Live. From the CFA Institute, secret, special secret cappuccino and Latte Spa. I didn't know. I had a latte spot. It's a very special and secret Thursday. Spectacular join is always by Emma Napoleon Dynamite lurking. And Matt, Napoleon Bonaparte muscari, suited their man, I see, I see the Napoleon's difference in your personalities. Yeah. Different in Napoleon's. I'm what the CFA Institute would describe as someone who should not bother applying. I don't really know what the, what does that mean? I shouldn't even try. I shouldn't even don't even Save today's ransack bag of metaverse scented nuggets called July 14th 2022. The good game featuring a very fancy expert. Who. If you're if you're live streaming with us you see right? You see in front of you it's Matt or say from the CFA Institute City in the bowels of The Institute is the actual bowels. Do they use? That looks like it's it does. Uh, Matt is I'll do a brief introduction in the mac and just say hi and add anything. I missed but Matt is a senior director of capital markets policy at the CFA Institute. Matt has been there for 17 years. I've not done anything simultaneous, like for, for one, for stretch of 17. I'm barely able to do something for 17 minutes, but in one place for 17 years have they let you out of that basement in those 17 years? Well, if you're seeing the movie Office Space, it's like the guy with the red State blur. Yeah, that's fell out of 10 years ago and there's a glitch in the software and he just keeps Getting paychecks. So I'm just hoping that's better. That's better job. The guy we have on the show today. That's the best job you can do. Honestly, Matt has been in the ESG space for 10 million years despite being its CFA for 17. He is one of the original GMI, he predates our very own Damien Raleigh's so we have a an actual expert on the show. Instead of what we usually have, which is us. Yeah, faux experts. Yeah. Whatever that is. So is that did my intro? Do you justice Matt or do do? Should we go on because I can know, that's good. Let's get rolling. Let's do it. We're gonna play the good game. We haven't played the good game. In several months, which I feel suddenly really sad about. I feel like it's an indictment on me that you guys don't like me, because this is one of my favorite things. This is the good game and I'm gonna, I'll just describe it to you. Matt very briefly, my mom who listens to the show because, yes, we do have a listener and it is my mother. She asked me one day and one of our lovely Beach walks. Why why I'll paraphrase, why the hell do you complain about everything? Why is it always just negative nonsense? There must be something good going on the world. So I designed this game for her. And he headline that makes me feel good. I read it down and then I asked our steam pundit to give me a rating 0 to 10 to tell me if it's actually good 0 to 10, being good, zero being horrible. And then the way this works Matt is that I guess you'll be the Arbiter of Truth. Is that what we want to do? Yeah. Matt and Emma will give us a score and Matt you'll come you'll come in at the end and you'll tell us whose right if anyone. Yeah, the answer will be me every time but let's just play because you'll get it. Once you play it. Okay, because it's so complicated. These rules. Someone has to have fun with our our field of study. All right, we're still waiting for who that is. All right, do it. Okay, I'm moving us along. Oh, we got Bing sounds right like Unfortunately, I have several headlines, say that refer to Elon Musk. So let's just get it going. But here's the headline agrawal. That's referring to the CEO of Twitter willing to be Twitter's sacrificial, lamb in musk deal. And the reason why I'm pointing this one out, why? This is good because Matt I think this demonstrates how brilliant we are as a company because this is the we've been talking about this forever, how the, just the character of young agrawal. So I just want to point this out. I mean, this is kind of a slam dunk though. Like, is it really a sacrificial lamb? When his 12.5 million dollars worth of shares that he was granted in March for becoming, the CEO will accelerated vest and for what was supposed to be like 16, quarters of vesting, he's basically gonna make the money in four months, five months. That just seems fantastic. That's the angle. You're taking that's the angle. I'm taking about a money for him. This is not I mean like he didn't want the job. I don't think in the first place that he and and then couple it with. I have a way out of this. This everyone hate everyone's annoyed at me and I wish they'd leave me alone. I think it's a win. Taking it too serious. I'm gonna give it a seven. Good to demonstrate our brilliant. It's a seven. That's what it is. Seven, seven three are brilliant. Know, I'm not going with that take. I don't like when mattress said I think. They're much different on this headline because I think that, I don't know how good honestly I'm struggling with what's scored to give this because my opinion is not necessarily whether it's good or not, but I feel like it's inaccurate is more my problem. I'm not sure that like the sacrificial lamb thing is it doesn't ring quite true to me. I don't know. It's I feel like it's taking away his autonomy. Like as a leader and as a person I don't know. Like no one point. He accepted the job. He made some decisions about this company. Like, I don't know who he. I don't know why he's a sacrificial lamb. Like, no one. Put him up for Slaughter. It's weird to me. I don't know. It's a five. Here again, I'm asking you to how good is this for us? The company. Free flow media to demonstrate our brand is not how to feel a progressive score. However, we governance experts, that's what I really done the show for two years. When you want to weigh in on this, how impressed are you with our brilliance? Fair enough. Of course, clarification for how the game works, you say scale of one to ten good, like 10 being really, really good. Yeah, that's part of the game. You get to choose one of the game. So, the game we make up our good for who and then argue about it, and then I'm always right. And I'll tell you this off, are Matt. I will edit this out of the podcast. These scores are utterly meaningless. No, don't say that out loud. Utterly meaning, we move markets with this. Totally. I've seen I've seen the show before, so, yeah, I know they're ready. So I would say, you know, anytime you can be a sacrificial land and after your sacrifice. You have enough money to buy a big Market NBA team. That's good. Yeah, I would say you're not the Lakers but maybe, you know, like the Minnesota Timberwolves or something like that. So good. What about like the magic It's more than my, my Cleveland Cavaliers. Uh, yeah. It's hard. That's hard. Yeah. Another LeBron's not there. They're probably not giving any ideas. Yes, he has to be at obnoxious. I love, how was that from? What we've learned about? How was that possible? Do you see a trans? You see, a transformation character coming? Oh, Let's move over to our deep fake meat category of three food headlines. Here we go. Matt, these are all really irk you and I say Matt, I mean, Matt okay here we go. Good. France, banned steak and sausage labels on vegetarian Meats. You know, it's been a while we. We know when we started this, show a few years back. We spent a lot of time in the fake, the Deep fake meat category, the beyond means the impossible, Burgers, all that. It's really quieted down. So I'm excited that we can talk about this again. Matt what do you think about this Banning steak and sausage labels? I have a media. But Emma, do you have thoughts before my immediate thoughts? Um, I'm gonna ask for a little bit of context and I'm really sorry about it, but why? Well look, I'll give you the context briefly quickly, France loves meat. Yeah. And they don't want to play in this ESG world of fake Meats. They don't want to. They don't like the greenwashing of the, of the plant based meat. They don't like, any of it. They love their meats. Is that a good enough context, Matt? No, no, look. I hears here is I two things. Struck me. The first is that Aren't steak and sausage like forms of food. Like it's like a cut. Like you can have a tuna steak, you can have a chicken sausage, it's not the meat, it's a form and which case how can you say vegetarian Meats, they're not saying meet this. If they say, vegetarian steak or vegetarian sausages are just saying, we made the vegetables into the form of a steak. That's seems Like they don't understand the word is really oh, you're saying that the you think that France itself doesn't understand the meat industry? They don't understand me at all. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. And then number two is um, if American cheese is a cheese product like because it's, you have to be 51% real cheese or more to be cheese and American cheese, doesn't make the cut. It's actually less 51%. It's called a cheese or pasteurized. She's products. Yeah, she's food, she's food like item. I don't know. I feel like You know, we could call this a meat product. I'm gonna give this a two because I think they don't understand what they're doing. Emma what? Yeah okay. Turn the light on math reading, excuse me, actually changed my mind and for that, I'm gonna give it but I'm going to give it an eight because I really like the French commitment to being extremely overly serious about their food and it's amazing meters. Yeah, I like it because I'm like, okay there's their tuna steaks we have even gone as far as cauliflower steaks like it's steak is now a more general term and I like that the friend I think Siri yes the French wouldn't even like that term. A tuna steak. Oh I'm sure they wouldn't which is why I love it. Yeah yeah. Keeping serious about your steak, that's the expert Mac. Can you can you clear this up here? Who's right? Emma's, right? I would give it an eight, as well. Because anyone who's overly serious? About a Monday thing is comedy, gold. That's where that's where I'm coming. I agree with but anyone who wants to Go to you know die on that Hill. If you're gonna call it this not this yeah legislative like you he's trying to start a yes G acronym conversation with I'm not gonna lie. All right? Moving on. This is something that that our fancy expert Matt, or segue referred to and pre-production. Here's the headline, Eat the Rich ice cream truck, sells gate Zuckerberg popsicles. I I didn't open this. Headline. So somebody help me out here. Tell me this. This sounds good. I guess. It's funny. It's you were eating people know the context behind the Popsicles I would like to. I would like to know the context in under 10 seconds. There's a company called Mischief that does sort of ironic capitalism pranks and this is one of many that they do. That's that's sounds like us. They do fun stuff like except they actually probably make money doing what they do. They actually kind of do but I am going to rate this headline, a four it would be higher except for the fact that the headline, misses the my favorite popsicle which is the jack ma popsicle. The fact that they did have a jack ma popsicle, that's yeah, is amazing. And I think that it's annoying to me that they'd want to focus on Gates and Zuckerberg. Where's my friend Jack Moss. Is the hot. Is that popsicle in hiding? Is that why? It's your favorite? It's a diet. I like that's the Carlos going boxing World. Carl is going, pop school. Is she show with Jack maughmer? Yeah, let's go. And popsicle is in a cello case I want I'm gonna rate this a two mostly because I want to eat my feelings popsicle and I prefer tax, the rich, not eat the rich. So I just I can't care that much about this. Eat the Rich since terrible. Arboretum. I gave it a four. I think it's funny in general like they price the Popsicles at 10 dollars, like specifically for the irony of it, being a really expensive popsicle when you're eating the rich. Yeah. And I gave it a four because I like it in concept. But where's my Jack ma popsicle in full disclosure before you answer this fancy expert map, full disclosure we reached out to the CEO of that company to come on to this show. I'm actually just kissing their ass. Gabe. That's why that's why I included the headline we love you gave You know, anybody anybody, you know, listening should pause the podcast and go look at, you know pull up the popsicles. Look at them, I would give this a six or seven. So I guess that goes to Emma. Wow. Just and I want I want I think they had like five, they had Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos he did but I want popsicles of everyone. Yeah, everyone in the world Democratic popsicle system or just CEOs. I mean, every one in the world because the, I mean, what would it? I wouldn't even eat a Popsicle myself. Like I wouldn't when not be weird to me, personally, that popsicle cannibalism. And now do well, I guess we out the cannibals so that works, maybe just maybe, just maybe, just maybe just Moving off. Here's the headline beer made from recycled toilet water wins admirers and Singapore. Come on. Are you kidding me? That does seem like an automatic 10 in our world. What do you disagree? When did Myers? And part of the headline? Is like saying, politely, not at your gross idea. That's that there's no, like, what is that? Is that like, how does What's an admirer of toilet water beer? Look like exactly. Hi, yeah. Emma and me know, I'm giving this a 0. I do not want anything associated with my toilet in my mouth. Okay, I feel the need to expound on my answer a little bit. So people who talk about beer in excess are annoying and I don't want to be mansplained to about beer anymore and I am dying to, like, the next time. Someone starts talking to me about beer, I'm gonna be like, oh my God, have you heard of? I don't know what's the beer called? It's like, let me tell you why you're wrong about beer. Emma, sit tight and let me. Have you ever heard of new Brew? It's just like really underground. You probably haven't heard of it. It's like this, you know, this Brewery and Singapore. I don't know, like, don't worry about it. I want to be there. I actually do want to listen in, exactly. That's all right. Matt is a 10. So, what do you think, Matt? I'm gonna have to go closer to the zero. Yeah, let me pull up a quote. Let me quote from this article, go ahead and I can't says I seriously couldn't tell. This was made with toilet. Just, that means they've succeeded, I don't understand the problem. Close your eyes. Yeah. Imagine you ever seen that about anything? I seriously couldn't tell. This was made with toilet work. This is no good water and that sounds like, that sounds delightful to me. I don't know. I do feel like though there is an ESG and finance. Parable in here like I seriously couldn't tell I was doing ESG, like I feel like there's some, there's some Parable anyway, I love that. All right, let's get to the NFL. Another topic, we discussed here a lot. I got two headlines in the NFL both. Of course. Yes. Well, all things sports are are drugs as we all know, Condoleezza Rice. Becomes and this headline writer is having a little fun with this one. Becomes a minority owner of the Broncos and Raiders hire NFL's. First black female team president, I will add a little bit of color here. The Bronco's declined to comment on the size of Rice's steak and financial contribution which makes perfect sense, right? Why would you tell us how much he owns? Yeah, there we go. That's the NFL. They sound good. Alright, they sound like progress, but help me out here. Look, I eyeballed the top 25. I think Matt. Are you are they, is there a loom behind you right now that Priscilla happening at the CFA Institute really is I mean literally they're like I think, I think that was like a hamster on a wheel. Yeah. They're not meta. Oh, churning out that to numbers are literally Benjamin Franklin era like printing press. You know, yeah. Are you printing they're printing money in the basement of the CFA right now? That's printing this one by one, maybe you're graphing. Know, we're we're we like everybody else, you know? We've had a lot of working remotely and we just started coming back. And so, I put myself in a part of the CFA Institute headquarters where no one ever goes the window. Was so everything, so everything, everything would be quiet and they're installing something with the drill and I was like, guys, I'm sorry. Yeah, it begs the question, Matt. Does anyone at the CFA Institute know how to use a drill? Is that they're not from the CFA? Is that on the exam? Know, we outsourced. It's a lot like Finance Connelly's, a rice. Alright, so look, I looked up our the 2500. We actually have board, saber metrics, they're metrics that we missed. We do I eyeballed them and found on the 25th and board members. That's 3% of board members on the top 25 companies that are token to find. Token token is underrepresented. You're the only one on the board. Um, and that would be race, ethnicity gender, and it includes age, right? Like if you are the oldest person by a wide margin or the youngest person by a wide margin, I'm tired of token 8 out of 25 like that sounds like a lot to me. These are the largest companies in the world. You can get anybody like you can find anywhere your talent. Pool is 100, it's all the people, 100% of them. I'm a little tired of celebrating. Like the the fact that Condoleezza Rice is a minority owner of the Broncos. We're celebrating it. Because a black woman is the minority owner of something with it. Being a token. I'm tired of it. So I'm giving it a one. I don't remember reading anymore. The context here was the that we were hoping that we would have the first black ownership group in the NFL, he almost did, and then I went to the white billionaire from the Waltons right to court. Yeah, the wall exactly. So you're going to get us a low score, I take it, I give it a one. Emma. I'm in agreement. It's I I'm gonna give the Raiders. I think the Raiders give it a little bit of a bump so I'm gonna give it a three. Okay, I don't know if you're a sports fan but that's what you got there from the NFL. Most happy when nobody wins and everyone's disappointed. So I'm gonna say too, yeah, I like that's in between both of the years. and and just to make this more about me, Condoleezza Rice, if you go look it up and I remember seeing this purple places, Used to be a big Cleveland Browns. Okay. You used to be. I used to be as well. Yes. And then I realized that painful on the sports team and they just started to get good again and then they went out and got the quarterback. Good work? Yes. Keep. Yeah, he got on the truck. Yeah. So I'm back to not really big. It's a hard thing to roof for. Yeah, I hear you. And and I think and I'm I wonder if at any point in time kind of these rice was approached by the Browns in the past because it's no secret that you grew up with them. She's a big fan of them, I think you like her up in Alabama, or Mississippi, for some reason. It Browns, maybe she grew up in the 60s. I think when they were actually good, right? With Jim Brown and everything. Yeah. But she probably said, yeah. And to be fair, Matt, the team that you grew up rooting for was actually is not the same Cleveland Browns that that right to Baltimore and one, two, and one, two Super Bowl. Right? Well, that's that true. Yeah, that's true. But so, I'm just trying to give you some credit here. Maybe you're rooting for a team that didn't go out and trade for this horrible, man, who was no, they was Ray Rice instead, who that's true. All right, let's To get out of this. So moving on, one of my favorite topics is travel. Another thing I put in the drugs category, this is big news that we briefly alluded to yesterday. He throw CEO tells Airlines to stop selling summer tickets after unprecedented, travel, surge sparked airport, cast. This is an unprecedented headline. I really honestly like, I don't, I don't think I've ever seen the travel industry act in this way, and I think it's fantastic. It's just seems good to me. Maybe it's the start of something. I doubt it will be, but I make it my life's Mission. I make in my life's mission to shit on every headline that you pull and I cannot with this headline in 2019. He throw was estimated to be the second highest murder of carbon because of how busy they are. There is nothing but upside to telling people stop it, just stop, just stay home, no more tickets. Go away. I love it. It's a 10. It's a beautiful. Country. Where are you going? Yeah. Let's go go outside. Emma. I don't, I feel like I, I'm with Matt and I'm not I don't, I usually feel like I would want to rate it differently, just to, you know, be different than Matt because I don't like being the same as Matt, but don't like Matt. That's the yeah, that's the subtext. I don't know. I feel like this is somehow more he throws fault than we know. I have absolutely no basis behind that statement. So I'm gonna give it a seven because I think it is hilarious, that they told Airlines to stop selling summer tickets. That's, they're just like, stop help. Stop. And I like what I think Matt or sag from the looks of it, Matt, you don't ever travel. You look like you're you're in Scotts. Permanently in that basement too. Yes, he do. And yeah. Weigh in on this headline, please, are you getting that from my summer time? No comment. I thought that was a filter you were using. It's it's heavy, it's heavy Eastern, European, and Irish. I think I think at some point he throw will make a great setting for a post-apocalyptic movie or post. Just imagine that place and yeah. Oh, I think I give it up. Yeah. Cut down in there. I mean you've come on, you can go through the channel. You don't need to go to the airlines. Just you can just swim the English Channel. Everything's been done. Just do that. What you go to Europe for? Anyway you asked out of Europe, why flying to it? Why do you assume they're going to Europe? Maybe they're going to where they coming here? Canada, who wants to come here? Canada. Yeah. All right. Moving on Amazon is developing cancer, vaccines with the Fred Hutchinson cancer center, although the headline actually just says developing cancer. Vaccines with Fred Hutchinson, I didn't understand that I didn't know Fred was I guess this is a Cancer Center in Seattle. So excuse, my East Coast ignorance, but what do we think about Amazon? No, home of Jeff Bezos. I want to give us a little bit of reason why it's zero. I don't like it. I don't like Amazon being the bringer of the Cure of cancer. That stresses me out. I don't know what is to come after that. Don't get in. And let me ask you this it's usually recently it's been billionaires giving their money for cancer research. What is that is that better or worse than an actual publicly traded Corporation? I know that Amazon is already trying to take over our Healthcare System. Like they've basically said it they're like we're going to disrupt the healthcare system. This is no I they've already disrupted a million. Other things in healthcare is already struggling. As it is. Don't get involved. I don't like it. Okay. Mamas gardi. Well I like that. You, you're differentiating between a public company and Amazon, and a billionaire in Jeff Bezos, who buy our own metrics is 56% of Amazon, like, Amazon's board influence. Like, he's the majority, like, theoretically stakeholders can have some implications of a publicly trading. Yeah, medically. I could not find theoretically this way, I don't want the company who actively Union busts, Warehouses and allows worker injuries to continue at an unprecedented raid and doesn't seem to care about paying people a living weight. I don't want them in charge of caring, cancer. I just don't really do Emma. I'm not gonna let you take advantage of that. Yeah, that's the apple right now. I'm saying right now. I, I actually, I think the argument is, like, Amazon versus Fred, Hutchinson, who was a baseball player, who died of cancer. So yeah, that's true. And then, he started, he started a cancer. He didn't started his brother. His older brother who had a lot of money started it. So that there's, there's so really you're saying, do you want to baseball player to save your life, or do you want Amazon to save your life with cancer treatment? So, look, I'm generally against stuff like this, but if Amazon can drone deliver, same day my cancer vaccine? Yes, I wish. We know they came a little bit in, I'm a little in. So I'm gonna give this a seven. Yeah. Okay. Both missing the big picture. Yes, that's why you're here. Fancy expert number 424? Yes, go ahead. It's yeah, because because In the future. What this means is you'll be able to jump the health care line with your primary. Yes, discounted strawberries at Whole Foods and line jumping at the Cancer Center. See, this is why we have Matt. You need to. You need a kidney? Yes. Are you a Prime member? No, I'm sorry. Are you a Prime member? Yes. And you can have a kid. I like it. I'm a Prime member. So I mean, I will say this. On the Amazon board. I mean he's obviously Jeff Bezos, right? There are not. The closest, they come to somebody with medical experience, is the former chair and CEO of Pepsi injury. So I I'm not real, I'm not real comfortable. Pepsi has some sort of elixir with like, yeah. When was it Elixir? Yeah, I'm not really comfortable with the oversight of potential life-saving vaccines, on the Amazon board, but that's why you partner with a ex-baseball player Center for Cancer. Well, I mean sorry. Go ahead started. Throw this into the rich in this. A and these are all legitimate headlines, right? Yeah they're all real 100%. That's the strange thing about our show Matt is that everything actually comes from truth? We just subvert it and ruin it. Yes. Because when I saw, when I saw this headline Ms, sent me the headlines. You know, this morning. So I looked over the when I saw this headline and a couple other ones, I was I in my head I was starting to rake them of which one of these is the onion headlines and because I because I thought some of them Some of them could be and this was number one, really? Was like, no. Thank you. So yes, yes, I would probably give it. I don't know without my problem without my Prime Membership. Yeah, I like that but you know, we I have a Prime Membership also. So we both won. okay, well Matt you I want I want my own earned Your points. Yeah you you want to earned access my own, my own my own privilege that I pay you know, 95.00. Uh Matt first of all, Matt McCarty you lied us and told us that you got rid of your Prime Membership. So my wife signed us back up. I didn't sign up, okay. And to you met Orchard that you're you're rating shouldn't be 10, it should be 129.95 because that's the annual fee, right? But I don't want to like extend this conversation but Why is it okay for other companies to develop cancer, vaccines and not Amazon? I'm just again on that. Would they hire the appropriate people? Okay, I'm gonna wake me up when it happens. Okay, so you don't like, you don't trust Amazon, although you do if you have a Prime Membership, what about this, California? We'll make its own insulin, creating a needed shake-up of the pharmaceutical industry. Are you trust California more than I trust Amazon? Sure eight. Okay, so you ate. Wow, you, okay, so you do trust, okay? You trust the Democrat, the democratically. Elected officials in California to make your eyes. I trust not in organization that says, huh? People need insulin insulin is really expensive. Why is insulin so expensive? No reason, other than capitalism going, you know, awry per usual. Let's do it ourselves. Maybe it won't work, but they're thinking about people and the things people need. So, I'm okay with that. Yeah, all right. Matt, you acrylic clearly want to trample on Emma, so go ahead. Yeah, I think California needs to figure water out first. They're literally in the middle of the biggest drought in the history. The recorded history in California 66% of the state is at the severe's level. It's affecting 6 million people who are rationing water currently and 11% of the state exports are agriculture. The biggest one is almonds, so say goodbye to almond milk world. I don't need because it's not gonna, it's not gonna be anywhere. My why can't they just develop a soldier water with insulin as the flavor that is wrong with you? That you can't combine those insulin Seltzer solves, both problems. But That's not what they're developing. Their developing insulin. I think that you know I look it's fine but I think there's other priorities, too. I'm going to give it a five. It's like I can't you. I'm sorry but there's no ways. This low Matt, is it true men or sex? Come on. Yeah, I'm with I'm with Emma on this one because I think I'm all for States doing. Well, it's not ridiculous. I mean, I think this is a good idea. I tend to agree with Matt the other or other Important issues like water. California United States. Yes, but I I'm optimistic that this will this will be part of the arms race of each state. I love thinking about what ridiculous things they can get into and that could be another game. Yeah, we play. You know what is what is California? What is what is Georgia? You know, what you want. You know what? I really want to see, Matt. I want to see Montana's version of Netflix. I want to see what's going on there. Solves problems, just Yellowstone on repeat. Okay, what's your score for that one, man? You, you're starting with Emma. I'd say, Okay, moving on. I've got a couple Elon Musk headlines here, feel free to to gloss over them if you need, okay? Yeah, the first one is Elon Musk says he's upping child, care benefits at Tesla Space X and his other companies. This comes of course, for the news that he impregnated a senior level executive at a company that he founded in controls and as a CEO at. So that's anyway. It's they taught that GMI in the early days, right? Matt, that it was just CEOs. fathering children with other Executives was like, 20% of your score, wasn't it? that was really yeah, just Like yeah. So self-serving it's wonderfully self-serving and as such for the pure comedy of it, I'm gonna give it a 10. Like I like that the headline back to back. That's worth every penny. Yeah. It's a zero. His name was in it and I didn't want to read his name. Okay? The expert Matt. well, I just say, I mean, regardless of the reason for it looks like exactly That's a good. Yeah, it's just another form of the, the classic ESG greenwash that we see right, where executive screw up and then they someone Unearthed a benefit that just magically looks like how the thing they screwed up on. So it's like the NFL making a press release. That Condoleezza Rice becomes a minority. Why Yeah. That's yeah. It's magic. After after an internationally known lawsuit that came out this spring about whatever happened to that. I have no one talks about the lawsuit anymore, but still it's still litigation. I guess, Brian Flores suing, the NFL moving on, I just like the headline. This just seemed this made me happy. Sounds good to me, the two things I've hated for a long time. Here's the headline in Elon musk's Court battle with Twitter. Nearly everyone's a loser. I just like that. That's not a good to me. I mean, I I thought that I hadn't really been thinking this until now, but the unintended consequence of this, this, this despicable war going on, is that Twitter might end up failing, right? Which I'm perfectly content with, but that's the headline that's not gonna happen. No, there is a massive winner out of this battle, you know, there is and free float media. Well, there's us. Yeah, because we get to talk about it more but capitalism is the big winner because Elon Musk can go on Twitter and lie about everything about Twitter, the Bots, he can make, he can manufacture narrative about how they did give them stuff, didn't give him stuff. He doesn't have to comply with the SEC rules about like, how much stock he bought. He, he basically can lie cheat and steal as much as he wants in public. And the Delaware Court of Chancery is highly. Highly, likely to hand down a ruling that says, no, you said you'd buy them, you're buying them. And Donald Trump can do the same thing. And we cannot like figure out like, how to save democracy from the same big life. I think capitalism is the big winner. This is proves that capitalism. The myth of capitalism is stronger than the myth of democracy. That's how one I mean. I like it. It's a nine. Whoa. Okay, I don't really know what he just said. Emma, I wasn't really paying attention. I think I do agree with the majority of what he just said, actually, because I, I don't know if I would assign it, the number he gave, but I do agree that capitalism is certainly the winner out of this and to go into conspiracy theory mode. Briefly, it's all just a big distraction and I feel like it's taking attention from like other way more important stuff than like a baby billionaire. Crying about a company. He doesn't want anymore or whatever the hell is going on. So for the same reasons as Matt, I'm gonna give it to Oh, okay. He gave it a nine. He was good. A peek into some of our HR issues around everyone hate each other. I would, I would give it. I just agree with it. I think everybody's. Okay, I do tell me I want to hear It this is the long the longer this can go on the more Amusement I would get. Okay I Rue the day that the Delaware Chancery rule on this because then all the fun, it's true. He has to. He has to write him a check. Mr. Agarwal gets to buy the Cleveland Cavaliers because he's got really long on that. Yeah, long on that this money? Yeah. And that'll happen, you know? So that's December 1st, whatever day and then and then we'll have, you know, they'll be, it could be very well. Be Elon Musk who does another billionaire doing silly things, right? For the Breads and circuses of it. I'm happy for it now. But okay. Oh It's a poignant moment here at a free quote, media, what what's your score there? Well, I disagree with that, but so, I would say, I would say, oh, wins for the wrong reasons. Let's get serious. Now, going to our Wars category, we have two different headlines, that are pretty interesting about the gun gun laws gun violence here in America. First of all, this is one of the New York applying for a gun permit in New York. A new law is requiring people to hand over their social media accounts. How about this? Honestly, I think for everything we should hand over our social media accounts. I'm liking this. I like if you want to put all your information on social media and hand it to Mark Zuckerberg who is a dual-class dictator? He is the Chinese State. He's just one guy in America that we don't talk about is like an autocratic State actor. Why not like force you to turn over the same data to, you know, to actually do things and the real government that feels like I love it. Well, But what do you mean? I mean, what do you really forcing? Matt? Because these are these publicly available accounts any way. Like you make your account private and only Mark can see it, right? But like, but you're still, but you're still making, but you're still giving it to a publicly traded Corporation, right? I mean, you're not, it's not on some your friend Gus's server, the basement of the CFA Institute, like it's at a corporation, you have willingly, put all of that given all that, to that Corporation. I'm just saying. Yeah. You willingly did it. And which case if you want to willingly shoot someone or something, you should willingly have to hand over your willing data that you handed to that. I like it. I think it's a great idea. It's a nine. I'm curious where Emma where you land on this one. I can see you going both ways on this. Yeah. I I'm not sure how effective it will be. I don't really have much Insight on that, but any barrier between people and gun ownership. I'm pretty okay with. So I'll go with Matt's 9, so you just going with the barrier itself, but I mean, but why wouldn't it be effective? If there was just if there, I know hey, you hate algorithms, you hate algorithms. I think, I don't know in a very genuine way, like, I genuinely do not know what kind of like, I don't know what the logistics of that will look like, like what the budget for that? Like, will it cost a lot of time money and Manpower? Or like will people just find out ways to like hide their social media or at least will there be some weird legal case about how hide it? But in general, I think I just like it. Oh, I got two nines Matt. So that the famous question who was right? Why? I'm not sure. I understand the question. What the headline? Yeah. That's what, that's what I'm trying to get is. So if you buy a gun in New York, you have to give over your social media details. Yeah, that appears to be the case. Yes, that was. I guess that's how crazy you are essentially. Yeah. They'll do a word search for Slaughter millions and if it doesn't pop, you can get the gun. Or if you're associated with certain like domestic terrorist activity, I don't know. Like fair, look at exactly light, fare, light fare. Yeah, I'm I I'll say it's good. You look a little nervous and we'll get straight. It will it will get struck down. Okay. So you but you like the idea in theory, but you think it practically? There'll be. It's gonna be shot down. Yeah, but I think what we should do. It can't be anonymous. Whoa, okay. Because it had to come back. Did they not try that at Facebook to not try to ask you to use your real name? The government ID? Yeah, they asked politely asked, I think Matt lately, or say should buy Twitter and then get rid of the Box, probably listening and off, I'm listening. Authenticate, the human's, I think okay. Here's what Mr. Alcohol gets paid his, what is 12 million. So he's a little short of the 44 billion but he's close. Well, as I saw the story that he was going to get if it went through, he was gonna get 60 million sounds about. Right? In addition that I don't think that I don't think that counts the stock options. So what I would do is I'll go to Mr. Agarwal myself. When Twitter crashes and a couple years we'll buy for cheap and then we'll do that and then no one will go on it because they don't want to be because it won't be allowed to even know. They also don't want to right now. I love this idea. So right now, the four of us, something like the four of us going to be owning in some parts of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Twitter. Now is that what's happening a win-win Okay, moving on. Okay how about this alternative to fighting gun gun bounce in America, Amalgamated Bank CEO, On why we can and should track gun purchases on credit cards. What about that one? I can't believe. We're not doing that already. But what about? This is a solution and Emma. I'm assuming you're gonna say that. You're okay. Oh yeah, the ferry is Banks. Look at them, his face. Her face is terrified. You see? This is why I posed these questions because you're asking, entities, that Emma and her generation already distressed to help us solve social problems. If I had to be an adult, have a credit card and say I'm laughing and have people tell me, you have to have a credit score that you don't really understand that much but dictates a whole bunch of stuff you want to do with the rest of your life, like buying a house renting, an apartment getting a loan of any sort at least the least they could do is track gun purchases. So they're already doing it. Might as well. I don't know. It's a seven. Wow I did not expect that at all. I think it's a I think we need to like sit in the irony that we are asking banks in no particular order to solve the following problems, climate change guns. Abortion War saying shins Twitter and must solving it. They're just tracking purchases that I assumed to hand over to Authority. Yeah, well they're just financing the other things and they're just tracking some other stuff and they sell dark pools and their we were asking him to solve capitalism. And Look, I like, I like a good bank, like the next person like a good bank, but I'm not sure they could solve all the problems for us. Me, maybe, just maybe. We should legislate some of the things that we want to happen like that. We want people, don't we want less gun violence. Okay, let's do something about that, but in lieu of that since this country can't do that. Yeah, let's ask the banks. I'll give it a six, you know. Okay. You are look. Looks like in the basement of a bank so you should format these We're we're still we're still allowed to walk around with big wads of cash. Yes, it's true. Yeah I do, I don't know. I've never done that. I would I would I would yeah I have like three bags of quarters in my pocket now. Oh nice. What else? I'll say to this. Not going to be effective. Oh, wow. People just buy things people. Just I could I I'm too slow to even make the connection of like, why was he talking about cash in his? I got here we go with that. Okay. All right. I mean I would. Yeah. I mean, I would think that anything to steal from you Emma. I think any barrier helps at this point but yeah. I hear what you're saying. Drop this puppy up. We got we got three more in our walk data category, all all our favorite ESG is stuff. Let's start with this one. Women are taking over the US Labor movement. I The, you know, the the headline might be a bit a hyperbole. It might be a bit clickbaity. There's a little bit of evidence as a support this, but let's let's, let's weigh in on this taking over another thing for women to say another thing that women to say women in Banks saving everything I'm taking over. When were we not in charge? That's my main question. There is well, the the, but the literal labor movement? Not just labor. Yeah, sure, you. But yeah, so much that you're making 80 cents to the dollar. Yeah, I think that throughout American history, you can see pretty clearly. That women have basically always been at the Forefront of the labor movement because they had to be women get treated like shit in the workforce. And they've had to accept not leadership positions at the actual labor room movement. But they do the work anyway. So, that sounds really leadership to me, but now they're literally in leadership positions and scoring successes at places like Starbucks. I am I think that I liked the sentiment of this headline, I am annoyed, by the way, it was phrased. So that's going to be an eighth. Otherwise would have been. Like I'm gonna lean into Damien territory and just say women taking over anything is a good. Everything is a good idea. Like we had our show necessary idea. We did it. We had our shot. I'm fine with this 10. Matters. A Again, anytime you give me a chance to make both of you unhappy, I'm gonna take it terrible. but I agree with that sentiment, you know, We? In charge of things. You can argue with the results. Why don't we women in charge with the same ratios the next 10 days? And then, we'll come back and that's called CFA analysis people. That's what you do. When you pass the CFA, you realize, like, I need a benchmark. How do I analyze this thing? We just did it. I'm going to put on my that's an actual that's it. I'm gonna put on my mysterious hat for a second here, you have. I live. I literally think, as, I'm always say, I literally think that this is our only hope. Maybe as a species, it putting women in control. I think it's our Our Only Hope. Literally not figuratively. Not figurative. All right. Here's the headline, ESG not woke capitalism or greenwashing, but an opportunity for employee voice. I don't know what the hell that means. But I wanted to see if our ESG experts could weigh in, on this. What do you think, Matt? You're shaking your head already, it's a five. Because what does that? What is that? What is that? I don't know what that, what is that? Explain, that we are the problem with the relief for stakeholder capitalism. The acronym means already we're now we're using the acronym to describe another thing that we don't understand. Just stop it. All right. I think that. I'm also I think I'm gonna give it a four. I'm gonna take it one step further and go. Say that ESG is not an opportunity for employee voice. It's an opportunity for corporate greenwashing. Like I just it is literally right opportunity for people at the top to be like, oh we can just sprinkle ESG in a couple of our, you know, annual reports and go. Yay! We did it, it's not MSG. Emma, its ESG. Matt or sag is, is she an opportunity for employee voice? What do you think? Yeah. That sounds like green washer. It sounds like an ESG headline, you'd see in like People magazine. Yeah. I don't think he's very fond of it. That's from the the Aspen Institute business and Society program. Get out. I think, I think you want to give us a quick score in that one, Matt. Oh, we do around up here. So and finally, to wrap up our wonderful. Good game of July 14th. 2022 with our friends Desperate Hours in charlotteville. Here's the headline. Why working less hours and sleeping longer can reduce carbon Footprints and fight climate change. Matt, that might be your solution to get water back at in. California is just a sleep, just go to bed. Yes, part of a movement called degrowth. The degrowth movement. I've never heard of it. Until today, I'm very excited about a long movement, but I would say, well, welcome, welcome to the party. You just wake up. You must sleeping longer. Hours is a 10, is there a way to argue against us? Everybody should actually think it's brilliant. I mean, I it's 10. Yeah I mean just make less shitt by going to bed more often. Could solve a lot of our ESG woes. Yeah, it's great. I agree. This is a 10 working. Less hours means you're happier. Sleeping longer means you're happier, which means There are tone and levels are higher and you don't need to like buy stuff to fill that. I need math. It's just a 10, there's the best they didn't say happier, they just said you know, destroy the planet less our fantasy expert matter or Seguin please on our last headline. What do you think about this one? oh, does it go to 11 laziness late? Sloth and lazy. Oh, I love everything. I said. Yeah, let's wrap up. I was just gonna say that, but the growth movement I'm going to plug my podcast, please. I talked to mister, but I talked to a guy who's An economist of French Economist Timothy buddy. He's actually, he's actually at the University of London, Sweden. He's an expert on degrowth and I talked to him last week and it's currently up on the podcast. If you want to learn more about tea growth, I do look up that to this sustainable sustainability story podcast, there's great, but yes, part part of that part of that is using less working less. Like, Iceland has started a program where they have a four-day Work Week. People are paid the same. I think London is starting something similar. I think New Zealand has done something similar so expect to see more about that and everyone who inspires to be two things, two things which which are first of all, you should get Matt's podcast. This is sustainability story because I was on it so it has to be good. That's what everyone that is. The bar that we're talking about, it's really high second. Free float. We're actually to a Six-Day work week so Emma and Damien don't get any ideas. Oh that's it. What's our final scores are we just is our most. Let's just say the most positive person of the week is our very own. Well, not our very own man or sack he wouldn't ever join us who comes in a 6.2 which is closely Trail by, Matt mascardi 5.9 and as usual our most depressed, as always ml lurking 5.4. Yeah. So I like it a big thanks to Matt or secular us. Um, from the CFA Institute, go check out their podcast. His podcast is sustainability story. You can get sustainability stories. They were talking at experts. Actual experts not like we talked to um, but they get real experts. That's Emma lurking and Damien Raul us and our fantasy expert, Matt, or sag. I was Matt McCarty. We are free float media. We'll be back at you tomorrow. To wrap up the week. Good. Bye.
