Live. From the post snowy backyard which is now discussing swamp and proof that my fall yard clean-up skills suck. It's a manic Monday edition of business pants is a bit manic. Join us. Always by Emma. The dungeon master lurking. Where's Emma? Emma, Emma's gone. She's having deep technical difficulties. And Matt still thinks Activision, Blizzard is a dollar menu option at Wendy's Miss cardi. I'm the guy who was talking right now, in today's mostly War, centered bag called March 7th, 2022. Yale makes an unusable list. Yeah, I expect more out of Yale. Come on Facebook, still sucks. I don't expect, I don't expect more often Facebook. That's true, and updates from Apple and Activision Blizzard. And I guess I'm not gonna be here. So we had a game, but we can play it tomorrow. Play a game tomorrow, we got plenty of stuff to do. Before I get started I want to say to anyone at the CII conference I think CI stands for construction industry Institute or Confederation of Indian industry. Yeah, it's the lottery. Yeah. Say hi to our very own data Queen. Yeah, he's lurking around Murray. I right now is wandering through the crowds at the CII. Yes. Conference getting covid. And no this is not akin to Mark our Rubio tweeting about the location of zelenskyy during a security meeting. It's a little like that though it is no actually. All right let's do this. Come on. Yale put our list over 200 companies that have withdrawn from Russia and some Remain. The list is updated daily by. This is what it says Jeffrey's son and felled and his research team at the Yale, chief executive Leadership Institute. First of all, It says. It says the list is up to daily by Jeffery, son, filth? Yeah, it's no Jeffrey. Do you think he's really updating it daily? No, disrespect look Jeffrey. We've actually interviewed him. Yeah, he's right into the show free float media. But really can you just Jeffrey? Can you write to us? Are you really updating this daily? If not what? It's not like you're not a rock group. I mean, this isn't like Huey Lewis and the News, why can't I don't understand like why can't? I just be the Yale? Chief executive leader said, Paul, the intern was really the guy, updating the list. It's not nearly as impressive. Second of all, why the hell would you share a list as a JPEG? I mean, you're I mean really I expect more out of my academic institutions, like share the Excel file. Let other researchers get in there, look into our own research. This is the whole point on today's business pants complaining about the delivery method. Nobody cares. All right, I went over to list. I try to make it usable and fun. Here we go. Here are the top five that might actually make a difference. Matt, you help me out. These could actually make a difference. American Express to spending operations and Russia. BP divesting from its 20% Ross enough, stake Ernst & Young KPMG, price, leaving, Russia, completely. Okay, lots of. Lots of financial institutions are curtailing, Russian access to Capital. Are we got a black rock, JP Morgan NASDAQ, but this may be the biggest one. Probably because it's gonna piss off the people. You know who suspending operations in Russia, Netflix and WWE gone. Yeah, no rest. No wrestling. No. Shity dating shows. You cannot watch people off. Love is wrestling blind at all. It's not gonna happen. I hear the Wimpy ones here. The top wimps. Amazon is deactivating, some Russian sellers. Some is that Some. Bombardier and Siemens restrict new fit Russian business. Oh, come on. This, this one gets me the most Disney and Paramount and Warner meteor pausing. New content releases. Come on. It's just the new one, like anyone cares about still watch The Emperor's New Groove. Michelin tire halting production at some plants, stop. And finally, the biggest wimp that might actually make a difference because this would actually piss people off if you close your operations. Starbucks is staying open at 130 locations. Oh come on, cut off the coffee vein and people are gonna complain. so, I'm saying, Here are the top five companies that are staying in business that are actually secret NATO missions. Papa John's, 185 locations, shity Pizza is demoralizing. Wow. So I think it's like, they're staying because they're trying to mess with the Russian population McDonalds is staying. uh, because they want to make the people lethargic And they're also want to decrease the lifespan of the Russian army. So that's why they're staying. It's a NATO mission. The same with Yum brands. More than 1,000, KFC, Pizza Hut Taco Bells. They're staying same reason fill up more as staying because they're trying to get the Russian army to wheeze more. Making it harder, you know, making a lever around. Yeah it's clever and Coca-Cola and Pepsi they are staying because it's part of a secret NATO mission to shut off clean water and replace with Pepsi mango. Okay. I thought it was about to die according to the Yale's list, And finally, she want to tell you the top three, ridiculous things. I found this list, Matt. First of all, grammarly spending operations in Russia. So grammarly. Oh, you're shut down. Their grammar pit. Yeah, they're trying to piss off Russians by making their grammar worser. Wait there to shut off. Shut off your grammarly machine. I like this one InterContinental Hotels, Matt they have 5,991 hotels worldwide. They're making a statement by shutting down their one location. Keeping it open. They're keeping it open. Keeping it open even shut down one location. It was complicated. And finally, the whole reason why I made this stupid segment as I had to figure out a way to highlight this, by making it look like I'm doing a lot of other stuff. Here's the best. Here's the best thing out of this list compiled by Yale. We're really at Jeffrey sonnenfeld, the international cat. Federation is Banning Russian cats. From competitions. Wait, that was perfectly, timed to the music break there, but wait the Russian people with cats or the Russian cats, you know, that's I, I was gonna ask her to do art. Do cats have ethnicity? Do they have nationalities? They have passports. I couldn't why get this one, but Bravo, to the international cat Federation for caring about something. Finally, it's always about the cat. That's how you get them. That's where you really get him. Good. All right. What do you got for my segment called? This is what success looks like. This is part one. Here's your headline. Facebook, most viewed page last quarter was removed as a data mining scam. So despite 20 years yes. So the top viewed web page. Well most viewed page was just a data. It was a it was a scam. It was a scam. I mean top view page. Despite nearly 20 years of trying Zuckerberg cannot figure out what is real and what is fake? There's no possibility. I'm about to give you a lesson right here, right now. On business pants. This is for Zack Bryn page, Eck your all year, pull your corporate dictators, your political dictators. What have figured out what you ship bird corporate dictators? Haven't? This is what success looks like. Two headlines. quote, Russia takes censorship to new extreme stifling War coverage and quote The war in Ukraine is keeping Chinese social media. Censors busy. You see that you can't get anything in Russia or China that the political dictators don't want you to see. It's a list of things that like, they decided they're going to control your narrative. Why don't I give Facebook a list of things that I don't want to see and then have them work at it? Fake shit. That's what I don't want to see. This is an opportunity for one dictator to teach another dictator a lesson and I'm hoping business pants can actually sponsor the first closed door dictator masterclass sessions for our corporate dual-class dictator overlords so that we can bring Putin and Jing she together and teach Zuckerberg in the others, how to manage their growing Empires. What do you think? I mean, Fairmont. Why? Yeah, okay. It's a data mint. Mining scam. Right? But not for the people who created it, it's not scam for them. Know what? That's true. So be fair, be nice fair. That is true. Okay. I wanted to update our listeners on the, you hate these stories. The shareholder meeting at Apple. Okay, we reported on it. I thought I'd follow up on. I got a lot to say here, but I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna do it. I'm actually gonna skip to the, I mean, skip to the chase. I'll say a few things. First of all, miraculously one shareholder proposal actually passed. I saw that It's a weird head, okay? They had that would pass, they had six reincorporate with deeper purpose, transparency reports report on, forced labor, pay equity. Civil rights audit report on concealment Clauses. Do you know which one you want to guess, which one passed or do you already know? I already know. But I would like would have guessed paid despair? Yes. I would have guessed right there, seems easy because that one just seems like a layup like just tell us that The reason why I put the story together, is it makes me it just, it makes me realize over and over again. I do not understand shareholders because the one that passed was the Civil Rights audit, don't get it. Okay, which I'm happy about, right? It's great. But why not? But why not pass all? So you don't want to report on forced labor. Not like that. Sounds important labor. No, no, no, that's terrible. Relaxed about that. Think about being okay. All right. Just for another one. The report on concealment causes 49% almost passed. So Apple. You got come on. I mean, that's basically, you gotta let that go away. There's no way they make that I want to point out. Say on page took a bit of a hit this year, 36% sure. Holds. That's a big number of voted against the pay practices at Apple this year. But here's the thing at last year's meeting, there was a shareholder proposal to improve executive compensation to improve the executive compensation program. And one of the suggestions was to reduce pay ratios for the for the executives and that only got 5% of the vote. Yeah. And yet this year 36% say no because Tim Cooks making out money last year. What? But seriously, aren't these educated people, like I just don't understand anything. I'll leave it at that. Believe it or not. I have like 20 more minutes. I could talk about this, but I'm gonna spare, Matt. Thank god. Let's move on to more educated people. Here's the I'm gonna give you a little context for this in 2018, California, updated Chapter 3 of division. One of title, one of their corporations code to include the following by 2019, all companies with principal addresses in California. Must have at least at least one woman on their board. Oh, and if the company has at least six directors in 2021, they have to have at least three women on the board. so too much 2021 3, women six directors or more This is what success looks like, part two. Here's the headline. Activision says it failed to hire another woman for its board due to the Microsoft deal complications. That's right. That's a nice out. So it wasn't because they couldn't find a woman is because Microsoft Activision, just woke up and it's freshman dorm room and realized it. Forgot its term paper do last semester. Because it was too busy giving its female employees roofies. In fact, axios for yours who reported the story pulled this quote from Activision. Quote, since the company is current directors would see to continue to serve on our board of directors. Upon consummation of our proposed transaction with Microsoft, we were unable to conclude the process in 2021. We will be continuing our effort to appoint a new female director. Now. Activision started the process of negotiating with Microsoft in November of 2021. yeah, they were clearly busy with some other stuff between 2019 and 2021 no, 2018 match 2018, when it passed, In fact, since 1995 Activision, is never managed to have more than two women on the sport. Let me rephrase from 1995 to 27, Activision never managed to have more than one woman on its board. Is that right? That is totally correct. I have the full history of their board back to 95. Okay. Wow. A California company filling the board with your sexual harassing process, doesn't leave. A lot of room for Cuties and sigma Activision pie. I mean, I mean, I got intercept for second. I mean, what's the like product life cycle for making one of these stupid shoot up? It's probably like probably takes less time to create this sophisticated game in world and it does to find a woman. Well, they've, they make all their money from three games series, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Candy Crush is 80% of their revenue, 80% of their revenue. So they're just busy spending time on that, but we do have actually breaking news here. Are you ready for like legit breaking news? Always breaking news at free float media business pants. We have the actual recording. Inside the Activision boardroom, when they realize that the sausage party had gone on too long. This is real tape. I'm told by someone who's not, who's fake. Are you ready for this? Okay, yeah, I'm ready. Here we go, here's the tape. Voices, Bobby kotick. Bar meeting time. Hey, dudes. Voice of Roberta Bowers Bobby. We've been over this just because you chair the board of the charity. I run does not mean I'm a, dude. You have to stop introducing the board that way. Oh my God! You're like so shrill right now? Sorry! Rev dog, I meant sup Bros. Hey, first agenda item did any of you guys remember to invite more chicks voice of Bob? Margarita. Wait what? We already have chicks Bobby. Damn, I could see like, two chicks right there. We have. So many chicks. Yeah, but California says we need like Three Chicks Now voice. Brian Kelly home. Oh my God. What a buzzkill? It's gonna be like an episode of the view in here. Hold on, hold on. Oh my God. I'm getting this great idea. What if we made a video game, where a bunch of mostly white dudes, all hung out in like a virtual space and hunted for checks? Bobby. That's fucking genius. We got world of Girl Crafts. Yeah, hold on a second. Donna, can you call down to the Cosby suite and see if anyone could come up? Like right now, we got this new game idea. We want to pitch to them. All. So, what are you wearing right now? Classy, classy stuff from inside the boardroom and to round it out in related news. Bobby kotick also announced he stepping down from the Coca-Cola board. Coca-Cola. Magically don't know how found five whole women to put on their board. And there's no word yet whether Coke is planning to replace Bobby with a woman or whether it will take them three or more years to actually find one. You know, you know how Coca-Cola final those women because they're they're maintaining their operations in Russia. So there's no. Oh, Lots more women there. And by the way, I I did not go to journalism school. I don't have a degree in journalism but I think that that like that that harp noise. I think that's what that's what Reuters. Uses went to indicate that a story is real. That's right. That's true. International not a dream sequence. That's Okay, that's a reality sound. Thanks for that. That was Damian, Ross. I'm at I'm alerts. In somewhere in a place. And we Are People Media this business pants. Subscribe and share rate US. You haven't been rating us. And, by the way, Come back tomorrow for more content.
