Live from Kaiser Hall. At Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut? It's a very special March sadness stained version of business pants. Friday joined as always by Ari the data Queen. I should be full, stop. I mean, that's the only thing that matters anymore. Lurky ml lurking and Matt is Miss cardi. I'm Harrison Jake Kaiser this week. Well they named the halls of Hall. After me at Central University. That's the that's the host College of her mad sadness tournament this year. So yeah, we're broadcast, oh my God, it's kick. Oh, And Today Show. So long. we're gonna go over our march on his brackets, the picture in We're gonna spend a little time with that, we have the four of us. We also have how many other players we have about six years more than that? yeah, there's a lot so So, here's what we're gonna do today, we're gonna we're gonna look at the all the products. Look at the picks. The games are happening as we speak. Just like, in real life. There's a lot of games going on today. I think they're in the, we're in busiest. First round am last night and it In the fake tournament last night. I think there are a few episodes upset. So I think Kentucky went down. So let's hope we have some upsets here. I think Tesla is trailing right now. Oh, really? I had to turn on the scoreboard if I can see group. But again we'll announce those. Why don't we do this? We'll continue to fall the match ups and we'll we'll tell you who won on one. Yeah. Well we're gonna have to do live the winners on Monday but but I I am going to try to follow some of these live as the as they move around, okay? And so today we'll go over all the brackets and then we'll we'll do our regular stories of the week asshole. The week good list of the week problematically? Yes. Stuff the week all that crap. Okay let's do it. Come on got Let's Do It come on hey there Every time. Gets me every time. I will start off the discussion quickly on my hand over to Matt because Matt has compiled some lovely. I have here, I only have, I only have really two things to say first of all. There's some groupthink going on here at free flow media. I don't know if that's good or bad, but but Rhema and Damien have all picked Disney. Yeah. To take the entire three of us, all of us. Yeah, and I will say we all so think that Tesla is going to be in the final four but but when Matt Matt's gonna step in here and tell, tell us about what everyone else picked because this is an aberration because they're really there's no there's no Trend other than the fact that us three idiots. Oh Matt is going with the one? That's kind of sharks me. Yeah like I think if you I'm look I'm watching the games. Now as we speak and apples drop in all sorts of Team, Tim Cooks out there talking about like you know, the don't say gay Bill, they're there's the Ukraine stuff going on there's lots of Washi stuff happening and that's why nobody's buying Apple products right now because they're worried about getting bombed. I think apple is a quiet favorite. Yeah. I will say this Matt apple is winning at no trailing at the half to Salesforce, but Tim Cook was in a little bit of foul trouble so it might change second half I got a feeling about it. Don't go by these halftime scores. I don't. All right here the stats for all. So we have a bunch of listeners Give us a little shout out here. Let's shout out. We got we got Matt to This is not, this is not the real Matt mascara. He's only one matte in my life. That's Matt Scott, someone else. I don't know how that. No, one cares about that too. And then we got a bunch of chuckleheads. O'Shea Alicia. Kyle Gregg. Becca Adam. I texted you being like do you really think that you know Apple's gonna beat Metta in a final? And I and I was like I don't even have meta in the final my finals Apple versus Activision, right? Come back so you're a fool. All right, here's the staff here. This here's this quick stats. The the biggest consensus pick for the first round for the sweet 16 to win. The first round was Nike. Nike was 91% of people who submitted brackets and this is out of everyone. Chose Nike to win that first round Game, Nike is up against Berkshire Hathaway, Berkshire Hathaway, no one no one likes Berkshire, Hathaway. At all, I think it's more of a pick against. I think it's against know, but that's not totally true because there was one person who picked Berkshire Hathaway to go on to the next round, just one and then get demolished demolished against Walmart in in the sweet 16. Do we know who that person is? Yeah, Alicia She's got like, I say the Alicia. I actually like her pick for the whole time. It's Tesla. I like, I don't know. Alicia started investing in February of 2020, probably the worst time to get. She's a meme Stocker. She's a member. The for the final for the championship. Why is that funny? I don't know the champion consensus pick was you three idiots. Choosing Disney 27% of people chose Disney and what about Snapchat was the normal people choice, pick Snapchat. Now, I'm a little afraid, people don't understand the game because Snapchat is not understand the game. I don't even really understand the game. That's what I love about this game is that I'm always conflicted when I'm picking my teams, like, do I do, I go with the most powerful company that I go with the worst company? It's such a Land of Confusion that, Kind of excites me. It's hard to pick. It's hard to pick a company if you don't like that. Thank you. It's hard to pick that. Yeah, yeah, that's part of the problem. It is. It's a backwards pick. You're picking companies that you think are gonna suck. It is much sadness, right? Some March gladness, get out of here. Yes, it's tough game time. And then I would say that maybe the most disparate pick might have been Uber where you have 9% of, people chose it as a winner and but only 36% of people had it even winning the elite eight. So it was very quickly Fades out yet. Someone thought it was a winner overall. I I think what the stats suggests to me, giving the spread there were there were what is this? Oh, seven, seven. Companies that were chosen as potential winners. I mean no one knows what's going on. That's, that's the point of this game. There's no way to judge what's going on that's what makes the whole thing Ludacris. So I got here I thought it was good. Well, there were yeah, everyone's Kentucky. And again, if it wasn't for the, if it wasn't for the three of us, you would have seen an even more ridiculous. Yeah. Spread. Right. Because we again, we're all as a member last week, we were kind of talking up Disney as a potential winner. We all? That's the thing you guys went for recency bias, right? Like you got deep in on the Disney game. Last two, three weeks I've been covering Disney constantly and they're flip-flopping and they're we love gays. We hate gays like that thing. And you fell for it, you know, interests me Matt. It's, I did a little quick point system where I for all the pics, I ordered like one point for the first round 2.5, second round blah, blah, blah blah, right. You know what interests me is that? So the winner would be Disney was 60 total points, but the loser by far is Berkshire Hathaway. Yeah, one point which means, that which I just find interesting in general because I'm guessing that a little pick, the pickers here. Skew younger than 95 years old. Charlie, Munger did not submit his bracket this year. I was a little pissed at him. Yeah, so nobody cares about Berkshire, Hathaway, understandably, and the second show that that nobody cares about is the one that we always call The Adult in the room and that's Microsoft. So, so maybe there is this idea that Microsoft doesn't suck any. Like remember how everyone used to hate Microsoft, but I think it's like firmly and scones again, because everyone around Microsoft sucks, so much that. Now, Microsoft, they just got they just got sued by the EU for Anti-Trust for their Cloud pricing. So, yeah, but it's like, no one cares about that. Like, that doesn't seem that interesting to me, Starbucks. All so near the bottle like Starbucks, like don't young people like Starbucks is awesome near the bottom. No one thought they were gonna win. So nobody like Starbucks. I mean Starbucks was up against Netflix. Nobody picked him to come out. No one. Nobody picked him to come out of the second round, which is like go to me because it's like they're playing Netflix. And Starbucks says, way more brand forward value. The Netflix does unless Netflix goes, and to Emma's point and when we were doing the seating and drops another, Dave, Chappelle, like special that everyone gets up in arms about between now and the end of the tourney Starbucks should win. Yeah. Well, you know what it you'll see with my stories. The week actually Starbucks is kind of the the company du jour because their CEO just stepped down. Yeah, this is going to be interesting month. I was I think I'm the only one who picked Starbucks. The problem was, I had them up against Disney and there's no way Starbucks is going to take Disney out. That's yeah, but they're gonna take out Netflix. Sure. And don't forget Netflix, just announced that they're cracking down on power sharing so that the sentiment there might saw that but not a lot of people picked. Netflix is not a popular choice as well. Yeah, GM. Not a popular choice for not terribly popular. Although Ford made it out of a round or two children. The again the Blue Chips were very popular, everybody gravitated towards Snapchat. Which who gives a shit about Snapchat, seriously? My teenagers, that's the problem. Yeah, we had a bunch of 60 year, olds play this game, but that's what we got for stats this week. So we're gonna watch the games throughout the show. Come on. I can't listen to this periodic updates throughout the show and, you know, like the music's coming, it's coming. We'll hit the games updated. Thank you for playing everybody and again, the winner gets what is the winner? Get Ari. I try to remember. Winner know, the winner will get shagged. Yeah, they'll get a piece of free floating. And if they have a suggestion for the merch, the suggestion merch, we got was a pair of sweatpants that said, business pants down the side. And I want that. If you have suggestions for the merch, we will take them. We will make them and you will get them. That's what the winner gets. I love it. And listen people if you're listening to the show, you still have an opportunity to give us a bracket. The scores are not done yet. We will announce them on Monday. Oh, send us your brackets. Now if you want a chance at this so just get it done. Throw it away. Come on, let's do this. Come on. Can we have other music for this? Oh there's no music. It's just go. Okay, let's do this quickly. I got three stories. The number one story and you you three cut to vote on this. I wish I wish that the people, the brackets could also vote on this, but maybe that'll come and later shows. Uh, first story, big one for me is a Starbucks, CEO retires, Howard Holocaust, blanket Schultz in terms CEO. It's a pretty big and in this business pants World about as big as it gets, and I will remind our loyal listeners that whenever there's a company that we Hammer at consistently, you should figure in that. Something big is gonna happen because that's what that no I'm really. I'm serious like Activision Blizzard as an example like when we're focusing in it's because we're hearing Buzz. And We're translating that buzz for you. So so really, you should focus in on what we're doing here. Because these are the companies where things are going to produce Damian's way of saying, whatever he comes out of his mouth. He's like, he's the Oracle of it's not Omaha. What are you? The Oracle of a shed? I'm the I'm the mistake of Upper Peninsula of Michigan. All right, number two stories that we age of the show, one of my favorite I don't know why, but this is one of my favorite of the year so far. AMC, speaking of meme stocks AMC, Diversifies from movie theaters into gold and silver mining. That was a story. I don't know why I like that because it's pointless pointless a bizarre. It's just weird. It's just weird. I don't know what they're doing. They point out yesterday. Well, they're investing in gold and silver. Mine is, that's not even an operation right now. So I don't know, it sounds like a money laundering scheme. I actually think they're gonna put a movie theater in the mine. I think that's the point. Yeah, I think, I think it's oh, maybe like a nice, like a slide to get down. I imagine, actually, you could be watching like Shrek 7 while picking out a wall that may or may not have gold in it, right? And if you get some gold while you're watching Shrek 7, you're the big winner. Matt. That might be the only way to get me to watch any. Shrek movie would be like if there was a possibility, I just got you to the movie theater for a movie. You didn't want to see. Sorry, Emma. I hate. I hate all that shit. All right. No. I don't understand the love of any of those Disney movies. No, I don't want to hear about Little Mermaid. I want to hear about Toys R Us DreamWorks. Come on the same. Whatever. I don't care. Yeah. Come on. It's a horrible, it's not a Japanese. If it's not My Neighbor Totoro, or God, just give me stop producing movies and like, 2001. That's where you are at. He watching my third story of the week Wells Fargo rejected, nearly half of their black homeowners refinancing application. This is more important than people will let it be. Is that the right now, but sure. So Wells Fargo accepted 47% of black application, from black applicants trying to refinance and and they accepted 72% of white, it's a 25% spread. And as an example from their peers, none of their other peers were even close to that. Spread. I think example, rocket mortgage, accepted 79%, black 86% white. So Wells Fargo is decidedly and deliciously racist as hell. And I don't know why these things don't stick. I don't know why these, you know, we, you know, we're only two years out of the social justice movement black lives matter movement. I don't know why stories like this, don't stick. I don't know why. I don't know why. But to me it's a big story. I know this isn't new new news map but that's why they don't stick. I mean this when why, why people shrug their shoulders, because it's so commonly known and accepted that like Banks discriminated against people of color, But like that it doesn't stick around like that the outcry. It like look if you are a person of color who was discriminated against your this is just another thing in your day-long discrimination of your lifelong discrimination and you're kind of like, of course, this is true. So the outrage isn't quite there until someone gets killed, right? Like, and if you're not a person of color you're just kind of like well this doesn't affect me. What do I care? And that's part of the problem, isn't it? But the amount of outrage over Dave Chappelle who was just an idiot already saying idiotic things and people trying to walk out of Netflix or boycott or whatever and they don't Focus any of this energy. Well, stories capture the scale of the thing, right? Like you don't know, like you, it's hard to kind of like Make tangible, you know, rejected nearly half of their black homeowners refinancing applications, right? That what like, is that a lot? Was it a little? I mean any is bad. Telling you it's bad. I mean, it's bad but I think like to a normal person is like, if it feels intangible, it feels like rejected their application. Yeah, those are my three stories. Who wants to go first. A Starbucks and Arias on the same? Yeah, yeah. I You got me with Wells, Fargo. I don't know how before today I hadn't heard about this. Like this specific one. Let me ask you this, Matt. Can we boycott Ted sarandos over this Wells? Fargo's story. Do you think we can make a link there? Can we, is it Ted Serena's? I think Ted sarandos probably banks at Wells Fargo. Okay, there you go. All right. Anyone else am I you look like you're you're ready to like not be a part of any of this. So This one is super easy. It's Wells. Fargo. I don't have enough information on the AMC story. I don't until there's a CEO potential successor. I'm not interested in Starbucks. It's Wells Fargo. Oh, I'm interested at a CEO stepping down because of a labor. I yeah, that's the story. You I mean, the CEO was fired because he cannot control his, the labor force. They cannot control the uprising. That doesn't interest. You the first. If it's kind, what. No, it's not normal. This is not normal. We haven't had a high profile CEO stepped down because of a union uprising like this. And I can think of, I mean, this same guy, that's amazing at squashing, Union efforts, it's the same thing. That but that I think is this story doesn't take. That's how scary they are. I'm saying that I think is the story. I think that's the story of the week and I think it's the story of the week because what we're seeing is the length, companies will be willing to go to kill unions it. Behooves them to crush their employees at every turn, crush them. If you are bringing in and avowed Union, like anti-union guy who believes himself to be basically coffee Jesus and everyone should love him because he's there like and that is your response to the fact that all of your employees wish to collectively bargain with you. That's not like, we hired a union busting Law Firm or we're doing a little bit of what we're trying to, like coerce the employees not to vote or were quashing Communications or we fire the person like, you know, Tesla's firing a guy wants to unionize Google's quashing Communications and and bringing in an anti-union lawyer. This is their actually bringing in a CEO to lead the company whose core qualification Is not unions. That to me, is definitely the story of the week, I'm with I'm deeply. I'm gonna yes Holocaust blanket. Yes, I'm gonna, I don't, I don't do this very often, and, but I'm gonna, I'm gonna use my, I have like a veto power that I can use. Once every few months, I'm gonna I'm videoing this boat and yeah, yeah, I will say this, I'm a is that it is possible, okay, Howard, she'll take over as in terms CEO, Matt is right, he's he's notably anti-union, he may very well stay along for beyond the interns CEO label. But who knows? They might go in a pro Union Direction which trainer things have happened, right? We don't know yet. I will say this though, okay, to be seen. No has also has an anti-union background, so I will be on stage. Oh Union Starbucks just wake me up when it happens. Yeah. Just a quick update on the scores right now. Um, yeah, Berkshire is pulling away. Um, the so first of all the stock is, is underperforming Nike over the and that's at one of the the scoring points Nike actually, is in the middle of trying to seal records from a massive discrimination lawsuit that they're finding and their Chief talent and diversity officer. It hasn't made a statement yet. So we haven't gotten the green wash yet but we are getting the quash. We're getting the quash, not the wash so it's not looking good for nighty right now. We might have an upset. I give you I give you permission. I'm gonna every time I go update the scores that you can play. I'm just I'm just putting it out there. Because it's the one thing I look forward. That's that that's that that's the breaking update here. Moving on as holiest of the week, come on the week as holiest. I got three assholes of the week for you to choose from this week and no particular order. First up robots. That's right. All robots, I'm choosing robots. I'm just gonna list some robots two of which have been in the news this week robot goat in the news. This week robot tortilla chip maker From Chipotle named chippy in the news this week. Robot French know, not great, robot french fry flipper. Robot plate carrier robot. Thank you letter writer finds robot to find spills. Yeah, the headlines this week where Chipotle is testing a robot that makes tortilla chips and its name is Chippy and motorcycle maker, Kawasaki created, writable electric goat Look. Here's why I'm using this, which is a motorcycle. The robot Revolution was supposed to be awesome. It was supposed to be awesome. Every movie that has robots. They like make you dinner and give you massages. They clean your whole house, they drive a spaceship. What did we get? We got thank you, letters in tortilla chips. Are you kidding me? This is the robot's. Wait, Matt. Aren't there movies where the robots, like, literally Rebels. That's so much more interesting. Okay, that's so much more interesting than Maddie, the robot in Stop & Shop. That tells you where there's a spill on the floor. And it doesn't tell you where it stands Over The Spill and beeps. That's all it does. It doesn't clean it. I can't, they put a Roomba on the unbelievable. They couldn't figure that out. 29,000 robots were sold in the US to us companies in 2021, and none of them appear to be doing anything except replacing pimply face 16 year olds. Where are the robots for me? Give me robot Revolution. I'm tired of robots, stories that aren't interesting. Robots, are my first asshole of the week, who's gonna make your own bot and then you're not gonna be happy Meta, Meta. me fine, because then Doing something that's evil and heinous and cool prediction. Yeah, like this. All right. My second asshole is the week option. Woke company. Kabuki theater. You like this? Oh, I like the way you said the theater there. Yeah, look properly. What you like the theater? No, go ahead. Go ahead. I like this Texas passes a law, abandoning abortion. So in the news this week some companies are paying for their employees to go to neighboring states to get access. Here's a woke idea. Companies leave fucking Texas. What are you doing there? Can we stop with like let's give you like some, you know, exit path, to avoid the terrible, the place that you live. Just don't go there anymore and stead of doing like some work around, just tell Texas. Yeah, this doesn't work for us, you guys kind of suck. We're gonna go work over here. You can find something to do with the people that we hired Florida passes a bill, forget that Florida, these are all low text dates too, Florida passes, a bill Banning the mere discussion of gays until elementary school. Kids start to exhibit depression from the repression that they have from being gay and Disney's response was to a say nothing and then B Paul's their political donations. Let's just pause them and leave Florida. Leave fucking Florida. They have one here, only Florida, they have Gavin California already Gavin. Newsom in the news. Tammy's Point already in the news saying, come back to Florida. Build over here instead of over there there, I'm sure you can get incentive somewhere else to build your stupid useless theme parks. Put it on. You know, what country? You know what country needs? Some help Haiti, do I hate you? Yes, that's what they, they need some there's an option boost, I'm sorry. Do not. You just know how I have a veto. I'm vetoing. Giving Haiti, did he or Haydee, you racist? If he Disney, if you're going to be a woke Corporation and get Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz all up in your shit anyway, stop tiptoeing around the fact that these places suck and leave I diplomacy is dead. The thing where you have a seat at the table to make change its dead. Just leave. That's so woke company. Kabuki theater is my second option. All right, so you're saying don't say a thing, do it? That's what I'm saying. Number three, I hope your third, an actual assshole for number three. I don't are. These are all. I'm very not buying into. These are all assholes. I don't understand you, the third asshole of the week, unretirement. Yes. I love it. You say something quick to it. Are you Tom Brady? I don't Bob Iger. Howard. Schultz one week. We got three unretirement. Even the and this headline from February, which we didn't, we didn't catch in February because who would. But this headline from MarketWatch will unretirement solve the labor shortage. That's right. They were trying to solve the labor shortage but wages. They were trying to solve the labor shortage by finding octogenarians to work there. Like come out of your home and work. There Starbucks is unionizing because the jobs suck dollar stores employees are walking out because it sucks. Amazon had to offer, hey and stuff because their jobs suck and these guys lives are so good. They're willing to unretire to do some more of whatever they were doing before. Is there anything more privileged than some rich white dude unretiring to save a failing company or team, or whatever church. That's my ass holes of the week. I will say this though. I hears where I'm going to comfortable is that Bob Iger didn't unretired. That's true. But he did unretire at Disney like four times prior so I I'm counting you're right. He's the he's the crown. What about this? Matt. How about this instead of saying that they're retiring? One of the just say, they're pausing one month two. Yeah. Or like a CEO can say, like, I'm pausing my CEO dumb for a little while to, you know, and I don't like any of it. I don't like any of it. All right, who wants to are you? You know, voting for you love, unretirement? Why? Why are you like a very decisive person? You don't ever change your mind. He quit. Let's move on. Okay, looking back. There's nothing good. I don't actually believe I don't actually believe I think you know I think if Matt doesn't do the dishes one more time. She might take back the marriage. Though Army, Ari, under this logic, I should be a president. What? Why aren't you still up? I quit you think I'm going back. why, because it what I mean they wouldn't have hired you. They're looking for some of the Cajun is when you do with thing, then, quit the thing then, go back to the thing. Are, he's not doing that. No, Bob Iger is is gonna work at nft company. He's working with all the same people here. Yeah. And it was like your personal Avatar fantasy. Avatar headline? Yes. Emma. Well, you have a vote here. Who's your asshole the week? once again, I think I'm gonna agree with Ari, I That it is on retirement, you guys like always, you don't always agree, you don't get to how, how many retirement parties do you think they've had between the three of them? Seriously, like a true, how I feel about wedding? Well Bob's had like 40. Yeah, it's pension. Like, unless you're my really close friend. I will buy you one wedding present. I will take one flight. I will go to one wedding. You do not get another one. I feel like the same should be said, well, that's right with that. I agree with that. Yeah, I just when I, when I become governor. Yeah. I disagree about the woke company, Kabuki here and I feel like it's an argument that I use a lot that gets thrown down very frequently, which is, I don't think we should be abandoning the people of Texas with no money or power or influence to like die, I'm sorry, abortions or abortion? I'm sorry. You know, the people in Texas voted for the jackasses who make these laws, it's not all the people and if you're a person say that they're education, And like economic status. No one for that. Like, that is still powerful people's fault. Well, that but that's not true though. Emma, because so okay, so let's take Ted Cruz, an example. I don't want to make this a political show, but so he wins the, he wins the first time, he spends time as a senator, but then the people have a chance to then to look at what he's done and accomplished and then make another decision on his reelection, it doesn't do with education, does it? I mean, just look at attention. You cannot, I mean at that point don't you know, the politics of who you're voting for again? I don't understand. You're forgiving people because they didn't pay attention, and but I'm not, I'm not talking about people. Yeah. Well, I gotta careful about engaging her in conversation. All I'm saying is that moving to California and not exercising your power in the communities that you're currently in and you have relied on to build your business. Feels like a cop-out to me. Oh, I disagree. I think we're, we're past that if you are an island of, you know, disagreement and an ocean of people who want like the opposite of what you want, you don't have to stay there. I, I think, and I'm talking mostly to like the people who disagree, They're not the ones who necessarily elected those people, then don't be there anymore. Like if the company's all disagree with the, you know, the elected officials. Then they don't have to be there. They can choose. Guess what? There's a lot of places we talk all about globalization. You can go anywhere in the world now, and yeah, somehow we end up in Texas and Florida. Why are we even there? All right. Okay. Anderson Cooper. All right, that was the Anderson Cooper show. That's all we have for today. All right. Here's my vote. First of all, I can't vote for robots because motorcycles maker Kawasaki, created a rideable, like cool, right? That can't be that's that's one of my favorite things ever. That can't be an asshole. I don't want to, I don't want to agree with Emma and re so I'm having a hard time on retirement. I'm just thinking with them all the time and I and I Tom Brady, you know, I still love. Tom Brady, Howard Schultz is a big a big asshole. This week, this is a tough one. I'm just gonna I I like this conversation about what company Kabuki theater. Because I am also sick of like pausing and hedging and PR greenwashing, I think there's a I appreciate your point of view, Emma. But I think there's a sort of a bigger story here we're missing, which is that that companies are, are you there now like officially using Statements to push some on some advantage in the market. I don't know what they're doing but it's clearly not authentic, it's not genuine. So I think that to Matt's Point like either just put up or shut up, I mean, don't don't be in the middle. I think that the middle is what's called creating apathy in general because you know, it's like, that's my problem is that I don't know what, I don't know, what the fuck Disney thinks. Like that's that's, you know, I don't know what really like, I'd rather they just be like, like screw gay people me too. We're here to make money off of that, right? Then to be like, that's my dreams. Like, I don't know. Like they have like one, they have one foot in the tepid. Alligator infested water. I just don't know what the what's going on? Just like behind my dream is the first company statement that says actually we sort of hate gays. So well they don't say they could just be. Honestly we don't care because he didn't care to begin with he didn't because this is Kind of a moment. A legislative moment, in a state that you make a lot of Revenue in that you should have an immediate opinion on it. I mean, this is, this is not like, like like permanent daylight savings time. This is pretty massive as things go in our culture. So, so clearly ball, Bob shape of does not care because they did not weigh in on this. So, like, just come forward with that. Like, we don't care, we make shity movies. We're trying to distract you from the real problems in the world. And that's what we do good here. So it's just let us do it. I agree with Damien it just feels more honest. Anyway, that, let's get back to business pants. Yeah. Let's get off of this. Welcome theater. Okay, I guess on retirement. The winner, let's move on to build this the week are. All right, we're gonna go. I always like, talking about youth. Utah children are our future and you said children are filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, in Salt Lake City, over fossil fuel, friendly policies that their state has been doing for well, a long time and they're still doing Children that sounds creepy. Yeah. Well don't make it creepy there's a lot of children. Utah right. Anyway, they say there are fueling climate change and poor air quality and creating an violates, their state constitutional rights to life, health and safety. How about that? I love it. It happened on Australia already. Yes. In Portugal. I don't, I don't mean to pod save America again, but hey, you taught children tell your stupid parents are not rubber stamp every single Republic in the comes out of your state. I like for decades that is work, you do when a nine year old tells her parents not to do something, I tell you, that works a lot because you're not gonna get anywhere anyway. I don't. Okay. Go ahead. I just like that. They are, you know, using I like it too. The wall. Yeah, and they're claiming, you know, the constitutional rights to life health and safety. I like the three. Yeah, that's just life and see no one cares about. All right. Number two, talking about Starbucks. again, really I got Oh no, you're supporting Starbucks. Three, they're going to. Pilot programs for customers to bring in their own mugs and use their own mugs. Again, like, for 20 years. Well, but okay, by the end of 2023 customers will be able to use your own cups in the US and Canada locations in store and drive through. and, There should be asterisk there unless the pandemic picks up again in which case they'll get rid of that 2023. What takes so long like what? You know, how long? It's Starbucks in like eight minutes. Drive to a Starbucks. I got a mug right here. How was it take till 2023 for them to fill it? Sorry, maybe I don't want to cry then the pandemic will be over. And I don't mean to crap on your Starbucks story although although I want to crap on it, because Starbucks just started CEO because they want to bring in more of a union-busting CEO and but to Matt's point every single copy place. Lets you do this. So what is taking like every single crochet? I can think of me bring in your mug in a cool place because I don't see that being a thing. I, I've been to your cool coffee place by your house. It's called like Mad Dog Coffee or raw. Like that Rebel dog. You could bring your own travel mug. Come on. They're not idiots. I could bring a travel like, like 10 gallon drum, you know, once. I because they won't take it because it takes him until 2023 to figure out how to use a fire hose to shoot coffee into my mug apparent. I don't want to crap on it. On our goodness. What your next? Google Store. All right. Last one geese, CEO. Larry Culp agrees to pay cut after shareholders vote against Sports compensation practices. He agrees after the vote. Okay, I got it. Got it. Well, just because they vote one way doesn't mean they have to do anything about it, right? It's true. You're right because they're not binding those stupid votes right? As much as they should be. Yeah, go ahead already. I want to hear about this 60% of shareholders voted against Nice, the compensation package. That was supposedly tied to say tied to Performance even though GE has now been performing as well as experience. According to the news. So, I think this is great. Now he only gets Five million dollars instead of 15 million dollars. That's pretty great. Right. So what did he specifically? So what is he specifically reducing his? His stock, the stock package, the specifically, what he's gonna do. His Awards stuff, his Equity award things, reducing the size of his Equity package. And this is already. When was this boat, you know? What? I like it though. I like it. Um that does sound good. Anytime I say on pay actually, they vote know when the company listens like Gus is a victory right? It's good. I mean that's what they're there for. This is good news, this millionaire guy gets 10 fewer Millions. It doesn't make me feel good. All right, before I vote, before we vote, I have a quick update, quick score update here, the, in the Shopify versus Facebook game, which is a one V8, right? There's the music versus Shopify is way too close to call Shopify. Actually announced they made a pledge to be the first buyer of Warren Buffett's wind project in Alberta, so Shopify is pledging to in an effort to take the lead, but at the same time, Facebook countered with a 24-hour suspension of Kanye on Instagram because he's harassing his ex-wife. There are trying to one up Shopify announcement right now. Shopify stock is way outperforming Facebook, though, so that man to being the tie breaker. But today, right now, I I can say it's too close to call. It's an exciting game, one. And this is a, this is, this would be a bracket busting upset from for many of our players because nobody picked Shopify. I mean, it was really the second least popular pick on the whole board. Not only that, but meta ended up in at least. What is this 18% of the finals? So nearly one in five choosers had met in. The final is a big, big matchup. We'll have more coming soon. Thank you, thank you for that, Matt. Who wants to vote is the week em? I want to go first. So good news people. Good news. Yeah. Yes, this was good news. I mean, it feels, it feels hard to go with anything other than the Utah children. It's just our future. Yeah. Okay, let me tell you this, I'm gonna weigh in here. Starbucks. Get over. Gee, I got the nerd the corporate governance in me. I got to look into what he actually agreed to do a little bit more before I'm gonna get behind this guy. I don't know if I'm buying it. You taught children. Here's the exciting part. Matt. Um, ages 9 to 18, officially at that age, they can talk about their their gayness right in Florida at age 9, although they're in a Mormon state. So it gayness is frowned upon 9 to 10. This nine to ten, it's like somewhere between gay, but you can't really be gay. In Utah, know it's a computer just confused by this, but I'm gonna agree. The children are our future, even the gauge children there are future. Yeah, I love it. Yeah, I, it's a sweep. It's, it's, it's the Utah children. I'm not gonna say the gay children. I'm gonna say, you just moving on. Emma. Come on. What are you upset about this week? Come on. Tell us. So, welcome to irritating of the week with me, Emma lurking. Here is your first headline that is irritating this week. Number one, Wells Fargo. Lifted CEO's, pay 20% to 24 million dollars last year. That is irritating. Isn't it and my irritation is explained very well by another headline that Damian has already covered Wells, Fargo rejected half its black applicants in mortgage refinancing boom. So I bet that they think that he met his diversity. Quoted, too. Great. I'm so happy that he's doing such good things and getting a raise for it. Thank you. Charles Scharf. Amazing. Number two. This executive is trying to move all of her meetings to the metaverse. So there is a woman who works for a metaverse in company who want, who is scheduling? Every single one of her meetings in the metaverse, a couple of things to add some color to this, the goggles, the Oculus goggles hurt after wearing them for more than three hours great, she used the word democratizing to explain why meetings in the metaverse are a good thing and that's an automatic thumbs down from me. It's the verbal equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Don't tell me that something is demanding when there's already racism reported in it. Great, thank you. Number three. We're gonna whip through these today. Number three, I like Congee Nemesis Pete Davidson pulls out of blue origin, space trip. Wait. I need every single thing in this headline to just get out of my life. I'm not even irritated so much by the content of this. So much is the fact that all of those things are in one headline things. I don't want to hear about Kanye, Pete Davidson blue origin space. Don't need to hear about any of it. And the situation is that apparently, Pete can't make the new launch date. It was changed from the previous launched. Oh, also, Bloomberg Nemesis, come on. I don't PJ Davidson is a very busy. Like you that you choose to keep doing that instead of going to space. That makes no sense. Grow a conscience in a soul. Something, I don't know. And Number four, finally Jon Stewart's, sympathy for Big Oil, Sparks, major backlash. So this is disappointing. This one might be more disappointing, the irritating but Jon Stewart interviewed the shell CEO and said that we can't expect companies to cut off their own revenue streams and that we have to work together with energy companies. It's just wildly disappointing. And this is coming from the guy who like yells at Congress and called Carl or Tucker Carlson dick to his face. It just very irritating that he's telling people to be nice to oil companies. Jon Stewart, what happened to, you know, That one's wrong. That's gonna wait go ahead. What you I think actually Jon Stewart tends to be generally reasonable. I don't have a problem with it until we all stopped using cars and I don't take classes, you say play nice, it's it's fine. Um I I'm actually having a hard time with the other three. You picked three of the most irritating stories of the year so far really. Oh without a doubt. I mean on the back of a news that they're discriminating against black applicants well as Fargo is increasing their CEO pay, It's gotta be the winner. It's irritating on its face but you like metaverse is basically catnip for me. And any executive who thinks it's a good idea to maybe enter the metaverse for all their meetings. Honestly, needs to go spend some time in the metaverse where it's a racist sexist hellhole. And I do agree not what the content, but once Emma described the actual headline itself, the use of Kanye Nemesis Pete Davidson as the phrase. Like Pete Davidson isn't identified as Kanye Nemesis, the only reason why you do that. You only do that because Kanye is in the news to clickbait it. That's the irritating part. It isn't any of the other parts. It's so funny, a nemesis Pete Davidson, but I do, I think I have to go with Wells Fargo, CEO. I mean, there's not it's really hard. That is those two announcements back to back make that the most irritating. I'll say this, I don't get why I'm meeting the metaverse so bad. I don't get that. And if you're meeting just three hours long, it's too long. So you shouldn't have the goggles on that sympathy. They must be irritated. Imagine we had to have all of our meetings in the metaverse. Can you imagine? I would love it. You've never worked for a big Solace by 500 company. I would have done anything to make those meetings different. Let's just say that. I'll be I'll be diplomatic anything to make them spice. Your I would The, I don't want to vote for the the Pete Davidson's story just because I don't want to give them a vote. But I'm still mad about the original premise that Bezos is just wasting his life by hanging out with celebrity. I just find the whole thing to be distasteful, but I agree with you, Matt. Like I actually kind of like Pete Davidson I don't the way that they're now using Connie Nemesis as an adjective is Ridiculous, I don't really care. Either way Jon Stewart. I mean, I gotta say this. John Stewart came along at a time where we all needed an antidote to George W, bush and he created, and create the show. He took over a show called The Daily Show and he seized upon a political moment and got a lot of attention because of it. He's a talented guy, but he's no liberal hero. I don't know, I don't understand. I don't really understand this the way we describe him he's not an actual like true left activist. I mean, this is this is really surprise you. Is he some kind of Jesus figure, he's no Howard, right? Oh, that's the part that's I think that's part of the irritation factor for me is that he's very much put up on this, you know, Progressive pedestal and then when he does something disappointing, people are shocked and they shouldn't be. And I'm like, well look it's irritating to me. That people are so blown away by this to be fair to John I don't I there's a part of me that agrees with certain elements in the sense that I don't think that like pulling the plug on a company as a solution like there are a lot of stakeholders at these big oral companies. It's not just the executives and the ownership and in. I don't frankly believe in just pure divestment in the sense that why can't we the better solution would be to push these companies into investing in a future of renewable energy. As a I mean I certainly want them to stop using oil but to just automatically kill the company. I think it just a little bit more nuanced. I hate to interact here to interview. So I I'm guessing that I'm Guessing the interview was new ones and this headline is misleading by, I don't know, I didn't, I hate to interrupt but I have a little bit more breaking news before. Oh, it looks like It's awesome. It looks like Snapchat. Thought it could pull away. Early by its its CEO. Evan Spiegel had announced that their platform have a responsibility to self-regulate their content. They basically was saying that it's our, we need to be regulating the content on here and take responsibility for it, which is unique and social media. They thought they could pull it away early and then just a few days ago, Microsoft updated its sustainability. Its carbon commitment, it said it was increasing its internal carbon price by 600% and order to meet, its carbon targets and the stock is underperforming, Microsoft is pulling away with it. Now it's a little too early to say, but it looks like that that are the the Normie choice of Snapchat is about to go down the drain. The number three Microsoft is looking poised. Yeah, take snap chat out. I'll remind you that. Yeah, Microsoft is a three-seat people. So yeah. It was not seated in properly. Thank you, Matt, Matthew mascardi. I will quickly end my boring thoughts and just say, I of course, agree with Matt Wells, Fargo by far. Charles Scharf should be out of a job and and maybe maybe this is another instance of where we talk about things where we focus. Our hatred. Maybe. Maybe he will be out of a job soon. Yeah. All right, let's do it. You know. I don't know, are you? Yeah, that's horrible. Yeah, that's hurry. That's horrible. Let's, let's attempt to wrap up this show. Can we get in under an hour quickly who won the week? Anybody Howard Schultz, Howard Schultz, won the week, really? Yes. Okay. Yeah. Who who's next? Emma Emma's. Next me. Emma. Who won the week? I think that Pete. Davidson won the week. What does that even mean? He it's true. He won you somehow managed to get your clients name in a headline that consists of Kanye blue origin space flight. I feel like the publicist is like having a great week. I guess but I don't think the publicist did anything. I mean I know too much about this happened to be dating. The most popular celebrity in the world, he's on, he's on the most popular, like, you know, pop cultural comedy show in the SNL hasn't been the most popular for a million years, okay? But you know what I'm saying? Like this guy's already invited him to go up in the rocket. Ship, the publicist, I mean anymore, why don't I engage with Emma delay working anymore? I gotta stop talking to Emma. It's making me crazy. You're wrong. My, my who won the week because is a big blanket for an Aries name. So I don't know if mine is. There's a character named Kyle. Yeah, yeah. And I was looking at the, at the bracket I'm saying that Kyle won the week because he's the only one. To pick the two pandemic darling companies that nobody cares about anymore and his final four and a zoom and Robin Hood. And I was thinking like, I liked that, like, these were the two. These were the two favorites to everybody loved during the pandemic. So, that's a guy. Like, I just like, where he's going with that everybody hates them now. Nobody cares. I think he might be honest. I'm just like, Kyle one week wherever Kyle is whoever, Kyle is already have a winner the week. Okay. I like it. No one prediction. Dictionary. I can go. Oh Emma! Emma's back and Pete Davidson land. All right, tell us your stupid prediction. Come on. Go ahead. my prediction is, Kanye will take Pete Davidson's seat on the blue origin flight. Oh, That probably will happen. That's can you probably will happen? Needs like, if she or he hasn't started on this, they're too late. I'm thinking like a publicist. I got this all unlock. I have plans for both feet and Kanye. I don't, I hate that. I hate to keep keep this conversation in this Lane map. But why did who who suspended Kanye's, social media Instagram, Instagram Zuckerberg because he was harassing Kim Kardashian for like that. This yeah. Isn't the whole platform isn't social harassment? Well, he also only got his account suspended for 24 hours. Yeah, that's when it matters. Yeah. Well, I boring prediction, which I talked about yesterday, I think is I'm staying in the melody, Hobson will be the the CEO of Starbucks Camp. I'm gonna stay right there. Because as we pointed out months ago, mellody Hobson has a lot of good anti-union in her background. And so I'm I'm full in on. This Starbucks is the only company with a black woman as a chair and a black woman as a CEO. I'm staying right there, staying there. I think unlike Matt I think Schultz is actually gonna I think I'll stick around for a little while as in terms of I think he will bounce. That's my prediction. I mine is similar but a little bit further off I am predicting that Wells Fargo adds Shaquille O'Neal to their board to deal with being racially. I could, you know what? Oddly, man, I I know you're kind of kidding but I don't, I, I could see it. I could actually see it happening. I know although Matt, Papa John's, as we pointed out, like the only company, only American companies seems these other than the Koch Industries. Not Coca-Cola but Koch Industries k o c h the only company staying in operation. In Russia is Papa John's where Shaq sits on the board. What do you think about that? Yeah, I don't think about that. Um, because I don't care. I do know that Wells Fargo just added this year, Felicia Norwood to the board, who is a black woman. So there on the path towards recognizing their racism by adding token, black people to the board. So he kills not gonna give you It looked it this is a great prediction and and if Shaq if that happens you're gonna get like your predictor of the century. But even if it, the next director is a black person. I'm still gonna give you a point at this prediction. I like that. I know I realize I do like that one Ari again no he's got one Twitter and down votes. I think it's gonna be great. Oh, Twitter's adding down vote already read it, they're ripping off Reddit. Okay, so your prediction is that it's gonna be great. Yeah, I think it's gonna help with harassment. Help like more harassing like Aid harassers and why wouldn't it just make harassment more fun? What? Because now your troll. Oh, I guess trolls you can get voted up. If I will say this. All right. I think about it. I'm saying though, the only I ever It's just down. You can only go down. Oh, you can't do uploads know. See you're messing with me with comparison. It's not know, I didn't know. I'm not messing with you. I literally do not care about Twitter. Well, you should not messing with you because I think I'm living in the, in the delay Vortex here. Conversationally, I'm just gonna say that's the, that's all I got for the show. Well one last update if we want it here it looks like a more time. Looks like Activision is pulling away from McDonald's particularly as we're seeing news that Activision Blizzard shareholders, suing over the Microsoft sale and Microsoft wants gender, discrimination lawsuit. Dismissed the expectation of immediate greenwash statements is really high well where McDonald's has successfully not pulled out of Russia and has said nothing about it so it looks like Activision may pull away with this one. They're well, underperforming, it's not looking good for McDonald's right now and that's my that's my last update. Thank you for that Matt will. Again we will. Go over those scores on Monday. We'll go over at on Monday, that's Damien Raul's and are the data Queen, and Emma Larkin, and some set of boxes. Everywhere we are free float media. If you like this, this was business pants the podcast, go share it and do rate it. And some stuff. Otherwise we'll be back on Monday with the scores from this. The first round of the March sadness. Tournament plus some news of the day, we'll talk to you, then goodbye.
