The live. From where are we room? 1209 at the ESG Four Seasons Hotel. It's Raphael warnock's. Favorite ESG Friday Show featuring are the data Queen Chessie the money with her and that's it. Alright, we have another fluid and Matti. What's up with? Matt, are you at us? You're in his chair. Where is Matt? Okay. Closer to Matt's Mike? I really want you to be, he's being a parent. He needs to do some more. He needs to do some more biohacking. I think his immunity is not not great. I've never heard of that. What? No, I haven't, what hasn't reached me? It's like, wearing a Band-Aid. It's like wearing like a ring and like watches and stuff that tell you how your body's responding to certain things and actually all his children. I mean, it would I think it could help a little bit, can't possibly hurt. It's mostly for, like, athletes and stuff, but it can't hurt yet, true, it can't hurt. That's it. That's the show for today. No Friday show. Here's what we do. Story of the week. What else? Oh, already does goodies of the week? Matt does as holiest of the week, I will quickly fill in for him. All the I'm gonna, I'm not gonna do a very good job. So I'm not feeling very angry at the moment and then Jesse the money was for will do exhausting of the week. You ready, everyone ready? Ready. Through it. All right. Come on. I like the orange. Sweatshirt or thank you. I don't see you in a lot of orange. I think it's an underappreciated color in your world. Feel like we're a flag right now because we have three solid colors. Good. All right. Ready Story. The week, I struggle with this. I don't know why. I just don't really know what's going on the world. There was a big election on Tuesday here in the United States but I didn't think it really qualified for what we do and that's the only thing I think I cared about all week. Oh, but here I so I struggled but here's what I picked first in honor of Ari. There's a story at a Peru, you know, the story at a Peru, my dad texted me. Some updates breaking news. Yes. So I included this one because I include all female leadership in our show, Peru, swore in the country's first female leader after the now, ousted president attempted coup. So, Deena bulat know you tell me Dina bolotte. So she is the first female leader of Peru and again like I said I know. It is so sad. We don't cover Paul politics here but what we do cover is this phenomenon known in the business world called the glass cliff. For phenomenon, which is when women take over, usually companies that are doing poorly where there's some shit show going on. And they, they have really had, don't have a lot of opportunities to succeed because the likelihood that she is gonna or whatever. The whoever the leader is, is going to correct. The situation quickly is, it's often that's just too much of a burden and then they get fired quickly, so they call it the glass Cliff. Anyway, that's what's going on, Peru. At least one of the story, seems big, especially in light of art, former terrible. President seemed like an a proposed story. This one. Yeah. Did you what did your dad's perspective on this party? Well my dad texted me breaking news the president shut down Congress. Yeah and then I didn't hear from him. Were you worried? He was shut down. It's funny because I actually tried. Programmers. That work in Peru and I texted them, something about, you know, our project and my message on WhatsApp. It wasn't even delivered. And I was like, oh my God, he is down. Is that possible? He think was a coincidence. I think it was a coincidence, but it was undelivered for A day which really is never happened before, right? Like it's different if they don't see it, but it just was not delivered to them. Yeah. This, it's the same occurred here. It would cause me to panic a bit. It's like a scary moment at least for the people there. I don't know. I did, that doesn't seem like something you want in your country. A president trying to disband the Congress, right? But like That I don't know. To me just feels like it's par for the course, really. I don't know. This isn't the first time it's happened in my lifetime. Yeah. Well, shut down Congress and then redo the Constitution, right? So our future here. So then my mom, so then my dad didn't text me again, then my mom was like, the president has been arrested. Like, what? And that's when I actually like, went on the new someone, okay, what is going on? But yeah, the president of Peru, he was going to be impeached. There, they had the vote to impeach him, so then he went and tried to dissolve Congress. Good idea. Shut it down and but he didn't have the support of anybody. He didn't have this support of the military which apparently is a big deal. So, Instead of doing that. They like sent a warrant out for his arrest and they threw him in jail, and I can just picture in. Like, it's a normal jail, right in the city. Just a normal jail bars. Imagine somebody else being in there being like, what are you in here for a mean president? That's Pedro. That's the man you talking about. Yeah. Christina that's the first story new female CEO in Peru. Second story. Again, this one's a little bit up out of our normal story area but I don't care. This one just fascinated me. South Korea. Is a fish. Hey look, it made it to the business news in our feed. So I look at thousands of headlines every week, so if it makes it through our filter, it's fair game. South Korea is officially making everyone a year or two younger starting. June 2023. Do you know about ages and South Korea? You know, about this anyone? Well, I, I read the article are, you know, about this idea? I heard about it like, a year ago but then I think they're going back even more now. So yes, so traditionally in South Korea, you count ages, your one when you're born right, you know, you're one and then on the, on the next January 1st, next year's day you you then aged another year so that you don't actually age on your birthday like in the west. Of course I had. Absolutely no idea about this. I feel someone ashamed, A and B, I feel let down because I would have loved to have known this because it's just so incredibly fun. This means that you can be born on December 31st and turn to the next day. I just love this. I love that. Anyway, I know this is not fit into our show at all, but I don't care. Anyway, they're getting rid of it and they're getting rid of this. They're going to, they're going to use the international method starting in June. Oh, and what are what for, what reasons like why is This something. That we have to spend. Him and energy and money potentially to change this. Like what? It's like, they're daylight savings, right? The other thing I didn't know is that you actually you have two ages there because you also have a separate age. You have a military age and a drinking age and then you have a normal age. So they actually count the military and drinking age like we do. Okay. But that your other age is different. I love that. What does that make sense? I don't know why. This makes sense. Well, it makes I guess the only reason is like, oh, okay, for for drinking in. These are drinking driving I guess military. That it would be younger or like more true. I don't know. Like that makes sense to me like someone who was born on December 30th and then his two and gets to drink two years before like that makes sense but to have two different ages. Yeah no. Whatever. Cool fun are you know how this actually does apply to us, is that this is a little bit the same as how we age people in corporate governance in our data set. When we don't know the birthday of a director or CEO, the default is January 1st, right? They age on January 1st. So this is why I picked the start. Where they doesn't matter. Plug or anything. No, no plug. The third biggest story of the week. Brits told to rethink Christmas plans with strikes set to hit flights and train travel. Got some train problems. No holiday cheer over in France. Yeah. I like this. This is a different kind of War on Christmas. No one gets to go anywhere, but that maybe that's good for Christmas. Yes. Do you think yeah. Yeah. And by the way, challenges capitalism. Well, you know, it challenges me because I will say this to CNBC, you know, Hanukkah overlaps Christmas this year. And I know at least a couple of Jewish people in England. Why? So how come no Hanukkah? Well, no, yeah, specially this year because you're right. It does overlap. Up, I was disheartened to right before this because there's a news Outlet. I read regularly because they cover ESG, it's called City Wire. And they had some report on. Something not looking at gender diversity that, these firms have the best generated University for the year and they, and they had a panel judging the firms and they asked everyone on the panel how you are. So, how are you going to celebrate Christmas this year? And it kind of it made me feel a bit depressed. I made me wish I was on the panel so that I could answer that question, but it made me feel a little depressed. I don't know. That's funny. You know, yes, sir, we came back from winter break and I asked, you know, what am I good friends? I was like, so, would you get for Christmas this year and she just stared at me. And, you know, I stared back like, are you deaf? And then the guy she's Jewish. What hurts? Yeah. What what are we don't know? Is it does it hurts like extra special? When it's like a good friend of yours? Doesn't even know enough about, right, right. That's pretty big though. It's Christmas. Yeah. Anyway, she does. By the way? No. Okay. That's the third biggest story staring thing. In the fourth story of the week is a more traditional boring story. The FTC here in America led by Lina Khan who she's a trustbuster. She's suing to block Microsoft's 70 billion dollar acquisition of active. Wow wait yeah. Didn't not approved yet. Okay, yeah, the shareholders approved it but you have to, you have to get by jump through a lot of legal hurdles. I was gonna ask what Activision Blizzard is, but I just read it in our notes. I'm yeah, gaming company. And here's the thing that kind of pressed me is that part of the problem is that they're worried that Microsoft and Xbox will own all the cool games. I don't know anything about gaming. I'm gonna talk about gaming, funny enough. I'm gonna talk about gaming and my segment. Oh you are I know nothing about it but I'm gonna talk about it. So here's one of the things that Microsoft says is that they will let games like Call of Duty, which I think is a first person, shooter war game. Right? The let Nintendo use that game for 10 years. I'm thinking I thought Nintendo was supposed to be all like fuzzy, Mario's bouncing around in a flower field. Do they really want that? Interesting. The fourth story, these are going to be hard for you to vote on, they're kind of ridiculous. I love Matt's not here to make fun of me. Yeah. This is already been a much less hostile show. Without Matt's commentary. Your story sucks. Yeah. Story of the week. Anyone want to vote? Wow. David. You really have done yourself with these during I think Peru for me, I'm gonna Peru, I always like to see someone who Isn't obviously a country favorite and thank you. Real here. The United States of America. Still has not had a female leader. I don't care how it happens. We have, we still have not. Yeah. Are you said this is sad and it, it is. But all. So it's, you know, we gotta celebrate the fact that it's their first female leader and we've got to do that. So let the record show that had like, 50 fewer years of being an actual country. And that you don't count the 10 years that they had a dictatorship. So really I don't count those Now, listen, I go with that one again. Okay? Also, because it highlights I think it's gotten a lot of us attention, because it highlights. Like a president going rogue? Yeah, exactly. Things. Yeah could happen but don't hear. Yeah, I actually like Joe Biden, but if anything were to happen to him and Kamala Harris were to take over his vice president. I I mean not that I would be, I wouldn't be happy that Joe Biden was, you know, her or dead or whatever it happened, whatever it occurred in jail, but I won't be kind of tired. You can be secretly happy. That Kamala was the president. I really actually would be. So, there you go. All right, so this like could have happened. I feel like we nearly escaped something, like this happening with her last president, so that too. I think resonates a little bit. We're on, like, damn, that's what it could have looked like. So true. That's true of the week. First female leader in Peru. Ari. What do you have for us? Good list of the week. Oh, let me give you a little. I have been doing Matt's fun things. Here we go. Oh, I could hardly hear that. Let me do a better one. Yeah. I want this one. There we go. All right. Come on. Hurry. Here we go. I got a bunch of good stuff for you today. Number one, I'm so glad Matt's not here because all he would be saying is corn syrup, corn syrup but okay. Pepsi leadership. Hear me out. Yeah, 43% of PepsiCo managers are female and full. Credit Pepsi's formal structure for leadership advancement as a key feature in identifying and nurturing female Talent. This system makes it very clear, it's transparent. This is what you need to do. This is what you need to get in order to advance the next level, right? Because I mean, they basically have a roadmap on, how do we come see you, how do you get to the Sea suite and they give you extra training and all the tools to advance in your career. Now obviously, 43% not all of them are going to make it to the c-suite but other companies take notice currently the CEOs at Dick's Sporting Goods. Hershey's Land O'Lakes and Foot Locker all spent significant portion of their careers at Pepsi Is right? Like yeah. and now the people that have left Pepsi in are leading their own, Companies are implementing this right? Way of being and nurturing Talent. So I think that's great as much as I. I love to hate Pepsi to see a program like this in place actually effective. It's hard for me to crop on although I will say that when did this start or do you know when this initiative started how many years ago? And they've produced. CEOs, not all female CEOs, but it's been in place for at least 10 years, I think. Okay. I mean, it looks like it hasn't trickled up as you said to the Sea suite at Pepsi. I mean, it's still dominated by men but, you know, maybe another five or 10 years that'll change but I still think 43% is a pretty good figure. Yeah, it is. And don't forget Pepsi CEO. Previously or Xeo. She is a board member at Amazon. Right. Okay. And she was the CEO Pepsi for several years. Great. So I really like the story. It is from Fortune. I think the magazine, there's a deep dive on it but I just love 43% of PepsiCo managers are female. That's awesome. I mean I hate that it's Pepsi but I'll still be okay with this one. Corner up. Yeah, I don't think that Pepsi is committing itself to doing for the environment, right? Like, we talked about it earlier this year, although regenerative now you're making me feel more, could it be a correlation? maybe look, that's true Jesse but but still imagine if they just replaced Pepsi with water, Oh trust me, don't make me, think about Pepsi too much. Number two on female management. Yeah number two, it's called DC goodies and I have two stories that came out. See goodies, yep. It's what I'm calling it President Joe. Biden signed the Speak Out act into law, the legislation limits to use of non-disclosure agreements relating, to workplace, sexual harassment, and assault allegations. I think we've covered that extensively on the show. And I think that's wonderful. And number two, this one's fun treasury, secretary Janet Yellen, and US Treasurer. Yeah, so this one in Malibu on Thursday, became the first two women in US history to have their signatures on American currency. You know, finally like nice Peru. Fun. So Go into. Sheer and I'm super excited. This reminded me of a story that I read years ago, a birth certificate in New York state. That the signature, I'm sure it was signed by like the Secretary of health of that state, right? But she gave birth. So she signed her child's own birth certificate and never happened in New York state before and I'm sure he doesn't happen very often, what a full circle moment. I'm trying to keep myself up, I'm like sagging into little bit of depression, the more you talk, because I keep thinking, how was it taking this long to get a woman on our bills, like, on our currency, on our on, our, what are we doing? What's happening in the world? Are you help me out? I don't know. But, why are you dragging your feet on this? But then we almost have Harriet Tubman on the 20 dollar, bill to replace that horrible racist. Killer Andrew Jackson. What happened to that? I think Trump killed it. I think. Yeah. It's all during the pandemic and but you know what? There's this company. That was selling like a stamp. like an ink pad with the stamp thing that if you do it over, I forget who's Andrew Jackson's, he's like, it turns his picture into her and do that. Does the money still work? We have we have sacred your way on the gold dollar, right coins. Don't count coins. Don't count. We had Susan B. Anthony also won the silver dollar. Yeah that's true but I want so. So women can only be on coins is what nobody believes, which sucks to people hate coins. Right. All right, and then number three oh this might depress you even more. So this is a story about the worst of the digital age when Tech meets misogyny and yeah I thought this well it gets good. I think it's scary right because our laws and processes are still catching up and yet we're all metaverse this and metaverse of that and like sprinting, right into it but Bumble is partnering with stop and see III and it's a free tool designed to prevent sharing revenge porn online. Bumble is the first Dating app to partner with stop and CII and I think this is great. Also makes me wonder what took so long and why isn't every dating app partnering with this free tool, we've covered this before actually, because most of the dating apps are run shockingly by men. It's a bumble is founded and led by a woman. Yeah. Except she's not leading it anymore. Yeah, she's gone. Right. She's sold out to Blackstone. She has left her Bumble like the app, her Bumble Nest leader position and she is now focused on Bumble Inc. Okay, sure. Whatever the hell let go of her. Baby anyway. But this is important one in 10 women under the age of 30 have experienced threats to share or actual sharing of intimate personal photos with without their consent. And, you know, please spare me. You shouldn't have said anything, you don't want published a newspaper. However, stop and see. I has been successful and they have a removal rate of 90%. Which means wow thousand individual. Wow, not consensual intimate, images. Haven't removed from the internet. I like that. That's your last story. That's my last story. So those are my three, you're right. Pepsi just, you know, turning out, great leaders. Specially Within My DC goodies and bumbled take on revenge porn. Here's what I didn't cover in my story the week because I thought you might cover for goodness of the week. US Congress passes Bill to protect same-sex interracial unions. That was one. I didn't know if you goodies and that to my DC. Good well, another knock. Warnock, and de star, Brittney, Griner released from Russian, labor camp, yep. Those are five DC goodies right there. And one that I was kind of secretly hoping that you would catch, but I didn't want to push another France story on you, but France to make condoms free for young. I know, I saw that free condoms. That's a good one. Well, I didn't want to push another France story on you. I thought you'd be a noise. I have a friend story today so don't worry about Jesse. You want you vote for Billy's the week. A lot of good female stuff here. Pepsi, female leadership increased DC. Goodies. I kind of like the Bumble revenge porn band. Yeah. Removing people's intimate photos non-consensual. Intimate photos. I liked that I could go for any of these. I can't vote for Pepsi just out of. I just can't do it. 43%. I know but Pepsi can't support Pepsi. Yeah. But wouldn't it be better if it was 51%? That's true or like 50 for them at 51. I'll vote for them. If I promise DC, goodies, great, but I'm gonna have five headlines in it but for the sake of our show that's true. Maybe I should vote for that and let Ari be the tiebreaker I was gonna say for the sake of our show. I like to emphasize these female-led companies and the kinds of things you were right to point out Jesse. That maybe that's part of the reason why this happened right at Pepsi because of female leader. So I'm gonna go with DC goodies, just so sorry. Right. What do you think is the week? Are you excited me the most? You can't vote for Pepsi. Oh man. It's so sad because every single one of these. I'm like a boat. Tell him about time. Maybe I'm jaded. Like you now. I need to quit. I'm not the jaded one. Yeah you are. Oh I am going to go with Pepsi because Was reading their stuff? I did not think about time. Because it's been happening. Wow. I don't split across the board, I don't know. We're gonna let, I don't know. I I gotta go to the rules technically. You're supposed to break the tie knot. Not make the tie even tie eater. Oh but that's fine. Should we call that we know? I think we know the real winners DC goodies. I mean five. Yeah. Well, when okay, yeah. When you add all the three into the two that were covered agreed. In fact, they're finally. My winner of the week covers one of the DC goodies. So did you see that Arizona senator Kristen Cinema is. Now, how do you say I think that's a last name has left the Democratic party. So we don't have a we the Democrats don't have a majority. There's also breaking news on my France. 24 website. This is Brazil loses against Croatia in the World Cup. I wouldn't have lost a lot of money but not that I know much about soccer, but I don't feel like that's something that people would have predicted that real. Yeah, so it says, right here, Okay. Well ours, checking her phone. Gone. She's back checking. That's okay. We like fact-checking. Okay. Thank you. Ari. Wow. It's true. When I'm gonna move us out of this category taking over for Matthew McCarty this week, and as holy as me, Jamie. Here we go. As always I'm gonna keep this try to keep this quick first headline, Al Gore slams Vanguard after defection from climate groups so then guard has pulled out of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero. That was brought together just last year at 26. The group that has committed to this represents about 150 trillion dollars in assets. But Vanguard alone represent seven trillion dollars of those assets. So it's a pretty big blow why they said because it's complicated. Essentially the real question is is the anti-walk war from the Republicans? Is the anti ESG? Is it working? Possibly, well, it's but it's not a good sign. I'll just say that this is so sad, barely anything gets done at 20 Evers. So Going the wrong direction. Al Gore said he was. Extremely disappointed. And that it's an irresponsible and short-sighted decision. So there you go guard. Second asshole. The week is just a bunch of Elon. I mean, you even care. Do you want to hear? Guys, decide. Okay. Just do quick hits Twitter and musk accused of systemic, gender bias against women. Matt covered this, this week they are firing Engineers. A large percent of them happen to be women in statistically they're saying it's impossible, I'm out. Yeah, so I saw the headline, I didn't click on it and I didn't read it, but I immediately thought of something within software. Engineering. Yeah, you have the front end, you have the back end women make up a larger part. Of the front end and they are way under represented in the back end. Front end is your user experience, right? The back is right back again, is what keeps the thing going? Okay, so I am wondering if they prioritized one over the other. interesting, and the makeup of women was just that You know, you're actually on the side of Elon here, you're saying give me questioning and I am skeptical. Well, yeah, but isn't isn't that really isn't user design? Extremely important? Because those are the people that have the understanding of human behavior. And no, it's like for me it's all have a building Like okay you want your doors to work sure but your door falls off, you can still walk into your building right? Like your paint could be chipping but as long as of course I yeah I guess I don't think I could choose one or the other but I think they're ugly. They're both important. Yeah. Yeah. But if the building looks ugly and you have someone right next to you and they're building looks real good. And they're branding is on point. I'm walking into that one. I mean it's it's not a terrible Theory Ari but but there's no real. It's a good theory. I don't know. That it's only Engineers. There is a lawsuit out now so we could dig a Little Deeper but I'm not totally convinced. It's just primarily Engineers. Think about all the other jobs that non-engineers hold like you're gonna find the women in the not Engineering Building. More than you would on the engineering building still don't like you defending Elon on this one. Also a janitor's striking at Twitter saying that there were and then a lot of them are fired saying, they were treated like garbage elon's building, installing bedrooms at Twitter headquarters so that his Pushing them so hard. His his neuralink company facing a federal investigation for animal abuse, blah, blah. I mean, there's so many more I listed. Oh Lord. That's number two, just miscellaneous, Elon every week. Now we have those number three assholes the week. Ohio Republicans are trying to redefine natural gas as green energy in an attempt. Yeah, and an attempt to to trick and fool everybody move on. No one. Don't cover number four because I'm covering it. Kindly say it was just drop it from the list. You can say it. I guess for your kind of blowing up my spot. Okay. I'm gonna I'll drop that kind of exhausting. Yeah, those those are the three assholes of the week. We have Ohio Republicans redefining natural gas as green energy. We have a bunch of Elon Musk nonsense and Vanguard is pulling out of major climate group established just last year. Major Net, Zero, climate group, I'll go first. Yeah. Vanguard, what a jerk? Come on, okay, Just I'm also choosing Vanguard It's Complicated. Come on, come up with something better than that. Like, just giving it to, we're peer pressure. Come up with something better. Have some original thought they can't because of the weird beer pressure. They did say that they did this after considerable period of reviews. They did think about it, they said But what is that mean? That's seems like a PR cover make more money from this. I don't know. Bad look, I would say two things. It means ah, yes they are buckling to peer pressure from the right and be. There are worried. I'm guessing they're worried about lawsuits. Sure. But that's it, they're not have a backbone, not worry about the environment that we're not worried about the planet, they're worried about, but I'm saying, that's what I'm guessing that they're mostly. I hope all of their clients are listening to this and drop them and pull their money out. What's extra said to me is that I always the Vanguard in my head was always one of the more Progressive ones so I maybe I'm wrong about that. I'm sure Matt would have the information and data to refute that. But in my head I always thought they were typically making pretty sound decisions. So this one's pretty disheartening. All right, so that's the asshole is the week band Guard. You guys both voted for that one. So let's move on to exhausting us of the week with Jesse, the money Whisperer. All right, I got some good ones. They're pretty exhausting this week, all right? Yeah, first one. That's okay. My Santos legal department, gets another w. Technically they've lost a case but I'm giving them a double. You saw this one too. Yeah I'm giving them a w because So a French farmer was poisoned by Monsanto herbicide but he wins a what they're calling poultry compensation. So, French farmer. Paul Francois was awarded 11,135 Euros by a court in Lyon which confirmed previous rulings at Montana, was responsible for poisoning him. So in 2004 on his farm in Western France, he accidentally inhaled Vapors of the herbicide lasso made by Monsanto, which was acquired by Bayer after suffering, several illnesses. And even a near-death experience he decided to take legal action and was fighting it for 15 years. And after he didn't even get a thousand euro per year, he was fighting it. So, all of that effort for 15 years, I mean, hopefully he was like represented pro bono legally because I can imagine 15 years of legal fees would exceed. But anyways, Monsanto, I'm giving their legal team a win on this, they have got to employ some of the best. Most Soulless lawyers that exists on this Earth. Do you know if this decision was made by a jury? Or it was Yeah, it was well, it was the court in Lyon. Surprise it. I don't know the intricacies of the case but I was surprised slap in the face. Yeah, I was kind of surprised too, they're not that much but this is just a whole level of not a lot. Well they they did say. I mean I believe this was a quote from Francois but he said this is a strong signal from our justice system in France, that we don't touch these multinationals. So there's politics at play here too. But I will say I was, I was surprised too because Europe at large and France, I know bands a lot of chemicals that are acceptable to use in the US and not at all in Europe. So I was surprised that they Didn't go after them for more, right? Like the band, like the red food dies, that we. Yeah, but so many like, oh, here have 11,000 Euros, right? Right. Typically speaking. Their regulation has been very Pro. People for many years, totally the EU. So I I'm a bit surprised by this to maybe this is a France, only thing or maybe you're right, maybe there's some relationship, they have with Bayer that They're too afraid to break, right? Right. So something's going on there but I mean that's so sad 15 years of life between like he said, sleepless nights. I got his illness caused and you get 11,000 Euro. Hmm, I have a special place in my heart for for no one wants to hear this, but I'm gonna say it anyway, but special place in my heart for French Farmers. I, we lived for a few months on a organic farm in France. And so I heard a lot of stories about the fight, especially the fight of organic farmers against some of these multinationals and just farming in general, not just in France, but just the amount of effort and exhaustion and just that the lifestyle. And yeah, never could take a break from It. Anyway, this is just Tripoli depressive I'm with you. So yeah, this is, this is exhausting, especially because Monsanto and Bayer, Bayer have paid million billions of dollars in settlement cases and this poor gentleman fighting it for 15 years. What else do you have Jesse? Okay. Next next exhausting story of the week are the video games, you or your kids playing exposing you to white supremacist ideology, huh? Are they The ADL. The ADL conducted a study based on a survey of over 2000 people who play online multiplayer games and found that 20% of adults reported exposure to white supremacist ideologies in 2022, which is a significant increase from the 8% who reported seeing that content in 2021. So, while 20% may not seem high may not it's I mean it it does to me, but if that's an argument. Yeah, it's 12% up. 12% in a year and that scares me a lot. Yeah, yeah. They went on to say that 15% of kids ages. 10 to 17 reported hearing discussions of white supremacy and online games which you got you. Really gotta ask your kids, what they're playing and well my son is a gamer. And this is one of those sort of unregulated areas of social media, right? Because I know he doesn't use any of the traditional social medias, but he does use something called Discord. Yeah, actually, I've heard of that in related to cryptocurrency. Yeah. And it's also like, it's one of the places I think people were going who are leaving Twitter. There are several social media channels that exist in this game and world that kind of just missed the headlines, right? They miss and Regulators aren't doing anything about it. People aren't talking about it, so it doesn't surprise me. That this was, this would be a good area to Target people because again, like when no one's talking about it frankly. Yeah, and I couldn't imagine that there's a sort of I mean, I don't Gain. But I could imagine there's a sort of like identity that you have gaming. That might be separate from your like, life life, identity, young males, you mean No no just in general where it allows you like I mean there's that wall right? Where people are kind of like hiding behind. So I I just couldn't imagine people getting carried away with these so called identities that they have like behind gaming screen and then that kind of hearing these ideologies kind of impacting them more or being more susceptible. In boldend by the secret of element of right and all that. Yeah and the game itself okay. And if This helpful, the white supremacist language was most. Been found in Call of Duty fortnite Grand Theft Auto pubg Battlegrounds. I haven't heard of that valorant and World of Warcraft, none of that surprised me, although I will say that I think those are also sort of the most popular games too. So I don't know if that's if I don't know if it's telling of the subject matter or just telling of the fact that these are popular games that I don't know. And then what exhausts me is that the ADL says gaming companies simply aren't doing enough to control harassment and extremism, Daniel Kelly, the person who directed The study for the ADL shared. I think there's only one gaming company that has a policy on extremism and that's roadblocks. This is the fourth year they've been doing the study and they're not seeing the kind of action we need from the gaming industry on Extreme ISM. So gold. Roblox this Tarzan to our previous discussion because as we have pointed out many many times, these companies are run by Men, why? Yeah, and they're just simply not. By their nature. I suppose are not going to care about these issues. They don't care about issues that affect the communities that they serve in or other stakeholders because they don't know. They, I mean, they just don't you. And, you know, I will agree with you Jesse. Why? This is extra exhausting is that I unfortunately see the name of the ADL, CEO. Jonathan Greenblatt way too much these days because he's quoted everywhere now because he needs to be quoted because there's just the increase in hate everywhere is it's just alarming. I mean, that I know his name, so readily is startling to me. Okay, we ready for Story, 3, we take a deep breath. Prepare ourselves. All right, so yesterday, December 8th. Anybody know what that day? I was not gonna say conception What is that? Jesus did. Well, the Immaculate Conception of Jesus about this. I know Jesus was born on Christmas. Duh, I'm skeptical of that. That's real. Because Christmas is relatively new I guess but, but let me ask you this. Oh my gosh, Immaculate Conception December 8th. Oh, so you're right. That's not what I was going for though. So that's the actual day that a virgin became pregnant December 8th. And then 17 days later she gave birth oh, you're too, but that math doesn't, Does anyone know the story already know the story? No dude I just know the date when Mary became first became pregnant. Was she showing like, was she huge immediately? Like, tell me. I want to know very good. Does anyone know I want to know? Yeah, Mary was pregnant 17 days before birth or was she pregnant this one? Like what did her parents say that we're gonna have to dig into it? And just let everyone be in suspense until we find out. So, tell us about okay, December 8th, Latina Equal, Pay Day, which marks the symbolic date to which Latinas have to work. So To catch up to their male co-workers what they earned in the year. The previous year the previous year. So in what male co-workers earned in 2021, it takes Latinas until December 8th of the following year to catch up, that's how underpaid. Yeah. And that pay Gap translates to a staggering loss of 1.2 million over a 40 year career. So a Latino would need to work until she's nearly 90 years old, six years Beyond her life expectancy to be paid. What a white, not Hispanic, man has earned by the time he turned 60. That's according to the National Women's Law Center. Hi gonna spin this one already. Something about front and Engineers, what do you say about this? She can't say no this thing. Yeah, I agree. I wonder if this is the longest Um, black women get paid. Yeah. Black woman's like, August. I think, yeah, Latina's I believe is the longest and it's even longer when you kind of dig into. I think it said, Guatemalans and Hondurans are paid the least. Yeah. Because they're, they're a larger part of the like lower lower wage lower paying jobs. And so they were affected more by covid to sew this. All that affects these statistics as well, but the article went on to say that Latinas are still underrepresented in Corporate America, of course, making up less than 2% of vice presidents, and less than 4% of managers at companies in the US diversity in leadership quite often. But what we don't cover is that, in this particular area, especially compared to the population in the United States. It is shockingly low. Yeah, the underrepresentation of Latinas in Latinas and Latino's in Corporate America is really just sort of shock. Only black people alone is already shocking women's already but this they're like ghosts it's like that don't even exist. It's pretty shocking, it's pretty crazy. Yeah and I'm passionate about this too. because there's a pretty element of Finding it that has to be a part of this and the article touched on that. They were saying, increasing patrons, providing Latinas access to information. Negotiation tactics, connecting them with allies in the workplace. All of these things can help but those types of opportunities are benefits, are allies are typically not Offered at the jobs and companies that that they're working at which is a real shame. And are she's allowed to talk about this stuff, because she is the money Whisperer. She's an actual account. So you're not really allowed to weigh in on this stuff. I mean today is my full payday Damien, true true are if anyone can speak to this? Yeah. Well I happen to know what Ari makes and I think you're full payday is more like December 4th. Okay. Thank you, Jesse exhausting of the week. Just just your category is really becoming just sort of depressing every week. I have no. I know. Do you think I should change it up? No, I think it's important these. Yeah, it's important. Things are really important, frankly. So no, don't change it up. Teams important. But I also don't want to be like a downer Are, what do you think about this? You have a vote. Damien. I like all of them are so good. Meager 11,000 Euros. Are you, is that a joke? I know what the premises in video games going up up. By a lot by a lot. And I mean, the payday is just added terrible. And covid makes everything worse too. Okay. Out of all of these, what did I think was the worst? Oh man, I don't know. Can you go first? Maybe I'll copy. It's someone easy for me although you know, you're right. Just the video games. No, actually. Last week, I said the hate in America. Won the week. I mean, you know, I didn't mean that in a positive way but the same exhausted by that is, it's not quite how I feel. It's more just like a constant anxiety and fear. So, I its, I'm gonna buy that. The one I'm truly exhausted by is this Equal Pay Day thing because correct me, if I'm wrong, man guard, maybe this is more complicated than I think, but this seems to me something that can be fixed by an executive order or something. I don't know like or an act of Congress. I don't understand how this issue still persists and lingers these pay gaps are clearly. So systemic that there must be an equally systemic fix to them and yet Year after year, we keep reporting on them and I don't know. And I think as you said, Jesse, it's getting worse because of the well. And in fact, another article I read was that There are like most of the tech companies are pulling money out of their de Andy efforts with, with the recession. That's coming up, too. So I expect it to get worse. Yeah. Which is frustrating, like, that's the first thing. Like, 2020, we saw people adding statements dating, I statements and inclusion statements into their mission statements, and their company vision and Mission. And now that's going to be the first thing out the door, just because we're having a recession. So, it's just it's a PR scheme for a lot of them which is really disheartening. This this is the easy pick for me because it's the, it's the combination of misogyny and racism because I can't, I just can't think of the reason for this because we specially since we live in a spending economy, a retail economy that I can't even think of the reason why you wouldn't want to put more cash in the hands of people. I just none of it makes sense other than just the horror racism and Massage but that again, that we keep reporting on this year after year and it keeps. It's just a stagnant issue. You're right. Jesse is just absolutely exhausting. That's my vote Ari. That's my vote too. Oh, thank you. Damian good. So eloquent. Thanks for ruining us today. Jesse, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It was it was an exhausting week apparently asked to do it. So yeah that's it. Those are our stories of the week female leader in Peru. Lots of good stuff coming out of DC. Vanguard's an asshole and Latina payday. Is exhausting. So, before we wrap this up, does anyone have any choice for who won the week? I do Brittney Griner she's home. She's coming home. And sadly, this is already a part of the culture where you see this. It's already so sad. I don't know why I'm so stupid to be surprised by this, but I always just figure an American being released from a Russian labor camp for having a little bit of weed, is probably something that all Americans would celebrate, but we just be happy already part of the culture world, nine years in jail in Russia. Yeah, yeah. Well she's a she's a tall black lesbian drug using tattoo. These, I guess these are all the symbols of the culture, where all the right hates all those things like gas. I don't know how I missed this but anyway, not to ruin your winner of the week. Jesse, she's my winner, I stand by it. My vote is just for black people in Georgia. I don't know if anyone saw the acceptance speech from Raphael, Warnock on Tuesday night, but the audience represented, a coalition, not just a block people. Asian women lat Know. But to see that scene in Georgia, a state that you know, they continue to try to restrict the voting rights of black people to see this man win in a state like that. There are other centers is Jewish. The whole thing is just completely it just completely put a smile on my face for like two hours and so I think black people in Georgia for electing we're not to the Senate you know. The other candidate too was black Herschel Walker. He got three percent of the black vote we're not. So anyway, we owe a lot to. I think the black people in Georgia. They're my winner of the week already. Have awesome. Yeah. Same. And they saved our butts last election too. So even more. So with Cinema Leaving the Democratic party. That makes a victory in George all the more important. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. Predictions predictions. First. Mine's most important. I'll go first, Matt has a fourth kid. because his third kid says that she's bored of the second kid, In the first kid is getting lonely. So Matt's gonna have a fourth pitch? So that's what I really think is happening today. God, I think they're planning for a fourth child. Okay, I actually have a prediction this week, okay? My prediction is that Pepsi stops creating targeted ads to children as female leadership and thus, emotional intelligence grows. It's actually a pretty smart prediction as these things go. Thank you. I wonder about my second production. Only. It's a whole. We're still like money. That's true dressy. I think it was last week announced that they're gonna stop targeting. Like sugar adds to children. Not wow. Dig into their early leadership to see. Yeah. Anything or any predictions? That's crazy. I think. The new Peruvian president is going to step down before the end of the year. What the the woman? The vice president. The yes, what vice president is now president. Why, why not? I don't know crazy for the end of the year. So, in fewer days, it took Virgin Mary to give birth, to Jesus, he's gonna be No, she did, look it up. And the Immaculate Conception is not about Jesus's conception that Annunciation day in March. Anyway, I don't talk about, okay, that's my prediction. Said that's business pants that's Friday show for December 9th. Okay. Thanks for listening. Have a great weekend.
