world of favor that moment is when you get the memo that hits your desk requesting, an all-hands meeting in the teal Auditorium. So you turn to Sally in the cube next to you. And you mumbly asked, do you know what this is about? Did we influence another election or live stream of suicide bomber again? Sally characteristically ignores you. So you Wander over to teal Auditorium to see the great Zach himself sitting on stage next to leaning in capitalism Sheryl Sandberg. They're sitting there they're talking and hushed, voices, lights, go down Zuck stands up and announces, you know, you are no longer a face Booker A name that made you a target for car bombs and Welcome, Matt flaming bags of poop. Now, you are metamates a name. So ridiculous that the nine year old version of you just made fun of the 2017 year old version of you. As if morale couldn't be any lower, you will now be referred to professionally by a moniker that sounds somewhere between a water dissolved, fiber powder and a squishy yellow extra in a cartoon Steve Carell movie. And if they couldn't get any worse, while you're sitting there, listening to your great leader. Sir Zucker. Within 23 seconds of the announcement. And this is, I swear to God, this is real. There's an urban dictionary entry for metamates that defines you as quote. Someone who lost 26% of their compensation in one day, but still works hard to make their boss Rich one day. Again, that's the Urban Dictionary. Definition of what does that mean? What does that mean? It's that the Facebook lawsuit of its value after they announced that they go shafted by Apple that Emma Emma out of that because I don't know how sorry I feel for the metamates. They make a pretty good. They're pretty good. I mean is there a reason why they're there selling their souls? Because they have pretty damn good compensation packages. Yeah. Probably we're not talking about all the we're not talking about all the moderators and all the the contractors you talk about the actual he wouldn't give them. You mean you're talking about the actual employees in the contractors that make up some of like, 60% of Facebook's work. Yeah. But they're not metamate. They're the ones, you know, they're the name of all. They're the, they're the the reference. What are you saying that? These, what these are there? But these metamates are there because they're knowingly, they've traded in their their dignity and personalities before the stuff. There's a meta chat what they're doing. You mean the contractors to the medicine with But these metamates that you're feeling sorry for, I don't know, I don't know, I don't feel sorry for them. I what, I, what I think is the asshole. Move is metamates the name. Edamame. Okay, let an ass moving on your crushing. I will say Two things, some of your best effort there. One of your best. It's a bit of a meta mate, Opus there for you. I really. But with that said, can we please move on? I don't want to hear anything more about fucking last, and the last and final asshole. The week is our monthly installment of human beings, being the asshole of the week. Because as Damien already pointed out, flowers are blooming in Antarctica. Texas says, it's worth traveling 1200 years, you didn't report this, but I thought this was fantastic. Hanover New Hampshire had to end. Its and winter event, because they don't have winter anymore. Yeah, we have that problem here, too. Yeah, um, you just make the snow you It's obscene. USC levels are rising at the fastest rate in the last 100 years. Bothers me, and we covered this already, but one of the previous 21 cities that hosted the Winter Olympics could host It Again by 2080 because the climate change and Damian and I have the city name for you. Okay, do it, Sapporo Japan. Oh, I want to go really drunk and support your first year college really unsettlingly drunk. Congratulations, pour over here, 28. You can go to the next Sephora Olympics because they will actually Asian house party. All right, you got Issa ISS. John Foley metamates metamates and human being and jerks, okay. Emma. Yep. I can do this quite fast. All right. ISS Half Baked stupid, argument Al debunk, that momentarily. Don't you worry, that one's a no. Um, the human beings I'm upset with the lack of specificity on the human beings one because it I would like to reference the map of private jets disbanding from La. After the Super Bowl, it's the uber wealthy humans, who are the assholes of the week. It is not all human beings who contributed to this problem and then metamates that's there's a solid argument to be made for metamates. But unfortunately, I am going to go with the boring choice of Sir. John Foley X Peloton CEO and current Peloton director because yeah, really know how you out do that this week? I don't know. All of it so bad. Is bad. It is bad. Yeah, great. Yeah. What can you just lead the company? He's just step down is his and maintain because 40 you just leave. He's a triathlete. Damien, this is his passion. So he pledged 65% of his shares to take out loans, the loan sharks will get him. Yes, for the bugs me, an honor of Blackwell's capital. I will agree with me your ass hole of the week is Former Peloton CEO but current executive chair, and controlling shareholder. John Foley, you guys missed a chance to Cheer, Tim Cook for something. Oh, I'm kind of I'm good. I'm always conflicted on those. Those type of situations. I know, glass Lewis is not voting against true, that is correct. I know, I am. I am against runaway CEO, pay, of course, but I'm a, but I'm a four, Tim Cook. This is this is so short loyalties, I don't know. Can I just as an aside? I'm working on a something for Monday. The Nike proxy statement list of favorite Nike products for each one of their directors. So, I'm doing a little statistical analysis of that. So, as an aside, can I say that that there's something that was a real about Tim Cook. That really Disturbed me and I kind of lost a little bit of love for him today. One of his, his two favorite Nike products, one of them is Nike flex. Golf shorts made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. So I'm just putting that out there. Okay, homophobic moving on. Excuse me, moving on. Oh, goodness of the week. Featuring our favorite free. Float. Media person nambari Ari. Hello. You want to do, you want to already? Go ahead. No. You really gonna do that thing? That right now? I can't really do Ari's voice. Ari like Ari has just it's just it's outside I register. All right I'm gonna cook, I'm gonna yeah I talked to Ari you on a roll I'm just gonna rip through the headlines Matt's on what we call vocal role vocal roll with butter. He just He's Just Gonna Keep re driven goodly to the week. First the headline is a woman has been cured of HIV using a ground baking breaking umbilical cord blood transplant. Scientists say yeah so they cured HIV. Yeah. Who else would say that other than scientists though? I mean, who, who's gonna say a dug? Well, I wish that was the headline, but it's not. Then it would be the best list of the week. This is just good list. Number two, the headline is helping the planet with juice snacks and booze the context behind. This is there. There is a company food waste and turning it into juice snacks and booze as part of a circular comedy effort. We don't really need any of those things though. That's the problem. We don't really need you, but if you're gonna throw it away and you might as well reuse it here. Yes. Juice and booze, I hear you. And then number three is engineering. Re really like this one. I imagine. Yeah. The headline is a Next Generation. Chevrolet could have airless tires, which is that? Why is that important? Are we running out of air, Matt? What it was going on? No, but we are. We now need to say how often do you refill your tires? Are you one of those people? So almost no, yeah, you're not one of those people, which means you're the risk of your tire blowing out. And you get any an accident is significantly higher like, where am I going? Well, you have to borrow your mom's car to go anywhere about to say, hey, imagine wherever she goes. But even that is pretty goddamn infrequent. My wife, I found out was driving her PSI supposed to be 32. She's driving around with 13 at one point in the summer because she do it this this solves that and my engineering why to do it, okay, it's still rubber. Are those tires still rubber? Obviously, it's some sort of plasticy rubbery thing. Yeah. When you think it's going to be, that's what glass. Well, around, that's where I'd be excited. If we could move if we can move Beyond rubber. I was about to say, Just Flowers. I just don't really get the win here. It's an engine. What are you say to me? Why is this good? Are you gonna tell you that? This is an engineering win. That could save lives. That's what she's gonna tell you. Okay, but it's Michelin. How about we reduce the speed limit? That could help too. All right. Oh boy. This I don't know. Every week I have a problem with Aries, I'm going to HIV. Yeah, I never feels great as. I want to a woman has been cured. I'm going. Okay, I'm doubling. How do I know that's even? I just it's also like top of mind. I just watched Tik Tik. Boom, and HIV is a present theme in that movie. It's, it's HIV for me. Yeah. You talking some other language but I just like when scientists are sorry. Do you know my current wife who I refer to, as my partner? She worked at a diner near New York City in Manhattan. And one of her regular customers was a man who was riding the the musical Rent. and he was going on and on about this stupid play musical, he was riding and your wife actually worked at that Diner. Yeah, she that was one of her like constant regular customers. First of all, you have to start over because you call her my current wife who I call my partner, but you actually call her your current partner, as if you're preparing yourself like yeah, sounds a little army like I meant like ACDC, like alternating current direct current. I wasn't referring to time. I think anyway. I just wanted. I had a tick Tick. Boom, anecdote. So I feel like your wife is actually well this Well, the third part is that I didn't realize that she told me somewhere, recently, is he died before the success of the he wrote rent one day before its Broadway Premiere. Yeah. Miraculously got it Purdue. You know, could I at the time she was like this guy is a, you know, he's a blowhard, he's an idiot. He's not gonna get no one gets their stupid play or musical or screenplay produced like good luck buddy. But yeah, he died right away. He also rejected for Jon Stewart, your wife is significantly cooler than you are. I'm not asking you to ask you. I'm wondering when your wife becomes an hour. This doesn't gossip power. So for that, because of that long was the story. That pretty much ruined Bruce cone's afternoon. I'm gonna agree with Emma. That it's something about HIV. Although I read yesterday that there's a new, there's a new HIV variant. Is this true? You know, is that fake news? Nope. I just don't want to talk about it because I'm happy about this piece of news. Okay. Let's just move on. Congratulations, it's a sweet. All right, good choice. Okay, moving on, Prepare, I need some coffee for this next segment. It is your irritating. A story of the week with the Beloved Emma? I think the irritating. This thing of the week. It's probably the music underneath us right now. Actually. Honestly the 45th repeat. Oh yes. All right. Here's your first one. New York city mayor says vaccine rule keeping NBA player. Kyrie Irving sidelined is unfair after. Commissioner asks for review, we talked about this a little bit earlier during the week and map who did a little bit, but I'm irritated by this. So, here's the deal. The commissioner of the NBA said that it doesn't quite make sense. That New York law, allows a visiting unvaccinated players to participate in games, but won't allow the same for unvaccinated players on the New York basketball teams, he called on New York City to take a look at the rule, whatever that means. And a couple hours later like that, I think he made that statement in the morning on Wednesday and by the afternoon New York city, mayor Eric Adams responded and said that he also thinks this rule is unfair but he's struggling with how to proceed. Here's why this is irritating beyond the obvious. The reason this is irritating is because I don't disagree with Adam Silver, which is intensely annoying. The rule, I would argue, I like Adam Silver, I would argue that the rule is confusing, he's right. It's a confusing rule. It makes zero sense. That unvaccinated players from other teams can play against the Nets or the Knicks at their home courts. But their own unvaccinated players. Can't like, I don't really understand actually, actually, no, I make sense from some level because you can only there he's under your jurisdiction that they're trying to make rules to protect us during a pandemic. It's not easy. And here really like, give me a second. Give me a second. So seeing as Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets is the only player on either team. Then that's or the Knicks that isn't vaccinated. It's very transparent that Adam Silver just one Kyrie Irving to play because he's a money-making star whatever. But the correct solution is not calling on New York government, to like, change a rule for you to make money. It should be for the league to say sorry you don't care about public health. Goodbye sit on the bench for the rest of these and we don't care. But in Stead, he's like, Eric, Eric, can you change the law? So we can make a little money, please. Emma, you're a you're an auntie Flat Earth. What you are? Yeah, I am definitely your anti-cancer and I'm gonna say that I am an anti Flat Earth or Controversial. I know. All right. Number one was who you mad about their the mayor or the silver? It or Cairo? Everyone. All of it irritated. It's everyone. Yes, correct. All right everything. Okay, moving on. Number two, this one is a double hitter under the headline of billionaires donating shares. I did make it every week this one. No it's usually billionaires going to space and space dildos. Every true space is usually. All right the first headline is Jeff Bezos just gave away nearly a hundred million dollars worth of Amazon's? Whoa. See anything other than the word billion in the headline about a donation made by a billionaire. I don't care. You're annoying. Oh, two little Billionaire Boys. And because what if you're, Yeah. Okay, I'm gonna guess, let me ask you this. What if you're a billionaire that owns exactly 1 billion dollars? Do you want that billionaire to give away a billion dollars or can they save a little bit for like a new Honda little bit for Honda? If they have to send their kids to college? If you know whatever they need for food. But that's state school though. State School obviously and it's not a Honda it's a discontinued Chevy Lumina. Yes, and number two, the headline under billionaires donating shares is Elon Musk makes five point seven billion dollar mystery gift to philanthropy, which I talked about earlier this week, but I do have an update on it. So he donated donated, five million shares of Tesla worth about 5.7 billion dollars to an unknown organization, which is now speculated to be not an organization at all. But to a Daffy which stands for Donor advised fund, which is basically a charitable bank account. You can throw your shares in this bank account and they can sit there and they are now Tax deductible, but they never actually have to go to any organization. Yes. If you want my buddy actually does, like work to people on these things and he's been telling me for years that this is the ultimate con of Charity. This is yes, a pure con that's sort of pressing Emma. So it's like a, it's like a middleman money laundering holding get to. Yeah, except the right off immediately but not deploy the funds ever. If you don't want Correct. Emma. I'm not gonna yell at you. If you don't know the answer to this all yell. How do we know about this donation? Did Elon announced this. It was in his financial statements. Okay. So some irritating reporter. Doug it up. Yeah, yeah no. This is Straight from reporters, the irritating one. Why is this irit? Be like yes, all of this. Lovely press for a drop in the bucket from Bezos and a fake donation from Elon. Nothing much about that. Number three, number three, here's a headline. Apple investors urged vote against nearly 100 million dollar pay package for this already. If this sounds familiar, we did this. Yeah, I'm aware I saw and I'm doing it again because Matt got it wrong the first time. So we're gonna need to try it. Here we go. What? I don't care. What Matt says. Don't care ISS. Not the asshole and Tim Cook needs to get a goddamn grip. That is compensation. Somebody else did got a grip on a nice Titleist golf club. Yes. Timmy got paid 15 million dollars in 2020 and he's now increasing it to 100 million dollars. No bother them. That 85 million dollar pay increase year to year makes any amount of sense. How do you figures are misleading but yeah, keep going keep talking half the award doesn't even have performance criteria so he's getting paid for stuff that we have no idea how they judge it. We don't know what the criteria is for any of this stuff that he supposedly accomplished. And it doesn't say whether or not the package extends Beyond 2021, which could mean even more money than that. And institutional shareholder Services is urging shareholders to vote against the proposal and why this is irritating. What Matt did not focus on is even if the proposal fails Apple has every right. To ignore the will of the shareholders and pay him, his 100 million dollars. Anyway, if So we it doesn't even matter what the shareholders do at the end of the day because they can just ignore them, it doesn't, they can pay him no matter what which is incredibly separate point. But you're right, which is incredibly irritating from its traditional standpoint. That these are the rules. I cannot it is irritating to me. That these are the rules of proxies And just to put a pin in it if Tim Cook were truly such like an ethical adult in the room like you two always kisses ass and telling me is there's no way he would say except 100 million dollar pay package for a single Year's worth of work. I don't give a shit what they do with Facebook. No one should be making not a single human being should not be making a hundred million dollars a year for a single year of work. I don't care. That could be true. let me, let me broaden the picture a little bit so you feel even more comfortable is So that's the yeah, that's the total figure. They give you in the file. And you know those numbers are always a little bit confusing the last year, he actually he 200 and 282 million dollars of stock bestest in 2020. Yeah, right. So that's money in his pocket. This year 754. There's a there's a lot more to the story. The reality is that Tim Cook is damn rich. I think he's even richer than Matt. That bar is Hottie a very own mattress. Hi. Um, look, but I understand, I understand why we were talking. I and the thing that does irritate me, I wish I will agree, is this kakami American System of say on pay where you can reject. You're not voting on that pay package and it does not have, you know what you're voting on? Emma is irritated at the amount that Tim Cook is getting oh, here is My like this is this is why you're wrong, right? Because that month that pay like, I know you think it's like, nobody's worth like 100 million or he got a massive raise or whatever the case may be and that all can be true but that's true. Universally And in this case, the guy that you're angry about getting paid was the one guy who cost the worst guy. The most money. I cannot irritated. He's back to this. He already gave that I can't, I'm not irritated. I'm, well, I I want ISS to shut their apps and celebrate. I'm gonna, I'm gonna think Emma for bringing this up, because, actually, there's some great shareholder, proposals, Apple's upcoming annual meeting and I think we should cover them next week, including shareholder proposal number. Six, which is very simple know five which is very simple, reincorporate with deeper purpose. I like that. How is that a proposal? What do we think? What do we think Apple's board's gonna think about that. What do we think? They're gonna shoot? That one's gonna be a management. Says, all right. Thank you. Emma. So, you had so I have your noid with your Nori with it. You hate the Brooklyn Nets because you're Celtics fan, clear very clear. You hate billionaires giving money away. And which is an oxymoron, because I think deep down, you want them to give it away. But, you know, we can get to that later. And number three, you can continue focusing your CEO. Hey, on for some reason, Tim Cook she hates her, like just the tiniest bit. But yeah, that's about. She hates her. Typically your target so much. She was to get paid for it. I actually. Actually can't think of a company that you crap on more than Apple but and that's titled you guys want to kiss their ass all the time. So someone has to be the voice of reason. Yeah, I actually honestly, I don't I think I kissed Microsoft. Oh yeah. That's true. That's you've like Microsoft cunnilingus. I can't, I can't do the Kyrie Irving one because today means point is out of silver. Supposed to say, you need to follow the laws of every state that you go to or the state where you actually live and play all the games. That's a hard question. If you're Adam Silver to answer I don't I can't be irritated about it. I I actually am shocked that you're irritated that Kyrie Irving is unvaccinated like that should. That's should be the irritating thing. This shouldn't be a conversation at all because dude get Getting part. Yeah, the irritating part of the NBA because they they have governance over the entire league so instead of letting each state and city make up their stupid rules, which I'm silver did, he could have overrode all that and been like, okay, but you can't be in my land. Like you're not vaccine, you're not playing this year. Governor Abbott is going to say, then we're gonna break up anti. We're gonna like we're, it's an Anti-Trust violation. We're gonna break up the NBA, but Mark Cuban is under and everyone loves mark because he's a cuddly bad. I can't go with that one. There's just too much gray in there. I, I'm really against Apple which leads me. Billionaires, do any shares? I am not upset about the amount of Jeff bezos's like donation because, like, I don't care, it's always that way. The Donor advised funds. Yes me too. Absolute thing to be irritated by and I'm gonna go with that was my vote man that's my vote. Yeah, I'm going with the exact same I pinpointed. I I looked through all the weedy on nonsense of Emma's Emma's reporting there and I'm gonna go right there. I'm targeting de and I'm gonna reach out to a fantastic to join us. Talk about those One other anecdote from my New York City years is that the stupid Brooklyn Nets when they built their Stadium. The Barclay Center. Yep. They tore down, my first beloved apartment, and Brooklyn to build that. So, yeah. So so I can't even go back and wax, nostalgic with my dumb friends, over our first apartment and I hate you Brooklyn Nets for that. You can just point at the Giant Arena and say like yeah, I used to live now. It's no fun, no fun. All right, so most irritating are the daffs. Thank you for bringing that up. I'm out that that really did get my goat the DFS. All right. Who won the week. This one's hard for me. I know I'm gonna pick you do, who do you think I'm picking, I think, aren't you like satting out on this this? Trippy druggie Russian skater. I feel like you you're gonna be having a sad about that from the perspective. So I know. I feel like I'm gonna get yelled at her even talking about this, but you brought it up your own grave here. So now, there's a situation where the skater's one of the Russian skaters was refusing to go to the podium to accept her silver medal because she like, was yelling at her coaches, and she was like, having a hissy fit and everyone thinks, it's because she is eventually going to test positive too. and, Hissy fit is misogynistic. And she was saying to her coaches that like you knew the whole time, blah blah, blah, blah. So she's clearly very upset with them. So there is some more intrigued in the Russian doping Scandal once again, but that's on the point. Emily, that is not Russian who won the week. Absolutely not. Um, my I'm struggling honestly but I do think I don't know. I think that it might help you got what you want. Yeah. Yeah you got an answer. I think that I'm gonna go with The whoever's. Cold cord blood. They Use. That's good. Thank you. Left shark. Cord Blood. It was my winner. I think it was left shark. I'm going for wait the owner of the blood, that's correct. I am putting my boat is for Larry David. Larry David. Made me laugh. Not only during the Super Bowl ad. I don't I mean God I'm embarrassing report that I laughed. Yeah, that I laughed during a Super Bowl ad. I've never laughed during Super Bowl. Add this one. Got me and I'm catching up things to the. The wonderful ml lurking. I'm catching up a new season of Curb. Your Enthusiasm. Oh, it's just so funny, it's killing me. It's so funny. He's just so funny. This guy, he's my winner. I am torn between Ari and Carl ican. And I'm sorry. Are you always, you always do a Pity already filed. Our state paperwork for me because I did not have the energy to do it and so that was great. So just but I am gonna go with Carl ican because anytime you can file a slate of director proxy. Because pigs living crates and ignore. The host of other problems, facing not only McDonald's, but every other sole problem in the world, it you have to be winning the week. So I'm gonna go surprise that that didn't come up in any of our stories, actually, this week. All right, and Aries vote, is her roommate Kyle, I don't again. Yeah, I don't, I don't know why. But anyway, finally before we get to hell out of here. Does anybody have any predictions? I have a prediction, I do. Okay, You want to go? Yeah, I can go. My prediction is twofold but thematically the same. My prediction is that I think that if they make it to the playoffs, Kyrie will be allowed to play in all the playoff games for the worst, of course. And absolutely part two is that joke of it. Recently said to the press that he would skip the French Open and Wibble in to stand by his anti-vax. Thought process. But I think that they will allow him to play both Wimbledon and the French Open. Really even despite all the Boris Johnson he pandemic. Yeah, Scandal, yeah. I do think they're going to interesting because my predictions. I'm gonna go with what I was when I was doing research, I'm metamates. Actually, I hope you never have to again, meta. Mattei is a type of your mate. And yeah, it's true. It's a real thing. It's something you can buy and I predictions facebook slash meta gets sued by Metallica for copyright infringement. Matt I absolutely believe that prediction is being something that will happen. I absolutely believe. And I actually believe yours too. I'm a mine, might be a little bit more out there, but here we go. Two days. After the CDC, announces the official end of the pandemic is that what is that gonna happen? Will there be like a right there? Did they like, it doesn't work that way fireworks. But when something is compared a pandemic, the city can be clear over right. You think that we're gonna get any official statement from the CDC who said this week that they want to give people a break, my prediction? I don't think so. My prediction is counting on it. My prediction is counting on it. I just thought that there are certain criteria to declare a pandemic. They must be certain criteria to end the pandemic right to anyway, my prediction needs is to happen so just bear it out. Emma, stop talking. So serious. Two days after the CDC announced the official end of the pandemic. Charlie Munger does. Oh that's you predicting death. It's I know it's a sad. It's a set. I'm sorry I don't know. It just it just came to me. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I don't want to die before. Yeah, after the good news. So you'll know when oh that before would have been better because then when when he dies, we'll know when the it's like Groundhog Day When Charlie Munger dies, we know when the pandemic will be over. Well, I'm gonna say that the good news actually is that are just leaned over and let me know that her prediction of the week is that Charlie Munger will be resurrected using in biblical Cord Blood, three days after. He did not believe in that, though. I'm gonna I it's gonna be, it's gonna come from a woman in a, in a windowless dorm. I'm gonna know he's gonna happen. I'm gonna get pregnant, go to wherever Charlie. Munger is give birth and then say you cannot have my umbilical cord. Wow. That was great. That is the best pretty and I had a, I had a stupid joke that was yeah, that's our Friday show if you're a fancy expert. Quite a threat. What happened to float? 72 call us. Leave us a voicemail send us an email. Go to social. If you're not a fancy expert, go subscribe and listen to it.
