Live. From the day when we teach our children that God has a dandruff problem, it's a special business pants Friday. They're always special all Riders are special. Yeah. But you have to contextualize that it is, I don't care. That's why I grew up in the east coast, the east coast is the center of the world. That's the way that is, sorry. Sorry, London. Sorry Berlin, Croatia, sorry Tokyo Croatia, you know, you don't even know what's going on. Sorry, Toronto, It's all about us. We do everything. Join us. Always by Emma head shaking. Lurking, are the data Queen, who's looks a little that I don't know. Disgruntled today and Matt, father of three mascardi. It's the problem. Is it a snow day? Is that the problem? It's the snow day. Yeah. And our neighbors are like sick. One is a bug in the other one has like a stretched, cold Roadie thing. And so the kit. Well, they got tested for covid. It was all negative. So now like the kids like heard and they're like, well, I my stomach doesn't feel great right now and it's like they were hungry and so it's like the constant Ebbs of flows of child Petri dishes, can I? And they're removing the masks now in school, like masks go optional on Monday. Can I tell you something about notice? I had an optional. Very tops are optional tops like Topps baseball cards Topps? Yeah. No like cops like wearing a top school. Yeah I have. Yeah, I had a very brief Vacation to Boston, nice. I'm hoping we have loyal listeners, who noticed my absence and I hopefully they're all equally annoyed that I'm back. I kind of like that idea that they're like oh this is jerk is back. Okay. I took the train down. Took the train back. You know what? I didn't hear. You know what? I didn't hear. What coughing? Yeah, I heard no coughing or sneezing. It's like it's it's a it's like a miracle. I love it. I love this new age. I love you, just keep masks forever. Why don't we get rid of masks in public transportation? Why I don't know, I think the same thing. Why would we take the mask off? Why not? I would just sell it to my face, it'd be fine. Only problem is that it's mushes my beard so much that it makes me even uglier which I don't really like Like, instead of hat hair, you got mask beard. Oh, it's whoa. And I don't margin of error on disgusting this there. So it's kind of gross. Wow. Yeah, you just you did just blow my mind. All right. It's Friday. We're gonna do all tell you what we do. On Fridays. We do the story of the week asshole of the week. Fancy expert of the week. If this, if they show up, good least story of the week irritating, a story of the week, who won the week, predictions, all the other weeks. Come on. Let's do it. That's gonna be like, what's yeah? Get right? Wow. Yeah, are singing. Right. There it is. Oh, don't even know the second phrase. No, second line. Every week, I'm gonna give you an 80s. Oh, All right, I won't know we're rolling. Start after a roiling, it should all be from the soundtrack of Wall Street, please. All right. Go through the week. Making a time. I got five quick stories. I'm not going to belabor the issue. I don't do a lot of like pontificating like Emma and Matt. So I'm gonna get right, here we go. Now, I call these the precedent stories. Hopefully, they're setting up a positive precedent for the future, you know, me. I'm the weird idealist that the hopeful idealist in the show. And that's why Matt hates me. So it works, it works well. So boring, here we go. First possible precedent to stakeholder activism. This is a story that Matt's covered a few times, but it's heating up this week and I want to give it a little attention. I think it's important. McDonald's Pig palsy fight escalates with board nominations. Matt, you pointed out the day, I thought you cows. That's a yeah, right? Why not? What is that the escalation of pig? Because I would argue that pig is the better meat. So, um, that's a good point though. Ari. Like, is it do you really think that they're treating all of their cows, right? What are the chances of that? How's that possible hero? Or maybe at Carl ican's other just doesn't care about cows. Well, I actually she Jewish. Yeah, Matt just wondering, I actually Have you looked at McDonald's menu? The full menu? I've been McDonald's. Yeah. because if you look at the formal McDonald's menu, there's It's almost all beef, right? Like you can get the sausage egg and cheese for breakfast. And that's where all the pathways. Is there any? Nothing else on the menu is baking? Their bacon. How much of the pig are you using for the? I'm just saying, if we're doing a percentage game, right? And you have Animal Welfare, as a thing of yours, would you target McDonald's for the thing? They sell the house? Absolutely love that animal and cows. you would so, I don't understand it at all. Maybe they treat their maybe they massage their cows with sticks of butter for their whole lives and that's why there are going after the pig. Well, part of it is okay. We know we think we know why curl like comes out there. Doesn't care about Kyle. She just loves pigs. That's part of it. The second one is that they actually promised 10 years ago that they were going to remedy something to do with pigs. Here. But that's because they asked him. 10 years ago about pigs. What were they asking about the cows? I guess that they're they're hamburgers are just too delicious to get involved with this. I mean, how could we live without a house or from California? And everyone knows that they have faced cows or in California. Like whoever came up with that branding. Is a genius, everyone, wait. That's a real thing everyone. Yeah. Are you kidding? It's a branding thing that has from California and that's my first happy over there. FYI tour listeners. It's a lie. Okay. I believe you because you have a Patagonia jacket on. So I think you Well, I will, I will say, since 2007, there have been four animal rights proxies, right? That I've actually gone two. Just yeah, 2017, two of them are about using cage-free eggs, just the eggs, not the chickens. So we're already lower on the, there's probably fewer eggs than there are pigs. So, I don't, I mean, I don't know about that, and then the other two were about controlled atmosphere killing. It's the way they kill the animals that one seems like, like the, I mean, like the volume like a broader category. Yes, the Foo Fighters, when they killed him, the one, the volume, like a four, not like it's seven. I'm I'm pretty sure that's exactly what that is. Yes. All right. I promise. Not to belabor in. Here we go. So that's my first president, bring attention to sprinkler activism. Oh the president is that? I'm hoping that yeah, this is one of the, I don't know the story that people can kind of glom on to as like, oh, wait, we can, we can fight back, we can be activists, we can be, we can rock them up. We can hate pigs, I don't know. Whatever. You know, he's got a he's got a documentary on HBO. I'm hoping people wake up a bit and they're Putin, depression stupid here. Go number two. The next one is interesting to me only probably because I am always fascinated by this. So this is about SEC versus Kimball's brother. and my question here is that if the SEC ultimately fails to rein in, Reckless. CEO Behavior. Does it provide a future template for nutty CEOs? This is kind of like the Putin. Trump. Thing? Because I mean SEC. Clearly hates Elon Musk. There's a lot going on. Elon Musk is yelling at them saying that, you know, that they're leaking stuff. It's messing with his free speech that sec's fighting back with an inside trading probe against the brothers. What rules is he breaking? Are they laying that out clearly. So this insider trading probe is directly as directed at that. The fact that elon's brother sold stock the day before elon's pronouncement of should I sell my stock? Remember he had that Twitter poll. Look, yeah, they're gonna lose that. That one's gonna fail, but there's, there's clearly a existential battle going on here. Because this is sort of the first CEO that has this sort of that uses social media, kind of recklessly like a stock price influencer. I think he's more than that. I think it's technically I think it's insider trading in general, what he does but I don't know that it's easy to nail him on it, but I think he manipulates the stock price of his company through social media and I don't know that he's breaking a law but and I know and he's and I give him credit for being very successful at this massive market cap. For a company that there was a story that I tagged today that something about the The brakes might not work you know like it. Yeah so I mean it's a constant the car can't. Yeah they might not stop. There's a clause constant flurry of failure at Tesla cars and back in the day when we were at the mothership it only took like a couple of stories at Ford for it to like, you know, crater the company for 10 years. So I don't know. I That's my second. I don't want that one to be. I don't want them to raise you like it? I mean it's the entertainment values, you really high and it's like I don't know. It seems like the trade-off is worth it to me. Everyone needs a good blow hard in their life. Number three, we talked a lot about nfts and stop us. So here's a, here's a battle. Maybe this is the only way to get rid of. This is another another stakeholder battle hundreds of sale. For some employees, are rebelling against the software, giant nft plan. So maybe I thought maybe this is our only hope maybe her only hope for the future. In general is it's it's workers fighting back at companies. Is that? Oh boy oh boy, that's our only horse. Hope that's all. Look at the. Hope it hasn't been exercised. And maybe that this Next Century will see that we're going to, you know, I'm always the one who's saying, you know, maybe the stakeholder power is rising slowly. So this is a potential. I mean, I'm like, I think about Facebook where they've gotten what the f Where is everybody? Well, you can see how many people have said something leaked, something done. Something. Well, I obviously many times at the idea that the only real way to combat big Tech eventually will be its Workforce like I agree. That might not be any other way to deal with it. That if they did collectively like Organize against it, I don't know. Like what would Zuck do? I mean, I don't know, but I don't know. This is my, this is my third story. The next two are kind of a mini kind of woke data celebration here, the US Women's players and US soccer settle equal pay lawsuit. Finally, This was a lawsuit that was filed three years ago. I can't believe it took this long because I still can't find a person who knows anybody on the men's soccer team. I can't believe it's been three years. There were trying. Yeah, three years. It took three years to figure out the map. There were like wait the men got how much? Yeah. How are they so bad? Here. So this is our first sort of Big Pop Culture meets pay equality, Milestone. So hopefully an important precedent here. And finally, so sad about this is good, right? I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled by I always climb onto these like pop culture moments hoping that they'll be meaningful going for it but then to the world's so chaotic that nothing matters anymore but let's not get into that part of my fear. The fifth one that's we jumped there fast. It's one of calling the the melody Hobson award which I'm very excited about and that is that Biden has nominated katanji Brown Jackson. To the Supreme Court. There you go. That's my pig. That was good. That's not my pick but it's good. I missed that actually picked. I think the probably the most Progressive person and this is not, this is clearly not a someone who was stumbled into the pick. This is someone who went to Got her law degree at Harvard, Harvard and served as a Harvard Law this is a qualified person. This is not like a bunch of you know, anywhere that is amazing. Also can I just say that I do dislike that To get to the Supreme Court, right, Harvard? Yeah, no. I'm with you one step one Princeton, I don't know. Well, Lindsey Graham's Choice. My favorite senator from South Carolina, he was actually saying the exact same thing. He was pushing another woman, who was on, the was on the, the short list of possible picks Biden, but he was pushing her and making the same claim that you did. Are which is that she went to a public university. There aren't enough of them. I don't think he really believes that, but that's what, that's what he was saying. He's trying to push someone that will let her later. Get discredited for not having gone to Harvard sure. Yeah, he's And and his choice while he while she was on the shortlist was decidedly more anti-labor. So not a not a big fan of the progressive. Caucus. Harvard Harvard isn't the only big Supreme Court like representation you know it's looks it's almost an even split Amy. Coney Barrett was the only one who went to Notre Dame. Oh right? Everybody else went to Yale or Harvard, right? Well yeah and there too. There's actually more Yale. I think in this instance we're and I don't mean to speak for you. Are we basically thinking yelling Harvard at the same thing? Yeah. Monolithic. It's the same thing. Law school. But anyway, that's not the important thing because don't, I don't want you to tarnish the melody Hobson Award with your Android so she already. Did she already ruined everything. Everything is ruined. So those are my five choices. And Emma took Emma's already went with brown Jackson, right? Yeah, I did. Um, The, I can't go with that one, because it's good, but it's not the story that weak women. Soccer, waiting three years. It makes me sad. Person, a good story of the week. 400 sales force employees are signed an open letter against the nft plans, for, for Salesforce. They have 29,000. I was about, I'm gonna, I'm gonna go out on a limb. And pull this 400 people. I was about to find that information to my story and I was like, I knew it would be a disappointing, like, wow. So I left it out intentionally. It is the biggest who cares 9000? I don't I don't want Kimball's brother Elon to go away, which leaves me with fighting overpaid. All right. It's a big story. That is the story of the week and that is the story of the week. If we're ignoring the fact that like the world, we're going to World War. Well, so ignoring that I thought, you know what, I I should have picked ahead. I'm assuming that the man's gonna cover the war so that's why I kind of left him out and it's not a president. I want to celebrate. I thought these were all precedents that could be celebrated and I will say Matt to your point and are maybe you can be the tiebreaker that from from our point of view from the ESG woke data. Point of view the car like icon fighting the pigs is is kind of story. the week, it's for us, it's just Yeah. The story we care about. Yeah, it's the brine story of the week. Are you want to be? You can cause a tie, you can be a tiebreaker. What do you think? I Am going to cause a tie. I'm actually going to go with the SEC versus Kimball's brother. Because why? Because I want to know what they do about it. Like they have to draw. Clear lines that everybody needs to understand, right? I don't know before social media. What did people do? They give pressers to try to sway. I don't know. You know how did nutty. Yeah. See goes. And if they've never existed before. How do you deal with one? That's very public about whatever, you know, having their heads. So I I'm excited for this. How do you deal with not jobs? Well, look. For the most part and I think they still do it this way. They tend to they put their voices into their filings, right? They don't usually talk off the cuff and spread nonsense through social media. Most CEOs are pretty quiet. But I agree with you are in the sense that, you know, we're always talking about how we're talking about trainwrecks after they happen. We talked about this before a lot. Well, setting up guardrails, right? This is a chance for the SEC to set up, some kind of guardrails because this is the future CEO. I guarantee it like, it's just gonna be a wild west of nonsense and like, I think we're going branding having personalities everywhere in the internet. I think we're going back to people about social media. You guys are literally shooting on. The only those where I get right now too. Oh, he's dating somebody else. Oh, he is. That's true. Oh, I'm a nose. All. Not gonna, he's on the next season of Love is Blind. I watched Love is Blind. Wait, you do. I've got what happened? Yeah, the finale tonight is blown same way. So are you a secret like trash TV watching you just never admit it? Or is this just the only one you indulge in? Now my wife is attached to you and I'm in the room and then I watch it and then you get caught up. We watched like the Korean dating show called Inferno Island. I don't know that North Korea know, that would have been a better shot know, but it was like, it was like everything about love is blind. That is so like Americanized and like super cut, right? Like it's so curated all like you see you missed so much the Korean version of that is fascinating culturally because it's like the Conceited, the show is that you don't know what the contestants ages, or what they do for a living and you can't ask them. That's like Seat. And when I saw that, I was like, what a stupid fucking conceit, right? Like, I don't like, well, you can't have a conversation without saying how old you are. Yeah, I mean, come on, you can easily. And then, at the very first, literally, the first image on Love is Blind. It's like, Shane 29 like Works in construction. Like it says like exactly it says that, that's what it says. And it's like, oh my God, I didn't realize that was so important. That that's the first thing we need to know about something. Anyway, go watching for only that's it. I can't believe that talk about love so excited. All right, so we gotta tie that leads me to break the tie I guess. Yeah, I can't. Yeah, it's McDonald's all the way. Do you keep it a tie? I'm I'm a big fan of the US, Women's Soccer Team. I mean, I should say huge fan. I really am so I'm Gonna Keep it a tie and nobody cares about this game. Anyway, man, so if it's a tie it's fine, whatever you pick wins. We have a lot of listeners but I sometimes I like to shout out to Tom, who I know is listening? Love you dumb. As always Matt, why don't you help us out here? Give me get us. A stupor of my horrible story. Let's do asshole the week. Oh, asshole of the week. All right, so the asshole of the week, I only giving you two options. I actually wanted to make this the Goodluck the week, but I can't convince Aria anything. So, I went with asshole the week, number one, asshole the weak choice is Putin. Yay, but not for the reason that you think The reason why Putin is my asshole the week is, he's distracting us from Yahoo. Finance is calling the actual thing that we should be focused on in the business World, which is the fed and inflation. My God don't, here's the quote, here's a quote, I'm seeing this pop up everywhere. The same sentiment quote, Thursday's head spinning reversal, which if you don't know what that means, it means the market was way down on Thursday because Russia invaded Ukraine and then popped way back up and basically made it all back Thursdays head, spinning reversal. May be a hint that investors are starting to put Russia, Ukraine behind them. Consistent with the idea that you politics doesn't move markets for very long tighter, monetary policy. Then is starting to concentrate Minds. That's right. They're saying. That we already don't care and markets about Russia versus one day. 24 hours is amazing Ukraine. It's been a day Well, day it happened. We already stopped caring point. So, put your point. It's up. 7. 4 7. That's a big that's a big number. I and this is why Putin is the asshole with week because you can't even go invade your neighboring countries and maintain our interests. That's true. Do something to maintain our interests like, like do, I mean, this is ridiculous people to, like, come on. Oh, you gotta blow something up that people care about, like, isn't there a statues like a Confederate statue somewhere that you can blow up? And then we'll spend six weeks on Fox News, talking about it. Making it more interesting. Putin, you're my asshole number one. Number two, asshole, the week. Facebook on Facebook. Not for the reason that you think Facebook is the asshole a week because news came out today, that Russia is partially blocking Zuckerberg because he's been filtering out. Russian State propaganda in Russia. Wow, not allowing Facebook's not allowing Russian propaganda on their platform and its let a lot of people who are anti-russian invasion. Talk about the the actual how angry they are. He's the assshole for making me like something that they actually did. Suck wait. Go. You're so you what sock to filter out Russian propaganda. They should be filtering out, Russian prep propaganda. But this is what they should inherently. Not really considered a great thing and is illegal actually here. Anyway, so generally it's also slightly subjective. This idea of what propaganda is or is not and you want The company run by a dictator to decide what's propaganda? I mean, how do we even know how they're making those decisions? I don't like anything to do with Zuck honestly. Look if The Russian government if Putin is annoyed enough with Facebook, that they're going to block it, that's my evidence that evidence that he's something's working. And that makes me angry at Facebook because I just prefer it, if they went back to spreading misinformation about. Like, how gays hurt fabulousness or something? Like, give me something. Give me the normal misinformation. Just let me hate you. The way I was hating you for being a fake public. Yeah. I love this information about it. That's what I'm saying. You can't tell. I'm at a buzz summon buzzery for telling you. That's you don't just told Emma to buzzery by, you know, to be pushed around. All right? So Matt's choices are, are Facebook, do you really mean Zuck? You've already made Facebook, whatever fate? I mean, they're the same song and one, dude. Those are two as sucking poop. Anyone want to weigh in? And this is I should say my asshole the week. It is the dictator Edition. Oh, that clears it up. Who wants to vote first? Oh man, are you both helping each other out? This is how we got here. These two people. I'm gonna vote for Putin. I think he wins funny. How it's probably, like, the way to go. What do you think? I didn't make it just as I would love to be quirky and different. It really does feel like there's only one answer here. I want somebody to choose sober back. I'm really sorry that person is not going to be me. I agree with Aria I'm going for World War II asshole Putin. Honestly. This is not even for a joke, I Putin's like so obvious to hate and and of course I hate this, I hate everything about this but I don't know he didn't you didn't tell your story right Matt because I agree or irritated. I feel more irritated at Zuck today. But because you're telling me this because I'm just sick and tired of him figuring things out on the Fly, I cannot stand it. I just like what is or isn't proper gonna what he is gonna block? I thought isn't he supposed to be libertarian, isn't it? But freedom I I miss my head spins with this ass hole and I'm done with it. I'm going Mark, I'm done with it. I'm sick of it, I love that, I love it. But honestly I think that like I'm it's almost refreshing like this old school like hostility where it's just like dumb soldiers. Mark Marching In because at least you can identify the enemy more easily. Zuck is created a world. That is to me, like, makes my head spin. I don't even know how to control anymore. So, You just made me angry or Matt so I'm voting. You just like OG dictators. Not the new girl. Oh gee just seems easier control. I don't know. There's just something that seems so simple about it, but but the new ones is just, I'm figuring out how to deal with what Zuck has created to me is over. So I'm going exactly, but I'm still loser because it looks like you're not even talking about the metaverse, and I know, That. Well, I like the Damien blame said I didn't tell the story right, but that's that. Opponent stories, that there's no way telling her right, really? The asshole is the market who doesn't care about this anymore. No, stop it. Well, I thought about, I thought about the market, but that was, yeah, that was born. Um, thank you for that and boy, okay? And sixth grader, I mean, what can you go with that, though? Blame the market? I mean, what are we supposed to do with that already educated? Boring socialist, 6th grade education, can't go anywhere with that. All right? Who's our fancy expert of the week? Matt, we don't, I am. All right, here's a call out to everyone. Come on nominate yourself. We've had three very successful fans. The experts, we have some we do. We have a pipeline. Yeah, next week it's just this is when it gets difficult to schedule and people like, look, I'm going to say this. Your job is not nearly as important as you think. It is. Just get on the phone with us for an hour and join us. We're so fun. It's great to be there is a fancy expert. Shut up and get shut up. We've had four fancy experts three that were alive. I'm Gonna Kiss only one of their asses. That's the the last one because I can't remember anyone else. Bruce Kahn. The dude, he just jumped on in. Hit it out of the park. Come on, it's easy. I just show up. There was no prep work be yourself. You literally just showed up no prep work. He hung out with us for an hour doing here people. All right, that's it fancy. Expert of the week we got none moving on. Oh, my favorite good list of the week. I like When Ari. Presents. Borderline confusing choices. Well, I like can I I like absorbing her sixth grade socialist mine. I say are because you are what? One of the best like most positive people. I know really, you're such like a breath of fresh air. He always come with a smile, you're always excited. You really, you know, I'm being sincere Elevate me for my suicidal, stupor almost daily. But then when you come with your girliest stories of the week, I'm always like, is it really that good? Like, I feel like you don't bring something that really makes me feel like, I don't know. I was like, look, if you were to ask her the real good story, it was the I figured out how to pull like this python code, so I can tell you how, many phone calls away. Susan Schwab is from next week. That's, that's the problem. Two people, you want to know how many degrees of separation you're the data, Queen you, if that makes you happy, I was running some stuff with her. Okay, see I think the stories you pick. You're not totally behind, that's the problem. All right, go ahead. Take it. Okay, so driving in this morning, NPR For you as companies will pay 26 billion dollars with a B. I actually had to stop and be like the same million they say, billion million wouldn't be enough, but billions a lot it was billion. this was claims, they feel the opioid crisis. Now this oh has don't get me going on this. This was announced today that they were going to pay out starting in April over the next. I think 10 years but it's J and J and years a Mary Source Berg. In, thank you. Yeah. I never know with the cheese here. I don't know McKesson No, pick combined 26 billion dollars. I mean, tell me that's not great. No companies doing anything wrong. However, all this money is supposed to go towards rehab and treatment of people that Got hooked by them pushing their drugs. Well, re really is really falling falling for some drug company propaganda. And I think I'm probably has some stuff out here, but can I just say this, Matt, I know you're indulging in your favorite. You know, like love is gay. What is it? Love is blind. Love is hetero. What is it? What are you watching? It's Love Is Love wine. Is there anyone watching? Don't number one show in the universe. Is there dope? Sick on Hulu? I watch still about the second family. Not yet. I have watched dope. Okay, I know you're okay. Remember talking about that before? Like this better than you because she reads. So if you read the book or have watched the show and you're you think this is good. This pit of a payout. I'm sorry, I don't feel good about this Arts billion dollars. No, I don't. I don't feel. I don't feel like it's. I don't know. I want people to go away. What was the second? It doesn't matter to me. I like, I money doesn't, I don't think money solves this. I don't know why I get trouble for anything anymore. Exactly. You want people to go to jail and money? We got money. Okay, six six billion for going to death just so you know. This is nothing. The well each of the each of the people is going to be about five to six billion that you've listed like because there's like five people and 21 billion 26 billion like five six and and, The payout is over 18 years. That's sucks. My be. All right, starting in April. Look good. I want it. I want to get behind that. Being the good story, The Gallery, store the week, but Emma's covered it before made me feel like crap about it. Except it's really just the same for company. Anyway. Yeah, 18 years. 18 years. Johnson and Johnson, just for reference Johnson and Johnson made 80 billion dollars. Last one year and they're they're 80 part of the settlement is 5 billion over 18 years. So they're paying about less than 300 million dollars per year out of 89. Billion. Well so 300 million out of 89 Bill their revenue time. That's a parking their revenue times. 18 years comes out to over a trillion dollars. Just saying, you know. All right, pre-production is the axle of the week here because I got no help with headlines. This are you can always I'm about like through the talk and just like these people are only pulling terrible talk. I'm here, let's talk about it. All right, what's next? Next this is the story. Make everybody feel good about themselves. Okay, well better be back because it's the only one is as bad as burials for the environment. He's good. Okay, why is this good? I like the story. Why is this good? Why is it good? Because it's a way that you can help the earth when you're dead. But dying less. You say can I ask a question? I don't know. I'm 100 like legally there are always. Yes, Emma. Can I ask a question about how burial is different from Human composting? Like I assume that there's no like casket involved. I assume that. There's nothing that you put into the ground that can't decompose. But like is it just barely minus the embalming in the casket. This is expedited composting. Right? So we embalm people. It's called what's the deal? Preserve Why do we, why do we? Yeah, for an open casket. Like, if you want to see them open casket ridiculous. Wait, what's the term for that? oh, And yeah, okay. But the sun l Anyway. Yes, a silent Alex. Correct. Oh, just so, you know, everybody who's listening, notary grew up in Peru. So these these were I think it's hard for me. So she was 11, she was in Peru. So the right is that true? Yeah. Firmer deny. so I say, think weird anyway as our listeners have probably noticed Now listeners, let me tell you. There's this new way of getting rid of your body after you're dead and it's called Terra Mission and there's a company in Seattle that's doing this expedited composting of your body. It's only legal in three states but then I found out there's another thing. That's called water cremation. And that is legal in 15 states in water. Cremation is basically they boil your body until it dissolves, where they have nothing left, but your bones and teeth and then they grind that. I have some updates to make to my final will and testament. Yeah. All right. Good about anything. You just said. Anyway, I don't, my, I do. I feel great about it. I actually, I wanted to be just like, so like when we lived in Seattle, Seattle has industrial composting. So it's, um, they give you like, you know, you have a, you know, a bin for garbage, a bin for recycling and compost and actually relatives. Yeah, when you get the bit you sent. So the size is the bins are funny too, because the composting one is the biggest and your trash bin is the smallest and you don't realize how much crap you throw away until you have the option to compost, like almost everything industrially. But the that you have the option to go get the dirt from the city that you made. I would love to like, oh, when I'm dead, then my wife a dirt back and it was like, it was like me and then she's like, I'm gonna go it's gonna be like flowers. That's really satisfying. That's really satisfying. I'm behind the, and it's way better than a fake settlement by the opioid. Yeah, look, we have two choices are. I mean, this one, I guess this one's obviously, for banking. While black and getting discriminated. Matt, is she allowed to add a story? This lady. No, no, no. We're not, we can't just add in. All right, the disappointment, can't suddenly A precipitate. I'm gonna vote for The Cremation story. All right, I'm sorry, claiming composting story but but the human composting only by the version that Matt's talking about the boiling human, that's terrible cremation but terrible the one that's not it's Tara Nation Tara that's great. I love Latin word for Earth. Yeah, I 100% want a bag of dirt of my Dad loved when you I'm gonna boil a person for so long. Like the meat gets gray and it's just it's depressing. It's funny because they didn't use the word boil at all. They just said the heat the water up to soothing Degrees. Oh, that's like boiling. All right, we can move on. Well yeah, Emma's not falling for that. You can't get em out of. Think anything about that. Opioids. Just wait, it's coming. Okay, everyone's good, we're getting into the week I'm working. Come on. All right, and I will wrap it up store number one, Amazon called the cops on a union organizer, who was bringing food to warehouse workers the NYPD arrested him and to Amazon workers. In addition, I want the story to be true. Is this true? What do you think? I'm just like making up fake stories. Well, I don't sometimes, you know, that'd be cool. We live in a weird age and you see a lot of weird stuff and I just seems so ridiculous, but I just think this is the greatest. No, no, this is 100% true. One of the people arrested. I talked about this on actually yesterday, show with Matt, but one of the people arrested was Chris Smalls, who is a former Amazon employee and the president of the Amazon labor union, he was arrested for on three charges, trespassing, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental Administration and why was he quote unquote trespassing? You might ask he was delivering pasta and Grilled Chicken to the workers on their lunch, break in the visitors section of the warehouse. He wasn't even in like the warehouse itself, he was in the designated visitors area. Can we applaud Chris Smalls for grilling the chicken? I love grilled chicken. What really is my take when Emma did the story? Yes. Before My reaction was we Chris Smalls if you're listening and I know you are call us up. We would love to come. Have you on to talk about what other kinds of pasta you plan on bringing like pasta with? You know like broccoli. And that was really interesting. Like yes yeah I like a bowling games like a pasta bowl and yays like I can this is where we want to Hash it out right here on business pants. We're all right a little bit more context. Amazon said that they didn't make the call to the police but there is a video from the arrests that shows one of the police officers on the scene asking Chris Smalls to leave on behalf of Amazon and in a report from Vice, they also had Witnesses saying that Amazon representative came outside and told the employees that they were calling the police right on Christmas. Also keep in mind that Chris Smalls is the same man who got fired in 2020 after leading a protest in favor of increasing covid protections and In an internal Memo from Amazon Executives, they called him not smart or articulate. Oh, I remember this. Yeah, yeah. Well that's that's because he grilled the chicken. Yeah, that's probably what, Damian in math or slacking each other about me. I was gonna say but you to be fair though, to Amazon know we called you sixth grade socialists. Your face we don't need to be fair to Amazon. You don't have to be that smart or articulate to grill chicken. I'm just saying I disagree. Moving on number two because Matt does it? Well, definitely not articulate. Do you definitely don't hear so dumb from Amazon. Why would they do this? They knew they're gonna get terrible press what in like, what? Because all pressed? They don't want the very end, they don't want. Yeah. But they, they know what they're doing. They're fighting. They don't want this to happen and I don't know if you notice this story is way below the fold of Russia like Ukraine right now is like, if you're gonna news dump Damien used to love like these, these kind of news dump moments, where it'd be like, you were so distracted by something else. Why don't every company right now? Should be like, we're restating our financials where we just fired our CEO for having sex with the, you know, his neighbor. And what whatever you're going to dump, dump. It. All right. Now, because you cannot get above Kiev is, is being invaded, right? Like, you can't get above it. It's great. It's great. You're not gonna get fired. No One's Gonna notice. This one is perfect Chris Smalls, the Christmas guy. They already fired speaking of bad stories. Here we go. Number two inside the mass. Exodus at co-star real estate's, biggest date of firm where 29 current and former staffers say the companies surveilled and humiliated them. So, Insider published this piece about the toxic work culture at Coast star. That details things such as executive telling employees that they're doing a shit job and in suggesting that they're lazy workers monitoring employees time by the minute and forcing the IT department to secretly, check up on people, under the guise of checking the speed of the company VPN and employees getting berated or potentially fired. For things like looking at their phones or not turning on their video during calls. So all of this is horrible. But what makes it truly irritating because horrible and irritating. I would argue with different what makes this truly irritating. Is the company wide memo that the CEO sent out. After the piece was published. And so the letter said this in direct reference to a key source for the piece, a person who used to work there. So the quote is sadly this individual directed a fringe reporter to a small but vocal group of disgruntled former employees. For whom co-star was not a good fit rather than being open to learning about the real co-star group. The reporter chose to write a sensationalized story that grossly mischaracterized the employee experience within our company. First of all, I would like to argue that Business Insider is an exactly a fringe reporter not entire fine but Here's this, here's the only stat that matters in the reason this memo is so annoying. The company lost 37% of their employees during 2021 which is about 1500 workers and 75 of which left voluntarily, this is wow, double the previous year's attrition rate. Yep, that's something yeah, that's something. Yep. So okay you send out your little bells and pretend like this wasn't a real thing, all right? Number three that's CEO, Andy Florance, yes correct. Who hosts see if you Of course, fair enough Damian's all about the co-ceo. So I get where you were going with that. All right, number three, Texas. Sue's Dallas. Suburb that wants to keep mask mandate. I have nothing else to say about this. This is obviously fucking annoying number four, new okay, Apple prefers fine to obeying antitrust order. So this isn't reference to multiple finds that the Netherlands has levied at them. The most recent being a 28 million dollar, fine for not fully complying with an order to offer payments outside. The app store for dating app providers, this is irritating because and I know Matt's gonna be all like, blah, blah, blah, blah, of course, this is what happens. This is the way the world works. This is in irritating because I understand why it happens. I don't care, it's still irritating. You shouldn't get to choose. Whether to break the law or just pay a fine. Like, that's just buying yourself law breaking, well, abilities, that's beating like who Said this fine. And why don't they make it higher. So they care which leads me to my point, which is maybe I should be more irritated with The Regulators for not making the finest higher. If the finds multiple billion dollars, maybe it would be better. Emma. Yes, isn't isn't that essentially what happens when you get a speeding ticket or you kind of giving the option of paying a fine or like? Yeah, and you know, what works in Finland, you get a speeding ticket proportionate to your paycheck. This is true and second Emma. Oh, I we don't have to talk about this now, but I I don't buy and I don't know if Matt's in agree with me here, but it's Apple's App Store. You don't have to buy an Apple iPhone. I don't, I don't care about this. Well there, why not control their own app store? Why, why can't I, I don't I just don't cry for these people but they're not, they're not complying with Federal Regulations. Okay, Okay. Damn, wow. I got shut the fuk down. Okay. Don't I care in the Netherlands and they're not complying with their app store, get over it. Wow, I'm saying. so you want the Netherlands to not allow Apple to operate in their countries that what you're saying Well, the know he's saying that they shouldn't find them because it's Apple's App Store. Look. Yeah, I'm saying there's a lot of ways to get Anti-Trust with a lot of these big Tech, these big data companies. I think this one is always been weak to me. It's just like tough. I don't know, it's there. I just don't, I don't buy it, I don't know, I don't get that one. I don't get that. They can't control their own app store like they have to. They have to be the the benevolent first grade teacher for all the apps in the world. I just it's just doesn't, it doesn't swing me, doesn't sway me. I don't know. It's the reason that I thought about here but you sound irritated by this headline, regardless of the reason. So I know gonna take that as a win. Emma, I'm just secretly irritated at you because you come after Apple every week and yet you you're surrounded by Apple it with you. Okay. All right. Number knowing that they make such nice things to have. Number five, Elon musk's boring company has submitted a proposal for a 6.2 mile underground transit system in my Miami for the love of God, please. No. It would cost about 185 to 220 million dollars to build. And just for some comparison here, Miami, recently purchased 75 electric buses to replace some of their Fleet. It's going to cost them about 72 million dollars. Oh, this is my ask just don't do it. Spend that money on 2209.16 more electric buses Damon and not the only ones who can do math here. If they were to spend that money, they could get $229.16 more electric buses. Wait, Miami would pay for the boring company for the tunnel or the board? Yeah. Oh Miami would pay. Yeah, Miami would pay and but it would be a tunnel. It's owned by me. I mean, it wouldn't be exclusively owned by the boring company, right? No, I don't think so. The boring company. Yeah. I'm going to borrow a hole into the ground. Yeah. Tunnels look tunnels. Oh, dare you Emma, why don't you Why don't the big dick? I love the big dick. The greatest thing Boston so much better because of the big dick. Come on. Is it or should they spend that money on like public transportation perhaps? I do love that one. Silver line. Hello, big is awesome. Isn't that for public know? Yeah, in my mind I'm like Subways self-serving but no. Yeah I'm with you. I'm with you. It's not a Subway. It's car. It's all test out. Can't be irritated by that. God, I'm I'm with you now. I mean, you didn't sway me. I love, I love to hate Apple once in a while. I'd love to hate Elon Musk, but your last two swords in swimming, who wants to vote here irritating, a stories of the week. 6.2 miles. Are you don't like that one? Do you? Cars cars. That's like the, the one in LA. Right. Vegas, Las Vegas. Yeah, this one, it's smaller. The vagus is three is three miles and the trip takes like two and a half. Yes, or something like that. And they had a traffic jam, and they're all three areas, like they aren't for the actual residents of things. Still Uptown. What irritating? Even though I'm gonna, I think there's is that's the last because there's not that no way, no, no. Just There's no way you can't pick the answer, one. I mean that one's just true like like you that guy got a lot of press Chris Smalls, got a lot of press begging for like covid protections than Amazon had to give more covid protections. He was doing it really early and then the rest of the world basically caught up with him, he didn't go back to work for Amazon. Amazon didn't call him up and say like hey you were right? We were wrong. We'd love for you to come, do whatever with us know, they firing for for bringing grilled chicken and there for bringing that they arrested and they fired him for sticking around worker Health. Well, and that's just brilliant. It is, but in a lot of ways, it's a win, I think it's a win for labor just like it was a win for the, the cumulative arrests of Martin Luther King and Civil Rights Movement, like, it was a PR win because it was ridiculous to arrest this guy. So Damien, I think it's ridiculous. I ridiculous. I think I can push this story over the edge for you by giving you a small tidbit of information. That he was released from jail, the same day and later that night, he went back to the Staten Island Warehouse to give dinner to the night, shift workers, and other pasta. I think that's the only one I could vote for, although my irritated by that. That he got arrested, why not? I mean you should vote. Actually, it seems like you want to vote for Emma. Yeah. No, I love that. I love when Emma makes me. You got real. You got real. I love what Emma. See, just like was saying with Ari. I want Aries, good stories to make me feel good. I want. I'm Emma to make me feel irritated in general. I feel like you to win. She That's true. Let me ask you this. I'm a, the, the Dallas suburb that's being That's being sued. Can't they just pay a fine to get out of it too? Just like only, it would, it would seem not if they're getting actively sued, they have to like, go to court and do the whole thing, you know, the real question is here is, can you imagine me caring about a Dallas suburb know? I can't go. I'll go with. Yeah, go ahead. Well, I'm gonna pick the boring company because that's really freaking annoying irritating so much. I Here. No, for real. They just want to put more Tesla's there, right? Boring company. Yeah. Like oh yeah, you hate this one boring. Tell me why you try to sway me why you hate that one so much Ari. Why do you hate that? You're Building because why do you hate the things you hate? They just want to put more Tesla's in it and it and like, Miami strikes. Me sorry, Miami strikes. Me is one of the people will be like, oh yeah, this sounds great. Like we'll, we'll drive more cars. And I really thought I was gonna be a Subway. There has already been some positive reinforcement from like Transportation officials in Miami. Okay, that's why. Is it was eloquent enough for you. You know what it is? I I'm not clear again. I'm a big fan of sixth grade. I'm a tunnel Fanboy. I'm not clear. I'm not exactly clear why it's bad. I I get why Emma irritated by everything. Elon Musk. I don't I don't really get, could it not alleviate some congestion about the? I don't really know. I haven't you know what would alleviate a lot of congestion? Oh yeah, of course. Absolutely. No. Yes it would. But I'm still not irritated like I'm on that one. I guess I might even irritated by the Amazon things, I think it makes them look bad. I don't know what I'm irritated by here. I'm telling you, you're irritated by. Am I? Yeah, I'm gonna go for Emma. Great. Okay, are you and what did you vote for Matt? Amazon, I voted for Amazon because Emma did years ago. Emma. Didn't it all annoy me? yeah, there's Yeah. Yeah, I voted like 40 minutes ago. When you started thinking, go ahead and break the tie. There's no tie Amazon one, both you. And Matt, did I could tie it if you want? I voted for, you know, you know. Oh my god. Um, so okay, you're gonna choose Amazon know. I'm gonna choose the Miami Loop just to piss off. Damien, Know, I'm not. I'm a pissed off by I'm I'm intrigued by Ari hated so much. Okay, he likes moving on. Oh, that's it. Here's cars and also makes holes being like Oh, I'm gonna make a hole for you. So you can put more cars their next cars and all makes holes. I like the idea of that the two things cars holes and cars what so let me just before we get to who won the week. I'm gonna wrap up for you that you're attending a story of the week is Elon Musk wants to build a tunnel in Miami. The story of the week. Is it now you can cremate know you can compost yourself right or simply your your loved one can compost you which sounds terrible and depressing Putin is your asshole of the week and your story of the week. Is this is a four-way tie between a lot of nauseating nonsense? All right. Yeah most about who won the week. So he goes bad. I would say Chris small. Yeah, I'm a secret. I'm gonna say let's take Putin as wrote. Of winning the week so we don't have to pick him at all because I'm tired of it already like the markets. I'm over Russia versus Ukraine. I don't think it was Chris Smalls who won the week, Chris Chris Smalls won. 40 seconds of our Giggles for showing us the Ridiculousness of Amazon again. I think Carl ican again, you vote for him last week. Thank you for. No, I didn't vote for him last week. Did I vote on the call on the documents last week? You can't confuse me? Well, I bet you I can I vote for well, I think he kept it going. Oh, I like it. Oh, I did think that she actually. I mean because her announcement came during A lot of media attention somewhere else. So I think it'll yeah, it's like Somebody planned it and you're right. It's like a it's like a brief moment of good news, which is nice. I'm going for future Justice Brown Jacks and that's what I'm going for. Yeah, I think that's the clear winner of the week before we end the show. Not a 79 year old angry at Big crates. I just like that. We've had our first two week, winner. This is, this is gonna turn into, like, a like a Britney Spears. Number one, hit, like how many weeks will? Will he last on top of the charts free float, Billboard Awards. Any predictions? I have a prediction. I'll I like to go first here because I don't think that you guys always fill these out. So it gives you time to think of a prediction here. Oh, the labor. Mine, a bit. Here we go. My and this overlaps Matt's pick of who won the week. My prediction is that Carl Icahn will divest his 200 shares McDonald's stock and that's that's worth equivalently, 50,000 dollars. Yes to McDonald's. Stock trades pretty high above almost 300 dollars and he's gonna buy the following with his new money. He's gonna buy a 18,000 Dollar Kalamazoo smoker cabinet. This is a top of the on smoker. Nice. And by 87 pounds of hamon Iberico, which roughly sells for 150, dollars a per pound, and most expensive, meet one of the most expensive Meats in the world and then delicious. And then the leftover 18,000 dollars, he's gonna buy a top of the line, Slayer espresso machine to wash down the delicious hand that he smoked on his new smoke or 18,000 dollars so machine. Yes, yes. Here it has And it is Carl Icahn. This is like it actually is like Penny stamp. I was I was hoping it was more like he was gonna buy the band Slayer to play at his birthday. Party is gonna be a pig roast. Whoa. That's the irony of course like They're actually gonna bury the pig like Kahlua Pig. Well, cook it underground. Glad you point that out. Right? Because the one thing, the sad thing about this whole story about, you know, McDonald's in the pigs and Carla, is it? And the daughter who supposedly loves pigs is that no one's actually calling for people not to eat to slaughter and eat pigs. It's just how you treat them before you murder them and eat them. Like that's, that's the little knot here. They're not going to say is that we're We're all we're fighting for here is is how they're how the pigs are living before we murder them. Okay. And you want them to, that's the great activism that the great car. Lots great daughters looking for. And that's that's not much of an act. It's not much of a stand. I'm just gonna say that it's not, she's not really going off on a limb here. They live in horrible condition, I mean, so I don't understand. I'm saying irregardless they could be living in the top of Trump Tower and a penthouse, you're still going to murder them and like the 8th month of their life. Like, how was this? Good for anything. I want to move on any other predictions. I have. They just they just need better branding like the Happy cows in California. Sorry, go on them. Um, I have some Future death predictions. So okay. The best kind of like, yeah, he's my favorite. So it's not about like someone dying in the future. Everyone. You know, it's kind of about our deaths in the surrounding circumstances. Oh, so here's the deal. My prediction is I when I die will water compost myself, I will be boiled into Oblivion Ari will carry know you won't be doing it yourself, right? You're aware of that. Oh no, like set yourself on a. Okay, well imagine this. I'm a maybe you climb into the water bath right? When you're about to set a timer, Tell your Alexa to start boiling two minutes after your diet and in that case you did you did technically water company. So, okay. See okay, I wasn't even at that level complexity but that's not great. Okay, Ari well, Tara meet herself. And then what that sounds amazing. And then Damian will be put into a sarcophagus. Very, you know? Like a mummy. Yep. You're gonna be mummified and then Matt is gonna Matrix himself into the metaverse forever. So Matt will not actually be dead. His body will be preserved and Matrix like state. Where his Consciousness only exists in the metaverse, Ari, Damien, valuable hot be Consciousness. That'll be the true art. I'd rather turn. Here's Matt, we'll go to the I would rather if you threw me in a peat bog right now, just repeat by. I didn't even think about that. We all also in addition to our prescribed burial death methods, we all have being thrown into a peat bog as an option. Just sounds romantic. All right I have the other direction. Sorry. Yeah well reading about all these ways. It's called a death space. I thought. by the end of the year, we're gonna have met a weeks for sure. That's it. Met awake. Meta wakes. Oh my God, I guess that sure. Why not, right? I mean met anymore, they're gonna go into, oh my gosh, here's what I'm more invested in is meta. Weddings can you can there be met a wedding? So I don't ever have to travel for someone's wedding. You don't have, here's the, here's a trick about being an adult, but I have to go to the wedding. But why are there weddings anybody? And I Harbor so much guilt. What am I supposed to do with all the guilt? And now, I could just go to the meadow wedding. The Guild would be a suede. I wouldn't actually have to go So that you never have to go to wedding again. Oh, Yeah, when 9th grade socials, I love it. I'm gonna join you with that fight. You, well, you beat my representative. Absolutely. Oh well didn't ask Matt true. I'm the least adult here. My all I will double down on the meta prediction. Oh, but I'm going to, it's not met a weeks that I'm predicting, I'm predicting that after four years of fighting Putin will be annoyed at fighting in the physical world and moved to met a fighting and I take it, it'll be a metal. I would take that. Well, do you mean Beyond? Because they Russia already does do a lot of that, right? As part of their their military strategy, I'm just saying we're gonna move like a, to your point about like you liked old, you know, the OG data who's like, old that old fashioned thing where it's like, you send a bunch of, like, young people with a weapon to go shoot at some other young people with a weapon because you said you should do that, that's gonna go away entirely because the young people are gonna be like, I'm not doing this and then they're just gonna, they're gonna be so annoyed with it. They'll be so many dead and whatever there's gonna be like, all right, we're gonna buy 16 million Oculus Rifts, Put them on. Let's go, let's go fight some people and college duty, but For land. Yes. Yeah, yeah yeah. And and when you die in the metaverse you die in the real world. Just wow. Oh my gosh. All my college guy friends will be like this. So we've been training for You still have friends who are in college. I would still. I'm sorry. No, her ex College friends, but you would actually expand the military significantly if you knew that all it was was playing Call of Duty trained. oh, they're really ready for it. Thank you all. That was a Friday edition of business. That's all we have. Yay. That thankfully we're done. That is Damien Rollins. Are the data. Queen Emily. I met moscati. We're a few float media. We'll be back at you next week. You know, a lot of people actually like thank their staffs here. Like they're like, I'd like to thank our producer and our copyright, or, and the internal coffee. We don't have that. Should you think your children for sucking the life out of you today? God, it's really, there's specials are already says that with a biggest smile on her face. I don't, it's creepy. It's just funny because I have children. She gets, she gets all the perks of ontari comes over like gives him toys and sugar, and it's like bye. We'll be back next Monday with more 24 hour around the clock coverage of Carl, I can in the pink Bridge.
