Live. Yeah, it's there. I can hear the music from the Tulsa performing arts center in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's a very normal business pants, Friday. Well, no, we have a really stands Friday. Is it, can anybody hear me? Say something we hear you, but you sound like you're in a box of a Asics running shoes. Join us. Always by a scruffy guy wearing a catering t-shirt, a woman with a disheveled bun and another woman holding a big fuzzy microphone. I'm a scruffy guy who's about to get less grumpy because my daughter. The number two ranked player on her High School tennis. Team is begging me to shave my beard. Number wait, number two on her high school team. That's like, yeah, it's really, I know what Matt's thinking, why can't she be number one? I'm thinking there are there only three people on the team. I love how you crapping on me by crapping on my daughter, but I appreciate it actually. All right. No, it's new low for you. Matt know. I think it's right where I like, Matt, it's April 22nd 2022. Let's get to our our of the weeks. We got story of the week. We got as holiest of the week. What else? We got? Good list of the week. Yeah, it's really good this week. I did great to see and And right on that right on that, cue irritating us of the week. Also did very good this week. No. I, Agree with I'm on that way. I think Emma does usually steal this show you. How has the best She's like she works at the best. Oh, Matt. Matt anger is great. And and I gotta say, are you the way you define? Good is always beguiling, kind of? Yeah, we'll get today. Throwing. Yeah, I phoned it in this week. Let's do it. Okay. I get a bunch of them so I'm gonna go try both of them. Quickly, what I did is I I kind of these, this is the alternate Headline Edition. So I took the biggest stories but I took a, I picked a headline that was kind of the alternative version of the main story. So here's the first example, so there's a lot going on in the Disney culture War, you know, Florida hates Disney, mats asleep. But here's the alternative headline, to the dirt, the Disney culture, War, Florida, taxpayers could face up to a two billion dollar Disney debt bomb. If it's special district status is revoked bomb. Wait, does anyone want more information there? Yeah. What do you mean? So, There's a bill that just passed the state, the state senate and the house in Florida, and its trying to get rid of their. Yes, so exactly Disney has something called the Reedy Creek improvement district, which is created in 1967 and gives the Walt Disney Company full regulatory, control over Disney World as well as a bunch of government services. They're trying to strip that and they're going to leave these municipalities with a two billion dollars up to two billion dollars in debt. How that's a part of our understanding because because you know, there are certain taxes, they're paying I you know, I don't know. This is what I read those new that The headline. I thought it meant that they were now going to pay taxes. It's not, I have been paying taxes, but I guess there's also some kind of bond that they're responsible for, that will be that rolls over to the government because they no longer have control over. So, when they wanted to build certain elements of the park, Disney actually could issue their own bond from the Reedy Creek improvement district. The bonds that were issued from the Reedy Creek improvement district. Then will flip over to being government owned because the government will strip the tax status at Disney World, own those bonds. There you go. That's the alternative headline to the Disney culture world. Number two, the neck, the Netflix stock price plunge, big subscriber loss. That's a big story this week. I don't have you guys covered it happened. During March Madness. Come on, That's good point. Here's the alternative headline to the Netflix stock price plunge. Elon Musk says Netflix is losing subscribers because the woke mind virus is making it unwatchable. Trackable, is that true? Emma? True. Actually I didn't if you wash your hands. Do you get rid of the woke? Mind virus. I don't know. I mean, I watch a lot of things on there like about like cakes and is that woke is okay, is an amazing show. Yeah, I don't better really know like what I don't get. So what. So, what's the woke, mind virus going on isn't just a bunch of TV shows how the, the show, the ultimatum, where a couple's who are like one person wants to be engaged and the other one doesn't, and they set up an ultimatum and they make it a reality show. How that's infected with the woke, mind virus, I think, Matt's revealing, his wife's, one of his wife's new binging. Yeah, we watched one episode. I'm excited to hear it. I love you 30 seconds on a voice memo and send it in. Yeah. Could we get back to our summer of our voicemail callers when you get caught a calling? All right? Up, next alternate, Headline Edition, story of the week, the Twitter Battle of control, you know, there's a control of ownership over at Twitter, you know, all about it. Here is the alternative headline. Jack Dorsey says his biggest regret is Twitter, shutting down Vine. Mmm. Vine. What a throwback Emma. Did you do that? Every two young I wasn't. I was too young to, like, participate in the creation of like Vine videos. But boy, was I a consumer. I was a big vine video, consumer fun, fact, Damien's. Favorite social media video of all time was the guy shoving oranges in his mouth on Vine, lemons, lemons, lemons, lemons, right? Maybe the only my only favorite social media. It was a sample size of Will Sasso. Okay, moving on. Here's the alternate, headline to egomaniacal Billionaire's name, Elon Musk. Elon Musk is all over the news. Here's the headline. Elon Musk said Life on Mars won't be luxurious. He said the sales pitch for going to Mars is it's dangerous. It's cramped, you might not make it back. It's difficult. It's hard work. It's stupid. You step outside. And you burn a lot? Yeah, no. Actually you you, well, you burn by freezing to death because it's actually I think it's minus 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Whoa, have you heard of freezer? Burn. that's, It's actually being remain Ari. I gotta tell you when, when I get the the freezer burn it actually feels hotter than the normal burn, so you might be right. Yep. All right. Moving on the next one. The war in Ukraine. That starts with you. This is for me. This one's for you. The war in Ukraine. Here's the alternate, headline, Richard Branson. Okay says individuals, government should cap their energy, use to help end the war in Ukraine. And he has a great example here among Branson suggestions, for reducing individual, energy consumption, were cutting household, central heating, and air conditioning usage by 1%. And reducing driving speeds by 10%. Do you fall? The war is your fault. He's not, he's not actually not kidding, he thinks that by cutting our overall energy usage down that it will, it will help our against our Reliance on Russian oil. Can just say though that this is evidence that Damian does not listen to or his own show because over this already this week, we cover this. Yeah I'm just going over stories of the week. Did you cover other things like cover all the things? Yeah. And finally the airlines The Mask mandate mandate, you know, they got rid of the mass minutes this week and the airlines stupidly in the middle of flights announced that they could take off their masks. I really honestly can't understand the airline their, their absolute morons. But here's the alternate headline, Airlines want to bring back passengers band over masks and here a wonderful quote from United States. CEO, Scott Kirby, this is absolutely true. He said we have talked to them individually which I don't believe many of them are sure us. I just love this. Many of them are sure us that now that the mask mandate is off, everything is going to be fine. And I trust that the vast majority of them will. Oh, there are short and he trusts them, that's yeah, it's gonna be fine. They're not gonna be yeah, why would people be unruly again? Only once literally, like, it's like a series of conservative Karen's who like, were belligerently rebelling against Social Health crisis. Yes. And that is who were worried about bringing back like the seven of them that we had to ban and and then and then it's I'm sure the vast majority of them of which they're like 10. There's like 10 people that they actually banned. Gets like 3,000 know they called 3000 people, Scott Kirby call 310 individually Scott Kirby. Okay, I got. I'm sorry. That's a lot of stories there. So If anyone wants to win and their story of the week. That says, Emma does. Okay, can I talk in my allowed? To get out because I'm not sure, I know. Yeah, I kind of want to and I, I'm hoping you'll talk about Netflix. I'm okay you're my nuts. You're my Netflix expert? Yeah, go. Yeah, I probably have the most to say on that one, so I can start there. So, Netflix is definitely one of my contenders for story of the week. This week, the reason being is like a little selfish mostly just because that story currently lines up with my current viewing habits. I've been a Hulu HBO. Girl, as of recently, Netflix is kind of on my shitt list TV. Why it's like I'm done, I have nothing. That was me there. Sorry, that was harsh. I didn't mean shitless. Yeah, not one of my favorites at the moment in time but Here's the thing. Ozark is Gonna Come Back peaky. Blinders is Gonna Come Back. There's shows that I know are learning that I'm interested in and I'm pretty sure that like other you say we should we should buy now. I think we should buy at a low I yes sorry this is this is investment advice but I do think that I just convinced myself that this is gonna be a blip and I don't think this is the story of the week so you don't think it's because of the walk. My environment. It could just be competition from from 500 other streaming services that started in the last like year or so. Could it be that? Yeah, I don't. Know, if anyone else saw don't look up but if that is the woke brainwashing on his word about, he doesn't have to worry about much. It was lukewarm at best So that leaves me then with I think probably the Disney culture War. Yeah, and probably maybe this is weird but I sort of want to go Mars. Like I think it's funny that Elon is advertising to fight on Mars is not going to be great which potentially makes me hopeful for the fact that people will like, will be like, oh, well if it's not gonna be a fun easy experience, I don't want to do it. Let's not focus on it anymore, but I do think I am gonna go Disney. The taxes, simply because I didn't understand that Disney was a government had no idea until this week Disney function. Not just like they're gonna be the next Vatican City, they're gonna be honestly, honestly, Emma, I want to talk about every week. I enjoyed that, I enjoyed the way. It kind of like circled around the track and back and hit a wall and I like it. Yeah. So Emma's going with a Disney culture War I? Yeah, go ahead. Ari and the data, Queen Ari, it's not really the mid flight announcement that got that gets me but it is definitely not story because the vitamin registration decided to appeal the what the courtroom forward is said about the mask mandate and that's really freaking huge. It's important. What happens. What comes out of that? It's really important like in the future if the government will ever be able to say, hey everyone for our Everyone's health and Public Safety. We should do blank. Yeah, well, where does that appeal go? I don't even know. Is it go up to the Supreme Court? Because I think it does. Yeah, okay, okay, yeah, yeah. Go ahead. I'm here to tell you you're all wrong. Well, I like this. And this is every week, by the way, it doesn't matter, which is what Matt's gonna pick here. The winner of the week is Florida. The story that we know, that's what. No not Florida. Disney look. We just had Elon Musk and Twitter. Get into Santa's mouth about how in fact the House Republicans just announced today that they want Twitter to preserve all records of their meetings about. Like Elon musk's offer because conservatives starting with the Santa's and in Florida have decided that they're going to step in and say it's the the woke mind virus. That's, you know, no one wants Elon Musk there because he, he's anti woke and it's like, That's a Florida thing. You've got so Twitter and Elon musker and broil than that, then you've got the Disney thing and even Netflix talking about, woke mind, viruses in the first place. Isn't that just like Disney plus coming out of Disney which is in the set, everything comes back to Florida and the judge who struck down the mask. Mandate is a district judge in Florida, who had seven seconds of training before she became a district judge under Trump. Everything about this week is Florida. All I see everywhere is Florida and I hate it. So Florida is the story of the week. So here's the thing. Um yeah, I think that Matt should be disqualified from this round because he didn't follow the rules Ari and I picked options available to us. Matt just created. This is multiple choice and he tried to make it fill in the blank and he's a typical male. Well, I guess all live inside the box. I just outside the box and some ways I think Matt is right. So, really, he's saying, of course he's he's picking so I guess he's really picking white. So there's a story. Damian, Matt telling you that you didn't pick the right things. Come on. No, I appreciate the way he grouped those up. I think that, I think you're right. It is there's sort of a Florida problem going on, I guess. Florida. Yeah, it does represent sort of the It's the anti woke police. Now of our of our Union. Is that what it is? So all these corporate stories although Texas for a while that was the place that a lot of the anti-woke Silicon Valley entrepreneurs ended up, right. This is so it's anti-woke performance, art between Texas and Florida and they're in a battle to one-up each other with quashing, the rights as of as many people as they possibly can and, and making sure that white people feel comfortable in their snowflake lives and freedom. Just so we can move on with this. I'm gonna pretend that Matt voted for Disney because Disney story represents Florida. So, let's just pick that moving on. Moving on as holy is the week. Matthew McCarthy. Come on. Asshole. I'm actually gonna do this out of order because the asshole is to the week. I'm gonna start with Florida and this is why Florida is the asshole the week because you're making me a fucking libertarian between DeSantis stepping in and saying that the poison pill was basically like an anti-wolf or a woke move because they can't control Elon Musk and then actually doing the removing the text status, the tax status is something that like I think we can all agree. Disney should not be the Vatican like they shouldn't have a special tax status District in the first place. And yet here I am defending Disney. One of the historically, most conservative places, they added out, gays from their movies it. They're like, they're like a terrible company. When it comes to wokeness. I'm stuck defending Disney's, right? To be anti-woke or woke because of Florida. Yeah, top it off with the Florida Department of Education rejected out of 130 or 30 math textbooks for K through six. They rejected 54 of them because they thought they had references to critical race Theory, math books. There's no critical race theory in math. You know what they had. They had a picture of black people saying, how do you feel about the math? You just learned, do you feel confident? Do you feel less confident it day? Embedded social-emotional learning into math because the academics have found. And when kids can express, the way they feel when they're frustrated about learning something new, that they actually do better, when they get to talk about that thing somehow in Florida, they connected that to studying the systemic racism, that's existed in this country for like a 200 years, 300 years. Well, I'm gonna guess it's more likely that if you do the business, Pants math that you could connect. All these politicians to textbook Publishers in the state textbook publishing is often aligned with a very conservative ideology these days. So I'm wondering if they're not just kind of helping someone make a lot of money by having to kind of republish new textbooks so except they rejected McGraw-Hill books. And then a local florida-based textbook maker like they, like all of their books. The number one, Donation from individuals, coming at a Disney was to a, this is, this is a quote, this is a quote, from what the Google told me, it's America's first action is the group and it is a white nationalist far, right, political conference organizer who has a pack, we're talking about, like their, like, that's who basically Disney employees, donated money to the same group of people who are washing, Disney are getting money from people at Disney and you've got checks Florida, right? I fucking hate you because now I'm defending shit like, conservative textbook, makers, the conservative, Disney Corporation. I'm protect. I feel like I have to protect their right to be assholes. I hate it. We're where did you go in your last? Kitchen. What state is good? I did not choose any of that, by the way. Okay, that's good. That's that's so that's, that's an option. How you talk that are? Do you have any, are you only one option this week for options? Okay. Um the next option is Activision Blizzard who knows just keeps sucking me back in Activision Blizzard. Added a woman to their board and adding a second woman at their annual shareholder meeting. Okay, could it be more token to add two women to your board 40 seconds before you get acquired by Microsoft? Right. Could you create a more token thing to do? Historically, this board has been no more than 20% women, and all of the Bros on the board are best friends with Bobby kotick. Match this up with the fact that news broke yesterday that Sheryl Sandberg. Actually spent a significant amount of time, trying to quash all negative stories, about her, then boyfriend, Bobby kotick, the CEO of Activision Blizzard, oh, I missed that story while they were dating. She at Facebook was quashing stories, about Bobby kotick. Nice, although I kind of feel like I do the same thing. If I were the CEO of Facebook, I'd be cautious stories about my girlfriend. I, all I know is that. Activision keeps somehow reeling me back in as the perfect asshole. Well, let's be real mad. That's, my Microsoft is, is forcing them to add women to the board know so that what they can dissolve the board. Why why even bother? Yeah, good question. Well Activision blue, it was Activision Blizzard, right that came up with the car Community, excuse that they couldn't find a woman for the board, right? They fell below the California mandate, so they couldn't, they didn't even hit the Mandate in. The reason why was we were busy talking to Microsoft Office in the last week, so we couldn't find any women to add Activision. you, you deserve a special prize that asshole prize and an annual basis and my third option Is Elon Musk. but, Because Elon Musk said the woke my virus is making Netflix on. Watchable if you just parse the words there, what he really said was black people being in shows is uncomfortable for me. He also went on to say diversity in Netflix. He basically, yeah. Well, I mean, like, what is the woke? Mind, virus. It's not like the topics of like, like, it's, it's 90%. Baking shows in reality, television. What, what are we talking about? Like it's not like I'll say, yeah. And you're right, like one thing that looks does well in the last few years is, is there the representation of non-white actors directors? Creators is it's big. It's like it's pretty. They're done a great job so I bet you're right. But it's hard it's uncomfortable for for a young boy from South Africa to deal with all these crazy. I mean, he did say he said in his follow-up quote, that quote wokeness is hateful and in case that sounds familiar to you. It sounds a little bit like that recently. Yes, G is the hate Factory. I don't know. Just a little like that. Someone said that very famous? He's too. Yeah. Peter Thiel, Elon Musk. They are, they are angry. They have like looking angry. Yeah. Unlike like and I love that like, you know, yes she's a hate Factory and woke wokeness is hateful like like Elon Musk. Actually runs a factory where they spray painted the n-word on the bathroom wall and he's telling us that. Yeah. Yeah, I think you're right to point that out because I would say, very notably Tesla has one of the worst problems with that very issue in all of corporate America. I mean, I know, anecdotally bringing that up, but but, but Tesla itself is struggling mightily with this issue. More than most other corporations. It's worth. It's worth pointing. It's been sued multiple times. And the only way out of this now that I can see is for Elon to buy Netflix, so that would make him the asshole of the week and those are my three options. So you three options are. It's funny how important for me libertarian Activision and Elon Musk Netflix. But anyway, he wants to buy a majority of Twitter, but he doesn't even want to buy a majority of Tesla. Okay. Who anyone want to go first? Yeah, definitely Activision. It's definitely definitely. I can't be made me upset about to like and additional woman to the woman. They have like two women getting on board and I'm mad about it. I get that. I get that. We hate them in general, but isn't this a positive development? I don't understand why you upset about that. Why I'm upset. It is positive. So they should never do anything right? It's over for them. It is all right. Yes. You know what? You know how they make everything right? If every single board member that was there during, you know, everything that happened resigned and gave their seat up. And a qualified woman got on there. That's good idea. Like when there are nine Damien. All right, I have an idea, the the acquisition offer from Microsoft is not yet. Final what? Don't you pull a knee on? Why don't you buy Activision Blizzard along with your housemates? You know, I didn't take your private and kick everyone out. I used to think that it was active Vision blizzard, okay, now I'm lost, I don't think I'm not a vision like Active Vision like okay. I just want to say I R is absolutely right that like it's not that they did something right? It's when they did something right? Because it's after long after it mattered after everyone's gonna cash out it's not like the women who joined this board, get a piece of the fucking Microsoft deal. They don't even get to join the board of Microsoft. They're on the board for like four months until the deal. Like closest, they get no shares. There's nothing good about this except for the Optics of look, we're working on our problem. It is a pure asshole movement. You had your turn, Matt Emma. Do you want to talk out? You're feelings here. Do you have a clear choice in your head? I think I get to talk about my feelings sound. I do think I have a decently clear choice though. I think I'm going to go with Florida because one this is an actual option now. So I can choose it. Matt and he basically by the way and the previous round, he basically chose an answer that one didn't exist in two. He made up for the next I know. Right. So himself and he and he's agreeing with Activision. I know very selfish, man. It's not my problem. Crazy, get it wrong every time. But I am going Florida, mostly because the textbook thing really I think the textbook Thing Really Got Me and now I want to write like an exclusively critical race Theory, themed math book. So like all the problems are like Bobby and Susie were handing out water bottles at a BLM. March, they handed out eight water bottles and they have 12, how many water bottles did they have before they got to the March, that's what I'm hoping for I am. Well let's talk about race. All I know is that I am deep in on textbooks. Only math textbooks that are basically only critical race Theory math textbook. Yeah you do it I'll buy it. Sweet. Why did you leave out the Florida? Judge breaking the mask Mandy off your list here. Mostly because Matty masker, ya know that I it didn't really that didn't make me libertarian that was just like an unqualified person sitting in a position. And making a ruling that affected everybody, but I'm gonna still wear. I got a flight next week. I'm wearing a mask. Like I don't care like he one thing in Florida. Said, I wasn't allowed to wear a mask and then it would make me angry. All right, I gotta go. I'll break the tie here. I definitely think. I mean, Matt convinced me Emma's right Matt already convinced us and the other round that it should be Florida. This Activision Blizzard thing. I mean, I know you guys are Still upset at them and I understandably. But I'm not gonna crap on them for adding women to the board. That's just nonsense. So it's Gotta Be crap for it, what a horrible week for Florida. So let's go for that one. Moving on, sending trophies for assholes of the week. Every single week to the yes we could start making them first. Maybe that would be a good idea and then we can start sending them. Yeah, let's do that. Why don't we do with that order? In that order, making send every single week, let's just on social get a trophy image and put the win like this asshole the week. Winner. Well why don't we to kind of balance that though? And since Ari segment is up next I think we could send out a good list throw it just I don't care about everything else so see how I transitioned their. So gracefully Ari the data Queen tell us what are the good least stories of the week? Come on. Have three for you this week. But we're going to start with the pandemic. So there's a pandemic horrible time especially for women. Right there were disproportionally affected by job losses, early in the pandemic and then Later. They were able to find childcare to return to work we're like, reliable child care? But A silver lining is that during the pandemic, more women became interested in investing and actually two out of five women who currently invest outside of retirement started doing it during the pandemic. and, The idea. Why? Maybe because of job loss and because they had more time to learn about it, right? So in 2018, like there were only 44% of women that invested and now it's jumped up to 67% outside. So that's pretty significant. What do you know? What's that percentage for men? Any clue. Okay, I would assume 90. And 90, okay. Number two, Amazon to conduct racial Equity audit late, by former Aggie Loretta Lynch racial audit. Come on you guys. Oh, Do we know yeah? How did this come about? We know anything about that shareholders really want Amazon to commission an independent review of how the company May contribute to racial inequities last year. There was their shareholder proposal. And it got like 44% of the vote, but it was ultimately rejected this year. There was another proposal refiled, I think the vote or the meetings next month but they announced that they are, they announced that they're going to look into this. Racial racial and equity for hourly workers, which is a million people in the United States. And the yeah, they're gonna make the results public, which I think is the most important part. So, you're saying that the alternative democracy is working in this instance, so that they are instead of their instead of, letting this go to vote. Again, we're basically passed last time. I mean, I really like, I think if it gets like 20 or 30% of the vote that should be considered a pass. But but so they're gonna actually acknowledge this proposal and do it. That's incredible. I think. that's actually with everything that's happened since the last year, they're like, okay, well, this is gonna be Like on the they're gonna vote on it again it's probably gonna go higher. Let's just get this out before the meeting next month. Okay, they I wonder if that's a, they call that a jazzy, whatever you want to know that just sequence unintended consequence alert which is that, it's soon as the audit becomes, public unionization jump dramatically because everyone realized how fuck they've been getting by Amazon at warehouses. That's that's that's that's my unintended consequence alert. Mmm delightful. Oh yeah, I'm I'm excited for this and number three. Number three Wells Fargo is persona. Non grata in New York City was that. I'm so tired of Wells, Fargo, like, who is a leadership over there. So in 2017, the federal government told them that the company needs improvements about, their discriminatory lending practices, then in 2020 Wells, Fargo agreed to pay 7.8 million dollars in back wages to resolve it allegations of hiring discrimination. I know. So little right. Maybe she should know the exact number they got fine. Yeah. You know a true yes she analyst you don't you you hide the numbers that don't really make your case very well. Well Bloomberg News a study show that Wells Fargo rejected more than half of its black applicants looking to refinance their homes in 2020 now. Wells Fargo was the only Bank major mortgage lender to reject more black people, more black homeowners and it accepted it approved step over 70% of its white applicant, right? Like they're just On A League of Their Own. So New York City announced that its refuse, it's refusing to open new accounts and the chair of the finance committee on the council said in the press release, In a world where we already expect big Banks to float the law and make their own rules Wells. Fargo really outdid themselves? Wait, are you, what are you talking about here? Like what do you mean that they're refusing to open new account? So in New York City is not going to work with them. Like, what do you? I don't really understand that. Yeah. Like they're not being they're not being kicked out of New York, I wish just New York City is suspending, its account with the bank because that's what you're saying, they're not opening in New York, the city opening new accounts, okay? Okay. Well, there, there ending the previous business relationship or they're just not opening new accounts. Do we know they're sanction? Your second look. All right. Yeah, no, I appreciate this. A headline. I appreciate where you're going with this with this one. I just don't know. I'm wondering what the full effect of this is is this like a bit of they're just publicly shaming them and I love that. Which is important. Yeah yeah this is my answer is now very clear. It was okay. Go ahead. I'm going Wells Fargo because honestly all I needed to swing me over to this story was the quote from the chair of the finance committee saying that Wells Fargo really outdid themselves because that is just I can so see it like them shaming Wells Fargo like yeah, you guys really outdated yourself and I love that. I love it. Who was the chair of the finance committee? I feel troubled by that. Just yeah. In a world where we already expecting to flout the law and make their own, it's sad that we that that's always, of course, he's right. But yeah, no, I'm with you. I'm, I, this is, um, But is this like just the inverse of a Rhonda Sanchez is the woke. This is the pro woke. New York City's. Now, the pro woke police. Is it provoked to demand base level of equality? No, Yes, isn't like there are laws against this stuff. So always you, I'm with you, you don't have to convince me. Law and Order like, Argument, I'm with reframing. Yeah, you should I mean, but, but what I'm saying, is with the mainstream media put, this is like part of the culture War, like is New York City, on one side of the culture, or in Florida and the other side faces. No. Yeah, our doesn't like that. No this. Yeah. But I, I almost wanted to go with Amazon because I love it when the alternative democracy works. I specially love it when, as I said before, I think that there should be a new threshold for what passes at these meetings because, you know, 6% countries in some countries, the threshold is even as low as 20% where if a single shareholder or group of shareholders controls, 20% of voting shares at that company, is considered to be controlled by that by that shareholder because that's a lot is a significant amount in that that entity usually has a lot of control. So I'm happy that Amazon is is deciding to pass. This resolution it, got in the 40s last year, so it should have been passed. So, I like that a lot. I'm skeptical about the results. Why, but I do look, but I, well, I'm skeptical what what's gonna happen? Because I just don't trust Amazon to do right by its workers. But I do like Matt's perspective that I think Matt is actually absolutely, right. That this is an instant we're disclosure at this time is going to absolutely hurt. Amazon's anti-union effort. But of course, my mind thought next was, how long is gonna take to release this report? 7, 18 months by 20 years. It'll be up by 2 5. Yeah good. Good question and horrible answer. But I, I'm gonna go with Wells Fargo because this is just great. I mean, this is your right arm. This is a company that we love to hate. This is the infamous CEO, Charles Scharf, the the chief racist in control there. Who remember who who apologized for not hiring more black because he couldn't find any good black people to hire like, that was his basically. We named it Crown racist officer. Yeah, go ahead. So that's my vote to. I'm absolutely with you. I'm Pro, usually, I'm Anti New York City for most things, go Celtics. But for this one, I'm definitely see that. I'm gonna lose because my vote Wells Fargo wins. So my vote doesn't matter. So what is your vote? Know your vote does, my vote is because millions of our listeners actually rely on your punditry to get them through the day. That's true. I've been told that by my mom. I the Correct. Answer is the positive. Pandemic side effect for women. It is because there is nothing worse than the dick war that is investing. You literally want women running this, you want them running markets, you want them running boards, you want them running companies because that we be far better off if women owned a lot of shares and could vote in the alternative democracy, because who's like, think of the ripple effect, right? As women own more shares of companies as they make more investment decisions. As they are more, actively managing sort of like Capital markets money, they actually start voting, they start voting on all sorts of issues, they might file more proxies. What's the outcome here? The outcome could be a pretty spectacular, you know, view of companies. They could change companies over time. I think that is the best one by far and it goes in the week. In a business pants. Friday, first, I'm gonna change my vote from, I think I'm gonna agree with Matt in that one, that the long term ramifications there. And I, and shame on me, really? I that if I knew, I was gonna vote with Emma there, I should have let Matt go first and in order to sway me, possibly. So, shame on me for being adorable, host of the business pants Friday. I just, I, I think you're right. Matt, the long term effects. Here are quite profound, that more women are getting into investing is, is it's, it's an extremely sort of important shift. So I'm gonna, I'm gonna change my vote, but Fu to Wells, Fargo, still, I still believe in that, oh, Equity audit starting 2016, and it was published in 2016 and then there's a three-year review published in three year. Well, are how many in the same year that they started? But they, like Airbnb rents other people's homes. How many employees they have, like seven. They just have, like, seven people like running their dumb app. I mean, you know, size of a country. So they interface with, right? That's where a lot of the race. Charged. Things. The part of their part of their Equity, part of the racial Equity data had to do with the host Sue and the customers. Yeah, absolutely users were getting denied because their profile picture was very prominent when they went to do bookings. And hosts were declining black people at a higher rate. And how long it takes him to do that on it. They start in 2016. They published their initial findings in 2016. Then they did a three-year review with with their findings with like what to do. Recommendations. And then they did a three-year review in 2019 about so impact. Amazon is a size of Jupiter, and Airbnb is his size of my pre-plant, media coffee mugs. So, I'm gonna say it's gonna take Amazon, so, because it's about the policies, right? So they can be, you know, three million people like in have a 1,000 warehouses. But what's going on at those? Warehouses isn't just, it's just a blueprint spread. Here's my actual fear is that. I know the Amazon is listening to us right now. And I think Matt's very good point about how it's going to disrupt immunization efforts. I think they're going to slow roll the racial that is correct. That is the correct answer. This Amazon is going to take Six years to do this racial Equity audit, and they're going to say they're being really, really thorough and they're doing it on purpose. So that, by the time, all the union votes go through, they have they don't think give them any evidence. Yeah, kind of like the CEO, CEO Scott Kirby United Airlines. They're gonna go one by one. They're gonna talk to each person individually. They have a very long drawn-out conversation, maybe they're gonna watch all nine seasons of How I Really Gonna Take Time. So, okay, I like we take a seriously. I'm moving on to the so the the good story of the week is the positive. Pandemic side effect for women more women investing boom, Emma. Why is Emma last? Why is she up to be last irritating is of the week. Emma lurking. Come on. All right. Number one, let's just do it. Anyone whose headline adjective is embattled and we see I was already winning. Yeah, that's the best thing I've ever heard. So, Yeah, I do do it, just do it. Tell us. Yes, people in companies were described in their respective headline as embattled, which is really just code for. They fucked up and they're now in deep shit, but in battle sort of, makes it sound like they're overcoming adversity, and they're just cleaning up. Their mess is really. What's going on? I'm excited to hear what these are. Yeah. No, these are all. This is one category you can vote for all of these in one category, the embattled. All right, call them the embattled, you know, it's a great word. If you go through as many headlines as I go through, you will so many people and things are labeled as embattled who really just have fucked up. Anyway. All right, the first battled headline, Sheryl Sandberg reportedly used Facebook resources to help in battled Activision, CEO embattled. That's okay. Boo hoo. Next, Elon Musk says the woke mind, virus is making Netflix unwatchable. Piling on in battled streamer, the embattled scanner wasn't accosted by anyone. No one did anything. So horrible to a megacorp like Netflix. It's fine. And see embattled ideal CEO, Sandy speaker, I think is stepping down. So, employees complained about a toxic work environment for women and people of color sounds like her employees were in battled, not our gal Sandy. So those are the embattled that is Choice. Number one for you. So the week, I mean, I would almost argue that those headlines are misusing the word because if in battle means to be set by problems or difficulties, aren't they creating their own problems, right? I don't know about the Self battled right there. Like master Mastery, battled or something. All right. Those are the in battle. Moving on. Okay. Oh my gosh, this needs to be a book. Being battled too, a 16 year. Former Walmart employee with Down Syndrome was awarded 300,000 dollars after being fired now, Walmart is Seeking a new trial, this act. Yeah, it's horrible from the wall to begin with. And then once you even take like a touch below the surface, it becomes horrible again and more. Yeah, this is irritating, firstly, because she was originally awarded 125 million dollars and that amount got reduced to 300,000 dollars. I can't, I don't know what those proportions are. I don't know what judge sat there and was like, I'm gonna produce the amount that this person is oh, how much should I reduce? What's the point of having a jury? What's the point of that jury? Even though I couldn't possibly tell you? Yeah, so that's irritating alone. And secondly, the fact that they want a second trial, it's 300,000 dollars, its 300,000 dollars, it is Yeah, pocket change to them. It's ridiculous. Not even 125 million is probably truly. Oh too. True to True. Are you today with the numbers are not having any of these these yeah numbers today. Broncos buyers hashtag So Walmart is claiming that management was unaware of space, difficulty space, being the person who got fired difficulty adjusting to her new set schedule, as being linked to her down syndrome. And in Tuesday's Court filing Walmart said that this lack of knowledge means that space. Termination was not an act of Reckless or sorry of malice or Reckless indifference towards her disability. So they think they deserve a new trial. Because the circumstance, why could they proved that in the first trial like what they need a new trial? I don't understand. Could they have said that one sentence in the first, couldn't possibly tell, you have no idea. What is I don't? What is this all about? Do you understand like why this I mean they were kind of risking a lot of backlash for this kind of thing. What, there's nothing more. You can tell us here what this is like very irritating. Good one. It's stop a precedent from being present about responsibility for your employees which like, you know, sounds like Walmart. So for all the yeah, so because if all the down all the people down syndrome that they do employ you multiply that by 300,000, that's gonna bankrupt Walmart. Yes. Is that what they're doing? But the match. And finally, number three Mark, Zuckerberg's, metaverse obsession is driving, some current and former Facebook employees, nuts, quote. It's the only thing Mark wants to talk about and this one is sort of fake like I probably shouldn't have included this one in all honesty. Yeah, but this one is more irritation by proxy. Then me actually feeling irritated by it and I find it more funny than anything else because I'm sort of amused by the image of one of the most evil powerful men in the world. Like Irritating. The shit out of everyone who works for him because he won't shut up about the metaverse. Like I have a vision in my head of Mark being like so in the new iteration of the metaverse like did it and all of his employees just like shutting down and not I always over. And so I'm feeling their ears. All his employees are trying to like show him the new way. The Facebook is gonna creep on people. He's like I don't care talks about the members and they're like, we got stuff to do. We have privacy to violate, like, I don't know what you're doing. So those are your three options. We have. The embarrassed, we have Walmart and we have Zuckerberg's metaverse obsession. I wouldn't usually defend Mark Zuckerberg on anything, but what? I mean I don't give the guy a prick. Why wouldn't he want to talk about the metaverse? Company. I mean, what is he gonna do? We need to ride Facebook for the next 100 years. I mean, come on, get over it. He wants to do something new. Give me, dude. Walmart got me. Okay. Oh my God, you that's very You can vote for so you're voting for Walmart. Yeah that was yeah, Matt look, if you look at the definition of the word, first of all, Um it also includes another definition is involved or prepared for war especially because because surrounded by enemy forces so contextually what they're saying is Bobby kotick is surrounded by enemies who he made himself, it doesn't need but it doesn't need to specify how those enemies came to be enemies, right? It's just saying that he's in battled so mostly you're gonna win battle. You're gonna win the week for a grammatical irritating IST of the week and is my favorite thing ever but I can't use it as the most irritating. All right because there is an alternate definition Zuckerberg of course he's a he changed the fucking name of the company to meta. Give me a break. He was like he's not gonna want to talk about anything else. Tater, get over. If you don't like your job working for a dictator, go work for a different dictator. Go work there apple look. It's a widely held company. There's no, there's no right shareholders. There's another dictator who's just doing social media, which leads me with the 16-year old fire from Walmart. I just roll the person worked there for 16 years. 16 years, 16 year veteran. Yeah, the Down Syndrome 16 year veteran. I just want to say that 300,000 Is about, is what? One. 100 and 120 of the Denver Broncos. And okay, the air of the Walton Fortune is looking to spend four billion dollars potentially on the Denver Bronco just an air and that's right. We know that he know that's just did he even do anything? That's all you have money and just born and and we're we're going to we're going to go after. The the woman with Down Syndrome that you fired and the judge had to tell Walmart that they had to rehire her. Yep. That is how like they fired. And then the judge had to say, you have to rehire, you you you false, you fired her wrongful termination, it's it was wrongful termination. You you can't fire her. and they're gonna fight like imagine she shows up to work the next day and they're like, she's that, here's your subpoena it And then they're like, sorry you're gonna have to go back home because we're fighting you again. The woman has fucking Down syndrome. Just give her give her the money and walk away his parents. It's a, it's a, it's a parking ticket. This one. I don't, I don't understand this one. So what's the a little background here? I don't understand the upside. Supposedly. The the amount of the verdict was reduced on federal law which limits the maximum amount allowed under this law is 300,000 dollars. That's a terrible Pro Corporation law, by the way, But I don't get like and over. So over 16 years that's like basically giving her like a 20,000 ish bonus each year for 16 years server. Whatever like yeah, I don't get it. I just don't understand that there's got to be something. I mean you probably write Emma the, there's a press, but what's the president? No means just the kind of thing where when you work in the corporate law office, You're constantly in battled and and all your employees are in battling. You all the media as in battle, you like that you just are like, so your natural knee. Jerk reaction is to fight everything. And yeah, some of these things are just like we, we accept the outcome of this trial, just just like, don't even bother with. I know, I know you want to go through the road process of like, oh, we're gonna take this to the last level and we're just forget about it, just say we accept the outcome of this trial, here's your 300,000 bucks, which we actually were probably gonna tax write off anyway and it's not a big deal because, you know, like I think one of the Walton kids sneezed and 3,000 came out of their, you know briefs it doesn't matter. Just let it go. The that's irritating the document, the document is locked, so I can't change my prediction, but now I'm wondering if this this that there's probably so many lawsuits that Walmart. Are fights throughout the year. I wonder so I wonder that that they're not elevated to the level of the c-suite. They don't know what the hell's going on. I wonder now what the publicity of this if they're going to drop this new lawsuit because again this is embarrassing. So that would have been my prediction that Walmart CEO Doug McMillan is going to listen to us and then drop the lawsuit because it's an embarrassing. It's an embarrassment to pursue this new lawsuit. But since my vote doesn't matter here. Aryan. Matt have already decided. I'm going to vote for embattled because the battle because I appreciate Emma's mind on that one. Thank you. All right. Those are our stories of the week. We have Florida basically winning everything because they suck and more women investing. And Walmart is an embarrassing Place full of Rich, baby errors, that's it. And before we get out of here, who won the week and they want to know anyone have a thought, I do. The word embattled one of the week. I think we all know that to be true self. What are you doing? You're pat yourself on the back, on the back with, who won the week every single week. I'm allowed to do it once. You know what, Emma, I'm gonna I'm out. I'm now gonna award you. I'm as a, you won the week for having the audacity to tell you. It's a basically praise yourself. I'm bold. You know, like the you like the women investing you. Exactly. Thank you. I'm up for the win. Anyone else listening to Matt? Talked about the anti-wolf people reminded me of state senator from Michigan, Mallory McMorrow. And Her speech this week, this is what we need to do to the anti-walk people. What was her speech about Holly League of hers, a republican colleague, sent out a fundraising email and described her as a groomer because Um, there's a lot of laws right now in Michigan, like being proposed stigmatizing gay and trans children and their families and McMorrow is against those laws. So this other Senator states that are called, are a groomer. So, um, she gave speech and basically what she did is, what we all need to do. She just took their beliefs and flipped down his head. She was like, you don't have the Monopoly of, like moral High ground and religious High Ground. My deep conviction, is that all their children deserve kindness and respect and that's why it come from as a Suburban, mom, like religious woman, right? So this like somebody that fits with them being like, super scary to them. So I think I think it was awesome. Did you call Mallory McMorrow in battle? You think definitely, battled So okay, so I'm just saying another win for grandmother there. Matt, you gotta who won the week there? Yeah, free speech won the week because oh, speaking of another battle thing. Yeah, go literally concept. Nobody wants it. Liberals want you to be politically correct? Conservators. Want you to stop being woke. The lesson is just a dumb idea. Free Speech won the week, okay? I love how I won the week. I don't really understand TJ. You're listening. Rufus, are you listening? It's Only let's wrap up with predictions. I have a prediction again. I wish I could have changed it but the document is locked. Now for editing. My prediction is that leaked audio of your cook. Describing Apple Store workers wanting to unionize as quote entitled trust fund kids and quote will finally turn his image. That's that's my prediction. Leaked audio. Anybody else? Yeah, I have one. I think the Amazon racial Equity findings will be published by this Christmas on this Christmas. Wow, that's a very Christmas you're full of it already. Oh, specific that weird prediction. I like that. It's in all caps. And I like that. I like that. You're shouting out the birthday of Jesus Christ. That's so cool because we shouldn't forget, I feel like the world's constantly forgetting that. That's what really Christmas is. It's Jesus. Christ's birthday. Like oh, every time we had red wine, we were like the blood of Jesus Christ. She was released. There must be his rebirthday party, right? Yeah. It is 100% unbirth. Yeah, it's like the awakened dead. Yeah. Okay. Go ahead the watching, which The Waking Dead. PS, Jesus's birthday is actually a co-opted pagan celebration or stop. So, stop don't say that. Whatever birthday. Whatever Christ Mass. It's not called Pagan mask. Go ahead. My prediction is a real prediction, which is if Elon Musk buys Twitter, It is the beginning of the end of section 230 of the communications decency. Oh, the part big news that says, social media companies aren't responsible for the content on other platforms. Whoa, what is going to happen on a platform with as many users as Twitter being fully privatized and in the control of an eagle maniacal billionaire, who's talking about selective Free Speech, just a different selection of free speech because he actively wants to quash like that kid who's tracking his airplanes and anybody who disparages him he or old Netflix I guess for too many Asians. He's effectively going to create sort of like a Elon Musk Echo chamber. Where he can see here? Only what he wants to see in here. And I think when the trolls come out on Twitter that's when Congress he's going to get called in front of Congress. So many times just like Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg have been That they're just going to strike down section 230. They're gonna say interesting, this is too far, we've now gone so far that it's just three or four billionaires that run all speech in the entire world where we're taking away, your ability to say we're just a platform, you now own the content and you're responsible for it. Wow, that's a that's a prediction everybody. Come on, Professor Scott Galloway. I mean my mascara. I like it. Come on. That was a good one. Dare you. Emma anything here. Prediction is that some Stupid late night, host is gonna steal my my critical race Theory math textbook. Idea if they have it already, that's that's my prediction. Well what was your idea? Oh I I do remember your ideas you said it like 10 minutes ago I'm sorry I just Yeah, I was I was like, still in the about. I thought you should be something about the Celtics because everyone knows you leave work early today. All right? Thank you. That's, that's all I got. That's business. Bad for this week. We'll be back next week with more daily content, and please, can you listen, like, can you listen and send this around? Listen to this, listen to us, we're right, we'll talk to you next week. Bye.
