Live from not Ukraine. It. Wait, wait, is it? Okay? Okay. Am I allowed to admit that? I'm kind of relieving. I don't live in the Ukraine. Is that okay? Like, is that my dad? I'm pretty sure everyone's relief, they don't live there. I like you more today. Maine. It's a war scented version of War flavored business nuggets. Sorry, I'm not trying to make fun of anything. I'm just being honest, join is always by Emma, zelensky, lurking. I'm making fun of someone there either. There's a lensky or Emma, I don't know which one and Matt Moscow, just, I mean it just worked no alliteration. I not an excuse. I'm not Drew Barrymore and today's camouflage bag called February 28th, 2022, War. I shouldn't say it like that war war. No, war. You were excited, admit it. I mean, this is the thing that makes me the one before we get going. You know, who I'm like, kind of Like hating for being sickly gleeful. About this is like CNN and like you know there's like about this all the news outlets are psyched when there's because so much news. Yeah, all the time. Like CNN because they don't they don't know what to do with themselves anymore. Now that Trump is gone so they're probably just like thank God for this for, I mean, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm saying that a lot but here we go. Let's see the truth. Ready? Ready. All right, first, I'm gonna just have a bunch of quick, quick hits. Feel free to interrupt me? I'll try to go through this fast. This is all the, the news. Rounded up from the business pants perspective, this is how the war is affecting, basically publicly traded entity's or things related to Wolf data, ESG all that, here we go. Under new export control regulations sanctions Intel AMD and Taiwan semiconductor, reportedly suspending processors shipments, Okay. Is that matter though, Matt, I mean, do they need new computers right now? I mean, is that really gonna help anything? We're gonna like warheads and stuff? I guess. And there's a surety right begin with. So they have 6,000 nuclear bombs, is that going to screw Russia? That don't get one student one show. Okay, One Last Ship. One less bomb Airbnb will arrange accommodations for up to 100,000 refugees from the Ukraine. That's sounds like something not to crap on. Yeah. Yeah. Here's a big one. From our perspective, British energy, giant BP, I don't have to tell people what BP is, they announced it was offloading. It's 20% stake in Rust now, which is a, the Russian State, controlled Oil Company. Also CEO Bernard Looney. And former I think former CEO. Bob Dudley are resigning from Ross neff's bore. That's like, that's kind of big in our world, right? Kind of state run. Entity isn't it? We love that, we love board. We love like Angry board, resignation like that would be like if someone announced they were leaving the Facebook board in the world trucks because who cares. Which okay, Matt. Which one are you more interested in BP divesting? And leaving the board or Derek Jeter. Diversity from the Marlins and stuffing out CEO, which one is bigger. Yeah. Unfortunately, this cheater Norwegian Energy Group Equinox. Also divesting its joint ventures and Russia. The Norway's largest, you know, they're huge, massive Sovereign, wealth fund is exiting. Its Russian investment FedEx and UPS is spending shipments. That's that's like the only important thing it's because and there you go. With the chip the processor chips. We don't need intel to make a move because they're not gonna send, they're not going to ship them out anywhere, right? Do you think Amazon had a statement about no more shits where they annoyed too? Yeah. Whereas Amazon here. Meta, Banning some Russian State media, Outlets from running ads or monetizing content. Also taking sense of steps to combat misinformation. They always say that I don't, you know that with a grand assault. Yeah. They also said they shut down influence and hacking campaigns targeting users and Rec Ukraine. Maybe I believe that one. But did they get it all? They never get it all. That's the thing, right? No they get 94% of it. So it's only that really viral to the other billion people in the world. YouTube suspending ads from Russian State media, limiting access to state, funded media companies, Sputnik, and RT. I like this. Part of the story is that YouTube is immensely popular among Pro Kremlin Broadway. Elon Musk activating starlink based in response to Ukraine's, plea actually asking Elon to do this. And finally, for all the hyper nerds and Mothership lovers msci. Yes, I'm a CI is in this. What? They said that they are okay. They say, removing Russia from indexes is the natural Next Step, meaning that they haven't actually done a thing yet, but they had a meeting. Discussing whether to do with things, that's exciting for msci. Having a meeting, right? I mean, we've been involved in some of these things in the past. I mean, I wasn't at the meeting per se. But where they where they kind of like, oh, okay, should we do something like everyone else is doing something well here? Well, so wait a minute, Much as I love the Mothership. Do it say something they they had they're talking about removing it. Russia is three-ish percent of the Emerging Market Benchmark. It's not nothing, but not a lot, but the reason why they're talking about removing Russia. Is not Russia. It is that the Russian Market is currently a liquid. Like, it's untradeable like it's the so logistic problem of trading in Russia. That's right. It's not really, they're not really doing a thing but but still kudos to make it onto the Yahoo news. I just think that's a good job. All right, they should they should self congratulate. This is a, all right. That's my Roundup. Matt, what do you go? I have time for another edition of Business Leaders, take a dump on the toilet of leadership, Ukraine, war Edition. What do you mean? Take a dump on the toy? What does that mean? Aunt, take a dump on the city on the weather right position there sitting so she should be Business Leaders. Take a dump while sitting on the toilet of leadership. All right, we'll have to Workshop that later. Today, the sunrise, the Deep excretions of wisdom on Twitter by CEOs, just leaders. Yes. Take these is a lesson and how to handle geopolitical conflicts starts of nuclear war, killing of innocent civilians. These are the things that you should say or not. Say as it goes on Twitter, let's start off strong first up. Tim Cook Apple. Yep. And Emma contain your excitement. Tim Cook tweeted quote, I am deeply concerned. With the situation in Ukraine. We're doing all we can for our teams there and will be supporting local humanitarian efforts. I am thinking of the people who are right now In Harm's Way and joining, all those calling for peace wisdom alert, Using the word deeply implies human feelings and the word deeply thinking implies artificial intelligence. These are excellent ways. Tell your customers that you as a leader, are somehow human, in a poll. I'm sure that was conducted somewhere. 97% of respondents said leaders should be human. So note to leaders sound human, I think he did a good job there. Sounding human. He is a bit robotic, Tim Cook. Yeah, I kinda. I know what you're saying. Wisdom alert number two. Timmy got two, wisdom alerts, Tim used the word quote situation, and it's brilliant for two reasons. First, it says, nothing about the missile strikes against Residential apartments in Old Folks homes, right? It's a situation We don't need to be specific about the situation situation situation, second. Wasn't there a guy on the, on the Jersey Shore called the situation. There was in a while, maybe that's who he's representing. okay, second talking about the situation would make customers want fewer iPhones anyway so this is your goal is not to lower sales, it's to to sound human Third, it makes it possible to not talk about the fact that your company opened, the only big tech office in Russia. Just three weeks ago because the Kremlin bully you into doing it. One word, you avoid talking about all of that. So, well crafted. Wait, Tim, what do you want to give some background on that? I wasn't aware that Apple opened the first big tech office based in Russia because Russia actually issued a statement to Apple Google. I think Facebook that they needed a physical presence within Russia. If they wanted to continue to operate, their apple is the only one to comply and they open the office on Lake February 5th. Good timing. Well done. Well, to be fair, it's not like the whole world was was jumping on booting an anti-russia before this event, right? I mean they had annexed the Crimean Peninsula, they did a lot of shady stuff, but no one was really talking about. I'm just saying, yeah, it's just fine, it's fine, whatever. Let's move to Tweeter number two, Nathaniel bleacher of Facebook, who I like this. And can I just say, first of all, I want to add a few things. Know what for about Tim Cook, none of his peers are tweeting, anything. That's so I'm just gonna say this, we checked everybody, right? Emma. We checked everything. We got a list, we could even prove it, you know, sooner. So yeah, none of them. All right. Second of all props to anyone at Facebook using Twitter, as a means of communication, we know Zuckerberg famously does not use it. Why would he know? So, I'm kind of impressed that some Facebook nerd is actually on Twitter, because it's like kind of supporting their enemy. Anyway, keep going so Nathaniel glitcher had, I don't have a one quote, because it was a 10-part thread in which glitch your outline, the efforts of Mark Zuckerberg to quell misinformation and hacking of key Ukrainian and Russian accounts as you talked about earlier Damien, he said, it is important to activate two-factor, identification. Generates strong passwords beware of phishing accounts. He laid out a whole bunch of things that the users should be doing to protect themselves against as head of security as the head of security wisdom alert. You don't have to bother writing your statements in local languages at all. Your customers really only care about English. There's no need for someone speaking in a foreign place to read or understand what's happening CEO's that speak Foreigner questionable anime. Anyway, stick with English. It works like 19% of the time. That is brilliant. Wisdom. I think, from the Tweet string from Nathaniel bleacher, I don't know. That means Last. Yes. CEO. Wisdom from Twitter Richard Branson. Okay, so this is actual with real wisdom. Now, you've actually you've entered the sphere of you don't have to glean the wisdom of real wisdom. Yeah, this is real. This is real wisdom, quote. Yes, it's the weekend. But this is real, this is real. This is really, this is, yeah, he really starts off his tweet with yes, it's the quote. Yes, it's the weekend. But in Ukraine, it's anything but a weekend. Think what that means. Exactly for a minute of the children, the mums and the dads, the young men and women bravely trying to defend their country, the wounded and the dying. Let our thoughts be with them this weekend. All this weekend. Wisdom alert, that's three. Three weekend. Drop too much weekend. Wisdom alert, what's going on there? Be sure to alert people in your statement. What day of the week? It is customers, want CEOs, who can tell time and dates. So it's important to point out when they can party while Wars happening. Now. At least we know when we should have our thoughts at happy hour at Sweeney's bar on Friday afternoon. Thank a dead mom or dad. Oh, really great. Wisdom from Richard Branson. That one throws me, I gotta be honest with you. Matt like I don't I don't get the I don't get why the, the weekend is so important, you know, it never done on me once over the weekend. While I was obsessing about this war that it was the weekend, the three. Well, it never occurred to me that was important in my analysis, or my father, a massive important CEO. When you're flying to your private island on the weekend to do your delivery, there you are, very aware that it's the weekend because you're on a flight over your private island I don't get it. Last thing I want to say is there's no statement wisdom alert. As you mentioned, there are dozens of CEOs with Twitter accounts that did not say anything about the Russian Ukrainian War. That's happening right now and that includes Pepsi CEO. And if 4% of your Revenue comes from Russia, but you own a bunch of Ukrainian beverages. Don't feel compelled to say anything about anything because you might piss someone off and all you wanted to do is sell soft drinks. That's it. For well, wisdom and Business Leaders, taking a dump while sitting on the toilet of leadership whilst Matt as Michael Jordan famously. Once said, even Russians drink peps, I believe he did say that. Yes, Drago said that wants to Let's move on. This is one simple crypto, good and bad. This is a crypto good or bad good and bad. I don't know what Damien's reporting on crypto, I'm already confused. Yeah, I'm confused is if you start talking about the metaverse then I'm gonna lose my mind. It's all just a hidden way of me saying that I hate crypto first up millions and Bitcoin pouring into Ukraine from donors. Panelists say at least 14 million so for us five that's good that's good you know it's asking money get money that's cool. Great crypto you win second here's the Here's the the the unfortunate side of it world's biggest crypto exchange binance says it will not block all Russian accounts, despite Ukraine Quest. So the vice prime minister of Ukraine asked major exchanges to block the addresses of Russian users Finance said, no not gonna do that. Jesse Powell CEO of Kraken, another major cryptocurrencies change said the company cannot freeze the accounts of our Russian client. You get the point here, right? You get going here like a crypto is so as it turns out it's pretty good for charitable donations because it's pretty, you know, pretty fast pretty easy but it's even better for money laundering hiding well and avoiding International sink just so charitable Denise crypto. But wait a minute. Yeah, yeah. Because binance actually said the users that it will freeze are users specified by the sanctions. And I think that means one of two things. Number one, it means that all you crypto fans who really think you can get away with money laundering. They can still block you if you're on a bank sanction list. And number two, so it's it's fake that you like our anonymous. Because how do they know who you are? If they can block you. And number two, They should block all of them and they don't, so it's like lose lose if you're in crypto. Basically, your customers are going to be pissed at you and the world's gonna be pissed to you. Matt, what I want to know is it what what Russian oligarch when learning, that they're on a list is gonna just stop like, oh, I can't. What am I gonna do? I can't, I, I'm done that is over. I'm not gonna create another Identity or go to my buddy Gustav or that's not a good Russian name, but, but what I'm done, it's over, I'm gonna funny part is the, the crypto announcements came before the announcement of Switzerland, that it was going to renounce neutrality. And it would enforce sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Who hold an estimated 11 billion dollars in Assets in Swiss banks. Now, now, Russian oligarchs money is just in the hands of Credit Suisse who's never done anything bad about money, laundering or hiding that money so, and please don't fall for Swiss neutrality, that's never been a real thing. I am. What do you got for us today? We have a new. Oh, we have a new feature. Matt it's called Emma's. This is this is poorly named Emma's headline of the day. What kind of what kind of creative? It's not creative. It's that will will play with that. We all just on the toilet. Is that better? Yeah, perfect. All right, here's my headline. Elon musk's suggests SpaceX, can protect the ISS, following a Russian, space Chiefs claims, it would crash into Earth. So yes, this is something. That is this related to the war? Is this like a tangent? Yeah, it is related to the war. I'm sorry, I tried to choose something today. That wasn't more related, but this one caught my eye and then I got in down a rabbit hole in your headline a day, you're alone. All right, so the tweet that this headline is referencing is from Russian space. Chief Dmitry rogozin. He tweeted this last Thursday. If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from an uncontrolled deorbit and fall into the United States or Europe. So I like that this man called Dora, I mean, I don't think we've ever said that before, no control D orbit, I like that he tweeted it. He know this man is true. Very active on Twitter if you want to see. This is not the only tweet he has tweeted so he mentioned that it is nice that the ISS does not orbit over Russia. So if it were to fall, it would not fall on Russia. So this is not a problem for the Russian government. He's tweeted about that he's tweeted all sorts of things which I'll get into later and then Elon responded to this tweet about the D, orbiting of the ISS, the potential D or the ISS. And he responded by tweeting these SpaceX logo, just the SpaceX logo. And then, a Twitter user asked Elon if that meant that SpaceX would get involved if the ISS started to fall out of orbit and Elon responded with just a simple. Yes, yes. He would help the ISS 50 out of orbit, which I guess is nice. And then NASA responded to all of this by saying that NASA continues working with all of our International partners for an ongoing safe operation, the International Space Station and let's get to the meat of this, which is, can the ISS actually fall to the Earth? The answer is, no, yes, not really. It can start to orbit, but it can't like fall to the Earth on a dime. That's on how that happens. So okay NASA provides the electricity for the International Space Station and Ross Cosmos the Russian space Department of the government space Department. Basically also contributes to the ISS by providing the spacecraft that provides the propulsion. That will slowly get it to the altitude that this International Space Station needs to be at. So it gives it like little jump, so it doesn't deorbit. And if Russia stopped providing this propulsion Nas in its Partners would just find an emergency solution before it got into a dangerous point for the space. It won't just no, no definitely not. So if anyone is worried about the ISS falling on their head, it will not. That is not a possibility despite the threats of this guy. But speaking of this guy, Musk and this man wrote goes in have a bit of a history. So in 2014, there were sanctions that were placed on the Russian space industry, post Crimean Invasion and rogo's in tweeted that. He would suggest to the USA to bring their astronauts to the International Space Station using a trampoline and in 2020. After the six full the successful launch of a rocket Elon replied. The trampoline is working. So, these two have had some, I don't understand little arguments back and forth and this man rogus in is also one of seven Russians under us executive sanctions for his involvement in the Crimean crisis and he's banned from traveling to the US and all of his American assets are frozen because he was the Deputy Prime Minister at the time in charge of space in defense. So right now, it would appear that. We have an Olive Garden in a war criminal arguing on Twitter. No one's getting smushed by a space station. Who's to say? That's my story. Hi, Emma. I I get the sense that your hatred of Elon Musk is what Drew to this, right? That's the only thing that drives you. I think that what drew me to this story is the fact that I am somehow on elon's side for something. Because if the International Space Station was danger of falling on me, yeah, Elon can intervene. I'm okay with that. But I would think you'd be grossed out by his, like, coming to the rescue bit. If he's rescuing me from the International, Space Station following on my head. I'm okay with that. Actually, it would turn out. I think Dimitri. Raw goes in is like direct from Central casting of a guy you would think would threaten to take the ISS out of orbit. Yeah, look at that guy's face. He looks exactly like you. Yeah, if you Google him like James Bond, Worthy, Like ISS destruction face. Yeah, he's a scary scary man. On that note. Let's get to hell out of here. I have, I have another story. I'll tease it tomorrow. I have a story tomorrow about Russian, businessman, Roman Abramovich, who controls the Premier League football club soccer club Chelsea. Yep, he got involved with some good corporate governance over the weekend, but let's do that tomorrow. I feel like that that we know nothing about soccer between the three of us. I was a soccer player. I know a lot of soccer. Yeah. How my children played soccer that's enough now. I was like in Italy, World Cup person for you, Matt was on the Italian World Cup team. Yes, but I, yeah, clearly know something. Sorry. He said, I'm not good. So that was a part of the problem. That speaking of not good, this was business pants. We are free floating media. If you like this tune in tomorrow for maybe less war, but probably not. Yeah, we'll talk to you tomorrow. Goodbye.
