Welcome everybody. Live from room 715 at the Westley. Calgary downtown tapestry collection by Hilton. Why do hotels near themselves that it makes no sense. I'm gonna say that again, that was That's the name of the hotel. The West League Calgary downtown comma tapestry collection, by Hilton. I mean, what is that? It's a mouthfuls. What it is. That's not even know where you're going. That's in Calgary Alberta. It's a big old fat. Realists edition of business pants. Friday. No no data Queen today. Hmm. Why are you clapping for that? The data Queen is busy in the data. Sometimes I just don't want her around Me, featuring irritating, Emma lurking in our special guest this week. A goodly version of esg's. Favorite a hole, Matt McCarthy. A hole. Is it a thing? Yeah. Oh I'm deaf. I actually of all the monikers you pick for me? That one is a full Candor. Yes. She's favorite. Oh, I worked with Matt Emma at an actual company where we were the bosses he sort of Okay, I'm going to be okay. How do I say this? You sort of were known, you're more known as a pariah than an a-hole. I don't know if anyone ever called you. I was a diva. I was a diva. Yeah. I never heard the word Diva being used. I like the word Diva for me. I got on on an actual. This is not a fabrication is not a joke for an exaggeration on an actual performance review. It was written that I was a drain on morale and that I was a diva. We talked about this before and maybe this is why we're a good combination because I actually got into performance you that I was good for morale and I know that sounds corny. And Emma probably does not believe it. No, that means we're average for moral to get that Fairview. I I would always make an effort to see I, you don't know me in an office setting. I was I was doing everything I could to avoid working. So I was everywhere. That's true. Chatting with you hear that about you. I would talk to the people that nobody even wanted to get close to. Like I was that guy and I and you people know who you are, but I would be talking to them. I apparently was draining them around. You were just hiding in a corner. I remember your desk, and Boston, you're hiding. You're hiding. They put me in the farthest back corner because I was so loud. Yeah, well, there you go. I believe that. Who's ready? Ready. Oh, we got story of the week. We got good list of the week as holy as the week. We have irritating UPS the week with the great ml lurking and we do we have something from our fancy expert. Greg Larkin. He's gonna we do punks and Pinstripes, very own. Greg Larkin is gonna find this out today. Yes, he gave us a nice long rant about Elon Musk and Tesla and he's and stuff, he's like yeah. Oh yeah. So he's gonna sign us out for one. All right, I mean, let's do it. Let's do five minutes. Oh, she's reading my mind. Here We Go. Go store the week. Uh, obviously Twitter versus musk. It's awesome. The story of the week, but this one's this week is particularly good. Twitter is now suing Elon Musk because Elon Musk trying to get out of the deal. I just I got to read this incredible quote from the lawyers from Twitter. This does it all rarely do our lawyers able to summarize something so beautifully but here we go. Ready? Ready. Mm-hmm. Having mounted a public spectacle to put Twitter in play and having proposed and then signed a seller friendly merger agreement musk, apparently believes that he Unlike every other party subject to Delaware, contract law is free to change his mind trash, the company disrupt its operations, destroys stockholder value, and walk away. Look, I don't it's a great. Yeah. How do you equivalent with that? Oh, if you've have you read the entire like looks lawsuit from Twitter, I've seen a good portion of it. It is so good. Yeah, well look, it is so good. The greatest thing about this is the, a lot of it is his own tweet. Yeah. On the, on the very platform. Being used against him because he's doing everything he promised not to do, which is essentially trash the company constantly. Yeah, they put a screenshot in the lawsuit of a poop emoji. It's so good. It's so good. I don't even know to be honest. Like I remember. Someone from the neighborhood. A lawyer telling me that the one reason why he wasn't overly worried about Donald Trump becoming president is because he was such a moron that he had no ability to navigate. DC, because, you know, there's There, there's such a complicated legal structure to getting things done in that City that he would have no idea how to do any of it and he was proved right. I mean, yes, his personality is pretty much ruined America, but he wasn't able to pass much legislation because he was just a complete and utter moron and nobody liked him and it's to me it's the same with Elon like I almost just can't look at that law. So I almost can't believe what he was thinking. I just don't understand. I just don't get it. Like he couldn't control himself to constantly crap on the company. He was trying to buy when they told him explicitly. If you do that you're screwed essentially. Right? I just unbelievable. It's lovely. It's I love it. It's lovely. All right, that's the first story of the week Twitter versus must second. Matt's not too impressed with this, but I'm gonna give it billing in my story, that webberley Okay, what happened 124,000 confidential documents leaked to the guardian over there in the UK? All about how heinous and horrible Uber is or was I'm gonna say, is Because, as we pointed out here, a lot of the leadership is intact from that time, despite them, you know, sacrificing the horrible bro, culture, dude. Travis kalanick. So, that's number two story, uberly. Sacrificing that's a strong way to say that. Yeah, because he walked away with a billion and a half dollars. He's cashed out for several billion dollars, waiting for that. I want to be free float sacrifice. Yeah, sacrifice me, please remember three a different kind of data is introduced to the world. That would be spaced data. Yeah, the first batch of James Webb, Space Telescope telescope images and data released by NASA this week. So, this is a, I know what, you know, it's hard to fit this into our world, but I'm going to buy saying We always ask for all companies to disclose their data. It's the only way we can. Get better at this. Only way we can create new stories. It'll help our product. so, this counts NASA's giving us data. Like, I love the fact that tells us dated I'd like that space disclosure is the next Frontier. I'm all about demanding more data from planets exoplanets. And finally, I'm despite I'm a trying to tarnish the telescope. It's, it's actually not a depressing story of the week. Know, I love my number four story is prime day except you know, nobody cares, so it's not gonna win. Nobody cares. Know he cares? It's dope, right? Like we accomplished something as a race that that humans finally don't care about prime day. Is that good. No I think we don't care about prime day. Oh no I don't I really think it's lost its luster and maybe that's all of Andy Jesse getting terrible name criticized because people don't like the deals but I think well still or order a whole bunch they sold. Let's look at this way. I saw headline today that said that they sold 300 million items on Prime day. That's 100 million. I think every American I think Christians should be mad. I think Prime day is really Christmas in July, so I think anyone who was against Prime days actually against Jesus. He's like Christian. I agree. And finally, the 5th story of the week. This is a local one. This is for me only employees at a bitter for Starbucks. Biddeford, is a, is a city right here on the coast right? South of Portland employees in a bitter for Starbucks shop. Have voted to unionized that's for you. Emma to unionize. There you go. Come on. That's definitely not the story. That's store 100. I know Emma's gonna crap on this by telling me how many Starbucks stores are, that's number 192 192. Starbucks cafes have unionized. I know, Matt shaking his head but it's cool. Okay, I wasn't gonna crap on that. What I was gonna crap on, is you calling whatever that place is a city? Because if it's in Maine, have you been to Maine? Like we're small here. I'm sorry. I'm so you're so you're so you're so like Arnold Schwarzenegger down there in New York. I don't care. But listing this as one of the stories of the week. Yeah. Is a little like listing the fact that they repave the road and West Hartford Connecticut as a story of the week himself matters for me. Okay, on fire. I didn't realize, it's just a masturbation vote. We just I think three stories are all contenders here, Twitter versus musk, Uber. And I, I'm really torn. Um, so I'm gonna let him go first. It's not spaced data. Defense companies are making your telescope's FYI and Prime day. No, that's Town City Starbucks know. and, you talk a bit of for the city or town, it's Look up the population and then you can tell me, Well know there was an actual. There's actually a definition of a town and City. Yeah, I know. West, Hartford fun fact is a city. It's a Biddeford City. A bit of her, okay. I think I have to go Twitter musk. Even though I really was trying to find a reason to go for the Uber leak. But I just can't, I cannot think of a reason why the Twitter versus most stories not bigger, especially given the context. That as we said earlier this week, it is so five years ago, if you know, you know, There's a plug to Biddeford. Food and Wine magazine. This year highlights Biddeford as a small city with a big food scene in his list of America's Next Great Food Cities. So there you go. They use the word City twice, right there in that one, just because it's in the name doesn't make food and wine. Thank you food and wine. Something made up, 12% City. Congratulations. Let's just call it the two nouns that we cover food wine. Okay, that's so Twitter versus Musk. Yeah, I'm torn between Twitter musk, simply because of Twitter's lawsuit and Emma. I you can disparage space data. All you want. Did you look at the pictures? Did you even look at this? The five galaxies colliding, the baby Stars being born with the galaxy in the background. I saw it. We're I mean like honestly, as a story of the week, go, right poop emojis pale in comparison to looking up and knowing that five galaxies galaxies trillions of stars galaxies colliding. So, but if you squint those houses look like Emoji. Ready? This is why. It's not my story. The real reason is because when I think about space, I think about space travel. I think about the inevitable capacity of mankind to ruin space as well, and spend money going to space. The commercially going to space instead of like saving the planet or on. So I just it's not gonna happen. You want to know why propaganda? Matt, you want to know why it's not gonna happen. It's not gonna happen because rockets falling out of the sky. In the next 10 years you're gonna kill us all and you discovered only one in 10. Only one chance that that you can get hit by a rocket falling out of the sky. I'm gonna go space data. Oh, because I'm tired of Twitter and musk. Everybody talks about Twitter and musk and NASA needs. Some love this place. It funded everything they fund everything, like you want something cool, you go to NASA. These are the some of the smartest people in, on our planet. Yeah. And the smartest people on our planet or signing contracts with Elon Musk to develop their shit. It's not their fault that the government won't fund them properly. Keep arguing. So I can decide how to break this tie. You're Gonna Go a bit of food because it's a city benefited. Now, I don't care about a bit of it. I got to go. I'm gonna go with our friend, Matt or sag. Oh, my son is I just saw that his podcast was voted. Top 30 best Corporate social responsibility podcasts. Yeah. Where where now? There's not going down this road before you praise. Shut it up or vote. I'm gonna go with my new best friend. Matt Oracle, who Is sitting in this room with me right now as we speak. and say that this solder musk's story is just it's Just too good. I mean wait. So you're going with me? Yeah, because it's, I actually was tired of the story but Now that I think of the spectacle of how musk could really get dragged in this, I, I did make some loose prediction a while ago that this whole thing was gonna slowly ruin musk. So I I don't know. I like this, I'm going with this, add on the fact that there are now jubilant lawyers involved which I know is an oxymoron but you don't get to see jubilant lawyers that much and I don't know what you're talking about. I don't even know what you a case of their careers. They know that they are set for this case that were you munch on while you're watching The Matrix? Trilogies some jubilant lawyers I don't know what you are the week Twitter coming down on us. Come on, move on. All right give me a five minute timer I'm going to do good list of the week do it. Here we go. Good list of the week. Number one this is for is this is in lieu of Ari and here's the headline. He throw him on poses capacity cap to secure better more reliable summer Journeys. That's right. No more of this headline, which is Delta flew a plane with just luggage from Heathrow to the US that houses. We've got 1000 bags, a thousand bags. They fill the plane with bags and incented over the ocean, no more of that because we're capping capacity at Heathrow anytime you although Emirates you know Airlines just said they're not they're not listening how to comply. How many of those bags before full of just like free t-shirts to get a Fenway Park like shut out of a cannon. I'm hoping that it is the T-shirt cannon on there. Just like a shipment of t-shirt cannons. So that's good. At least number one. That requires no other context, no less flights out of Heathrow that's just great option. Number two, Cost goes CEOs, one word answer to whether he would raise the price of Hot Dog, quote know. Yeah, that's great. The seat. Unlike paragraph wall over Twitter, this is a CEO. Who is empowered, right? This is the decisive. Up. Taking it. Taking action. Where action deserve Matt, why did you pick that? I don't understand this. Why is this good? I got it. I liked it for two reasons. Go ahead. First of all, hot dogs are basically wrap meat. I don't, and it shouldn't be that expensive. So I I'm in full agreement that it shouldn't be that expensive number two, I like that. There's no Exposition here, there's no long diatribe where the Costco CEO is trying to make us think that they're super smart and like, oh we've considered the price of inflation and we have our supply chain is strong. We don't force see, you know, a price increase at this time. No, it's just, no next question. Let me ask you this. Man is is not raising the price of hot dogs. Would that be considered a woke move or an anti-walk move? Which campus the It's an anti anti grid. And number three, your number three, option for a good list of the week is planting trees. These are stories. This is a very re from these are but these are story. It's back planting trees is back. Yeah, these are stories from just this week. Can planting a trillion trees, save the world in the New York Times. No, green push sees 100,000 trees planted in County. This is leicestershire County city council in the UK, planted more than 100,000 trees over the past year to make it Greener and they've pledged 700,000. More in the coming years, this is one County. Come on, new tree. Planting to increase biodiversity and brighten. What, you know, I'm just telling you, this is where the story came from the council agreed, to plant a thousands of trees every year. And this is part of their commitment to tackling both climate change and biodiversity, this this Choice. Yeah, it is. And the last one was I planted a giant sequoia tree and offset the carbon footprint of mine higher life. How do you plant a giant security? I love to do that. How do you do that? I would see put it in the ground. Water it sometimes. Okay. I just, but In the quote in the article is crucially when it comes to Nature's carbon capture. No, other tree comes close. Sequoias. Sequester more carbon than any other species. Everybody go in your backyard. Oh, they're massive. Put a sequoia seed done. Well life, can they grow in the east coast sequoias? They planted this in like it wasn't on the west coast. It was like, it was it was somewhere like bizarre. I, I'm trying to remember exactly where it was Hell's Kitchen. It was in the UK. Okay, no. Hell's Kitchen, ah, all I'm saying is tree planting his back and that's a good thing. Those are my options, this one's so easy. I mean, I don't have to talk a lot very long go for me. This one's easy, go for it. Look. He throw, I love you forever. I mean, just just yelling at everyone. Just like scolding everyone. And again, this is the, this is the, the company, the corporation that stands to, to make more money by having more passengers, and they're just like enough people. Like, you're, you just, this is why I put the travel industry in the drugs category, so people were just addicted to nonsense. Like it's, it's enough travel, it's enough, get over yourself, I love that, I love Heathrow and I love that Matt had a very UK bent today. It's making us very International. We need to sell our everywhere even in the UK and the UK. Yeah, my vote. I like I'm also gonna go Heathrow because while I do like the Costco, hot dog headline, it's very, I'm having a very like British sitcom me Moment In My Head about the Heathrow thing because it's it feels very it feels very Brit to me feels very like, this is all out of order. This is unacceptable. We are buttoned up people who wait in lines in an orderly way and you can't be here too much and I like that. Speaking of speaking of button up, Brit, I was looking at the very young and beautiful matte or sag his picture on LinkedIn. He looks like a good old comedy act like a old British comedy actor to me. That's, he should have Matt didn't realize that by joining us yesterday, if you haven't already show you yesterday. He's basically gonna feature every day talking about his old beautiful, that's fine. Image on LinkedIn. I'm not talking about the current map. I won't talk about the current. Alright, keep going. That's the week. He's good. Layers of the week Heathrow. No more flights. Keep us going man. Who's the asshole? All right, holy is let's do ass all the week, give me five minutes. Boo asshole the week. Number one, Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney, General more, depressed. Yeah, if you felt good for a second, let's kill it. Texas. Sues to block Biden from requiring doctors to provide abortions in medical emergencies. Yep, he actually said that the Biden Administration seeks to transform every emergency room in the country into a walk-in abortion clinic because that's happening asshole. He butted in, in the middle of a transgender, youth case, where he tried to show up at court and insert himself and had to be tossed out by the judge say this, because he was just trying to make some political point. In fact, the judge said that or The other attorney said, the Attorney General is no business. Being in this case and tried to push his way into satisfy a political interests, not a legal one. There's no legal. Cause he also in the past few months sent letter to the SEC on the carbon rules, obviously launched in investigation against Twitter for their body. Is this is not stupid. Now, Kenny, this is not this week though, right? Know. But this is just in a crude asshole of the over the last. Can you imagine this watching an investigation against Twitter for allegedly misreporting, fake? I mean, can you imagine I can't even tell your state. Is launching an investigation. I mean, what the what is and it was all because Elon called them up and there's all things, right? And and then there's of course the anti-woke laws which he penned in Texas where they can't so Ken PacSun, Congratulations on just persistent as Holiness. Like, just, you want everyone dead in your state? I'm really excited for you. Except for Twitter, you want to survive with no Bots. Number two assholes a week. Yeah, I'm gonna alternate here between real assholes and then kind of joke assholes. This one's really simple. You don't have to tell us, it's a joke. Well, it's not like a joke, joke. It's still an asshole. The asshole is sex. Wait, because here this is. Yes, here's that. Here's the headline world population to reach 8 billion on November 15th. United Nations says, they know the job very date the day. Yeah, they know the day, stop it. Stop procreating. Elon if you're listening, stop put to be fair, creating anyone that oh, can I just that's just because Emma references. It here's a headline today in the news Elon musk's 76 year old dad says he's had another child with his 35 year old stepdaughter. And his quote is the only thing we are on earth is to is to reproduce. The only thing we are on Earth for is to repent, but yeah, that quote sucks but they're not wrong. The musks, I mean isn't that sort of the meaning of life for, for all of the species is just to keep To stay alive to keep going. If you want to be really. So you want to be over your your your done. All. So you have a lot of options, not the girl you raise from when she was four years old. I'm not getting into that. Basically, I'm not getting into that line. Yeah, stop it. I mean, and speaking of Elon my number three asshole, Is not Elon but it's Elon. Musk's lawyer Alex Spyro. Yeah. He's the guy who won, Elon the pedo case lawsuit, the pedo guy lawsuit, which now actually seems quaint and feels like Elon should have lost that given what's happened since then, where we thought he was just a regular old crazy person. Mm-hmm. Now, it feels like he's actually sort of semi like an autocratic dictator weird. There's something weird going on, right? And this guy is behind. Elon getting worse starts with winning a case where he calls someone a pedo guy and wins. Yeah, how he won the falsely call someone a pedo guy. If he was actually at what point? Yes, at what point? Do you as a lawyer? Is it your responsibility say? You know what? I can't, I can't defend you. You, you're like future Lex Luthor. You might not be it quite yet now. But I can see this coming and I definitely don't want my name next to your name on stuff so I'm nominating Alex Spiro. And my final. Yeah, asshole. The week, four options here are, and stick with me for a second because Damien, you're gonna say, I don't understand what's happening. Yeah, I said that all the time. Yeah, I know goats. Oh, the sacrificial lamb is a saying. But for thousands of years, it was either a lamb or a goat. That was sacrificed on Passover. Yes, this is correct. Um, Jesus is called the Lamb of God, and then all the sudden, everything's like sacrificial land. But goats get away with it. Yeah, and then I saw this headline this week agrawal willing to be Twitter, sacrificial, lamb, and musk deal. Ft reports. Yeah. Can we just can we call him a sacrificial goat? Can you be a goat? Like why do lambs? Why is it? Why did goats get away with this? You're an asshole. You goat. You should be sacrificed, too. And I'll say another thing, you know, according to our data, Prague is not the most sacrificial goat. We looked, I looked through Global influence scores well US influence scores, all of the directors in the United States. And I looked at how influential they are relative to each other, these influencers scores, we make them. So these this is the stats that we have here, the CEO in the US with the lowest influence score relative to everyone else is and she should be the sacrificial goat and it is a she it's Stephanie McMahon the daughter of Vince McMahon and CEO of the World Wrestling Entertainment Company. She has the lowest influence of any because, you know, in the United States. So there's still gonna be okay, but what is your dad thing? Exactly. I mean, he had to leave because he sexually harassed everyone in a pool and four different women, but shouldn't she actually be the sacrificial goat in that case, you know, he's talking about Emma, I don't know, I don't know. I think, I told you he would say, I don't know what you're talking about your options, I don't help me out. Um, I That first one is just so tough. Like I was getting right to the voting. I like it. Yeah I don't know I just the I hate that lawyer too. That lawyer sucks. He's a Topps graduate. Yeah, ew gross. Um, he also represented Julian Edelman former Patriots wide receiver great Julian Edelman. Oh yeah. Because you know I trust that NFL players are doing great stuff all the time. And yeah, no. There's just nothing as holy or to me than the stupid Texas Attorney General, I can't even talk about it anymore. This is okay. You're voting for that. I get the tough one for me because I guess it does apply to all this stuff. Yeah. The abortion story does apply to us because we're covering how corporations are reacting to it. I hate to. Yeah even Beyond like the of course the abortion stuff is the bulk of it but even connecting it to our world is not hard like the last headline, their investigating Twitter, why right? But that's but that's cheap. Matt, you know, if this was a court case, I wouldn't let Matt that's not admissible evidence, Matt because that's not part of story of the week you're leading Emma. Like, giving her that happened months ago. That's what every lawyer. Good lawyer, I know. But I set you up so that I convinced you watch a lot of Court. Dramas on TV, it's a trick, right? Like you say it out loud to the jury hears it, but then they overrule it and it's not admissible as evidence, but the jury heard you say. Yeah, they can't on here hate that. Come on, it gets stricken from the record, from the record who looks at the record where they just cross it out on a piece of paper. For that reason, I'm not going to vote for Ken packs because I think Matt I was cheating there around the sex thing. I don't know how I feel about. World Cup. If you combine the sex thing with the abortion thing. Yeah. Where literally we are we're outlining abortion in this country and we need to stop procreating, right? Like he was because you referenced Jesus and Jesus was born. Without any sex being involved so I'm already confused. I don't know what's going on. So let's just scrap that one. And by the way, hasn't it? Un also said that we're going to like we're gonna hit Peak population around 2100. Yeah. Isn't it actually supposed to Crest eventually? Yes. Yes, I know exactly. All gonna die. Okay. Looks good though, right? Elon musk's lawyer. Didn't know. Is he representing musk, in this case with Twitter? He's the Twitter case. Yeah, he's the lead bold. He's the, he's the court lawyer. Did he win the pedo guy lost? It? That is troubling to me. Didn't he say? Against one of the heroes from the One of the guys who helped rescue the miners yes or look what, I just think the point should be we shouldn't be in a place where you can call anybody anything you want all the time and have incredibly High Price Lawyers bail you out of being able to say that and simultaneously like limit our ability to use like say ESG is a scam, right? Like ESG, why is ESG opinion different from your stupid opinion? That that guy was a pedo guy and you're making a joke, the difference is you have incredibly high price lawyer who's willing to take any amount of money to defend you? I'm gonna I was gonna goats believe it or not because I like that. We finally yeah, go go. You finally sure. You know what? I'm just gonna go go. It's because you did you shoehorned a plug for our data influencer data? And I think it's amazing that our data does reflect that the daughter Of of the former CEO has no influence over her board and not that we anecdotally are saying this because anecdotally, of course, of course, she's gonna have no influence. But there are data right here, free flow. Our data, can back that up with an actual methodology. It's not just matte like, saying that Stephanie McMahon has no, dude, I think that's cool. Actually, and I know I'm nerding out and really I'm just begging for people. I was actually shocked that she was at the bar. I figured it would be like the CEO of some unknown like small garage company. Yeah, but it's not it's like, you know, Stephanie McMahon. Yes, wrestling. So I'm gonna go with that one because you, you hit a lot of the things that I like the best there. I'm gonna go. So you can break the tie goats and it's a weird. So let's go. It's all the way. Go to the asshole. They got to wait with it for way too long. Go to the ass, go to give, Matt some credit Emma for just figuring out how to how a narrative around goats. Look, I managed to get Prague Agarwal Goats and lambs, and our data in one story, I think. But I do want to say, officially object to this over overall, because I do love goats, they're wonderful little creatures. I don't want them to die. All right. That's done. Now, everything is the week with the great ml. Lurking put a timer off because you wrote a lot of stuff. Um, So as much as I would love to put a timer at something that I'm currently technologically unable to do right now, which is great because I don't need a timer. I'm going to talk for as long as I want. Thank you. Number one. Delta Airlines, CEO says, the recent flight. Chaos is his number one challenge. so, This heading enough on its own. And my opinion. No, shit. The insanity of the air travel industry right now or being covered by every news Outlet 24/7. Is your number one challenge? Thank you. It's probably your fault to know friends. I mean, you the way they drum up demand for travel is just obnoxious. Yeah, but anyway, I don't know me. How dare you So the CEO said this following stupid statement, which is that they were going through a rough patch, a function of the enormous surge in demand and that they didn't do as good as we could, which is a direct that's verbatim quote, that the CEO said they do was good as we do good. Is that good? Yeah, that is that is the truth better than no. It's more interesting than no. No it's not more interesting than but that's not all. There's a supplemental irritating headline. To this irritating headline, which is Delta CEO. Says he doesn't regret encouraging 2,000 Pilots to retire during the pandemic. I love. This, is this. Oh, this part of the same story know. There are two different stories, does he? But does he connect them? Oh, yeah, I don't think so. I love that. What a dope. They're both businesses inside her headlines. And so the background on that is that in 2020 when travel demand was going down, clearly Delta does not have a handle on supply and demand. This is an issue for them. Delta offered incentives for Pilots for senior Pirates, Pilots to take early retirement in June of 2020. So, to summarize here just for a second one. Yeah, there was an entire article dedicated to the CEOs mere acknowledgment of the air travel to buckle two. Yeah. And can we name him Ed Bastian Eddie? Um, too, you forced 2,000 Pilots to go into an early retirement. Three, which has now been in you in the ass because you cannot meet demand and four your customers hate you because you keep canceling their flights and losing their shit. Your employees hate you because you're treating them, like crap and they're the only one. They're the ones who really have to deal with the mess that you made in six. Now you're saying that you don't regret a major contributing factor to the crisis that's currently making people's lives health. Thank you. He said we didn't do so good, we didn't do as good as we could, didn't do as good as also worth mentioning that Delta got 5.4 billion in the airline bailout during coronavirus 5.4 billion. And that was after spending all of their cash on stock BuyBacks before the coronavirus bailout. So here, here's your sequence of events. Spend all your money, satisfying, your paying your Executives, and satisfying, your shareholders, Lose all your money because you can't fly anymore. Ask the government and taxpayers for help. Force retire all your Pilots. Turn back on your airline and can't actually fly because you don't have any Pilots anymore. How about that? Is not quite the sequence, not predicting the pent-up demand of travel after the. Oh, I mean that's the dopiest thing. I think I left out from this call that he was making with investors was just they were like yeah you know people delayed their weddings. So for like the next two years they're gonna be a lot of weddings. It's like basically what he said. It was crazy. Anyway, he just realized. Yeah, just realized just to him. Okay. Like you're eating is the week and see you find the smartest technologists and make them CEO Silicon Valley investor on recent says, firstly. That's yeah, that's the worst. It's just a no, because he's basically, Saying that there are not enough executive at large or sorry, they're not enough Executives of large companies, who understand the technology, they're selling developing well enough, which would be fair, but he then used Elon Musk as his soul example, and this is what he said, he said the engineers working on self-driving. Cars are the most important people at Tesla Elon talks about them all the time. They're basically the leaders of the company. The people working on stuff at traditional original equipment. Manufacturers are not what I just heard was I was at Elon Mr. I dropped out of my PhD program, a couple days in is the CEO while all these brilliant Engineers who are supposedly the leaders of the company are not at all, the leaders of the company. So aside from the fact that knowing how to run a major corporation and knowing how to build the next piece of disruptive, technology are two completely different. Skillsets, his example doesn't even work. It just really managed to piss me off today. I'm just I'm a little tired of the Elon success story story. It's like he was forced out of PayPal. Now, you're saying bought he bought Tesla, he built it on subsidies. He's a good. It's not to take away from the fact that he's smarter than I am at and knows more things than I do. It's a low barrier entry. But yeah, well, I'm not creating High bars, I'm creating low bars. On purpose, but he's failed up. And we said that over and over again, not to mention the long list of issues at Tesla, including not, including like self-driving cars that simply aren't working, despite promises, don't self-drive. They're recently, someone run over. There's recently, someone is a lawsuit. So someone was killed and Elon basically admitted that the fall of Tesla. Yeah, there are. There are plants closing because of operational problems. There's a rocket SpaceX that just exploded. That Elon is admitting is bad news. Yeah, he doesn't actually seem to be getting a lot of this, right? And I can't imagine what's distracting him. No, no no, no. I don't know. All right. And number one. Okay. Well before you move on though, can I just say the irony of this story to me? Is that Twitter did a point there, probably their best engineer to the CEO role. Let's go all, and that doesn't seem to be going. Well, that's all I'm gonna say. I mean, clearly lacked any kind of leadership, he should have been a technology. Okay. All right. Number three. 30% of women say. They don't know enough to start investing. Here's how they can get started. So Fortune was really my news Outlet of the day today, my entire list today was almost all fortune. And I switched out the last minute for Business Insider because that's story was horrible to me, but this is the only Fortune story that made me want to have a Stern conversation with whoever is vetting these stories because I've, yeah, I record that this headline seems benign enough. But yeah, I'm sorry, this is a stupid thing I've ever read. I have never read anything stupider than this headline in the article that followed what's here, because nowhere in this article does it mention that 90% of men don't know enough to start investing but they wouldn't. Anyway, is that true or you making them so like it's common sense. Like I don't, I don't know, I shouldn't I don't know if a certain investing its they do it anyway with the blind confidence of being born with unearned privilege like that. Yeah, yeah. No one knows enough to start investing. Of course not. 30% of women. Imagine just like to gamble. That's why they think that no one will start investing. Yeah. Here are some other reasons. This headline is just going on the yelling. I just did. We have Google? We've had Google for a while. If you Duff about investing. You can use Google and women are not so dumb that they don't know how to use. Google. Wait, I can contradict you there. I'm a I just read that gen Z. Actually uses Tick Tock and Instagram to search for things now more than Google. So I don't know what you're talking about with Google. Do you know what? Google is, you know? I'm forgetting. It's like yeah, so yeah, stop it. But so there's that. And then these are the four bullets. These are the verbatim four bullets at this article used to give the 30% of women, who don't know enough to start investing, advice one, start early and be consistent. Too plan for retirement needs three. Oh, contribute to retirement plans and four ask questions and share knowledge. That is what they said. Those were the four main points early because this is a plan for retirement needs. Wait tribute to our timer. We just two and three of the same plan. For first of all, it's not that they're the same. That's the problem to me. It's the answer to you don't know enough about investing, here's where to start is invest. Basic contribute to a retirement plan is just investing. So you don't know enough and the answer is you should put some money in an investment. That's are you secretly trying to work for Fortune? Magazine is, are you like hoping that they're gonna reach out and someone better right? The ship clearly. Because what the hell is? This did a man or woman? Write this article, that's the question. And that's the kicker isn't it? Because you if it feels like someone poorly mansplained, something to you. But unfortunately a woman a woman did write that article because they can't get away with having a man with his article anymore. Like you just have a woman, write it. And and then when you make fun of it, you're making fun of a woman giving other women advice and like it's it's safe territory for Fortune, congrats to Fortune for, for which is why I want to have the aforementioned Stern conversation with whoever is vetting these articles. I think you should just write your own article and, and response. Are you? Yeah, and I think you just write your own article and submitted as an op-ed to Fortune and B, and done and do you, you know, 30% of women, don't say, they know enough to start investing and your op-ed is like, they do know enough. You need to know nothing. Oh, just Buying it. Buying an S&P 500 ETF takes approximately zero research. Correct. Those are my stories. Those are my thank you. Emma Larkin. Matt, you got, you got a strong. I can't pick Delta and I can't pick Delta because it's so funny it's not irritating to me. It's comedy like he doesn't regret encouraging 2000. Pilots to retire. I don't understand. Yeah I like that his number one challenge is his job which is flying planes and and all of the things he's done up till now makes it harder for him to do his job. It will all his choices. Now makes it harder for him to do his job. And the quote is fantastic, didn't do as good as we could. Like, he's a Doctor Seuss, character. I can't get over. He did not predict a surge in trouble. I just can't get over that. I mean, that's just like, I don't know. That's just like seriously. The easiest part of his job is is that they must have been planning for once. The pandemic restrictions are over people are gonna go crazy. Traveling also has he not know that. Imagine me seeing these two headlines separately because I did see them in the correct order. I saw number one Challenge and then I saw doesn't regret. Encouraging 2000. Pyle was to retire. I could not believe, but that's not Matt's vote. Yeah, it's not my vote. Um, I think Marc Andreessen, saying things that Marc Andreessen says, isn't irritating. This is just in, on brand new so that leaves me with fortune and 30% of women because I do have look. I spent a lot of time while I was at the mothership at msci, as a quasi Mentor, not nothing official, but like there were Analysts who I worked with one on one for a really long time, some of whom were women. And I used to always say things like stop apologizing, just write what you think. Like, you're an analyst, you're smarter than I am. Just do it and I used to say things like that all the time and this is exactly why because your peppered with things like you're not good enough to do with anything. I am a white Upper-class male, we do not have that built in us. We literally go out into the world and think nothing is impossible for me to do even when I know zero about it. So I don't, I there's like this mental barrier that keeps getting reinforced by stupid articles in fortune and that is the irritating part. Yeah. So I'm gonna go with that. Yeah. I I hardly agree. I mostly going for this one, because it woke Emma up normally, like, yeah, I know really the night away, like I just feel like tired and but this one, mmm, I really I love when you get energized by something, so that's the reason why. So, condescending don't condescend to me Fortune, don't you dare? Because I am that the part of the 30% of women who says that they don't know enough to start investing, but the truth is that I have spent at least six to 10 hours of my life, trying to figure out my investing future. So I probably know more than the 90% of men. Yeah. What are you talking about? When we had the blowhard index show, you were very active. Very, very smart. You know, we talked and I bring that back. Yes. Let's let's now that we have our data actually, is time to bring it back. Let's bring it back and we'll bring it back as a how-to. Who's it? A little bit of a screw this up. A little bit of a tease that nobody cares about, we are in process of finalizing. Our first round of data, we are in process of working on the UI. The what do you call it? The platform are the platform. Yeah. So as soon as we're operational and we're able to integrate that into the show, and we're gonna have more video, and we can use our own data to help us learn things about these companies and invest. Well, you know, we'll bring it all back, there you Okay, irritating as weak, something about Fortune Magazine. I don't know. I wasn't, I stopped paying attention right now before we get out of here. Who won the week, anybody? Well, yeah, for once is answering the week, she's not here. She's finally feeling out this category. Yeah. All the Aries answer this week is July 21st. Can outpace population growth trees will win period. The win the life. You don't have any evidence of that though because they're still there's still widespread logging. So how do you know there's more of them they won the week just shut up and let them win. Good riddance. Sorry anyone else and then, yeah. Yeah. Um, I think the goats won the week because they got way more attention than they deserve, so congrats to them. That's I don't like that sarcasm. That's hurt. I, I love that one. I wish that was mine. Mine was Twitter's lawyers. That's the mat that's mine too. I it's yeah, it's a win for Twitter's Lord. I, you know what? I just again, I want to apply them once again for finally just simply saying what we all think, because they lawyers have a terrible way of like, there's a lot of gobbledygook they don't know how to tell a story. The, the musk's letter, their lawyers letter, to Twitter, trying to get out of the deal, was just full of nonsense, full of fake News, full, just full of bullshit. Frankly, I saw, I do hand to Twitter's lawyers for getting right to the point and really laying out a really good case. Look like walk, tell Lipton needs any more shout outs and it's like, I didn't say the walk till the world were worldwide. Best law, firms, you know by every rank, And not ours, I have no idea. But here's that when when Elon musk's lawyers, say they want out of the deal and the the things that they list is the reasons they want out of the deal, are we? We didn't get enough information. And then in the next paragraph, say, we got enough information to say that there are too many bots. So that's our problem. And then they say, you fired two Executives and you freeze hiring. Um, and that was a reason why there was a problem except that they knew that they were fired before. They signed off on it, the lawyers saw it and and the people that left they basically said Twitter, you had people quit and the people quit because Elon Musk. Yeah, thank you the purchase and they asked for things like they were complaining that they didn't get an Excel chart from Goldman Sachs. They got a PDF that was I mean literally the most ridiculous. Emma always says don't hire a lawyer from Tufts don't hire. Anyone from Tufts and then Twitter's lawyers come out with what is going to be a law school class by itself? I just think they won. They prediction predictions. Um Ari predicts that Costco's hot dog prices will go up. I think that's a terrible prediction. This guy just buy this, this nonsensical price freezing hot dogs for his basically, his whole career. So that Arya it's terrible prediction. flutter know, my prediction is Eli. I don't even know what you call this person. When your father, Has a child with his stepdaughter, which is your step sister. What is that person become to you? Like, what, what will your step? What is this? Like, I don't even know what you call that. I don't want to know. It's a horrible thing, but my prediction is that this new hybrid step daughter, sister to Elon becomes the new Vice chair of SpaceX. That's not a bad. I don't, I don't like that prediction at all. I don't like addiction doesn't mean it's not gonna happen. Thank you. My prediction is, it's revealed that Elon musk's race to Mars was entirely a way to escape his children. That's there's no other reason. He's not going to Mars for like the for Humanity. He's going to Mars because there's so many of his children here that are his children literally suing to get away from him. They're suing him to get away from him so far. Yeah. We'll just gonna be lost his asking for money. Next Direction, I thought you were going to say that his race to Mars was a way to, like, be able to take his children. In populate, Mars, I thought he was gonna use his children to populate Mars. And what a terrible idea. All right, my prediction is that Matt is going to find out some piece of information about the James Webb Telescope, that no ruins it for him. Not gonna happen. Stop at Emma. Space porn is my favorite. When Pluto images were coming in, like, five years ago. I was, I was watched them live. I was like Star Trek or whatever. I love it. I love it. It's just a groundbreaking show is she TV? Show was Star Trek. All of this stuff that we talked about. He's meaningless in the face of outer space. Outer space is so much more vast. Think about it. You had a Jewish guy running. The, the captain you had you had a Japanese American blah, blah, blah, black woman, Scottish person. Come on first, he television show, right right there. First interracial kiss. All right, there and start Trek. Emma, get over. Here. Okay I'm a plus. It's worth saying NASA is basically church for atheists, it's like that's that's what that's what I feel every time I see stuff come out and asked her Do we have anything else? Please? Greg Larkin. Yep, we do we do have Greg Larkin, that was Emma lurking. And Damian, Ross, I'm Matt mascardi, we are free float. If you like this, go subscribe and share and all that stuff, but stick around for three minutes while Greg Larkin of punks and Pinstripes lays in To Elon Musk. Here's Greg, Elon Musk announced that he's laying off, 10% of Tesla's Workforce because he quote has a super bad feeling about the economy. What economy is he talking about? Exactly. The June's job number just came out. The US created. 372,000 jobs in. June beating estimates of 250,000. Hmm. So the labor economy is still pretty robust. Maybe he's talking about the economics of the Auto industry. Well, we just analyzed where Tesla employees go, after they were let go and they didn't exactly binge on Netflix in their Star Trek pajamas all day. 100 of them were scooped up by Electric Vehicle Rivals rivian and Lucid Motors. 102 of them were hired by Amazon and apple, Google meta and Microsoft picked up another 75. so, Is Elon actually tuned into the economy, or is he just too proud to admit that he got his company into a lot of trouble? because if you were to tell the truth, He would say something like, I made a big mistake. We are underperforming. We missed our Workforce. Binged on sheep credit and I took my eye off the ball and lost sight of basic fundamentals. Like growing positive. Cash flow. So I have to let go of some of my beloved hard-working talent. I wish them luck and I think them for their service and I'm sorry. Can Elon Musk admit. His own shortcomings know. So instead he blames the economy and then he walks over to Jack dorsey's office a Twitter and demands that he fired a bunch of Twitter employees so that Elon doesn't look like he's alone. This is part of a bigger problem. There is a crisis of Silicon Valley, hubris, Billionaires of Silicon Valley. Have been the beneficiaries of 14 years of record low, interest rates that inflated the war chest of VC, firms that lowered the performance standards of companies that ipo'd that enabled masters of hype, like Elon Musk and Elizabeth Holmes to what become the richest people in the world. The truth. Is that the Silicon Valley economy as bursting companies that were not able to turn a prophet on their Innovations are not able to attract Capital. Now that interest rates are rising and VC War chests are falling. but for 15 years, these people have been told they were Geniuses rather than the lucky beneficiaries of cheap credit who were in the right place at the right time. so, please Please. See their economic forecasts for what they are. The inability of arrogant people to accept that their downturn is their fault.
