Live from Emma's basement. It's a PTI business pants, Thursday. That's an acronym. That only two people are gonna understand. That's that's Matt. And me who doesn't know PTI? Come on. Join, as always, by enterprising, Emma lurking and misanthropic. Matt mascardi. I'm Gus. Why? And in today's bag full of pistachio shells called March, 31st 2022. We react to the headlines and I asked questions. Wow. This is this is the most well scripted show we've ever done. All right, we're playing a game. This is our. Pardon, the interruption put two minutes on the clock. I'm gonna throw out the headline. I'm gonna ask some questions, Emma, and Matt gonna battle it out, be only got two minutes and then we're gonna move on. Come on, let's do it. Come on. First headline, we work named CEO Sandy as chair. Also, FedEx named Roger Romanian a CEO or placing finder Fred Smith questions. is there a South Asian CEO Revolution happening that nobody else is talking about but us And number two, is we work repeating past, mistakes by consolidating power at the top. Oh my god. Oh, okay. All right. Hit it. The answer to question. Number one is yes, there was one, 100%, a South Asian, CEO Revolution happening in the United States of America. If there's any better way, to rid yourself of weird, white founder fetishes is to replace those CEOs, with the Quiet, South Asian, who nobody can pronounce their name, and or remember which one is, which this gets you take into somewhere? It's simultaneously like a weird racism and fantastic there but it sold the diversity issue. Sure. It does by leaning deeply into all of our stereotypes, about South Asian people and question. Number two, is we work repeating past mistakes. But consolidating power at the top. Does anybody care about? We work at all Emma? It's worth 8 billion dollars. I feel like someone should care about we work oh where I don't know and what am I might eventually want to get out of her basement and go you know work somewhere else. I actually have stated a we live before. And that was quite, I didn't know what it was at the time, but I did do it, I have to say it was quite nice and weirdly cheap, but given what was going on at the time? Makes a certain amount of sense that it was weirdly cheap. I do, Matt lost me there for a second but then he got there eventually with the racist stereotyping thing I think that is correct. People are leaning on racist stereotypes to have their companies go more under the radar than the bombastic Cult of Personality white CEOs. I feel like I'm racing, I love it the way. It should be, you don't have to, we can move on, this is 100% correct. We never too. Number two headline, a billionaire Leon cooperman. He's back everyone I couldn't pass whiny billionaire, Leon Cooper and says Biden's billionaire. Attacks is stupid. Probably illegal and won't pass. Here's the background on Monday President Joe Biden introduced a new tax on billionaires income, as part of the 2023 budget, the tax hits billionaires unrealized gains, which is the value of buy Investments like stocks. Biden's budget. Also takes a big swing at corporate BuyBacks. Calling for a three-year freeze on Executive selling shares, after a buyback questions. Is Biden's billionaire attacks, both stupid and illegal. And do you think a three-year freeze on Executive selling shares? After a buyback would actually work? Would it diminished bypass Ready. Go. Why are we demonizing the creators in this world by making them? Not not allowing them to do BuyBacks and not pay taxes. These are the people we should Revere. We should be building statues to them. Leon cooperman isn't correct. That it's illegal, but he is correct that it's stupid. Oh, we should hug our billionaire Founders. And thank them for every one of their pet issues that saves Our Lives. Look, no, we could save world hunger like 30 times over with the billionaires in this country. But you know why they don't choose to do it, because they're smarter than us. This is not, this is not legal, but it is stupid. You should not freeze executive selling shares after BuyBacks. You should not tax the billionaires because they are our pretty sure they have security team at though to deal with you hugging them. You're not going to be able to hug them. Yeah, well speaking. Try to hug CEOs, did we see that the woman who was stopped coming later? Can't come into? Okay, sorry, but you're way off topic. Yeah, you're way off topic. Okay, but Matt is absolutely wrong and I know he's trying to troll Me by Trump. Wanting to hug billionaires but he's pissing me off anyway. So no, it is not stupid. It is just correct. When you unethically gain billions of dollars that you will never be able to spend yourself in a lifetime. Yeah, tax that shit and is it illegal, obviously not just tax, the bitches? I don't know. And then do I know anything about BuyBacks know? Do I know anything about freezing shares before BuyBacks? Absolutely, not to answer this. Yeah, as Michaela's have to figure out a way we keep. We keep asking you Executives to like, you know, cap their say on pay and cap there, you know, CEO pay ratio, know you, Kiddos and times your median. Was buy back their shares then after the shares, go up in value because of the BuyBacks, they sell all their options and they make a shit ton of money. This is just write Emma. It's just correct. I don't like who you are right now. It's very upsetting. We don't have to because it's times up. Thank you, Dyson headphones. Come with air vacuum for mouth. This is straight out of our dystopia category. The headphones dubbed Dyson zone are designed to tackle the growing issue of air pollution. So yes, these are headphones. I don't know if you've seen the picture of the BBC News headphones, over your ears and there's a basically looks like headphones over your mouth. Literally, it's a vacuum over your mouth questions. Are you buying? I don't know what that means. Are you buying? Are you gonna buy and use a dice and Zone number one, number two, will you be punched for wearing the dice and zone go? I'm gonna start this one off because I can definitively say that I will be using Dice and I 100% will be. I am trying to preserve some fresh air for myself and if this is how I have to do it, that's fine. I don't care. Well, I be punched yes. But will I be breathing easy all? So yeah. So I'm feeling good about that trade-off. Look, the fact that they're selling something that forget the headphone piece of this. I actually don't understand the headphone pieces of this. You could have just sold me a vacuum for my mouth. It's like you're making they have that called you Like, but this is a portable vacuum for your mouth. I mean, like I can't think of anything weirder and better. I hate Humanity. If you can cover meat entirely from humanity and still call it like a premium product. I'm gonna do it every single time. Will you punch me? I don't care. I'm wearing a vacuum on my mouth. It's totally fine. He hates I'm with Emma. Get hates humanity and yet he vacation to Disney. Moving on number four, good one. Not do that. This is a good one. Black he lied. Oh you can use buzzer for lying. Black Rock president, Black Rock president warned entitled generation to put their seatbelt on over speeding inflation. Here's the background. Here's a quote for the first time. This generation is going to go into a store and not be able to get what they want. Block rock president, Rob kapito said at the Texas Independent, Producers and royalty Owners Association conference and annual oil and gas industry convention. He said, we have a very entitled generation that has never had to sacrifice questions. Is capito, Right? Are all Americans is spoiled and enriched as keto and Fink is he, right? And number two, what percentage of the audience at the Texas Independent, Producers and royalty Owners Association conference wet themselves. With Glee upon hearing the BlackRock president slam entitled Americans. Emma, you Start. Um, yeah I have never had to walk into a store and like not have the stuff that I want to be there and who's fault is that? That doesn't feel like my fault. I'm 24, I've done absolutely nothing. I I have done. I wrote a tweet about this yesterday because it pissed me off so much. Well, he did. Um, yeah, I'm tweeting on the free float media account. Go look at our Twitter, it's the best. Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead and sew capito. Is correct. All Americans are as spoiled and really Oh yeah, absolutely. No, no Damian. You don't seem to understand all Americans have 300 million dollars in the bank to access at any given time. So even if there aren't stuff in stores, they need they can just use their excessive amount of money to procure it in other way. I'm just really there, aren't poor Americans. I it's so I feel so much better living in a country that has no one. Has to sacrifice. It's great. Let me just holistic wealth. You need to focus, not on what he said but on the entitled generation that he proposes exists. Sure, there's an entitled generation. They're called the Boomers, they're the ones who basically took all the shit off of our planet. Lit it on fire, snorting, cocaine. And then said, here you go, guys, this is what she got talking about. What worked in first. First boss in 1979 in the public finance department where he was basically making mortgage back Securities. You know what blew up the you the entire world economy in 2008 mortgage-backed security then goes. It works with think a Blackstone Group before they go and start Black Rock together. That's right. The man telling us, we're the entitled generation who's gonna have to quote sacrifice because of speeding inflation. He's a trustee at Wharton. How much, how much sacrifice do you think this guy's got under his belt as he's making mortgage back Securities from the day he stepped out of college? I'm not sure I'm not exactly sure. I want to take my lectures from some ass hat who basically helped destroy the entire planet. Thanks. Speaking of entitled, I wonder how keto feels about taxes. Very well done. Both you that one. Moving on, Carl Icahn still in the news, the first headline. Yeah, McDonald's bacon. Burger's will cost more. If Carl Icahn Force Supply, changes and two. Carl Icahn is, adding workers rights to his investor activism. Here's what he said in a letter. He said Kroger's top management and directors are failing to provide decent pay to workers in a company that can afford to give it CEO 22 million dollars per year. He wrote this in a letter to Kroger CEO running McMahon. He went on to say it is obscene that a CEO makes 900 times what workers earn questions? Do you like it when a man worth 23 billion dollars points out? Obscene, CEO pay ratios and two will the ultimate demise of the ESG industry. Be stakeholder rage over increased bacon burger prices Oh, first of all, let me just say that it is a crime. That Carl icahn's daughter decided my bacon should cost more. This isn't Carl, I can't deciding this. This is daughter, that's just criminal second daughter, doesn't eat bacon. She's a vegetarian. Second No one should eat at McDonald's anyway, so I don't really care that much about that. I care about bacon, not McDonald's. But when it comes to 900 times workers being obscene, Has this guy ever seen a data set in his life? You know, 900 times is like the median. S&P CEO is like 300 times 350 times. Okay. 900 actually, isn't that big of an outlier there. Are people who make 1200 1500. I saw a 4,000 times your median employee. I don't know what he's, what he thinks is egregious, but his daughter said, oh, pigs matter and stuff, even though I don't eat them and talking about. Now we're talking about bacon and CEO pay ratios, what is this? um, I do. I'm gonna answer the first question directly. I think I do like it when a man worth 23 billion dollars points out of seen CEO pay ratio. I'm not what I expected to say that. Yeah, if you're gonna look, there's so not so many billionaires I suppose. But there are many billionaires who are just looking to increase their own wealth and usually that comes along with increasing the wealth of others because you usually need co-conspirators in order to be a billionaire in order to create like 100 millionaires, alongside you are like maybe another billionaire too in there but I I think it's Something that he's calling out other people's wealth, despite the fact that he is richer probably richer than the Kroger CEO, I don't know if he's trying to diminish The Well of already rich people even though he's a billionaire, it's better than what other people do. You just handle your money Carl to the worker's to the workers. That would be Stellar as well. Yes. Agreed. Moving on the next headline. Mark Zuckerberg shares an ex Yahoo executive advice to him as he grew Facebook. Here's the quote from Zuck, he told me this thing that will always stick with me, which is that every organization sucks. But you get to choose the ways in which your organization sucks, which is maybe the most negative possible way of putting it. But I think it's basically if you want to move fast on certain Dimensions you can but you only get a few things like that all. So this headline Mark Zuckerberg says he tries to Surf every day to help. Take his mind off, getting punched by the news questions. Is this why sucks? Because he was told it was okay to suck and two. What do you do every day to take your mind off of getting punched? I'm gonna answer the second one first. I wear a Dyson vacuum face. Why does ducks as the first question? Is this why Zuck sucks? No, this is not wise. Duck sucks. One little apocryphal tale about a Yahoo executive, which honestly, Yahoo a failing company. Telling I was talking about something that's great with them. Come on, that's not even remotely believable. The reason why Ducks sucks is because he is the incubated goose who's been under the wing of Peter. Thiel for the last 20 years. Remember that Mark Zuckerberg was 20 years old when a billionaire venture capitalist came to him and said you know what? Don't listen to anyone else. You're a genius, you're amazing. Don't listen to anybody. And then he spent the next 20 years, telling him about the libertarian dream of free unfettered. All stuff so much so that we have manipulated elections as his reason. That some things will suck you get to choose what sucks. Hey Mark, did you chose elections and more? Yeah and basically everything wrong with Humanity. That's what you chose good work. What do I do every day to get my mind off of being? Yes. I I do a couple of things like meditation some light sleeping pills at 12 p.m. yeah just some lights, leave it. Every all of this punch distraction is light, you know, gotta keep it light and then is this why Zuck sucks? No, this is not why sucks Zuck sucks because her I blame Harvard, Harvard fostered an environment that that made him fall to confident. Yeah, and the small amount of time he was, there is concerning given how much, I believe it impacted his misguided itself comments. He didn't, he didn't drop out moving on, no, but staying with staying with meta the next headline, meta, paid a consulting firm to sling, mud, at tiktok, with headlines, like from dances to Danger. Here's the background. The Washington Post is reporting that meta hired a republican consulting firm called targeted victory. Yeah, to orchestrate, a nationwide campaign against tiktok targeted, Victory helps sway. Public opinion. Against tiktok, I remember all this by planting local news stories and helping Place op-eds targeting tiktok targeted. Victory was also submitting letters and opinion, piece of speaking. Glowingly of Facebook's role in, for example, supporting black owned businesses. Medic actually confirms this saying it. Yes, has higher targeted victory. Spokesman Andy Stone said, quote. We this is a crazy quote, we believe all platforms including tiktok should face a level of scrutiny consistent with their growing success. Yeah, a Facebook post said, that question's are you shocked that meta actually admitted to hiring targeted victory in two is this one of the areas where Zuck thinks it's okay to suck. Oh, why don't you start? Um, okay. I am not shocked that meta admitted to hiring targeted Victory, because honestly, I feel like on the list of bad things that meta has done. This one is pretty low, just trying to like, Edge out a competitor. I don't know. They've done a lot worse stuff to like, Teenage, women's body image, and general democracy. So I'm not super shocked by this. People are probably gonna find out. Anyway, they're just popping to it early and then is this one of the areas where Zuck think it's thinks it's okay to suck? I don't think he thinks this sucks. I think he thinks that this is brilliant and this isn't sucky at all. He thinks this is just being a smart business person. I don't know. That is 100% true. This he does not think this sucks at all. This is just a marketing campaign and it's a marketing campaign by a republican consulting firm where I had to scroll for about 70 minutes to find the first person to call her. There are about 3,000 people listed on their team on the website. Find out how many people of color are out there. Touting the fact that Facebook has helped black owned businesses because, yeah, I'm 100%. Sure targeted Victory is not one of the black owned businesses that Facebook is helping. They're spending a lot more money, helping that business. Otherwise I just want to say this for the record when there's a timer on, it makes me want to shout. I remember I'm on record here a predicting that the next CEO of meta, Facebook will be South Asian So they won't be coming from. They won't be coming from targeted Victory. That's all I'm saying. Finally, let's wrap up today's show and I want to remind our listeners, all these headlines are real. This is all real stuff. We might sound crazy. We might sound like, buffoons and clowns, but this is all real. These are all the real things going on the world. Finally, this headline a woman is for you. Emma, a woman who falsely claimed to be married to Tim Cook. I already like this anyway. A woman being married to Tim Cook. Who followed him to be married to Tim Cook and allegedly stalked. Him has agreed to stay away from the Apple CEO for three years. Questions, are you Tim Cook stalker? I'm alerting two. Which CEO would you stock and bonus question? Why only three years? Why not five years? Well, why not until 2550. What's going on here? The answer. The question number one is, yes. Emma is the stalker. Okay. Well this is not doing anything wrong by sitting here with us because we're not, we're not Tim Cook. She's far enough away right now. I the answer to the question. Why not until 2050? That is an excellent question. Everything should happen in 2015. I have actually set all my personal goals for 2050. I'm telling you this right now, I have proposed that I lose five pounds by 2050, okay, I'm going to start eating more vegetarian by 2050. I'm actually, I plan on like, a raising my kids starting in 2015, that's when I'm gonna start doing it. So, I'm 100% behind the idea that it should have happened in 2015. Which CEO would I stalk? I already stalk one. It's the CEO of free float media. That's it. um, okay, as to, which CEO I would stock. Yeah, I think that I'm going, I think that I'm going Whitney Wolfe heard. I was because I was gonna guess that. Oh yes, wow. Well, the reason being is that I know what male billionaires do with their money. Yeah, very interested to see what female billionaire CEOs, do with their money, and then, as the other two questions, all I'm saying is that I'm gonna be hibernating for the next two years and 364 days. So I'll see you guys later. Yeah, am I gonna ask you before we wrap up? Is this one instance where you actually feel sorry for Tim Cook that he only has three years left, like, he has to, isn't he? I feel sad for him. I mean, serious, three years of it up before stockers that loose again. Yeah, no one should be stocked stocking is not great. Sorry. Tim that you're being stalked. I mean, how easy is it to it? Just agree to stay away from A person for like, like, in three years, all stop by again. Is that what that means? And did they just asked her like, please? He's not your husband. Can you just stay away from him? Ah, all right. Sure. Yeah, I'll do that. It's just seems. It seems like a crazy settlement is what it seems like I think Talking to the end of the time. Where that's all I got for today. That's a business pants. That was the ESG Shawty show.
